Audio Issue - Intermittent and driving me crazy

Hey folks,
About a year ago an intermittent noise began on my computer (late 2011 - macbook pro). It would sometimes happen every 30 seconds, then drop down to every few hours. This happened for momths. Then, it just stopped all together.
The noise is now back, and as annoying as ever. A link to the noise is below. I've been racking my brain trying to figure out what it is.
It should be statred that my girlfriend has an a mid 2010 model that does the same, but with less of a frequency.

Ipad intermittant tone driving me crazy!

In the past two weeks, my iPad has intermittantly sounded some tone (four notes with third one raised) with NO other type of notification. I have turned EVERY notification I can find OFF and yet it still sounds from time to time ... I can NOT figure out what this tone is, and it's driving me crazy. I know I can mute the whole iPad, but that's crazy. Does anyone have a suggestion of how to troubleshoot where this tone is coming from?

Heh heh. It is an app. Somewhere. Trying to tell you something. And you may go nutz looking for it. There was one case where an app kept asking a user to give it a rating, and dinged at the same time, middle of the night, if I recall. Anyway, I don't know how much stuff you may have, but look thru your apps for the guilty party. Anything with an alarm clock involved is a first place to look.

My phone is broken and driving me crazy

I have had my blackberry for just over a year now. I purchased it because of the easy access to my school email and personal email accounts. Since about 4 months into my contract my phone has gone into my email and deleted emails, and now it will not access my emails altogether. I have gone into the store to see my carrier and they say there is nothing I can do about it except pay for a new phone. I think it's absurd that I buy into a product that is supposed to be the best product for email access and now I can't even use it and I am being told I have to invest in a new phone when I am only a year into my 3 year contract. I am a student and I surely can not afford to buy another blackberry.
My carrier also said this is a common problem, but I have never heard of this happening to anyone else. The carrier says this is just not something I can send away to get fixed and "there is nothing I can do about it, but replace it".
Aside from my phone not accessing my email accounts it frequently shuts off for hours at a time or the screen goes white. I can not answer phone calls because all I can hear is static. I can assure that there is no physical damage to my phone or water damage of any kind. This is troubling considering phone calls I miss from school, department administrators and work.
I'm not sure what I am supposed to do in this case but just try to last with the phone but I'm not sure if I can. I can't afford another phone anytime soon but when I can I'm not sure it will be a blackberry. The support and interest I have received regarding this issue is minimal and I can't even find the proper email or phone number to contact to place my complaint. I may email this to another address if I find another more fitting address to send it to. - All I'm asking for is some support for my problem instead of being told I have to shell out 499 dollars for a brand new phone when I just did a year ago.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Given your description, I'd advise an OS reload. Something seems to have gone wonky with your BB and, as long as the problem is not hardware (which, at this internet distance, there quite simply is no way to know for sure), an OS reload may well help...just be sure to do the reload clean, and don't add your other apps for a while until you are confident that it's running stable. Then add your other apps slowly so as to determine if perhaps one of them is the culprit.
From a PC, you can install any compatible (e.g., for your exact BB Model Number) OS package to a BB via this procedure:

Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

Default preloader is ruining my project and driving me crazy... not asking for much here.

I have tried for weeks now to find a simple way to add my logo and maybe text that says "now loading - please wait, etc", however, I have yet to find a SIMPLE way to do this. Every tutorial I have found shows how to add actionscript, or a moving progress bar with percentages, etc. These tutorials are not for designers, nor are they simple for beginers. If it truly is that difficult to add a simple logo (image) and maybe text to the default flex preloading screen (doesnt have to have the progess bar), I do not see the benefit to Catalyst for designers who care about the "first appearance" of their project.
PLEASE, if anyone can walk me through the simple way of adding an image, video, text, or whatever to the loading screen that would be great. As for now I have many hours of work sitting standby because the loading page and false hope in catalyst. SURELY there must a solution.

Unfortunately preoloaders are tough issue. I am sure if you work through carefully one of those tutorials you would be able to do. But, as an alternate solution, you could contact a local Flash or Flex user group and see if a member there could help you out. Or even an online group. Just be aware, once it is taken into Flash Builder (which it will be), it can not be reopened in Flash Catalyst.

