Audio levels dropped after strange keystroke
not sure wat I did, but yesterday all of the levels were fine and now a bunch of levels dropped. i believe i may have pressed a keystroke that turned on some feature or enabled something that changed all of my audio in my sequence. It says it's still at the same db, but I can barely hear it.
Any ideas? What other info do you need?
the speakers work fine. even if I go into another project all othe audio is fine. its just any of the sequences of this project. audio levels have dropped through the floor. and even more strange, there are a few clips that remain unaffected.
<
<div class="jive-quote">he issue was faulty monitoring speakers. not sure how, but they were not playing audio clips correctly. i pugged my headphones straight into the tower instead of to the monitoring speakers and it works now.

Wow. That is totally amazing.
Now you know how hard it is to be helpful around here.

Audio level drop after exporting from FCP to Comp
my dialnorm at -31db, precompressor compression setting @ none, any other setting i need to look at??
do I need both of the audio files that ALL generates, or just the APack lookalike file?
This is the topic of some debate.
One camp - which I belong to - believes that you only need the A.pack lookalike (the .ac3 file). This allows you to either fit more video into your project or encode the video at a higher bit rate. Also, there is strong belief by that the inclusion of high data rate AIFF files causes many players to choke. This is the reason that gets the blame for many iDVD discs choking on players, since iDVD uses only AIFF audio for it's projects.
The exception to the rule (for this camp) is if you're doing a music-based project - a concert, music video or karaoke DVD - where you don't want any compression of the audio.
But, to try and answer your question directly, if you've successfully used A.Pack files in the past, you should be fine with just the .ac3 file from Compressor 2. At least, that's how I feel about it. -
Audio level dropped down to very low after adding some headphones. Now even without the 'phones the sound level from the laptop is too low to hear.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP 2000 Notebook and sound levels really low. Here is a link to resolving sound or line in problems. You can also check your sound settings.
1. Right click speaker icon (right hand corner)
2. Select Playback devices
3. Right click Speakers
4. Enable it and set as Default
5. Click Apply/Ok
I would be happy to assist if needed. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Please respond with which Operating System you are running:
Which Windows Operating System am I running?
Please let me know.

Hi again,
I am going nuts on something that I've spent too many hours on now. Sometimes audio levels drop to about half on export or even playing in PP on rendered files. I can't figure out why as if I scrub back and try again, many times it plays fine.
I have 11 Layers of HD footage with clips linked to after effects etc. and 6 layers of audio. Everything is rendered and exporting gives me the same wierd audio level drops. It always happens between clips (in the beginning of the next clip) but not always. It drops to about half for a few seconds and always to the same level.
I should say that have exported this very project several times during making it without changing problem areas "audio" but as it builds up I am getting problems - is it too heavy to handle or what it going on? This is not the first time I have encountered this problem. Problem areas have only 2 layers of audio tracks playing at the same time.
Exporting audio without video gives same result. Anybody have any suggestions?
Kind regards,
Nick
MAC, i5 12GB RAM, CS5Nick,
Maybe not very useful info here, but an advice...
Being a native user of æ, ø and å when it comes to talking and writing, I have learned long time ago that using such (æ. ø, å) in file names (or in anything purely computer related) is something that causes hick-ups now and then.
PS! "Half" when it comes to sound is -3 or -6 dB (dependent on sound power or sound level)

Flash audio level drop outs (Windows 8.1)
Hey,
Using adobe flash, I've been having issues with to audio nearly dropping out to nearly inaudible levels on mutiple websites. Anything that does use the flash player, it seems to be triggered when I plug in another device into the computer for use, or charging although it doesn't seem to be 100% consistant and seems less likely after reinitiating the flash player, but would happen after having the flash player open for a longer period of time then attaching a device. My current work around is to either load up a different browser e.g. Google Chrome, which will use it's own plugin container containing another instance of flash. Or to end task on flash from my task manager, then reload the page. which would restore proper audio levels. This does not appear to be specific to one webpage, or to one brower.

While steams loader was active in the background it would cause the flash audio to drop out. I don't know any reason why it would cause this, but have just disabled steam from starting up at all. Any insight on why these two programs would clash and cause audio issues would be greatly appreciated.

