Audio issues -- Print to Video

Audio is good as print to video starts, but either drops out all together, or goes out of sync after 30 minutes or so.

The results for you may vary - but not for the goat.
If that does not help, we can progress to the Graduate solution. As Dustin Hoffman learns as the Graduate, " one word for you - audio mixdown".
Ok, so its two words and that isn't what they said anyway ... still, try to compress down the number of audio tracks (audio mixdown) to ease the computing demands on output. Also, make sure all areas where there is audio are covered by video - for example - put a black slug in the video track if you fade to black in an area where there is still audio running under.
If these don't work for you, it would help us enormously if you gave some basic info about your project. FCP version? Media type? VTR? compexity of edits? you know the stuff...

Loosing audio when printing to video

I'm working with FCE HD 3.0. I use a Powermac G5-2x1.8. Memory: 3 GB.
Systemdrive: 150 GB.
Internal scratchdrive: 280 GB.
System: Mac OSX 10.3.9. My camera is a Sony HDR-HC3.
My scratchdisk is filled with 188 GB.
I edited a 40 min. movie. When I play the timeline everything is fine.
When I print to tape I lose some parts of teh musictracks (track 5 and 6), Sometimes I even loose little parts of the clipsound (track 1 and 2).
Befor I print to video I render video and audio, use 'mixdown' and refresh videodevice.
How to get a good result?

If there is a song bought on iTune Music Store, you can't use this track.
Did you render an audio mixdown before export ?
Try a test version with just one minute of movie. (set in and out point in timeline and do the print to tape operation).
Try a print to tape from a cold start mac.
Drag your playhead around your sequence before printing (it's seem that this process load the cahe memory, at least in my own experience)
If the problem is still there, you can also do an audio track mix quicktime conversion export (aiff 16 bit) from your sequence, import it into a new sequence, open your previous edited one in editor (option clik), do uncheck audio A1 and A2 target, and drag the video content on V1 in the new sequence. Drag your exported audio on A1 A2.
Do a check for the synch of your movie.
Do not forget to do an audio mixdown before print to tape.
Does your hard drive is fragmented or full at more than 80% level?

Having issues printing to video from fcp 5.1.4 to my hv20

I had unaltered, raw 1080i60 footage i shot and now i need to get it on television at 640x480 4:3 letterboxed. I feel like I've adjusted all the correct settings yet I'm still having issues. I have my hv20 connected via firewire and set to play mode. I go to print to video, have 30 seconds of bars and tone and no video shows up on the camcorded - only sound. After the bars disappear I the first few seconds of the video play before it reports an ett/ptv dropped frames error. Why is this happening and why can't I get video to come into the camera?
So. Frustrating.

Audio issue with Youtube video

I am creating some videos to upload to Youtube. I am having a problem with audio. I am creating and uploading using Adobe Premiere CC and Media Encoder. When I upload the video to Youtube, I have no issues. The problem I am facing is when I play it on mobile phone, I get now audio tracks (vocal) playing through the phones speaker. I do get the audio track I rendered through After Effects. However, I can hear the vocals On a PC, Ipad etc. I can hear the vocals through a headphone plugged into the phone or via bluetooth. I am using the H.264 codec with youtube 1080 settings. Any suggestions and yes I have tried a different phone to see if it was and issue with the phone.

Audio Issues in Facetime & Video Recording

I'm having some major mic issues when using FaceTime or recording video on the iPhone 4. The sound is mainly static - you can just about hear other sounds, but it's very quiet and washed out by the static. The mic audio on calls, voice notes is fine - it's just on FaceTime and video recording.
Apple support have no idea (the agent I spoke to seemed to think it was related to my network provider and text messaging, which makes no sense whatsoever).
Anyone else had this problem? Any fixes out there?

I was right there with you. I posted early on in this thread and was working with tech support on the phone. We worked for a few days and it was like I was having to do too much work on my end. Nothing was working and they were so busy. Someone else posted that they took theirs back and it was an easy swap. I had already made an appointment at the apple store as a backup so I decided to drive the 50 miles. It was so easy....the guy really did not care too much about me working with support. He just tried a restore and was able to repeat the issue. Not saying that all stores are like that but I have had very good results with other apple products and getting support at the genius bar. Good luck...but you may be waiting a while. Seems that the hot topic for them is really the "reception" issue.

