Audio Keyframes not following extract clip Premiere CS6

Greetings,
I am currently immersed in a wedding project that has taken me quite a while to complete. After watching the assembled master edit  sequence last night, I decided I would like to shorten(extract) a section of the walk in at the beginning. I have tried to use extract function  from the program monitor making sure all of the tracks were targeted and the only problem I am having is that the audio tracks have automation that is not following the extract. I have also tried doing a manual razor cut and removing the unwanted section, then have tried with both the track tool and the move tool. Each time the track volume automation does not follow the cuts. I wonder if I am missing something really obvious here. So to summarize: clips are moving but the tracks( there are several audio tracks with volume automation) are not moving in time to match.
Thanks

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the quick response. You are correct as I have been researching this all morning.I really wish I had discovered this earlier as I have a 2 hour timeline with multiple audio adjustments to several tracks. Some were music replacement from a not so good audio feed, but there is a lot of hand drawn key-framing across a few tracks.
I gotta say that I am surprised that there is not a feature that allows Premiere to have audio track edits to follow edits or a way to tie them to the clips or copy them to the clips. It looks like I either have to live with it or render out another master copy and cut out the unwanted footage.
While I'm here and asking, any suggestions for rendering out a master file from 1080p avchd for archival and re-editing purposes. I am always afraid when I use match sequence settings that I am doing another level of compression..
Your suggestions are very helpful here as always.
Thanks

  • Multicam audio levels/meters??? - Premiere CS6

Is there a way to see the audio meters while in the multicam window?
The audio plays fine but is there really no way to monitor the audio to see if its peaking or not, or what level its at, unless I stop the multicam and play it in the timeline?
All the source clips, all the timeline clips, all the project window clips all enable the audio levels/meters.
Why not the multicam? Seems odd.

Audio is the other half of what editors deal with so I kinda do need to worry about it.
Agreed.  Just not from the MC window, but from the sequence where you can actually make changes and adjust things.
Then why do the audio meters work when playing clips in the project window? Yes, the sequence is where changes are made but being able to monitor what a clip looks like or sounds like outside of the timeline is essential to any good NLE. It's not editing, it's monitoring. Just an oversight on Premiere Pro's design that I hope they fix asap.

I'm starting to learn that you are the king of "that's not what I care about so it must not be important".
It's actually more often a "how can I get this job done with the tools and features that are available to me right now" kind of attitude.
While that's a practical approach and certainly one that will cut down on stress, that's also the mindset that allowed for companies like RIM (Blackberry) to fall behind their competitors. I prefer a more "work with what you've got but if something's missing or broken, speak up" approach.  My hope is that the PPro design team actually listens to their users to make it better. We all have things we wish would improve or be fixed and if we all just said "eh, it is what it is" then nothing would ever improve. I'm more of a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it...but if it is, then stop making excuses and fix it". I know the absence of something as simple as audio meters doesn't mean mulitcam is broken, but its an example of an oversight on the part of Premiere's design team that I hope they fix. It's a very simple feature. Every other NLE I've worked with has it. It helps the workflow especially with long multicam sequences. There's no reason it shouldn't work like it does if you play a clip anywhere else. Now its just a matter of if they care enough to fix it.
Truthfully, I was hoping it was just a glitch with my computer and someone was going to chime in and say "it works for me" and I'd have to re-install or something and then it would work. But I guess not. We all work with the tools and features that are available to us right now, but if adding a functionality that should have been there from the beginning can speed up my workflow then I'll gladly be the squeeky wheel.

