  • Audio Jack Problems

Hello everyone, I have a 5th generation iPod that has a bad audio jack, are there any quick fixes for this? The audio works fine in the left ear but does not in the right, if i put heavy pressure on the male 3.5mm connector to an angle then it works but while left alone it will not work with both ears. I have owned the iPod for a long time but the audio jack dying happened a few weeks off warranty and I was quoted an obscene price for a repair. I had initially gone through 2 ipod videos while on warranty. For $250.00 I would expect much higher durability during this products short life. I have bought mp3 players for easily half that price and has lasted twice as long.
I am just so disappointed in my iPod it isn't even funny. To me, this isn't just buying an mp3 player, it's an investment, it's a product that will become a major part in my life. After this died, I ended up getting a 4gb nano and the same thing just happened to me today. I have taken good care of both iPods, keeping them out of extreme heat or cold, areas that could contain high amounts of ESD for fear of having a reaction because of the metal backing on the product. I don't know if I am ever going to be able to put any faith in an apple product again after having FOUR iPods with problems.

Unfortunately, it appears to a bad audio jack as you have determined. It will need to be replaced. Either you can purchase it [HERE|http://www.ipodparts.com/ipodpartscenter5g.htm] or from several other sites on the internet and then install it yourself using the instructions shown [HERE|http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/Installing-iPod-5th-Generation-Video-Headpho ne-Jack-Hold-Switch/604/1].
The other option is to send your iPod out for service to a site like [*_THIS ONE*|http://www.missionrepair.com/Mission_Repair_1st_Gen_iPod_Video_Diagnosiss/275.htm].
I recommend the latter option unless you are confident that you can do the repair yourself.

  • IPhone 5 audio jack problems

My iPhone 5 audio jack seems like it's broken or something. Every time I put my headphones in and I move them a little bit the music either pauses, changes into a different volume , only plays on one side ,or sounds like static. Is is broken? If so can it be fixed? Also it isn't the earbuds since it did the same thing when I use a brand new pair!

Bring your phone to Apple for evaluation.  If defective, it will be replaced (free of charge if within the warranty period)

  • Audio jack problem. PRAM reset has only temporary efficacy

Audio will not play through 3.5mm audio jack output unless I reset the PRAM with an audio cable plugged in. If the cable is unplugged, even for a second, then the sound output reverts to the internal speakers and I have to reset the PRAM settings once again.

  • HP m7160n front audio jack problem

I am running Vista Home on my m7160n Media Center PC.  I used to be able to plug in my headphones to the front audio jack and it would cut out the rear speaker output.  Now it doesn't!  I have gone into sound properties and is IS set to turn off rear jack, when the system detects a plug in the front jack.  The headphones still work, but i need the speakers off when using the headphones.  I hope thats enough information.

    Hi MrBassMan26,
That is odd and sounds like the jack-detect isn't working right. Did this issue just start happening? Did it occur after installing anything, even a Windows Update?
If it just started happening, you could try running a Windows System Restore to an earlier point when it worked properly. Or you could trying re-installing the sound driver or even installing an updated sound driver. That should take care of it, and if it doesn't you may need to make some configuration changes in one of the Sound properties (Windows or Realtek).
I see that you have Vista, did you by chance upgrade to Vista from XP?
Try installing the Vista sound driver from Realtek: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&Down...

  • Yoga 2 Pro audio jack problem

    Greetings,
Please know that I am not tech-savvy....at all!  I have been researching this prpblem for about a week, and did find some posts here that are similar to my problem but the 'fix' didn't work  I have owned my new Yoga 2 Pro 64 bit with Windows 8.1 (which I am not really enamored with) for two months.  All was working fine until last week.  I had been using the headset which had not given me any problems.  But when, the next day, I plugged a larger speaker into the audiojack, as I'd done before with no problems, no sound came out.  I realized that it was my laptop and not the speaker or the cable, and the speakers in the computer were workig fine.
Yesterday I plugged the headset jack in just to see if it would work, and suddenly it did--as did the larger speaker I plugged this Yoga 2 into.  But there is no sound at all if there is nothing plugged into it, i.e. no headset or external speakers are plugged in and when I play something with sound, there is none.
Additionally, the screen warning comes on and goes off at random times, stating that I just unplugged an audio device, or that I just plugged in an audio device--neither of which I did at all..
What to do?  I ran the test where I clicked on device manager, sound game etc, realtech etc, and it sai the driver is the correct one and does not need to be updated.
    Thank you.

