Audio is way off in converted videos on ipod...slowly gets worse

Any help on fixes....Progressively gets out of synch with the video as movie plays. Easiest fixes appreciated. Thanks, JY

Fair enough....Videora was my program. No problems getting videos changed over from mpeg to proper format. Got them into itunes and onto my ipod 30gb video. Audio starts off fine, then slowly gets behind more and more during movie.
I read a little about how this can happen. Video is running at a different speed than audio from the get-go. The more time the movie is, the longer the difference gets.
I'm lost on some of the settings people say to use. Need a fix, hopefully with videora, since I've converted several movies already through that. Any help would be great, and hopefully you can explain it with some detail if you do have some info.
Thanks, JY

  • Cant hear audio after converting videos for ipod

After i convert any video i have with itunes, it loses the audio. does anyone know how i can fix this so i can watch videos on my ipod with sound

QuickTime expects video files with separate video and audio tracks, but many MPEG formats used a muxed (multiplexed) single track that contains both. Therefore, when you convert videos in iTunes to iPod format they only show the video and no sound since iTunes (really QuickTime) is not looking for the audio track within the video track and it gets lost.

One way to work around this is to use MPEG Streamclip to convert the files to fix this issue...

but there are other applications besides MPEG Streamclip you can try as well.

  • No audio when converting video for ipod 3rd generation

I read a thread that had not be answered regarding video to ipod that ends up with no sound. I wonder if anyone has found the answer to the problem. I have converted movies from imovie 08 and had no problems with sound but when I tried to convert a downloaded music video I only get the video and no sound.
Anyone have the answer to that one?
    Thanks

  • Converting Video to iPod, can you change name of file

When you convert Video to iPod format, can you change name of the new file or put some "marker" so one can tell which is the orginal and which is the new file?
Currently it is difficult to tell between the orignal and the new file.
    thanks in advance
    Rohit

You'd probably be better off doing this sort of editing in iTunes, and letting it move the files appropriately.
Go to the preferences, Advanced tab, and check the box to 'Keep iTune Music folder organized'. Then any changes you make to song names or other info (within iTunes) will automatically be applied.

  • No sound when converting video to ipod

after i convert video for ipod playback using quicktime the file has no sound???.....

it's probably best to check to see if the source files for that video are "muxed". for some more info on that, see:

  • ITunes fails when trying to convert videos for iPod Touch

I have loaded videos taken from digital cameras (Fuji and Canon) into iTunes (latest version) and I can view them using the QuickTime reader (also latest version). Before syncing them to my iPod 4th gen, I go to advanced options and click on Convert for iPod or Iphone. After 1 or 2 seconds, iTunes craps out with what looks a protection exception. (iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for...)
When I click to find out more details, the Error signatures says Appname iTunes.exe, AppVer: 10.1.0.54 Mod Name: coreaudiotoolbox.dll ModVer: 7.9.4.0 Offset: 000b2f84.
I rebooted with same result. The same problem occured many times, with iPod connected or not and using different videos. I tried to download the test video from the Apple site, but nothing happens when trying to download.
I am on Windows XP, SP3, fully patched.
    Thanks for helping.

    OK. Problem solved.
I removed all Apple software using Add/remove software in Control Panel.
    Rebooted.
Used Advanced System Care (free edition) to scan and fix the registry. There were over 200 problems related to iTunes or QuickTime in the registry.
Downloaded a fresh copy of Itunes.
    Re-installed.
I can now convert videos to Ipod.
Hope this can help others having similar problems.

  • Video lip (audio) sync way off

Anyone else noticed that videos shot and played back on the phone are way off with respect to lip sync?  The videos same videos when transferred to my PC play fine.  Other streaming content is fine on the phone (TV.com and Netflix).
    Thanks.

Thank you Wildman for your suggestion!  Clearing memory is certainly one of the most helpful tips.
MMFofCT, the way that downloads are being played back is not normal.  I know you say streamed data works fine; therefore, the downloaded data should work the same.  This is likely to happen if the memory card is close to being full; however, if the card has plenty of memory and this is still happening, I suggest doing a Factory Reset , and then attempt to play/ view downloaded videos.  If still unsuccessful, we will need to speak with you to do further troubleshooting.  If this is the case, please send me a Private Message and I will be happy to personally assist you.
    Thank you,

  • No Audio When Converting Videos For iPod

whenever i convert video files for my ipod they do not have audio. i have tried several programs, and none work. i have read other discussions about this, and found that MPEG Streamclip worked for other people, however whenever i try to convert using this program, it says "Error: Can't Prepare The Movie" Can anyone tell my why i can't convert these videos? i cannot figure it out. thanks alot.