  • Audio Will not export for clips longer then one minute

I am running adobe premiere pro cs3 on my HP Pavilion.  i run windows XP service pack 2.
Until recently i had no problem but the other day I tried exporting from adobe media encoder under these settings:
    Format: M-PEG 2
    Widescreen 16:9
    NTSC
The bit rate varies. I've done larger bitrates and smaller bitrates.  it doesnt help.
And suddenly it would render my full video with an mpg extension but there was no audio. I ran it again but shortened the size of the clip, and it came out perfectly fine, audio in tact.  lengthened the sequence again and it wont export audio. its not that the audio box isnt checked, and its not rendering the audio as a seperate file like it used to.  I do a LOT of editing and run my own online show, so it is very important for me to be able to render these videos like this.  I could always render as AVI but that takes up soooooo much space, and most of the other formats are too low quality for me to import again and edit, or even just to upload for people to see.  can anyone help me?

Yes, HDD = Hard Disk Drive. One often sees it listed as HD, but that can also stand for High Def, so I use the HDD abbreviation myself.
Now, how you have things set up, that 15GB of free space is probably not nearly enough. This is especially if one has their Windows Page File dynamically managed by the OS (default method), as it is very, very likely that the Page File is filling up the remainder of the HDD.
If everything is on the external, media, Project, Scratch Disk, Export folders, etc., one might be able to squeak by with that overloaded HDD, but I need to point out - at about 75% of capacity, the HDD's performance will start to slow, and this will intensify, as more is used. This overfilling can result in failure. I would look into cleaning up the C:\.
Also, when video editing, a 2x physical (not partitions) HDD setup is the bare minimum, and a 3x HDD setup is even better.
Some get around this, a bit, by using eSATA externals, which will be almost as good as the internals. Not sure that I would recommend any other connection type though. I use FW-800 externals, but have a minimum of a 3x internal on my laptop and an 8x on my workstation, so there's always plenty of internal storage. I just use the externals, to migrate the Projects between my computers.
Good luck, and pay really, really close attention to that filled C:\.

  • Keyframes not showing up in Premiere CC 2014

in my timeline, I no longer have the opacity line showing so I can add keyframes and adjust the visual opacity and audio sound levels.  In the wrench icon, it does show it marked as "Show Video Keyframes" and "Show Audio Keyframes.  I don't remember ever running into this issue through all my versions of Premiere throughout the years.
    Thanks for any help.
    Ron

I'm having the same problem. Show video keyframes is selected. I can see the arrows for previous and next keyframe, but the center diamond to add a keyframe is missing. Clicking on the FX icon in the video does nothing. Any suggestions?

  • Keyframes not showing up in Premiere Pro

    Hello,
Just recently, when I have been opening up my PP, the keyframe lines on my clips have not been showing up, like so:
unlike the rest of the time when I have the lines to animate a keyframe:
The line through my video is missing, so I'm not able to do fade ins or outs on my clips.
And if anyone would be able to explain what exactly that line is called, that would be helpful. Thank you,
    Sarah

    Sarah,
If you zoom in on your sequence a bit, you might be able to select which keyframes you want to adjust. In the second image, that would be Opacity.

  • Keyframes not moving with clips

I have a large number of audio clips with lots of keyframes - the video edit (which was locked) now needs some minor tweaking. But when I go to move my audio clips forward to sync with the now shortened video, the keyframes don't move with the clips. I'm sure I must be missing something very simple but I can't seem to figure this out. how do I lock the keyframes to move with the clips?
    Thanks!

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately I don't have those 2 buttons on the end. Is that screen shot from Soundtrack Version 1? I looked at the "customize" buttons and they're not there either.

  • Is anyone else having trouble with Audio Assets not packaging correctly? Indd CS6

When I go to package my indesign files, which appear properly linked and organized, rather than bundling the play and pause icons in one folder labeled Audio (in an Overlay Assets folder) like it should, it collects as two Audio folders (both into an Overlay Assets folder). I do have two audio resources I'm using (the same mp3 file for each audio button). When I collect, I see one folder is named Audio and has nothing in it. Nor does the 2nd folder, named Audio 402-12510241 but with a long 12 digit code in the filename (this number changes each time I attempt to bundle.). So each time I try to package, then open the newly packaged file, the audio controller files show up as missing assets.
Here's two alert messages I get when I:
    A. Try to package a file
    B. Try to preview on iPad
If I manually dump these collected audio folders and replace into the Overlay Assets folder it works to preview on the iPad. And seems to work. But try repackaging and you get the same scenario.
Any ideas how to resolve this?
    —Brian

