Audio just a whooshing sound in PP CS5

Last night I created a sequence by importing a group of downloaded YouTube videos.  I finished the editing and it looked and sounded great.  I saved the project figuring I would go back to in the morning and export it.  When I reopened the project today everything looked the same but when I played it the audio all the way through is just making a wind-like whooshing sound.  The meters read the audio and when I click the mute button on the audio track it silences the whooshing.  I then tried importing a different track, totally unrelated to my project but got the same result.  The video files all play perfectly in Adobe Media Player and in QT and VLC.
Any ideas what this could be?
Thanks,
Paul

There is obviously an issue. The 44.1KHz is the CD standard, where 1000Hz is not at all normal.
Now, you state that when working on the Audio, things were fine, until you shut the system down. Is that correct?
When you Imported the AV files, did you get the little progress bar on Conforming, in the lower-right of the GUI?
In the Media Cache for that Project, do you have matching CFA files (the Conformed Audio)?
As a workaround, can you rip the Audio from the AV files, and then do a Save_As PCM/WAV 48KHz 16-bit? You would then Import those WAV files, replacing just the Audio of the Clips (Alt+clicking on the Audio portion). One could also just drag those WAV files to a free Audio Track, and Mute the Audio Track with those "whooshing" files.
If you have Soundbooth, or Audition, they can most likely rip the Audio, and all you then need to do is a Save_As. If you do not have either, the great, free audio-editor, Audacity, should be able to do it, as well. Just use the above specs. for the PCM/WAV files.
Good luck,

At the moment i have disconnected my speakers from the mother board i have checked all my drivers and other settings, although it is a old laptop it is upgraded and is running windows xp pro.

    Hi
You have suggested that you have fitted a new power jack on you notebook.
Possibly you have done something wrong. Maybe its something wrong with the soundcard or only the speakers are dead.

  • Problem timing slides to audio in Blu-ray slideshow in encore cs5. Help!

I'm using a 2006 mac pro 1,1 with 7GB, and I'm trying to make a blu-ray slideshow with encore cs5. There is about 20 minutes of music for 99 slides. I click "fit slideshow to audio" and the time per slide increases to about 12 seconds, which is correct, and when I preview the slideshow it
plays back correctly. But when the blu-ray or image is burned, the slides last only about a second or two each and the audio cuts off abruptly at the end of the 99th slide. This project, by the way, has two slideshows which play one after the other. Both have the same problem.
Operating System: Mac OS X (v10.6.4)
Video display card / driver version: Quadro FX4500
I examined the blu-ray file streams created by encore cs5 with VLC. The slide transitions (cross dissolve) were about 2 megabytes each and played correctly, but the slides themselves seem too short at around 300kb and don't play back at all. Video Blu-rays work fine; the problem only shows up on blu-ray slideshows. When that same slideshow is burned as a dvd, by the way, it also works fine. What's going on?

I have just the same problem with Encore CS5 running on Windows 7 64 bit:
When i create a slide show with music, the length of music defines the
length of the slide show every thing works fine when i play the e show with preview
function in Encore. When i burn it on a blu ray disk it works fine
(in sync) playing the BD disk on the PC, but when i play the BD
when i play the BD disk on a BD player (Sony BDP-S300 or BDP-S470) the music
stops many seconds before the slide show is finished.
Burning the slide show with Encore on a DVD everything works correct.

  • FLV in rollover slidelet: audio just barely not synched with video

I have several FLVs (slide videos) in my project (65 slides total) and all work perfectly except for the one that appears in a rollover slidelet. The audio just barely lags the speakers lip movement. This occurs in both Preview and Publish. I've tried various setting for the FLV and slidelet but haven't been able to get it synched up. Further complicating this is the fact that applying the 5.0.2.630 patch has essentially blown up my Captivate install (I have a separate post on that) and now sometimes when I preview this slide or view the published project, no audio at all plays. I have seen some posts indicating that these sorts of issues occur depending on system processing speeds but my system meets the Tech Specs for Cap 5.0 so I am not sure how that relates. I also wonder how I can anticipate what will happen for end users; there are probably some specs out there about that, but I admit I haven't dug those up yet. Below are the settings I'm using for the rollover slidelet. Thanks.

I'm wondering if I should update my bios. To date, I've done the following:
Upgraded  from 6 gigs of ram to 24 gigs of DDR3 1600
Added three hard drives with two of them on Raid 0. Total is 5 hard drives
Just picked up a PNY GTX-470 display adaptor
    Upgraded to CS5
This thing should be halling ***! But Multi-Camera mode is still very sluggish.

  • No audio (just beeping) when adding clip to timeline

Hi. I am almost brand-new to FCE, so hopefully this is just an easy error on my part. I am trying to make an insert edit, and the video is making it into the timeline just fine. However, there is no audio, just a loud beeping sound. Yes, the a1 and a2 tracks ARE connected, and volume is not muted. I did know to check that much. Still no audio, just beeping. Can anybody tell me what to do next?
    Thanks!

I'd suggest your best bet is to use MPEG Streamclip, a free utility (http://www.squared5.com/), to convert all your dv files to QuickTime using the settings which match your FCE Sequence.  Streamclip has a batch convert feature.

