Audio Jack Makes fuzzy static popping sounds

So whenever I watch youtube/netflix, i plug in my earphones in the audio jack. I've realized whenever im watching netflix or listening to music, there's a fuzzy popping type sound. Its not the earphones because ive used different ones. Can somebody help me please!?

Hello @magicmikeeeeeew,
I have read your post on how your headphones make a fuzzy / popping sound when watching netflix and youtube on your notebook, and I would be happy to help you!
For further assistance, I will need to know:
If the same sound can be heard from your notebook's speakers.
If the same sound can be heard from playing a video or music file from Windows Media Player.
The Product and Model Number of your notebook computer.
The version of Windows you have installed on your computer.
If your computer has completed all of its important Windows Updates.
If you have updated your HP drivers using the HP Support Assistant.
If this is an on-going, or recent issue.
Please re-post with the necessary information, this way I will be able to research this further for you. I look forward to your reply!
Cheers!

So in the last few days I’ve noticed that pressing my volume change keys actually isn’t changing the volume on my macbook pro at all. When I press the volume up or down keys, it makes the recognisable pop sound but stays at the same volume while the squares go up or down. I mute it but my computer still makes sound. It’s the same with the volume control up the top of the screen, too. I slide it up and down and it doesn’t change the volume at all. The only way I can change the volume is with my speakers or the program I’m in (iTunes, VLC etc). I restarted and it seems to be okay then I go to change it a couple minutes later and it’s back to not working again.
I’ve checked my settings- the “use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard fuction keys” is not switched on, and I have tried a suggestion of moving the com.apple.systempreferences.plist file out of the library and onto the desktop and restarting and neither of those seem to make any difference whatsoever. I’ve tried to find online forums but the only suggestions I found were those two and they didn’t work.
I’m just annoyed because I usually have the worst luck with technology but my macbook had been going strong and I got it because of the apparent lack of things that could go wrong, but of course even if there is one thing that could go wrong it will happen to me.
    Please help!

  • Audio is always making a popping sound

I have had iTunes for quite awhile now, but I have had an issue since the first time I installed iTunes on this new computer. It is the only audio player that makes a crappy mp3 POPPING sound, no matter weather it is a purchased song, an imported CD or what ever. It drives me nuts. When I use this computer to update or upload to my iPod, my iPod works fine. This has to be some type of setting that is causing this. Any ideas???

Try to reinstall the new iTunes version or click help/check for updates. I got these pops too, whem my cpu usage is too high. Hit CtrlAltDel (Taskmanager) click on the process tab, select itunes, rightclick it, select change process priority, high.

  • Audio jack from laptop outputting louder sound on the Right

My laptop which is an HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC with Windows 8.1has been outputting louder sound from the audio jack louder on the right earpud/headphone side than the left (or the left side is softer than the right). The sound outputs normally from the build in speakers though.
The speaker properties on it has both sides balanced on the volume output. I have tried resetting the BIOS and deleting the sound card drivers from Device Manager in the Control Panel. Also I've tried deleting the driver, redownload a new one, turning off the laptop, take out the battery and drain the power, then start pressing Esc...F10...F5...and so on steps (for the people that will tell me to do this).
Is there any other solution (besides resetting the laptop completely)?

  • Static, Crackles, and Pop Sounds

I have a Sound Blaster PCI Express X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card?(.04.0000 Drivers) and it makes crackles and pop sounds when:
    - I'm watching a video online in fullscreen (for example: Youtube, Gamespot, IGN)
    - When I'm watching any video in fullscreen on Windows Media Player
    - When playing a certain DVD or CD rom (for example, a movie or a music cd) the sound will go all static
    - The sound will also crackle and pop in other programs when a movie or music DVD/CD is in my dri've, but not in use
    - Certain games are unplayable because of all the static sound (for example: Starcraft)
    - When I play?Street Fighter IV and Battlefield Heroes, I don't experience crackling or popping, but rather?poor sound quality (it's like sound coming from very bad?speakers with no bass).
    My specs are:
    Windows XP Professional SP3
    Intel Core i7 @ 2.67Ghz
    3 GB DDR3 Ram
HIS Radeon HD 4870 52 MB
    Asus P6T Delxue Motherboard
I have disabled EAX Effects, X-Fi CMSS-3D, and X-Fi Crystalizer in the Creative Console. The sound card is currently in my PCIe x6 slot. I have tried putting it in my PCIe x4 Slot, but I get the same problems. Also, when I plug in my mic, it does not work! Why is that? and how can I get rid of these crackles, pops, and static noises?

