Audio issues from FCP to Compression to DVDSP regarding 24p

This has probably been asked before. I exported my 2 hour Anamorphic 24p movie into Quicktime self contain with Audio. Once I run through compressor (.m2v and .ac3) And import the files into DVDSP, on the track it progressively goes out of sync. Its good in the beginning and then it gradually goes out of synce. Please Help.

if your audio is in sync with the video only for the first second or so, and then gets more off as time goes by, it may be that your video is at 24fps and your audio is at 29.97 or 30. also, did you check the original move your exported (the one that went to compressor) to see if the audio was synced there?

Does anyone know how to export (or convert to) and AC3 audio file from FCP? My compressor is not currently working, is there another way? I have Sorenson Squeeze and FCP 5.0.4. Thank you!!!
    alex

Upload your audio file to my Public folder and wait 20 mins. I'll compress the audio to .ac3 for you if you're in a crunch. Check back in my Public Folder and I'll have it there for you.

  • Best Qualilty From FCP into Compresser

Ok, So ive filmed a short 6 min video in HDV 1080i60,and edited in that format, now because most of my clients DVD players don't read HDDVD I must compress it to something readable for SDDVD with out losing any of the quality. Now Ive tried MPEG-2 and it's crap, so ive tried numerous differnt formats and the best that ive come up with is JPEG-PHOTO. 1. Is their anything better then this?
    2. Should I just transfer back onto my DV tape and go to a post house and get them to transfer on to DVD or will they have the same problem?
3.Can I Have and HD format and SD format on the same DVD so when it's inserted to HDDVD or SDDVD it can read it?
    Any Answers would be greatful?
    Thanks

DVD with out losing any of the quality. Now Ive tried MPEG-2 and it's crap, so ive tried numerous differnt formats and the best that ive come up with is JPEG-PHOTO. 1. Is their anything better then this?
It needs to be MPEG 2 for SD DVD. Export from FCP uncompressed. Then use the best settings in Compressor. Bring into DVD SP and set track to 16:9 letter box. If you have more details on the footage and workflow it helps (settings, compression settings, type of footage, what does "crap" mean, how are you viewing things.)
    2. Should I just transfer back onto my DV tape and go to a post house and get them to transfer on to DVD or will they have the same problem?
You could but you should be abllee to get fairly good results. Also downloadd bitVice from innobits.se (they have demo) to see if that helps. Not sure how mmuch a transfer house may charge but it may cover the cost of bitVice
3.Can I Have and HD format and SD format on the same DVD so when it's inserted to HDDVD or SDDVD it can read it?
No, though the new HD players are in theorry suppossed to be backkwards compatible (HD DVD not blu ray)

  • Stereo Audio in from FCP to DVDSP

I can't seem to figure out how to create stereo audio when compressing from FCP5.
    My workflow...
I export my timeline using compressor
I pick and export such as DVD 150 minutes best
I choose all so that I have MPEGS, AIFF and Dolby AC3
    I generally don't change settings
Once my files are compressed I drag the AC3 file into the timeline.
There is every possiblity that I am doing it wrong. I've winged my way through DVDSP with little training and a complete lack of understanding of the manual--dang that thing is hard to make sense of!
    Thanks for the help!

    michelle:
your export seems to be correct. when you create a track in DVDSP, you can include either the AIFF version of the audio or the AC3. AC3 takes up less space on the DVD, so you can use it to save space on the final output or just to lower your overall bit rate.
now that you've got your assets, create a new DVDSP project, and go to the Assets tab and click the Import... button. select all three media items. display the default track and you should then be able to drag the audio and video into its timeline.
however, if that's not working, why is that? does the audio appear (in green i think) in the track's timeline and when you play it back you just don't hear anything? or does the track reject the action of dragging the AC3 media into it?
also note that the upper portion of the track is for video, the lower parts are for the audio (primary audio, then going down the list for alternate languages).
if none of these are your problem, post more details so we can get you fixed up!
    later,

  • Audio transfer from fcp

i have a couple of questions. sent one channel of audio to stp and it opens there as stereo. how to stop that?
i can't seem to send a portion of a clip. stp keeps downloading the entire thing w/ the video. i am new at stp and i want to practice w/ small segment of audio.

Take a look at the manual.
There are two ways to "send" to STP. One is sending a single clip, the other is sending the entire multitrack.
a track shows up in STP in stereo only because that's what it was originally. A stereo track has two channels, left and right-unlike FCP where every channel is on a separate track. It all makes sense when you look at it from a sound for picture mixing perspective.
You need to decide what you're going to do first, and then send it to STP in the appropriate manner.

