Audio keeps playing even when it doesn't show on timeline

Right, so this is my situation. I have a piece of music (3 minutes long) and I want to use a portion of that in an animation.
I made a separate layer for music only and added a keyframe. I dragged the music from the library on to the stage. The music worked and started playing. But I don't want to use all of it, so I made another keyframe to contain the music. The little red audio wave thing showed that it was only in between those two keyframes, but the music kept playing even after the second keyframe, despite that the audio wave ended beforehand. Even if I remove the frames after the second keyframe it still plays.
This is what it looks like. See how before the keyframe in the middle there's a red thing indicating sound, but after it's gone. Yeah, the audio still plays after that.

I am using Captivate 5 and have incorporated TTS voiceovers. I have an introduction slide where a voice gives the scenario, with back and next buttons. The Next button goes on to a demonstration (part of the same project) with a different voice narrating. The demo screens have a button to exit the demo at any time also. If a user is playing the scenario and selects the Back button, the second voice from the demo continues anyway, even though the demo hasn't displayed. By the same token, if you start working through the demo and exit from it using the button provided, the voice continues as if you play the rest of the demo, even if you have moved onto different slides. If you start a second demo, both voices play at the same time. I tried using the check box to turn off audio when button clicked, but that actually turns off the audio on the computer and either no audio is heard at all then, or it just turns off for that slide, then the next slide's audio plays, regardless of what screen is displayed. How do I make the audio stop if I exit the slide or slide sequence (project)?

If you navigate to slide 3 of 27. Answer the question. Then, as you read the success or failure caption, you will also hear audio associated with those captions. Now, navigate to the next page before the audio has completed playing and you will also hear the audio of slide 4 overlapping.
The audio from the success /failure captions do not stop playing when moving to the next slide. I hope there is a way around this, as I really want to have audio with the success/failure captions as well as the page audio.

Animation audio keeps playing when the next slide appears

I am inserting several SWF files (short demos created in
Captivate, each with with audio and controls) into a Captivate
project as animation objects, each on it's own frame. The problem
is that when I move to the next frame without finishing or pausing
the animation on the previous slide, the audio keeps playing over
the audio on the current frame. It becomes cacaphonic when you mvoe
quickly through multiple frames. Is there some way I can stop/pause
the audio of the previous animation when you move to the next
animation frame?

Yes, there is. Do not insert animations (SWF)
containing their own built-in audio. If you do, the audio will
continue to play until it has completed, even if the user leaves
the slide on which the animation is inserted - but you knew that,

Sorry, couldn't resist stating the obvious, but I'm
sure you don't appreciate my sense of humor as much as I, so I'll
apologize once more. Sorry.
Seriously, when audio is contained (or "wrapped") in a shell
like another SWF file, you basically give up control of that audio
- because the PC's "focus" is on the main SWF - your Captivate
project. Instead, use the audio for the main project, either at
slide-level (preferred), or (second choice) at object-level, the
"object" being the inserted SWF.
Another possibility - which I haven't tried personally - is
to include, as a separate object in the inserted SWF, a "mute"
control that could be clicked before hitting the "Next" button.
Extra steps for the end user (and you), and it will require at
least a minimal knowledge of action-scripting (and a copy of
Flash), but it
might also work ... maybe ... perhaps.

Audio keeps playing after I navigate away from page?

When I play media, for example a YouTube video, when I navigate away from the page the audio keeps playing. This is unique to Safari. Firefox doesn't behave in this way. Any ideas how to fix this?

Video inserted into AP Element - Audio keeps playing on rollout

Hi,
I have created an AP Element that on rollover a thumbnail video plays of the full video.
This works fine.
However on rollout, the video does disappear, but the Video Audio keeps playing.
How do I stop the Audio playing when the user rolls out of the link?

It keep playing because your rollout action doesn't specifically turn off the audio (it only makes the video invisible). It probably doesn't stop the downloading of the video either. So while the video isn't displaying, it continues to download the entire file..... not a good idea!
Depending on how you are playing the video, you'll have to devise a means of controlling the video (NOT just making it invisible).
For example:
If the player is a Flash player using NetStream, a simple ns.close(); button would work.
If a JWPlayer, you can use javascript to stop the player, something like this:
<a onclick="jwplayer().stop();"...........
I know that's an onclick event, but you should get the idea.
You'll have to adapt the principle to match your specific vid player.
To eliminate this very common video player issue, you MUST stop the video (and audio) as the very first action, BEFORE you make the video player disappear.

Premiere Pro CC freezes on a frame during playback, but audio keeps playing?

Hi,
First time poster, long time visitor to the boards. Running a new Mac "Pony Keg" (I think calling it a "trash can" invites bad performance ) with OSX 10.9.5. Here's a recurring issue: I am playing back a sequence and then it will freeze on a frame (different everytime) and the audio keeps playing. I can stop the playback and it will continue to play, but the frame is locked in. Next, I'll quit out of the app, and try to reopen, but nothing happens because Premiere never actually quit. I'll pull up Force Quit window and it reads as "not responding." I'll Force Quit, relaunch the project and things will work again for a while, and then I need to do a whole reboot. Any thoughts on what might be causing this freeze frame issue or why Premiere won't actually quit? I've seen these posts in some various threads, but not these two issues in the same thread. Thanks in advance for any help and insights offered!

