Audio is very faint or non-existent on sites like YouTube

I  bought a HP Pavilion notebook. The audio works on fine on sites like MLB.com etc. - You Tube, however is a problem. I downloaded the latest Adobe Flash player, checked all settings but still nothing. Any ideas ? Staples, where I bought the computer wants $80 just to look at it.

Here is a link to the Secord Township Board meeting minutes. Scroll down to the bottom where it says SBA/Verizon Tower. It says "on air" by 5/31/2014. That date is wrong. There were some delays. They should be "online" sometime in the coming months.

  • Very slow or non-existent broadband in the evening...

    Why is it that when you contact BT about a slow or non-existent BT broadband every evening, they doggedly maintain that testing the line and waiting seven days will solve the problem? My BT broadband works wonderfully well during the daytime but slows to a standstill in the evening, not really a line problem, rather a bit of exchange congestion I think, unless of course you believe in conspiracies.
    What if BT are actually setting the lines that have the old white HomeHub and Internet phone to a lower priority than the Infinity lines, to boost the performance of the new connections and encourage, (force), the current HomeHub users to upgrade? I rather like having two telephone lines, and would rather not upgrade and lose the second line, but I feel that this is not what BT want.
    So if I'm forced to upgrade and lose the Internet phone it's off to Sky, those Murdochs need all the help they can get.

  • No video, only Audio in sites like Youtube and Dailymotion. Was perfectly fine earlier.

    Video doesn't play in Youtube. Only Audio. It was working fine only until a week ago. Tried uninstalling and re-installing Firefox. Tried several other sites like dailymotion and vimeo. However videos in screens.yahoo.com is payed perfectly.
    Please help.
    Attached the image of Youtube video with "stats for Nerds".

    Hello,
    Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems|this article]] for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).
    To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:
    #Go to this [http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues Adobe Flash Player Help page].
    #Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
    #Click on '''Settings''' in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
    # Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel. <br/> <br/>[[Image:fpSettings1.PNG]] <br/>
    # Remove the check mark from '''Enable hardware acceleration'''.
    # Click '''Close''' to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
    # Restart Firefox.
    This [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html Flash Player Help - Display Settings page] has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.
    Does this solve the problem? Let us know.

  • IOS 4.3.5 wifi suddenly very shaky to non existent, in-call loss of signal

    Just updated to 4.3.5. on iPhone 4. My Wifi signal has become shaky, even at home using the latest (July 2011) Apple Extreme model. Sometimes, checking under Setting - WiFi, my phone clearly recognizes the existence of a Wifi signal of up to two or three "bars", but my home screen keeps showing either 3G or the little circle indicating the old 2G connection. Also, the very latest: mid call, my signal simply disappears. Mind you, the connection is still up, but I can't hear or speak to the person on the other end of the line. That lasts for about 5-10 seconds, and then it's back. All of this is extremely annoying. I love the iPhone, it's the best out there, but please, any ideas or fixes?

    I am having the exact same trouble with wifi. I upgraded to 4.3.5 yesterday and immediately noticed the connectivity issue with wifi. It is especially evident after I wake up the phone, the wifi is disconnected. Trying to reconnect is very frustrating, have to turn wifi off and on numerous times and also have to turn airplane mode on and off a few times and eventually it reconnects to the wifi. I tried resetting network settings and rebooted the phone a few times but same problem prevails. Sometimes it comes back with message "Unable to connect to network" then suddenly it connects. I have a Linksys 802.3 b/g access point. Before upgrading to 4.3.5 my phone would connect to the access point as soon as I got into range (for the most part) now it does not connect by itself automatically despite the message in the wifi connections screen that says "Known networks will be joined automatically"
    I am starting to get annoyed at Apple it seems they cannot fix a bug in the software without screwing up some other critical function. A similar problem with wifi happened last year, unfortunately I don't recall what or when I was on a business trip at the time, upgraded the phone software and wifi blew up. Two strikes against Apple, only one more to go. I was looking at getting iPads for my field service reps, think I am going to look at other options I cannot have my techs having issues with wifi connectivity. If Apple cannot take this seriously then perhaps their products are not cut out for the business world. Fix it Steve Jobs!

  • Re: Very slow or non-existent broadband in the eve...

    I am having the same problem, every evening usually between 9 pm and 10 pm but at other time as well. Slower at other times in the evening as well.
    I consider that the problem is serious enough that BT have not fullfilled their part of the contract.

  • 3g phone ringer all the way up but very faint, all sounds are very faint or none at all.  Even the click when turning off is bearly audible.  Is there a fix for this?

    My phone volume has almost disappeared.  Screen clicks, ringer all of it is bearly audible, sometimes not at all.  Everything is on, ringer volume turned all the way up.  Is there a fix for this on the iphone 3G?