  • I can't get any audio playback from FCP X (or Premier Pro for that matter)…

When I playback a clip with audio it shows good level in the meters but I get no sound from any device (internal speakers, USB headphones, 3.5mm Headphones etc etc). If I render out a clip the audio is there and plays back in QuickTIme.app.
There are a few suspicious things like not being able to adjust the Master level slider in Sound Prefs, it's locked to Max position. I first became aware of this problem when I left After Effect and went to Premiere Pro to do an video comp that AE was choking on. PPro handled it well but no sound. Decided to try doing it in FCP X even though the interface is hard for me to 'get' striaght away I found stuff online about travel mattes but still no sound. Very frustrating I have a deadline — don't we all ;-)
    Any ideas?
I uninstalled SoundFlower just in case. No difference. In the Audio MIDI Setup Utility.app, PremierPro and After Effexts come up as discrete devices:
About to try zap the PRAM can't think what else to do although I found an article that says trash the audio prefs one by one.

  • 720p DVCPROHD footage from FCP to AFTFX to DVDSP, need info ?

I have a bunch of HD footage shot at 720p 30f DVCPROHD , that is going onto a dvd.
I edited it in Final cut, then exported out of FCP as a FCP proxie file (bascially A/V exporting -not making a self contained QT so I wouldnt have to render it 2x) , did my effects in after effects and now want to render it from AFTX and keep the best possible looking file to put into compressor so It will look great once its spit out as a mpeg.
I am currently rendering using the uncompressed QT 10bit - 4:2:2 codec out of AFTFX, which I have been led to believe will retain the best quality of the DVCPROHD footage.
Is this the best way out & into compressor ? any suggestions would be appreciated.Thx

    David
Thanks for the info, I may try bitVice on my Intel Machine instead. (Not sure if you saw my posts about running Cinema Craft or Procoder in Parrallels on the MacBook Pro, very fast, on Cinema Craft usually 1.5 - 2 x real time on each pass)
Also DVCProHD footage is better to work in post -- at least to us.
Jerry mentioned something about that in the FCP forum. Right now in the middle of projects so I stay away from swtiching horses in midstream, but he said either capturing that way from HDV source or even letting FCP convert it does a good job with no real loss of quality from the HDV that he noticed. I may try that on some "for fun" things I have around.
it is what video should be.

For both the Tower and the Camera. Played with a tower a bit at the store. The ability to switch the HDs alone looks like it is worth the price of admission compared to the G5 system, the tray mechanism seems like the easiest Apple has come up with in any Tower. I am holding off a bit in case the 8 Core machine is really coming down the pike (and I cannot fully justify a new machine quite yet )
    Again thanks for the info.

  • Random audio dropouts from FCP 4 to Quicktime Movie

Never experienced this headache before, until today...
I've built my project as per usual in FCP4 - no problem. Then I exported project as Quicktime Movie for iDVD4 but I noticed that audio disappeared in two different sections - each portion of silence lasting a minute or so.
I went back to FCP and exported a new Quicktime Movie - almost the same result only audio disappeared in a different section for three minutes or so. Back to FCP and I built my project on a new timeline (Sequence) - same result when I exported to Quicktime but again, dropouts occur in different sections.
At present, I'm exporting each of the 10 Sequences that make up my project as separate Quicktime Movies and so far, I've completed 2 with no audio dropouts.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this problem?

  • Please help me .....Facing the issue from long back....Regarding  0FIGL_V10

    Hi All,
    I am working on FI..
I am using the cube 0FIGL_V10 which is Virtual Cube related to Balance Sheeet and Profit and Loss, which has to get the data from Basic Cube 0FIGL_C10..
This Basic Cube having the full data..
as per the clients requirement, Queries on 0FIGL_V10 are requied.... those are 0FIGL_V10_Q0001, 0FIGL_V10_Q0002 and 0FIGL_V10_Q0003...
While running the query, i am getting the error message like
    <b>Abart Characterstics 0PSEGMENT, 0SEND_CCTR and 0OI_LEDGER are available in the InfoCube...</b>
i have checked the definition of Query in help.sap.com, there won't be any objects like this.....
Even i have Checked Function Module i.e RS_BCT_FIGL_DATA_GET_VC10, in this under the import tab my Basic Cube has maintined.. i.e 0FIGL_C10..
Please anybody explain me...... Your help will be very much useful to me...
    It is very urgent....
    Regards,
    Kiran Telkar

    Hi Kiran,
As there are few changes to the infoprovider of these queries, you are getting the errors that you have mentioned.
We have created a note for this issue but still it is not yet released for customers.
As a work around you can do the following to remove the errors:
    1. Open these queries in 'Query Designer' (in BEx) then it will give
an option to Repair. Then click on 'Repair' and save the query. This
will remove the 2 errors (below) and check the same by executing the
    query in RSRT.
Characteristic 0PSEGMENT no longer exists in InfoProvider
Characteristic 0SEND_CCTR no longer exists in InfoProvider
    2. Now, remove the filter Ledger in Query Designer by deleting it and
then save the query. Now execute the query in RSRT you cannot see the
    errors.
After the changes to the infoprovider, queries were not adjusted but now you can use the above mentioned work around to remove the errors. Please check the output result and then let me know your observations as I want to know whether the queries gives the correct result in a business sense.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Missing Audio from FCP to Soundtrack Pro in Final Cut Studio 2

I've been trying to edit a sequence from Final Cut Pro 6 in Soundtrack 2 by sending the sequence to soundtrack as a multitrack project. For some reason, when I send it, multiple audio files from the original sequence are completely missing, and I have no clue why. They're .mov files from the original import of footage.
Anyone know why these don't transfer and how to fix it?