I would suggest these things:
Do this first: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later)
If that doesn't help, Change the Video Renderer to Mercury Playback Engine software only under File > Project settings > General. Delete previews after clicking on OK.
If nothing helps, try this:
Go to the following locations:
Location 1: When in Finder, click on Go > Go to Folder > ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Location 2: Go > Go to Folder > ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe
Location 3: Documents > Adobe
In all the locations, rename the 'Adobe' folders to 'OldAdobe'
Launch Premiere, accept the License Agreement and see if it works.
Note: You will lose your customized workspaces, keyboard shortcuts and media cache.

Audiobooks purchased from Audible.com. They play on iTunes on my computer. They have been playing on my iPod Classic until two days ago. I'm in the middle of two books and now one does not keep track of where I am and the other does not play. I also have other books not playing on the iPod that use to play. They all play on iTunes on my computer.

The video picture is hang but audio keeps playing

We are using FMS3.5 for VOD streaming. It’s spotted that when we are using Flash Player Version = WIN 10.0.42.34/10,0,45,2, it is encountered that the video picture is hang but audio keeps playing after our commercial break point. we will first pause the video content and then use the same object to play the instream ad. After that, the video is resume when instream ad complete.

PPro14CC - Playback freeze, audio keeps playing (OS X, iMac)

I think this is might be a similar issue to what others are experiencing, but the symptoms are unique so I'm hoping someone has found a possible solution by now?
One of our editors has been working on a large project (10 HD promo spots, at least 100GB of raw footage from Canon C300) and experiencing at least 4 crashes per day. And by "crash" I mean that CC14 stops playback -- the Program monitor freezes -- while the audio keeps playing. In some cases he can switch out to the Finder and then back to CC14 to stop the playback, and while he is able to hit "Save" and "Quit" the Program monitor never unfreezes. Some times though he gets the Beachball of Death and has to force quit everything, and curiously the timeline audio still plays out of the speakers after CC14 has quit and the machine is waiting to restart. On at least one occasion he got a major error and PPro created a new project file after closing down. VERY frustrating.
From what he's told me (I haven't been working alongside him that closely), the freeze ONLY happens when the playhead hits a clip that has filters or effects applied. Right now he's mostly doing a picture-in-picture effect with a beveled edge filter applied to the smaller window, and 3-way color correction on other clips.
For troubleshooting I focused on the graphics card first. The iMac has a Geforce 780 and was originally running with OpenCL so I downloaded the latest CUDA driver and switched to that but it made no difference. Turning OFF the hardware acceleration just made everything sluggish. I also repaired permissions on the drive. I'm hesitant to do anything too major while he's still working so please let me know if trashing prefs and/or reinstalling will wreck anything in the project or if you would recommend importing everything into a new one.
Brand new 27" iMac (non-Retina), 32GB ram, latest Yosemite (10.10) and CC14 versions, no plugins installed, no fancy system extensions or antivirus software. OWC Thunderbay RAID, M-Audio speakers, 2nd monitor is 42" Plasma TV via mini-Displayport-to-HMDI adapter in 2nd Thunderbolt port.

UPDATE:
We switched the Sequence Settings Preview to Quicktime>ProRes from I-frame MPEG, and it seems to be running better. Will update again if it fails to produce consistent results. Hope this helps somebody else!

Video freezes, audio keeps playing always on main monitor

I just installed FCS2 on my 1.5GHz powerbook G4, everything works perfectly fine until I try to play any video files in the viewer or the canvas. The picture freezes as soon as I hit play on whatever frame its on, the audio keeps playing fine. Everything seems to be running smooth and fast except I can not get any files to play!!! I just upgraded my ram to 1.25 gb and im running mac osx 10.4.11. Ive tried reinstalling, trashing preferences and cache, messing around with every setting I could think of...PLEASE HELP!!!

What format is your video?
Are the appropriate Easy Setup and Sequence Settings selected?
Where is the source material located?

Do my itunes purchases keep downloading even when I'm not signed into itunes?

I don't have enough time for my purchases to download completely, and I need to sign out of my itunes account, and I was just wondering, if I sign out without pausing my downloads, will they keep downloading? Because this is what I'm actually hoping for. It would be great if they could keep downloading even when I'm not signed in. I just don't know if they do or not.

Hi junebeez,
Have you gone into Settings and turned off the Sync Courses and Notes option? If not, try doing this:
Go to Settings>iTunes U>Sync Courses and Notes, and see if it is = On. If it is, turn it Off and see if that fixes the problem.

Dvd player not working after Instaling OS X 10.8.4 Video freezes while audio keeps playing

After installing OS X 10.8.4 I tried to play a DVD and the video starts to freeze up while audio keeps playing. Video eventually stops completely while audio continues to play. Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone know how to fix this issue??

Try booting into the Safe Mode to see if the same problem occurs. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application unistaller. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.