  • Audio on video export sounds like machine gun

I have an issue with a sequence. When exported there is no audio, just a sound that sounds like like a computer machine gun, a repetitive rat a tat tat. Tried different computers and codecs with same result. Audio is fine while editing and haven't ran into this one before.
AVCHD Shot with a sony handycam AVCHD 60i 29.9 sequence setting.
Audio was also captured externally with a zoom at 44khz 16bit
Also includes surround sound from Sony.
Have exported with H264 Youtube HD preset, then HD 1080p preset as well at Quicktime uncompressed.
    Running CS 5.5 just updated
    Mac OSX 6
I've turned off all the sound exported as well as removed all of the audio effects, and still got the noise, tried to export just audio as well.
This is a repost, Thanks for your help,
    Jon

Post a link to the YouTube upload so we can hear it.

  • Audio line in no sound

Hooked up an external radio to my line in. No sound from the speakers. Went to System Preferences>Sound to check things out.
Output is set to Internal Speakers
    Mute box is unchecked
I can get system sounds, cd playback and internet audio just fine
Input shows Line in as Built-in Input
Input volume set all the way up
Input level meter is reading and showing input just fine
    Mute box is unchecked
I tested the setup on my pc laptop by unplugging the connector from my iMac and inserting it into the line in connection port on the pc. Works fine on the pc.
Anything else I can do? I think I have a warranty issue, but I don't want to contact Apple unless you intelligent people agree.

    Hi jtaggart2
To pass audio from input to output you'll need something like LineIn.

If this is related to sending emails, then you can turn off the send sound: Mail > Preferences > General. Now uncheck Play sounds for other mail actions.
If this is related to iMessage, then iMessage > Preferences > Alerts > uncheck Play a sound:
If the " whoosh" sound continues, System Preferences > Audio > Sound Effects. Uncheck Play user interface sound effects.

  • Text Whoosh Sound

Since doing the IOS6 upgrade I have lost the whoosh sound that happens when a text is sent is there any way of getting it back please

You can set up specific sounds for specific functions.  If you take a look at the IOS 6 PDF Manual there is a section on setting up specific sounds.  The manual can be viewed on iBooks or you can just go look at the manual on a computer at the Apple web site.  I get the whoosh sound by default on my iPhone 5 when I send email.  I don't recall if that sound occurs while sending a text.

  • What happened to the whoosh sound on my outgoing mail?

What happened to the whoosh sound onmy outgoing mail?

    Dear Scotch27:
i am so sorry it did not work for you!  I know, it is really really frustrating, as i have been having this problem for many months!  I have not gotten Mountain Lion yet...maybe i won't!  LOL!
btw, i got this reply from another poster, on a similar forum, so i copied it here to see if it would work for you...it didn't for me, but it did, for many other posters:
Go to applications/utilities and run Audio Midi Setup.  Click the Builtin output link in the left pane click the down arrow next to the right-mast element after "Format" and change to something else, then back to what you originally had there.  All pent-up sounds will come rushing through your speakers and you'll be OK with Mail sounds until it happens again.  This worked for me in OS X 10.7 Lion; the problem seems to have been fixed in OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.  Good luck!
this post was from Chazcone, in a discussion question: "Re: "New Message" sound not playing in mail 5"....i really hope it works for you!  i think it is ridiculous, that this is obviously a KNOWN bug somewhere within apple mail (icloud?), but no one has seriously looked into it, and/or fixed it, most especially in the new ML!!!  let me know what happens, and i will pass along anything else i find to you re: this issue....good luck, and so sorry my "solution" didn't work for you!

  • Trouble getting audio files when importing R3D files into CS5.5 Prem Pro

Importing R3D files into Premiere Pro CS5.5 works for Video but the audio doesn't convert properly.   There is an audio file included in the R3D file that PP can see but it just has a few spikes.
This same file played in REDcine-X plays the video/audio just fine.   Is there some audio setting in Premiere Pro that I should be setting?
Oddly enough if I use REDcine-X to output a RED Trim file and then import it into PP, the audio file is shown separately and is imported correctly.   This of course involves a file conversion step in the workflow and a step that we are hoping to avoid.

In order to import all kinds of  r3d, we had better convert it to adobe more compaitble video format like dv, mpeg, avi
You may refer to the following step by step guide on how to convert .r3d movies at Convert R3D to ProRes, MOV, AVI, MP4, WMV, 3GP, MKV
    The guide applies to:
Convert R3D to ProRes 4444, 422, 422 (HQ), 422 (LT), and 422 (Proxy) to fast import any version of Final Cut Pro or Final Cut Pro X.
Convert R3D to MOV, MP4 to import R3D to iMovie for easy editing or to play R3D in QuickTime, iTunes, iPad, iPod, iPhone, Apple TV.
Convert R3D to AVI, WMV, MPG to edit R3D in Avid, Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas, Windows Movie Maker or play R3D in Windows Media player, Xbox 360, Microsoft Surface.
Convert R3D to FLV, WebM, H.264, MP4 for upload R3D video files to YouTube
Convert R3D to DV, VOB, ASF, SWF, RM, 3GP, OGV, FLAC, OGG, MP3, WAV, WMA, AC3, AIFF, WMA and etc.

The D610 didn't get out-of-the-box RAW support until Photoshop CC.
You can either upgrade to CC or use the DNG Converter to convert and open your DNGs in CS5.

    Turn off Voice Control.
Otherwise, basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).