Code fine in 4.0 and driving me crazy in 5.0

I started what I thought was going to be a really quick change in 5.0, since it has already been done in our 4.0 webclient.
In the activity clipboard under the column activity, I want to just change the text "customer" to say "contact". This is what I did in 4.0 and everything is fine. In 5.0 I bomb.
I created a z version of the controller.
ZL_CRM_IC_IRECACTIVITIESC_IMPL of course with the correct superclass. A Z version of the iterator
zl_crm_ic_irecactivitiesc_it with a superclass.
I redefined SET_MODELS of the z IMPL and replaced

Thanks for responding. This is what ST22 says. The only difference between 4. and 5.0 is that when I extended the iterator in 4.0, the only attributes I had to define were the constants GC_COLKEY_ACTIVITY, GC_COLKEY_DESCRIPTION, GC_COLKEY_MOREINFO.
The other attributes were defined as public or protected. In 5.0 I also had to define GV_BLANK_BEE, GV_ACTIVITY,
GV_DESCRIPTION, GV_MOREINFO, because they were defined as private and not protected. Same thing with Methods GET_BLANK_BEE and PROCESS_CELL. The problem has to be somewhere in how I'm calling PROCESS_CELL or in PROCESS_CELL. I'm just not experience enough to know if something should say me-> or not Here the dump info below.

You can use these steps to disable the snippets on the about:home page:
* Set the browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl pref to an empty string on the about:config page
* Open about:home page in a tab
* Open Web Console in this tab (Firefox menu button or Tools > Developer)
* Run this command via the command prompt: gSnippetsMap.clear()
* Close the tab with the about:home page
* Close and restart Firefox

"problem connecting to server" is driving me crazy!

First off, thank you in advance to anyone who helps me figure this out.
At one time, I had an HP MediaSmart Home Server named "baird" that my iMac connected to.
It died one day and now it seems everytime I try to open iPhoto, Aperture, or anything that makes a call to the media libraries, I get the dreaded:
I have to click OK about 40+ times for it to go away or close the application that triggers it.
I am guessing at one time I had a reference to some media on my home server but I can't find anywhere that I can remove it.
I have rebuilt my iPhoto and Aperature libraries to fix any broken links and still get the error.
I have no active share references to it in my Finder.
Does anyone have any clues how I can fix this? It's been going on for 3 months and driving me crazy!

Bump for sanity's sake...

Bootcamp 3.1 and imac windows 7 64bit update not installing. Audio issues!

After many days of work getting the windows 7 working in bootcamp in my imac 27 (still with audio issues) I eagerly awaited the bootcamp update and imac updates.
Neither will install.
Then I find that according to tech support as of now I have to reinstall Windows 7 again for the updates to work!
It took me 5 full 8 hours days to get all my scientific programs installed and working, now I find I can't even simply update the drivers I need. I don't want to reinstall.
My only issues are audio.
Here they are:
1) The headset jack works fine on the Mac side, but in Windows 7, it causes the i7 intel CPU to go crazy. There is no CPU spike on the mac side.
2) The headset jack in the imac is a trrs jack. The same as in the iphone, a tri-band jack that has three bands, two audio out channels and one mic in channel. A trrs headset works fine on the mac side with using the headset mic (as in iphone) rather than the built in mic. (this provides much better quality for sound recording). I don't want to use a usb mike.
In Windows 7 the mic part of the trrs headset does not work.
3) In Windows 7 when going into audio devices recording, no audio mixer shows up, so when I do video or audio screen capture the only way to capture the sound is through the speakers and then back through the imac built in mic, rather than directly through the unit. (terrible sound quality) On the mac side the mixer element works fine.
Now I find from other imac users that even the new updates for the imac on windows 7 don't address and fix the audio issues. I am sure not going to go through 5 more days work only to find the audio issues still don't work.
I need these audio aspects to work properly though!
I have tried to get drivers for the cirrus logic audio card, but guess what there are none available and cirrus logic doesn't even recognize the board or offer drivers.
I have many windows programs I must have for my scientific research!I bought the top of the line Imac with all the bells and whistles because Apple promised that the machine could run Windows 7 in bootcamp natively!
It doesn't. This has been a nightmare of problems.
Is Apple going to step up to the plate and make good on their promises?
Does any one have a fix for any of the audio issues, or know how to install the new drivers without a complete reinstall of Windows?
Installing a few sound drivers and software should not require a complete reinstall. Getting the proper drivers for the headset jack audio in and audio out jack should be the most basic of fixes. Making the audio mixer work should be elementary.
If you are an Apple tech person or an Apple user that can help on these issues, please do!