Turns out I'm not very familiar with the Xtreme Audio cards which I'm pretty sure don't have an X-Fi chip, just some X-Fi algorithms in software. I'm not sure how much help I can provide. Have you tried CL Support?
What are you using for speakers?
If you get complete static, that could be attempting to send an encoded track like Dolby Digital, DTS, DTS CD Audio, to analog speakers. That would be a matter of making sure the player software settings are correct.

  • Mac mini makes popping sounds when sleeping

I have a 2009 mac mini running eye tv with the analogue 3.5 output to a stereo system. Every time it sleeps it makes a regular popping sound - every 5 seconds or so... other than that everything works fine but it has just become annoying enough to post this.
Anyone else had this issue? Know of any fixes?
    Thanks

As an experiment, try turning off Airport and Bluetooth on the mini and see if the pop goes away. If it goes away, turn them back on one-at-a-time to see if one or the other makes a difference.

  • Brand new AppleTV with static popping

I just bought my AppleTV and to my dismay it was s%$*t. Before I continue, I just want to say that I have everything Apple except AppleTV. I'm an engineer by background and I have set up all kinds of electronics you can imagine, so what I'm about to describe is not due to some noob screw-up
Here's what happened: After getting it earlier today from the Apple Store in Infinite Loop, I went home and set it up for the first time. It was a direct connect to my big screen 1080p LCD tv using HDMI.  No genius required there. During the initial menu screen/start-up, I started hearing static popping sounds through my TV speakers. Audiophiles refer to it as audio clipping, but for the sake of forum tag searches I will call it "popping sounds". My LCD video signal also started clipping and I was worried that something could fry. I don't need to explain further. I continued with the setup (wifi, language, settings) until I finally got to the apps. The whole time it was clipping at random intervals. I have no doubt it's because of the AppleTV electronics. There are no other variables here. It's direct-connect (not through a receiver) and yes I tried different HDMI cables. No, it's not my HDMI cable, I have the best of them. This has to be some really bad electronics in the device that's sending this type of interference (or not filtering properly).  I had two Rokus and a Logitech smarttv in the same inputs running for months prior to this purchase and have not once had any kind of audio clipping or popping or static signals. I searched the forum and it seems to be pretty common, with many remedies being offered here and there, such as turning the Dolby NR off, or seting the sound to 16-bit, or some other voodoo. The empirical evidence is already here in the forums that there's a problem with this device, so my device can't be an outlier or some busted-up instance. AppleCare, if you're reading this check your rate of return statistics and reason for returns of the for AppleTV, might give a clue. Tim Cook, please fix this AppleTV. This is so against the Apple user experience I have come to expect.  I still admire your products.

I have the Apple TV 1080p, 3rd Gen. I decided to reseach the whole white noise, static noise that happens to come out when I'm watching certain movies.
    My setup:
Running audio out digital optical to a RCA converter to my Bose speakers:
    To
Whenever watching Netflix movies, or HBO on demand, I get that noise.
To Fix the issue in this situation that I have,
found on Apple's site: just go to your audio setup where it says, "dolby digital"  and have it turned to off.
That fixed my issue. Since I'm only running stereo to a 2 speaker system why have the 5.1 surround sound on?
Keep in mind this is great to have on if you are running a surround sound system and or a amplifier that can handle a optical cable.
    Hope this helps for some!

  • Premiere Pro CS5 Creates a Pop Sound! :(

I have two editing machines. My main editing machine has no problems like this.
My new one is an Asus G75VX with great specs. Everything is great so far with editing video from my Sony HDR CX550V accept the audio has a very subtle pop sound in it when playing back through premiere and no matter how I export it there is a pop sound in the same places. Even if I "match sequence settings" i got it in the exported file.
The original file does not have any of the pop sounds. Here are the file properties:
    File Path: E:\Video Projects\Video Files\Nashville\3-22-2013\20130321224040.m2ts
    Type: MPEG Movie
    File Size: 518.9 MB
    Image Size: 1920 x 1080
    Pixel Depth: 32
    Frame Rate: 29.97
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - 6 channels
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - 6 channels
    Total Duration: 00;03;13;06
Average Data Rate: 2.7 MB / second
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
This doesn't happen when I play the original file through Sony Picture Motion or any other player. But, when I play the exported premiere file through anything it has the subtle pops...
Please help, this is really holding me back!!!