  • Speaker/headphone/audio jack problem

I've recently been having a problem with my headphones. The computer recognizes that I've plugged them in but it still uses the external speakers and there's no sound coming through the headphones. I've tried more than one pair of headphones and it still doesn't work. Restarting the computer worked once but not anymore.

    Hi, there.
Newly purchased refurbished T430 Thinkpad with Windows 8.
Listening to music, I plugged in my headphones, everything worked just fine.
Unplugged the headphones to use on another device. Computer speakers worked fine continuing to play the music. So far so good.
But then when I went to plug the headphones back in, the computer did not switch to using the headphones to provide the sound. Just the main speakers.
The headphones make a chirping sound when plugged in (indicating the computer is recognizing the headphones).
The sound device area of the control panel indicates the headphones are working normally, but I can get no other sound from them except the "plug-in" sound.
    Assistance is welcome.
EDIT: Oh, now the headphones work, but the computer speakers do not. No consistency as to which (headphone or speaker) is going to work and when; which is frustrating.

  • Audio recording on Nokia Lumia 925

    I have just got a Lumia 925.
I always use my mobile to record brief audio messages ,usually brief notes to remind me of medical appointments etc.
How do I use the microphone on the Lumia to record audio notes?
Also,I have bluetoothed old audio messages (ones that were on my laptop, having been previously transferred from my old E71 nokia,a great phone!!) to my new Lumia. How do I access them? Where are they saved on the Lumia 925?
    All help appreciated.

  • Lumia 925, earpiece audio trouble (voice calls)

Background: I am a T-Mobile USA subscriber. Previously owned a Lumia 710, then switched to 810 when it became available. Great products; I've been very happy with both. Two weeks ago gave the 810 to another family member and got the Lumia 925.
I love the 925. The screen is great, the phone is light, and the camera amazing. Except for one thing. The first day I had the 925, I noticed that the audio from the earpiece did not no sound right. While on calls, the earpiece had a nasty buzz to it, sounding like a damaged speaker. The audio quality while on speakerphone was perfect, so I could not blame T-Mobile's network. I took the phone back to T-Mobile and they replaced it, no questions asked.
The second 925 sounded great. The earpiece audio was clear, without any buzzing or audio glitches. I was a happy man and everything was great, that is, until yesterday. Now the second 925 developed a similar bad audio quality during calls, but only from the earpiece. The speakerphone sounds fine, and using a bluetooth headset sounds fine also. It is not easy to describe the "badness" of the audio but there is a significant decrease in quality. The audio level seems to be down; with the volume all the way up, you can barely hear the other caller. The audio also has a buzzy, muffled quality to it, almost as if it is coming out of a tin can, and it is not easy to understand the caller. I tried calling my old Lumia 810 and the sound on the 810 is just fine. The trouble seems to be only the earpiece on the 925.
This morning I went back to T-Mobile and they replaced the SIM card. I'm not sure how that would help, but they said it should help if this is a network issue. That was 5 hours ago and the audio quality has not improved at all. I have also performed a full phone reset, then reloaded my previous settings, but the problem persists. At this point it appears to be a hardware issue, but it is very odd that it happened on the first 925 right away, and on the replacement one as well, but after two weeks. Beside the bad earpiece audio the phone works great. The apps work as they should, and the camera is lovely, but if I first need the device to function as a phone.
I am debating if I should try a third Lumia 925. I am a bit reluctant, as I'm afraid that it might break again. At least now it is within the 30 day return period, but what if this issue happens later? I would love to stick with Lumia but these issues with the 925 are worrisome.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