Audio levels before / after export???
hi,
i'm using a background audio track in one of my adventure videos and when i am in PProCS5, the audio is at a good level BUT after i export the video, the audio seems to have gone up a few notches.
any ideas?
i only edit the audio levels in PProCS5 down in the audio section of the timeline. i add keyframes and then drag the audio level up and down. is that the right way to do it? is it possible to increase / decrease the audio level by more than the allowable 6dB?
am i missing a setting when i export the audio?
i mean, it should all sound the same, in PPro and when i play it in VLC or on my TV?
thanks! In PrPro, there are at least 3 ways to adjust the Levels/Volume of the Audio:
At the Clip-level, one can Rt-click and adjust the Audio Gain. This is often the least desirable method, but can be used.
At the Clip-level, one can use the fixed Effect>Volume, and easily Keyframe this Effect. This can be done on the Timeline, or via the Effects Control Panel, and this is the most common method. Remember, this is at the Clip-level, so those Keyframes will follow that Clip, should it be moved.
At the Audio Track-level, one can use the Audio Mixer to automate the Sends, and set Track Keyframes to control the Levels. This will apply Track Keyframes, which will remain on that Track, even if one replaces the Clips on that Track. The frequency of these Track Keyframes can be adjusted in Edit>Preferences. Remember, these are Track Keyframes, unlike the Clip Keyframes above.
The display of either Clip, or Track Volume Keyframes can be toggled in the Track Header.
There are several other Levels/Volume Effects, like Normalize, but they are really something a bit different.
I agree with Jim's suggestion on doing a DVD (I use RW discs to test - no more coasters), and test the Levels on my reference audio system.
Good luck,
Hunt -
Audio levels drop under a title
When I put a title over a bit of video, the audio track drops in volume tremendously until the title disappears. I can't adjust it to meet the audio level of the rest of the clip. What's going on? How can I keep the audio level stable when I put a title - such as the name of the person speaking - under the video?
That's weird, because a similar bug was fixed in iMovie 5, and I've not seen/heard it since:
iMovie 4's volume slider affects the volume of rendered clips, such as overlaying titles, by setting the rendered audio to the level selected with the volume slider.

Audio Levels different after imorting a sequence from PP to Audition
I'm trying to master my audio but after exporting my sequence to Audition I quickly found that the Levels in the Multitrack view are louder than in the Waveform view. This is making it difficult to work on my sequence.
If I open a simple audio file from Audition there isn't a problem... the different views work fine and levels are the same. So there must be something going wrong with the PP to Audition link I guess? Does anyone have any ideas what's causing this?
Thanks
KevinAlso, in the sequence the Edit in Audition option is greyed out? I can't round trip and work through the clips individually? Is there something I need to switch on or something?

Audio Level Gone After Capture
Hello,
I've searched the forums and found one with this problem, and it wasn't resolved.
Basically, I'm previewing audio before and during capture and the levels are great. Then, upon playing back, I open the audio up in the viewer, and even there the levels look great, but it plays back really low - and distroted.
It appears the tape (coming in from my miniDV camcorder) is fine as the level is fine on preview. And it's not my speakers or anything like that, otherwise I'd have the problem during preview, also.
Any thoughts or help would be fantastic.
Thanks,

Audio Levels dropping while Digitizing
We're editing on 4 computers with an XSAN server using Beta SP machines as component input as well as firewire DV machines. FCP 5.1.4
My question is this. We seem to 'lose' about 5db from the machine to the computer. In other words something thats hitting about -12db on the deck will only come into the machine at -17db. It doesn't matter whether it comes from the Beta Machines through the blackmagic hub or straight into the machine via firewire.
Is there some kind of setting in the FCP program that can be changed? Our tech support doesn't seem very interested in solving this problem.
Thanks