I am not sure what you mean when you ask what the "compression formats" are.The compression formet refers the manner in which the media was encoded and, by extension, how the media must be decoded. I.e., it determines which codec (encoder/decoder or compressor/decompressor) is to be used with the media file.
If you can tell me where to find those i could tell you what they are. I can, however, play the video in itunes, quicktime, and MPEG Streamclip.Simnce the files are playable in QT, the most common place to look for codec information is in the "Show Movie Info" window following the "Format:" entry. E.g., it might say:
    Format: MPEG2 muxed, 640 x 480orFormat: Apple MPEG4 Decompressor, 320 x 240, millions
    AAC, Stereo, 48,000 kHz
i also am not sure if there is audio in the source file.Do you hear any audio when the original file is played? If not and there is no audio track (or "muxed") information, then there may not be any sound for you to convert in the first place.
how do i find out if it is muxed? If it is "muxed," the format entry we say so. In this case blocks of audio data and blockes of video data are interspersed in a single data stream (track). This is the normal way MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 audio/video data is synchronized. In addition, these formats commonly lose their audio content when converted using QT Pro, iTunes, iMovie, FCE, FCP, or other QT based "frame-to-frame" synchronized workflow. (In the case of MPEG-2 in MPEG Streamclip or QT, the QT MPEG-2 component must also be installed in order to convert the video data alone.)
most of my videos that won't convert for an ipod are downloaded from the internet. how can i find out if they are corrupted or incomplete?Internet files should always be considered suspect -- especially if they come from a peer-to-peer source. Messages that indicated QT cannot open an otherwise fully compatible QT format is often the best indication that there is a corruption problem or that the files were improperly closed at one point or another.
most of my videos that won't convert for an ipod are downloaded from the internet. how can i find out if they are corrupted or incomplete?Normally ypu would post them to a web site or FTP storage area and post the URL. If files were downloadedd from a particular web site (e.g., a QT movie trailer), simply post the URL for the particular web page.

  • NO AUDIO WHEN CONVERTING VIDEO TO IPOD FORMAT

This is really ******* me off. My .mov's are being converted via QTPro to mV4 with no audio. Why does this have to be so f*ing difficult? How can I extract the audio and re-sync it to the video? I have a powerbook and have finalcut and logic express.

There's no problem converting to an actual file that iPod plays, it just doesn't add the audio to the new file. I hear that you have to have the video and audio file with some .movs (possibly with old codecs??) before you convert them to ipod format. So, I have to extract the audio from the .mov (probably with final cut) and then import the video along with the audio back into final cut and then convert to the m4v.
I just don't know why this process is so difficult, there should be a program that extracts the audio with video to the correct format. I've tried every program and with final cut so far and none of them add the audio to the final video.

  • Audio is off sync with videos on Ipod Touch.

My Ipod touch does not want to seem to play the audio in correct sync with my videos anymore. I have not done or changed a thing lately. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks. I am running firmware 1.1.5

Update My iTouch is downgraded to 1.1.5 successfully. I used a pc that had an un updated version of iTunes installed (7.6) and after 2 attempts using the power off + home combination described in the firmware 1.1.5 post, I was able to successfully "restore" to the latest "1.1.5" iTouch software. When the touch reset, before establishing a sync relationship with the pc, I reattached it to my mac and selected "new ipod" rather than restore from backup. I then synced and tested on of the previously screwed up videos. It plays without any audio sync problems. This processes is more or less what the genius bar instructed me to do. I was reluctant to download any software not coming directly from apple. If anyone knows where the firmware file is stored on iTunes PC version, I would greatly appreciate the location. I want to save the file on my mac now that I know this is a good version. When Apple comes out with 2.1, I want to have a fall back.

Where are the videos from? are they from a creditable source or from an illegal downloading site such as limewire. most of those videos are not in the correct video format to begin with so apple itunes will not recognize them and convert them. The best way to convert video is to rip your own dvds or home movies and put them on your computer then ipod. There is at least one way on each operating system (windows and mac) to rip your own dvds and then transfer them to itunes and finally put them on your ipod. A mac is the easiest of the two ways. If you have a mac, then you download a program off of the web called handbrake. Simply "google" >handbrake rip dvds< and its homepage should pop up or try <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://handbrake.m0k.org). Handbrake allows you to copy and convert your dvds to ipod format. On a windows operating system the most effective way I have found to rip my dvds is quicktime pro($25-$35). You can buy it at quicktime's website. It basically does the same thing as handbrake. I, myself, have simply converted some videos, like sports shows and commercials, to ipod format using itunes and both the video and audio worked fine.
If you have any ?'s just reply back
    I hope this helps!

  • ITunes into Freeze converting video to iPod

After importing a video H.264 I tried to convert it to 'iPod' and then Itunes gets into freeze...wheel turning and nothing happends.
Tried to restart. No succes. Tried format mp4...no succes.
    Hope some one can help

movies in the format of AVI or MPEG 1, 2 do something called 'multiplexing' or muxing for short. this is basically that the audio and video files get interwoven. iPod is made in such a way that it doesnt support 'muxed' files. so you have to 'de-multiplex' or demux the files.
there r many software which demux files, but theyre hard to find and are expensive. and after demuxing the file uve to go ahead and convert it to iPod fomat which is irritating. what i do is that i use this software called imTOO iPod video convertor (or something along those lines) go to www.imtoo.com and download the file to convert to iPod/ MPEG-4. if u convert to iPod then its a problem if u want to play the file on a big screen since it also reduces the file size. therefore id use the convert to MPEG-4, and keep the resolution size (picture/video size) the same. it should work
    or get iSquint (isquint.org)