On another thread a few people have responded saying that their imac has the same situation, the cpu is going crazy and the imac gets hot with headphones or speakers plugged in. But this doesn't happen in the mac side.
If you have an late 2009 imac and don't have these audio issues, let us hear from you. If you don't, lay out the problem here.
Here is my last two cents in to the inquiry.
Not only does the cpu run crazy but the imac 27 gets very, very hot. Since I unplugged the headphones, it runs much, much cooler.
Certainly, some Mac engineers should take care of this problem, it seems it is universal on all the imac 27's and from what I gather, the smaller screened cousins too.
Also, we certainly want a stereo mix option for audio in or out, or what is called "what you hear" or wave out. Imac is supposed to be much geared to multimedia apps.
Finally, the mic jack part of the trrs set up MUST be fixed! A lot of manufacturers are going to headset combo jacks as they call them, mic in and stereo out on the same tribanded plug. But, the old single jack for mic in and single jack for stereo out are two tiny parts of the hardware and super inexpensive for the manufacturer. Why in the **** to go to the "advanced" triplug if the **** thing doesn't work.
Mac has a great reputation. I hope they remedy these problems right away.
Anyone whose imac 27 or 24 whose headset plug is working correctly. Let us know! I don't think anyone's is, but I think that few people understand that their cpu is running so much faster with the plug in, plus few even understand the combo jack and the triband, or trrs audio jack! Out of 4 audio technicians I talked to, not one of them knew what a trrs jack was or that you even have a mic in jack as part of the headset jack!
When I told one senior that it worked on the Mac side, he didn't believe for a while, thought my sound might be recorded from the onboard mic, but I proved it to him by tapping iaudibly on my iphone mic headset and and it showing up in garage band clearly and listening to big difference in audio.
As for a usb audio adapter, I am in a neon light environment and find that those adapters are more sensitive to electrical interference. Besides I want to use the headset jack as it was meant to be used!
Thats it.
Again, if anyone using an imac 27 and windows 7 64 or 32 doesnt have these problems, let us know! We are all anxious for a fix!

Curve issues driving me crazy!!

Ok, so I bought my BB Curve in January, and at first I loved it!
A few days ago though it began going crazy. Everytime I try to open something I get that annoying clock thing, and then once I finally get the program open, it stays. This happens during phone calls (so it is rediculous trying to answer and end calls) writing texts and email - anything.
Then I added in the battery issue - my phone will die within 6 hours, even if I am not doing anything different.
And now...the last few nights the screen has gone white with a weird meesage on it (something like APP ERROR I think...)
I got a new SIM card, and that fixed it for about 6 hours.
This is driving me crazy! i take my battery out so many times during the day it is almost not worth having a phone!
Please please please help!

I have the Curve 8130 - my carrier is ATT & for about the last mth it has been sluggish. The hourglass keeps popping up like something is running in the background. I have not loaded any new apps recently & it does starighten out after I pop the battery, but that's getting old pretty quick. Fortunately, I'm not having battery issues - but it is a nuisance to keep fighting with that **bleep** hourglass. Anybody else out there having the same issues or are we just the lucky ones???
Looks like 2 different carriers here, so I don't think it's an ATT thing. Is Blackberry doing something or upgrading something that maybe we're not aware of? I never had an issue with my Curve before - but this last month has been really aggravating. I'm sure we can't be the only 2 people having these issues. Help!!!