Yes, non-Zero-Crossings can introduce "pops," as you mention. I have requested that same Audition Cut on Zero-Crossings function.
Often with the Timeline set to Audio Units, Snap OFF, and some tight editing, a non-Zero-Crossing glitch can be eliminated, but that Audition function would be wonderful.

  • Bubble Popping Sound???

I have a new MacBookPro, and it occasionally makes a bubble popping sound, loud and out of the speakers.
It is very annoying, and I'd like to shut it off, but I can't figure out what it is or what it signifies. It is not the "checking email" twang that I already shut off.
FYI, I am running MSOffice Entourage, Skype and Firefox, nothing else when I hear the sound.

    > bubble popping sound
    Open System Preferences/Sound
    Click [Sound Effects] tab
Uncheck 'Play user interface sound effects'
    Close the pane

  • No switching between buildin speaker and audio jack

    Hey everyone,
I have a X200 with a build in Conexant 20561 SmartAudio HD. Driver Version is 4.92.12.0.
The Computer doesn't switch any more between the build in speaker and the audio jack. I do have a signal on the jack, but the speaker doesn't work.
If I have plug my headphones to the audio jack, I can hear the sound properly and the green bars in the Control Panel / Sound / Playback menu indicate that there is indeed sound.
However, if I don't have a plug in the audio jack, these green bars stay dead.
Does anyone have any idea, how I can fix this?
Any hint or help is greatly appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Tao

Actually that's the issue! Or part of it. You fix things, it works for a while and then stops working without you changing anything. And then it starts working again...

  • Audio jack

    Audio jack  no signal

As in no sound? Did you inadvertantly turn the sound down? Did you mute the device? (there's a little switch under the volume rockers that can serve as an 'all mute')
Beyond that, a little more info would be helpful. What are you trying to do? what are the symptoms?

  • Headphone Audio Jack Popping Sound

    Hi Everyone,
I bought this used 17” 2.0 GHz iMac G5 just over a year ago. I usually have the iMac plugged into an amplified stereo system, which works great. But today for the first time I plugged in a set of headphones into the audio out jack and only got a constant popping sound with no computer sound what so ever. There was a significant lightning storm a week ago. I’ve never plugged in a headset before today so I don’t know when the problem started - it may have been there when I bought the machine. The internal speakers work fine as do the stereo speakers.
Has anyone else out there come across this problem? Was there any way to fix it? - Thanks!
    Christopher

Looks ok to me, but check this site as well.

  • My Ipad 2 external speakers does not work and headphones has popping sound. This all occured at the same time as my Iphone and Ipod headphones only played mono (no, the "mono" option is not on). How can there be audio issue for all these devices?

My IPad 2 external speaker does not work and the original headphones have popping sound when used. This all occurred at the same time as my IPhone and IPod headphones only plays mono (and no, the "mono" option is not on) with the original headphones, as well as, other headphones tested.  How can there be audio issue for all these devices at the same time?
As you may have noted from the list of Apple devices I own, I believed in the Apple and the products it was producing; but it is hard to believe from my experience and the other voices within the Apple Community that we are all experiencing the same hardware issues. Especially since I recently, I upgraded to an IPhone 4g (no, my faith in IPhone 5 series is very little) and is experiencing the same audio problem as described above. So now, I am off to the Apple store again to be told that it’s a hardware problem on new IPhone. Really? Apple, what happen to the pride in the product you were producing?

Everyone does things a little differently. I love to "jam " along with iTunes ( or old Lp's) . Always have. That's where/how I've learned to play .
I'm sure leonieDF is giving a proper way to jam along on a keyboard with an iTune. He blows my mind all the time with what he knows. Nuff respects to him !
What I do is make a GB project I call "Jam With". I'll make several new tracks that are blank. Just has a few instruments named in the blank tracks. You can change those per song ...
Because I'm not concerned about changing the pitch / key.... of the iTune or the tempo ... I can simply play along with it.
    Peace,
    P. Dreadie