Quicktime 7.0.4 Fixes 5.1 audio issues in Quicktime video

Just FYI, the new version of Quicktime (7.0.4) will fix the 5. surround sound issues on Creative soundcards. Prior versions of Quicktime 7 would not play the center channel's audio at all.
I've talked to an engineer at Apple, and he said this is Creative's fault, and they actually had to work around/figure out their own fix to it. Go figure.

Well, it doesn't really matter what I think, I suppose.. In the end, I wasn't able to play 5. sound through Quicktime + Creative hardware for nearly a year. That's really pathetic. Someone at Creative or someone at Apple dropped the ball... and the consumer paid for it. I actually spent a chunk of change upgrading my soundcard to an X-Fi, thinking it would fix the Quicktime issue.
I contacted Creative via technical support, begging them to look into the issue and talk to Apple to get it resolved, but I essentially got a "that's third party software, and we can't do anything about it" answer. Hah, that's funny. I guess they're expecting no-one to use their soundcard? You'd think they'd be anxious to hear about applications that don't work 00% with their hardware.
On the other hand, on contacting Apple's technical support, I actually was able to e-mail a Quicktime engineer back/forth... and he stated that they had found the cause of the bug and it would be fixed in the (now released) new version. That's when he also told me it was due to something specific with Creative's drivers/hardware. Who knows if he's lying/exagerrating/whatever. All I know is that my Creative soundcards did not work in 5., while all other soundcards I had laying around did..
Anyhow, it's fixed now, so I'm a happy camper.

Apple TV Audio Issues with itunes Videos

Hi Guys,
i am really hoping someone can help me with this as its driving me crazy and i cant seem to find anyone else with a similiar issue in the vast rececess of the interenet. Up in my Studio i have a 2010 imac with everything up to date in terms of updates, hooked up to that i have my lacie external hardrive that contains all my tv shows and films that i have ripped from dvds using Handbrake on apple TV settings.
Downstairs i have a 3rd generation apple TV hooked up to my Sony TV via HDMI, the apple TV is connected directly to a network port in the wall and so is the imac, I use the computer tab on apple TV to watch the films and shows stored on my lacie on my TV downstairs and everything works beautifuly EXCEPT every now and then i will add a new show or film to my itunes and for some reason my apple TV doesnt like it very much!
for example; i have ripped and converted three seasons of father ted to my hardrive and added it to my itunes, it plays perfectly on my imac using itunes, but when i click to view it on the apple TV downstairs the audio has been sped up! the picture is running at normal speed... i have also had a few shows play fine on the imac and yet when they play on apple TV the audio is about 3 seconds ahead of the picture.
Its very frustrating as its random and i cant find a solution to it, and i can normally figure these things out! i have tried:
- reconverting the shows and adding to itunes
- deleting from itunes, resetting apple TV and itunes and adding them again
- looking for any similarities in the files affected
im getting NOTHING!
any ideas or help would be massively appriciated as im at a loss as to what to try next!

Managed to solve this problem myself, it turns out that the files that were causing issues had two audio tracks attached, when the file is loaded i press and hold the middle button to bring up the options, from there press right to the middle tab and change the audio from surround to normal and it plays at normal speed, i have no idea why it was doing this but i can now watch ALL my material finally! hopefully this helps someone else!

Audio issues when editing video clips

Sorry if this been asked before and I’m having trouble looking for the answers on my own. I will start by saying that I have the latest built of Premiere and that’s CS4.2
I’m trying to edit 720 60p clips natively from my Panasonic GH1 camcorder and I have it set to interpret footage to 29.97 for slow motion. Its edits very well but sometimes when I use the razor tool to split a file, the second part of that clip will no longer play the audio. I even noticed a clip that had the audio missing half way when I didn’t even use the razor tool. Another time it was several clips in a row that was missing the audio.
This isn’t the first time. I was trying to edits clips on standard speed and I noticed that one of the clips couldn’t play the audio. I ended up saving everything and restart Premiere and luckily the audio was their. This time, with the slow motion clips, restarting Premiere is no help at all. I could start over on a fresh time line but I want to see if theirs any other solutions first.
I hope I was clear enough.