Network Manager driving me crazy (3 issues)

Hey guys I'm new here, hope you can help me
nm-applet is driving me crazy!
First issue: when I boot nm-applet doesn't appear in my tint2 eventhough I'm connected. This don't appear all the time, it's random. I have to kill it and restart it to be able to see it.
I use openbox and I have this in .config/openbox/autostart
(sleep 3 && /usr/bin/nm-applet --sm-disable) &
Second issue:
I selected the save option for the password of my vpn but it won't save it... Or wait, yes it will.. But not all the time. It asks me for the pass sometimes, and sometimes not
Third issue:
I thicked the "automatically connect to vpn for this connection" but guess what... It won't
Any idea about how to troubleshot this. I'm seriously considering pacman -R network-manager and pacman -S something else

1st issue: run nm-applet from the command line (take it out of openbox's start file wherever that is) after you log in to see what's going on.
2nd issue: do you have gnome-keyring installed? I believe it should be started with by networkmanager when it's needed, but you may need to figure out how to start it on your own. I don't know how.
3rd issue: I believe the automatic connection to vpn on a specific network is triggered by networkmanager-dispatcher which is just part of the networkmanager package, but is its own separate service. When you enable/start NetworkManager via systemctl, it should enable/start 3 services - the dispatcher is one of them. Do you have that running?
I may be wrong about some of this; it's been a while since i've used NetworkManager.

AE and Computer- Audio dropping out and stuttering issues

I recently bought an Airport Express 2 weeks ago. I hooked the unit up in my bedroom via ethernet(roaming) method. I use Airplay and turn on Computer and Airport Express to play both in my living room and my bedroom at the same time. Problem is I'm noticing my iTunes in my living room exhibits some stuttering during songs or the audio will start to drop out intermittently and sometimes shuts off completely but the Airport Express is still playing in my bedroom without issue. I've tried turing off the wireless but it doesn't do anything. When I turn off AE in Airplay and just play using the Computer it works fine. I'm not sure what can be causing the interference but it seems its between my computer and AE when they are both turned on. I would appreciate any suggestions forum members have to help me resolve this issue. I have the 2nd generation AE. Thanks a lot.

Verizon finally said that they would come out and boost the signal but haven't seen anyone in two weeks. I have called Verizon tech help for one year to get help with this, either trade phone or something. I am so frustrated! I picked Verizon for the clear calls and coverage inside hospitals and buildings but it's been terrible. I have had three of these phones replaced. I need a different model like the S4 or the S5 I think cause it's something in this model.

Verizon is quickly becoming the worst cell phone company out there. To read all of these pleas from your loyal customers is just so sad and pitiful. You need to be sued for your data overage charges that you are intentionally imploding on your customers. They have pleaded, very intelligently, with you to do something to fix the issue and you willingly have NOT. As is with my reception issue that I was promised a signal booster for two months ago, so is this issue with the data. You don't follow up and solve the issues. Therefore the courts will find you fraudulent. When I was promised by your super tech that I needed a signal booster and he was sending it out overnight at no charge to me, I was relieved that it would finally be taken care of so I wouldn't lose faith with Verizon. Well, that was two months ago now with no record of it ever being ordered or on my file anywhere. I have since called three more times with hours of conversations about that issue and two more techs have told me they were sending me a signal booster with no follow up what so ever. WOW! That's pitiful! You may not care now, oh but you will later when you lose lots of money and business.

X230 audio issue, cannot record or hear audio intermittently.

We have 209 x230 laptops with windows 7 64bit. A good number of these laptops are having intermittment audio issue. You cannot hear anything or record anything. Sometime the system sound will work but other application such as the web browser will not work.
EDIT: All drivers are updated.

If it's a Windows error, it's typically going to be a Microsoft problem. Uninstall any security software you have and if you have a restore point for your PC, you may want to restore your PC back to when iTunes was working normally. If none of those work you would need to contact Microsoft and demand help.

As you may have noted from the list of Apple devices I own, I believed in the Apple and the products it was producing; but it is hard to believe from my experience and the other voices within the Apple Community that we are all experiencing the same hardware issues. Especially since I recently, I upgraded to an IPhone 4g (no, my faith in IPhone 5 series is very little) and is experiencing the same audio problem as described above. Everyone does things a little differently. I love to "jam " along with iTunes ( or old Lp's) . Always have. That's where/how I've learned to play .
I'm sure leonieDF is giving a proper way to jam along on a keyboard with an iTune. He blows my mind all the time with what he knows. Nuff respects to him !
What I do is make a GB project I call "Jam With". I'll make several new tracks that are blank. Just has a few instruments named in the blank tracks. You can change those per song ...
Because I'm not concerned about changing the pitch / key.... of the iTune or the tempo ... I can simply play along with it.