    Hi
I too have had trouble with Audio from FCP 6 messing up in STP 2. My opinion is that the process works if the audio tracks in FCP are either Mono sourced or stereo sourced and are never relinked, split to mono (in the case of stereo files) in FCP during editing. God forbid you unpair a stereo track and delete one channel!
Once in STP I have had occasions where non audio appears, the wrong track appears... or sometimes the wrong audio!
Once in a while double clicking on the offending clip in STP to open it in a Wave window seems to show the right audio. Either saving it of closing the window ( command/w) restores the right material to the clip in STP.
You could right click on the audio in FCP and "send to STP Audio Project". Hopefully the correct audio is opened in STP. Then save it. Now re-export the Multitrack project and see if the audio makes the trip.
Or, you could export the Audio directly from FCP, then import it into STP and position it against the video manually.
One warning : once things start going pear shaped in the FCP-STP workflow, it's my experience that I'm fighting problems all the way. It's why I don't use STP for FCP mixing .... I want to, but its too risky.
    I hope V3 is better.

  • Importing audio from FCP

Is there a way to import audio projects from FCP into logic keeping the automation that the video editor has made?
Is there a file format other than OMF that contains the automation. and can FCP export it and can logic read it?
Is there a 3rd party application that can convert?
Or do I have to go back to the bad old days of Pro Tools (or worse, Soundtrack "pro")? PT LE is limited for soundtrack production, isn't it?
Is there anyone doing serious audio post production on logic, and if so, how are the projects imported?

The problem with exporting to AIFF, is that you can't crossfade between your cuts, or normalize regions. Your just stuck with the FCP raw mix. This is OK if your cut is relatively simple and you've already crossfaded and blah, but if you've got all kinds of dynamics going on, and different types of recording, you're definitely going to want more control over the export.
The problem with OMF, is that it doesn't translate well into LP. This seems to be a regular thing coming up on threads, apparently it works better with other audio editors but not LP. I've found that despite specifying handles on my export, non appear thus making crossfading impossible, you just get the same glitches your trying to eliminate.
HOWEVER the great thing is that apple invented their own format XML, an apple interchangeable file format. If you import this to LP, you get REGIONS like in FCP that reference the original files on your HD, which means you can now CROSS FADE, and NORMALIZE.
That makes me happy. I like it.

  • HDV1080i60 (FCP) ? (Compressor) ? (DVDSP)

I am having a time figuring out a workflow shooting on HDV. I am in Studio 1 (still...ugh)
    1. I captured my video as it was shot, HDV1080i60 (16x9).
    2. After editing and applying GFX, I am looking to do 2 things: *output the best quality to DVD, *output to the web (blip.tv) in 16x9 format.
Can anyone please tell me the best workflow from there to achieve these 2 routes I want to go? I know this is wrong, but I have been taking the vid from FCP and compressing in SD to bring it into DVDSP to burn off. This is obviously defeating the purpose of shooting in HDV and my picture is getting forced to 4:3.
    Please Help!!!

I'd guess the markers need a name.  There's always a name by default.  You could have just duplicated your sequence and just deleted all the markers going to the file menu:  markers:  delete all.
But I guess it's too late for that.

  • Omf from fcp to pro tools

    Hello there,
Just finished offline of a feature film and done also the premix on FCP 5.0.4
now I will export it as OMF to work at OMNIMIX. They say pro tools won't recognise the sound clips as individual clips but as whole tracks instead.
Is this correct? and while mixing, using an omf file causes decrease in the quality of the sound.
The sound was recorded live on location to a Fostex pd6 dvd. All the sound is copied to the HD.
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi hande,
now I will export it as OMF to work at OMNIMIX. They
say pro tools won't recognise the sound clips as
individual clips but as whole tracks instead.
    Is this correct?
No. Audio clips from FCP import as seperate audio regions in Protools, at the correct timecode locations.
and while mixing, using an omf file
causes decrease in the quality of the sound.
As Michael said, there is no quality loss. How could there be? It references/copies from, the same media files.
I agree that you may want to look elsewhere for this service. Mixing and mastering audio for video is my most commonly provided service, I can tell you with confidence that It sounds like your folks at Omnimix have never done this before.
Also, if you've done a reference mix in FCP, render that to an mp3 or something and send it along with. Can't hurt.
    Good luck.

  • Audio missing in FCP after export

    Hi
So I have an audio track in FCP which I sent to STP and added a limiter and reduce noise filter to. Saving it and going back to FCP I notice that 2 seconds are missing from the end of the audio.
I sent the referenced clip with no handles.
Now my sound is out of sync.
    Thanks
    Joe

Did you do a Send to a Multitrack Project?
STP expects to see 48k audio coming from FCP and send aiff 48k back as an exported file.