This is a shameless bump to get someone to attempt to give me an idea what to do... or even tell me a better way to copy DVD that I own onto an IPod

Weird audio issue when printing to video

I am attempting to dub a couple of old projects to tape using the Print to Video command (firewire connection to Panasonic DVX-100A MiniDV camera). I have used this method many times in the past with success. However, I have now tried two different projects tonight and had the same strange issue: The project plays back perfectly normally in the timeline, through the computer speakers, but when I Print to Video, there will be one part where a small audio "blip" can be heard. It sounds like either a snippet of tone or the sound of un-rendered audio... except it's all rendered.
Anybody have any suggestions? It's really weird that it plays back something different in Print to Video than it does in regular playback... Any help is appreciated.

Print to Video - No Video, but Have Audio

I have a Sony DSR-45A Deck and having issues.
I'm able to log and capture fine and able to print to video. However, when I go to print to video, it starts recording and I get the audio, but no video signal. I don't even have signal when I turn the external video on.
I used it earlier this week and was working fine. It has happened before and I've just restarted and it was fine. Any ideas? The video I printed to Video this week doesn't work, so know it isn't a frame rate issues.
Thanks for any help or suggestions. I've been reading all morning and can't find any one with this problem.

If you're getting audio but no video, make sure the deck is set to accept the proper video format (DV-CAM?) in.
Also, you may have to reset things by shutting everything down, plugging your firewire cable in first, then turning on the deck, and then starting up the mac and launching fcp.

Having trouble with audio edit to tape, print to video ok

Hi all, please go easy on me, this is my first post.
I am having difficulty getting audio on to tape via 'edit to tape'.
The hardware is blackmagic decklink extreme, feeding component video and analoge audio to a UVW-1800P.
I can do a print to video on a crash record and the audio works that way, but edit to tape does not.
I have tried both deck link and built in audio in the audio settings and the FCP a/v settings, seperate and ganged output settings, I have set the insert settings to 2 channel Sony, reloaded the decklink drivers.
The irritating thing is the audio is there whilst cutting, but as soon as I try edit to tape there is complete silence. The important thing is that it worked a few weeks back but does not now, it must be a setting?

I had this same problem and this resolved it for me:
-Go to your "Settings" icon and click on the "General" tab.
-About 2/3 way down the page you will see "Use side switch to:" - make sure "mute" is checked rather than "lock rotation."
-Then make sure the side switch, located next to the volume toggle switch on the side of your ipad, is moved to the right (no red dot showing).
My audio worked fine in embedded videos after I did those two things. Hope it works for you.

Printing to Video, Audio but no Video!

He said he found a switch that was making his deck monitor black. Did he find that on FCP?
When I go to print to viewer, there is action to my camera from FCP (everything turns black on the camera)
Seems like the on computer playback is fine with audio.
But no Video on the camera viewer.
When I hit escape it shows one single frame on the camera from the computer playback.
What do I do? Tried all settings and even some settings that don't even match my AV deck.

I was working with 24p material... you need to have a 29p. timeline in order to export...
had no idea...

Audio is Muted after Cancelling Print to Video

I was in the process of Printing to Video, and then cancelled it. After doing so, now when I check my project on the timeline, there is no audio. I checked to see if the mute button was checked and it wasn't.
Any help on restoring audio would be appreciated.

Change the View>Video>Firewire to Real Time or Canvas playback.
Or close FCE remove the camera and re-open FCE.

Print-To-Video audio beeps

I'm printing a sequence to tape and all is going fine until, at one spot, I hear a few seconds of audio beeps. It's similiar to when audio tracks aren't rendered.
I went back to my sequence, but there's nothing there to be rendered. I play through the sequence and there're no audio beeps.
Any idea why this would occur when I do a print-to-video?

How many audio playback real-time tracks are set in User Preferences, and how many tracks are there at that point in the sequence?
Try adding a couple or four tracks in User Preferecnes and see if that squares it away.

No audio when I print to video

Video is fine, in AV settings I have Firewire audio selected. Audio sounds fine from timeline but when I print to video i get nothing not even a tone with bars at beginning of print down. I've tried different cameras so I'm thinking it is a setting in FCP that I don't have right... Any suggestions? could something like this be the cable I'm using or a weird Firewire problem like not enough power because too many devices are plugged in? I know that the "official" word is (with puffed out chest) Firewire can handle up to blah blah blah devices, But my experience with Firewire is that it is finicky. So, just wondering if it could be something like that. Off to do some experimenting...
Ive tried unplugging all other firewire devices and works fine on my powerbook with what seems to be the same settings...?