I'm having the same problem with my Nokia Lumia 925.  Voice in the earpiece audio is otherwise ok but when the other person is saying the S-letter in a word the earpiece audio makes it sound like other person is having a lisp or something. It's really annoying. Same effect comes when other person on the line is inhaling or exhaling. There is this whoosh sound the earpiece is making on S-letters, inhale - exhale sounds and on other low frequency background noices. Phone was like this from my first calls after unboxing. ...
I was thinking how to describe my audio problems with 925 but you did it perfectly! I have exactly the same problems with the S-letters, inhaling, exhaling etc. which makes every voice call more or less annoying experience.
I was thinking to replace the unit but the longer I read this thread, the more I start to think this is "a feature" i.e. bad design and/or poor HW choices. That said, ff this is so common issue, I wonder howcome there wasn't anything about this in those several reviews L925 was subjected to when it was released. Or are the reviewers so busy in testing the 'smart phone' feature that they do not spend time to mundane stuff like voice call quality.
I love the phone otherwise; looks great, has fantastic camera, crisp and cleat display - anyhow, had I known about this, I would have left this to the store.
    EDIT:
    supersape wrote:
I was making a Skype call from my Lumia 925 yesterday and with Skype the earpiece audio was clear and there was no whooshing disturbing the call. So i guess the speaker is working properly in Lumia 925 but the problem might be in 3G/4G reception (or somewhere else) that disturbs the call quality creating this whooshing in a call.
Havent' tried myself but if this is true, this starts to sound like some voice codec issue. ...which would be strange since one would think that the same speech encoding/decoding implementations are used in all Lumias so why would there be problems specifically in 925.
The good with this option would be that it's probably possible to fix with SW update. Provided that Nokia is aware of the problem or better yet, interested to anything about it.

  • Lumia 925 Audio recording stopped

My Lumia 925 audio recording has stopped working. Not working for Video surround sound recording and even WhatsApp sound recorded messages cannot go. Just hissss sound gets recorded. Can any help how to restore this?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

well, since people can hear you on a call, it's not a hardware problem with the microphone.
It appears to be something wrong with your recording apps -- the camera (in the case of video) and whatsapp.
    First attempt would be to:
    a) install another camera app with video capability and see if IT will record audio. and
    b) uninstall and reinstall whatsapp to see if that fixes the problem.
If that doesn't work, to a backup, then try a hard reset and re-install the apps one by one, confirming that recording works after each install.

  • AUDIO NOTES - LUMIA 925

I have recently transferred by bluetooth some audio notes from my old nokia E71 to my new Lumia 925.

    - Video, i transfer some of my video via windows 8 to the phone, some of it lagging while playing the video. i have try numerous video format, it is still the same. I think it is a software problem. It works fine on my old lumia.
    - Auto reboot, my phone has been reboot for 2 times, one time is after a called, another one is after i finish using my wechat application.
Lastly, i love lumia 925, i think the design and the pictures capability are what i really in love with, but i hope someone from nokia could tell me how to solve the above problems.

Hi, Di_vico. Does this mean you are not using the case anymore? Do you have a Lumia 925 as well?
As the concern is present with a case on, try doing the below steps. Let's check if these will correct it.
    1. Press and hold the volume down and the power buttons at the same time until you feel a vibration (about 10-15 seconds). Your phone will restart automatically.
    http://www.windowsphone.com/en-ph/how-to/wp8/phones-and-hardware/restart-my-phone
    2. Check that your device is running the latest software version. Go to Settings > phone update.
    http://www.windowsphone.com/en-ph/how-to/wp8/basics/how-do-i-update-my-phone-software
Make sure that all the system apps are updated. You can go to Settings > applications > store > check for updates. You can also scan the QR codes from the below link:

  • Lumia 925 noise cancelling mic problems

    I have two problem, questions:
First, I lived in Kuwait and there I bought a Nokia lumia 925 with 12 months Nokia warranty, however I moved back to my home country, is the warranty valid here too?
    -the real problem- :
Unfortunately I need it since the noise cancelling Mic does not work on it. The other microphone at the bottom of the phone works great, because during a phone call there is no problem, they hear me.
However I expected today, when I recorded a video and played it back, it was not mute, but it was like the phone would be in water, I only heard strange muffled sounds. I looked after it, I had been cleaning it for an hour: I blew air into the top microphone with a pump, with my mouth... It did not succeed, it got a little bit better, since now that strange sound is more quiet, and when I shout in it , I can hear it.
Anyway it does not even work while I am recording in the OneNote app.
It is not a solution, it is still terrible.
    Please help me!

    Hi DaGentleman,
Welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions!
Try to use the Nokia Software Recovery Tool and then check if it helps. See this link for more info: Nokia Software Recovery Tool. If that doesn't help, we suggest sending it back to a Nokia Care Point in Kuwait. Try to search it using this link: Nokia Care Point.