    I am simply lookig for some help not an argument.  I am not an RF specialist however have setup a few wireless networks in my tenure at Wynn Resorts.  I fully agree that wireless networking is an art and a science however the powers that be in Network Land have toughted wireless networking is the easiest and quickest way to get two computers to talk with one another.  As I previously said I have already turned one (1) MBP in for this problem and Apple decided to replace it because they could not fix the problem with my particular MBP.  This MBP was running Leopard when the problems started
    I am having a hard time believeing that there are several other devicces in my home that depend on a wireless network to operate and my MBP is the only one having an issue.  I took this a step further and decided to see what would happen if I tried to connect wirelessly via Fusion.  In Windows 7 I am able to print and scan to my hearts content without any issues.  I am able to browse the internet as much as I want.  I close Fusion and try to connect to my printer via wireless and nothing.
    In order to get Apple to help do I need to get a Network Analyzer and capture packets when I have these problems?  Out of the 1000 + posts is there a consolidation of which answer is the best?  BTW I am accessing the internet via a wireless connection using Fusion and Windows 7.
    In response to Linc's comments, I will look at the router specifications however I did not qualify that these devices are not using the wireless connection at the same time.  Right now I would guess there are maybe two (2) or three (3) at the most that are actively transmitting / receiving information. --  Thanks

  • TS2634 The audio is very faint with earphones for my iPad 1

    I've tried a few different headphones.  The volume is cranked.  You can hear but just barely.  Unusably quiet.
    Anyone else experienced (and conquered) this?

    I figured it out.  In Settings -> iPod there is a setting for volume minimization.  Need to turn that Off!  Everything works fine now.

  • I was having problems with video and audio on certain sites like youtube. I edited some settings in Realplayer and have video now, but no audio.

    Went into preferences on Realplayer, Download and recording, then unchecked "Enable Web Downloading and Recording...". That got video going, but no audio still. (Interesting that the list of browsers below that check box did NOT include Firefox.

  • Creating a Socket to non-existent host very slow

    Why does it take a long time to try to create a Socket to a non-existent host on a Linux machine? On a Windows machine it takes approx. 20 sec., but when I try it on a Linux machine it takes approx. 180 sec.!
    Here's the code I'm using (very simple):
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.net.Socket;
    import java.net.UnknownHostException;
    public class SocketCreator {
    public static void
    main(String[] args) {
    long _begin = System.currentTimeMillis();
    try {
    new Socket("10.10.10.10", 2000);
    } catch (UnknownHostException exception) {
    exception.printStackTrace();
    } catch (IOException exception) {
    exception.printStackTrace();
    long _end = System.currentTimeMillis();
    System.out.println("It took: " + (_end - _begin) + " ms.");
    Some additional info:
    - Java2 SDK 1.1.x, 1.3.x and 1.4.x
    - Windows XP
    - Red Hat 7.2, 9

    This is really a Linux system-wide problem. If you wanted to fix this in Java, you might even have to resort to JNI to sent yourself a signal and interrupt your system call (the system call is connect()).
    Unfortunately, the page give by "man tcp" on Linux is often not kept up-to-date with the many options available in /proc/sys/net/ipv4 .
    Also, access to the local LAN will often give a quick "No route to host" message.
    To test the long-timeout, you have to access a remote IP that does not exist. For instance, on Linux, if you start two xterms, and on the firxt you enter:
    telnet 66.120.89.14
    and on that second your enter
    netstat -an
    You will see something like this line:
    tcp 0 1 192.168.5.18:32836 66.120.89.14:23 SYN_SENT
    So now you know that the socket is sitting in SYN_SENT.
    Now, if you look on a nice, full man page of tcp, like
    http://www.die.net/doc/linux/man/man7/tcp.7.html
    You will see
    tcp_syn_retries
    The maximum number of times initial SYNs for an active TCP connection attempt will be retransmitted. This value should not be higher than 255. The default value is 5, which corresponds to approximately 180 seconds.
    Back on the second xterm, try:
    % cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_syn_retries
    5
    I bet you got five also. You could turn it down to two (decreases time to around 20 seconds).
    You could try this as root:
    # sysctl -w net.ipv4.tcp_syn_retries=2
    or even add this command to your /etc/rc.d/rc.local file

  • Very Faint Signal from Mic Running thru M-Audio Firewire Solo

    I get a very faint signal running a condenser mic thru M-Audio Firewire Solo to GB. 1/4 guitar input in Solo records fine. Solo is selected as input in system preferences. All gain and recording levels are maxed. Any ideas?

    It's a tube mic so it has its own power source/brick.  I've tested the mic with just its power source and its working great.

    What's with the non-existant free trial download for Photoshop?  You click on "Download free trial" and it takes you to a page that takes you to a forum… nothing happens.  I've done this about 6 times on two browsers.  Of course, there's no help from Adobe, so I'm trying this forum.  Thanks!