2X3GHz Dual Core Intel Xeon Mac OS X (10.4.9) 4 Edit stations and an XSAN wih Beta Sp and Firewire DVthats not normal behaviour
when i record tone at -20db on source and then bring that into fcp, then the level lines up exactly at -20db as it should.
odd and otherwise inexplicable behaviours in fcp are often a good indication that it might be a good time to trash your preferences!
try FCP Rescue from http://fcprescue.andersholck.com which is a simple one trick pony tool to make that process painless -
In some but not all of the clips in my project, the audio level drops down for the last half second or so. I have tried every effing audio setting including setting fade to 0 seconds manual, normalizing, not normalizing, and every combination I can think of, but it's just not working.
When I google this problem, I find a few unanswered questions going back to imovie 2 in 2003, but no solutions short of remove the auto fade and set manual to zero, which again, isn't working for me. It really ***** to spend a whole afternoon working on a project to have it corrupted beyond repair. Anybody have any ideas of how to fix this, short of getting adobe premiere and/or a newer mac or even, a windows machine?Ok, here's another set of step-by-step instructions for configuring an extended network. Please give them a try to be sure you didn't miss anything.
Dynamic WDS - Extending a Wireless Network Setup
If practical, place the base stations in near proximity to each other during the setup phase. Once done, move them to their desired locations.
Open AirPort Utility, and then, select the base station that will connect to the Internet.
Choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu, or double-click the base station to open the configuration in a separate window. Enter the base station password if necessary.
Click AirPort in the toolbar, and then, click Wireless.
Choose “Create a wireless network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and then, select the “Allow this network to be extended” checkbox.
Next, select the base station that will extend this network, and then, choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu, or double-click the base station to open its configuration in a separate window. Enter the base station password if necessary.
Choose “Extend a wireless network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and then, choose the network you want to extend from the Network Name pop-up menu.
Enter the base station network and base station password if necessary.
Click Update to update the base station with new network settings. -
How to fix inconsistent audio levels
I've got video footage from a presentation and everytime the speaker turns his head to look at a screen, the audio level drops significantly because the mic was placed on the wrong side. I have clips where half the audio is fine, but half is significantly lower. I have a full timeline of clips like this, and want to know what the quickest way to bring the low volume up without raising the parts with high volume. I do not want to have to go in and manually adjust the audio for just the lower volumes within a clip. I thought normalizing all peaks would do this, but it also raises the high volume along with the low volume parts. I just want to raise any peaks that are below, say, -4 db up to -4 db without increasing the pieces that are already at or above -4db.
There are several ways to adjust Volume, or Gain, in Audio in PrPro. This ARTICLE goes into a little detail on using each.
Personally, I like Richard's suggested method, but one must remember that the Audio Mixer adds Track Keyframes for the automation. If one were to later edit the Clips on that Audio Track, those Track Keyframes remain, where they were, and do NOT follow Clips. Still, as I do the final Volume adjustments AFTER my editing, having Track Keyframes is not an issue.
Good luck,

Audio drops after 10 seconds, Airport Express, Windows XP, iTunes
Looking for help with this.
Playing most any song in iTunes via Airport Express. At 9 to 11 seconds into each song, the audio drops out for about 1s, then comes back and continues to the end of the song. Occasionally the audio will drop in other places within a song. Annoying to say the least.
I have updated firmware to 6.3, and updated iTunes.
I have also tried changing almost all the settings in Airport Admin, I have it set to 40 bit WEP encryption, "interference robustness" enabled, multicast @2, and so on. If I change these settings, the problem gets worse.
(argh audio just dropped as I am writing this)
I live in an apartment building with several other wireless networks visible.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Brian
Asus Z71V Windows XPHi. I also had this problem, running Windows XP with SP2
and the latest iTunes for Windows and the latest firmware
for my two airport expresses. I would get a dropout from
both expresses at around 12 seconds after a song would
start to play. This happened for every song.
I noticed using the Windows process monitor that the CPU would go to 100% at around 12 seconds after a song started.
I located the process that forced this, and it was called
'ashserv.exe'. This is the main executable run by Avast
Secure antivirus software. I'm running the free version.
I changed the level for avast from high level scanning to normal and my problem is gone. -
Core audio output drops out after upgrading boot HD
All,
I have a strange thing happening after I cloned and replaced my OS boot drive. I cloned my OS boot drive to another larger drive. When I boot to this new drive and open projects (located on another dedicated HD), playing certain instrument elements cause all of the audio to drop out. It makes a pop, then another pop where the audio would tail out. So if I had a piano EXS instrument doing this behavior and I play a note, I get a pop, then where the audio would finish accessing the file, I would get another pop. This affects the entire output of all audio in the project. I don't think this affects iTunes, but I will check again tonight.
In some cases, I have narrowed this down to a custom IR file loaded in Space designer. When I bypass this plug with a custom IR loaded, all audio will work fine, until I un-bypass this plug. If I reload this IR file, everything works fine.
This now is happening on some of the Logic drumkits and EXS instruments and reloading the questionable instrument does not fix this issue. It seems like a possible database/pathing issue, but not sure.
Has anyone seen behavior like this? Any way to fix?
Some things I have tried on this new OS clone:
Repair permissions
Remove the logic plist file and reboot
Run all of the maintenance/clean up scripts in Onyx
BTW: This occurred with 8.0.1 and also 8.0.2
If I physically re-install my original OS boot drive, these projects work fine.
I am using Core Audio and am using the embedded audio interface. I also have a PCIx UAD card installed. This thread got lost with the 8.0.2 discussions.
Has anyone run into this kind of behavior or any possible steps to recover?
Thanks!
Tad