Well it worked, kind of. Opened and worked in CC. Previewed to iPad just fine. Packaged folder on the CC machine, which seemed to create correct overlay asset folders with the audio plan and pause pngs. Yeah.
Then, I followed the steps from your note, copied the whole folder to the cs6 machine. Opened the idml in that folder, where there was also the CC version, saved the idml as a new filename in cs6. And if I stop right there, I likely have good files.
But for good measure, I tried to package again, hoping this time I'd see the audio folders in the right place. But no dice. The packaged file creates two empty audio folders. The reason I keep trying to re-package is because I'll be adding more content to these files and will have to re-package at least one more time before uploaded article into an actual folio. And I want to address the problem before going to the Cloud. I'm a bit hesitant to upload given the behavior of these audio files. I've tried importing new audio files with new controller files but that doesn't work.
Days ago, doing troubleshooting of the file, I noticed an old remnant which I deleted from the CC file, and that was a plain text box (with 100% color fill) that had an audio controller file path/location (in the audio folio overlay panel) that linked backed to the CC machine. This was an accident to link this colored box, and it had no mp4 link (or audio controller files) attached to it in the links folder. But deleting the box did delete this audio pathway.
So I can keep doing what I'm doing, replacing the Overlay Assets folder with a custom Audio folder each time, but I'll have to do this to my other 700 pages of iPad documents that will follow this chapter. I'd rather just understand what is happening, fix the file once, then move on and use the corrected files for a template to use for other 20 chapters i have to build.
Mac OS 10.7.5 (which keeps telling me there is an CS6 update but then after updating it, the same update is ready for me to download again). So maybe my OS has something to do with it? Or working on two separate harrdrives that are both within the same tower? I'm trying to work on just one, but I have copied files onto this 2nd drive, which I plan to add as new articles to a new folio as soon as I figure this out.
    What do you think?

  • Multicam - Audio DOES NOT follow video

    Hi Guys,
I have read in some posts that some of you have this problem, but I have not been able to find a solution which anyone has posted.
    Problem:
I am doing a multicam edit with 2 video and 2 audio. After nesting the sequence and turning on Multicamera, I goto the MultiCamera Window, then I select Audio Follows Video, and the result should be that, If I select Cam1, Audio1 should be playing, and if I select Cam 2, Audio 2 should play, but somehow, no matter which cam I select, only Audio 1 plays.
    Any help on this?
    Spec:
    Adobe Premiere Pro CS 4.0.0
    Win 7

Yes I did read that part harm, but that would mean I have to have all audio in one track, which defeats the purpose of having multicam in the first place.
Well anyway, I also read that CS3 has this problem, not sure if its fixed. Anyone having this problem also?

  • Motion 5 audio keyframe not rendering

    Hi All,
I have a project in which I'm using keyframes to control audio level.  The first two keyframes work ( level goes from normal to -18 ).  The keyfrmames near the end do not work ( level goes back up to normal for a few seconds, then down to -96 for a fadeout effect ).
It sounds fine in Motion, but when I export to Movie it does not render.
    I've already trashed the prefs.
    Any help appreciated - Vijay

Audio in Motion has always been a bit iffy - I would do your audio editing elsewhere, like STP or FCP. Then bring it into Motion. Or try exporting audio only, if that works, bring in the movie and replace the audio.

  • Mouse audio/actions not following settings

    Hello all,
First off, I am using Captivate 4. As for my output type, I'm not sure of that at the moment - but I don't know if that's essential to this issue.
In the slides that I'm editing, I have captured my mouse navigating through a website. For the majority of the slides, the audio is doing the exact opposite of what the settings dictate. If I have selected to play the mouse click's sound, it doesn't play the sound. If I have NOT selected the mouse click sound to play, it plays. Only on one slide does it actually do what I ask. And I have also noticed that if I ask it to NOT show the mouse click, it shows it anyway, and the other way around.
I thought maybe by adjusting the settings to the opposite of what I want, I could trick the program - alas this doesn't work either.
What am I missing? Is there a master setting somewhere that's laughing at me?
    Thank you kindly.

Well, nevermind... when I preview the entire project, things seem to work as planned. When I'm previewing individual slides, it's not the case but I suppose that's not a big deal.

  • Monthly subscription serial does not transfer to new Premiere CS6

I received the e-mails from Adobe about the general new subscription protocol and savings.  I have been using CS5.5 for about a year and Adobe stated the new automatic transfer subscription and new rate savings to CS6.  I however when I enter my monthly serial subscription a message prompts that it's invalid.  Please help.  This is confusing.

Did you go to https://creative.adobe.com/ to initiate the download from?

  • Audio transitions missing when combining sequences - Premiere CC 8.1 Caravan

Audio effects not following when one sequence is pasted into another - Premiere CC 8.1 Caravan
When I finish sequences "A," "B," and "C," and I wish to make a new sequence (sequence "D") that has parts of sequence A, B, and C, I load any of the three sequences into the source monitor and then use the insert/overwrite to paste into sequence D.  When playing A, B, or C in the source monitor, everything sounds fine.  When I insert (or overlay) those segments into new sequence "D," audio transitions (such as exponential audio transitions to fade in/out music) are missing.  So on sequence "D," any audio transitions from sequences A, B, or C do not follow.
I just confirmed that this problem does not exist in Premiere CS6.  All audio transitions follow from one sequence that is pasted into another.
In CC, I re-created the problem by putting an exponential fade in and fade out on a clip of music on sequence A, and it works just fine.  I then pasted that sequence into sequence D.  At the point of the transition, the music does not fade in at the beginning, but just stays muted until after the fade-in transition, then pops in full.  Then at the fade out, the audio does fade, but it is full of digital static.
I did this same test in CS6 (same machine) and everything works fine.  All transitions and effects are perfect.
I just noted this the other day when creating a highlight sequence of a documentary we are producing.  I noticed that sound bites were cutting in abruptly.  This is a serious problem.
Can anyone else recreate this issue?

    Hey KMueller - neat thinking.
Before reporting - I did try the drag / drop, then the import, then the media browser options and they all ended up the same.
Using your idea, I just straight forward made a copy / paste of the file in the folder it sits in, then dragged that over and hey presto - it came in with audio...
The icon representing the original file says video only still - but the icon representing the "copy" of the same file has a video & audio icon - and it plays ball on the timeline.
    Thanks

  • Premiere Pro CS6 - audio plugins not engaging until roughly 1 second into clip

This is a strange issue I've been having with Premiere CS6, running on a Mac Pro.  Anytime I add effects to audio, whether it is denoiser, highpass, eq, etc, the effect doesn't engage until roughly 1 second into the clip.
It doesn't matter if I render it or export it.  The problem still occurs.  In the past my solution has been to drag the audio out past the 1 second threshold, apply the effect, export just the audio, bring it back into premiere, re-align the new audio and export.  What a pain!
Definitely a problem I've never had with Avid or Final Cut!  Does anyone know if there is a way to fix this problem?!

It's a long-standing bug with certain audio effects.  Please do let Adobe know you want it fixed.

In the meantime, you should do that kind of work in Audition instead.

I tried using the Guest Account on my Mac. In the Guest Account, Illustrator works perfect!
Then I started wondering what processes (tools/tweaks) I run by default on my account. Turned out the problem was called by a little background tool called RightZoom. RightZoom let's the green 'zoom' button always maximize your current window.
    So thanks! Problem solved!
