Audio levels low in final cut pro 5

my levells seem low in final cut, tho the master fader of the audio mixer is set to its default zero. I know they are low too because i made omf files from my time line having boosted the levels, which still had to be boosted considerably in the final mix suite. The audio levels on the camera tape were recorded fine. can anyone help?

The audio clip beeps if it is not in the standard format for FCE.
The standard format is PCM Stereo 16bit integer 48kHz.
If the audio is not standard you must render the clip in FCE (Render Only/Item Level or Render All/Item Level) before editing.
The best way in any case is to import audio already standard.

  • No audio track anymore in final cut pro timeline

    Hi everyone,
God I feel dumb but somehow i shut off audio tracks in my final cut pro.  I can see the previous ones down that I laid.  But if I try to bring anymore clips into the viewer and then slide them down to the time line there is no audio that comes with it anymore.  What button do I click to allow audio to pull down with the video on to the timeline.  Weird.

Make sure you have the audio tracks targeted by using the patch panel at the left of the Timeline.  Also make sure that the tracks aren't locked.

  • How can I publish the "levels" effect to final cut pro x?

    Hello,
I'm trying to publish all of the color correction plugins from motion into final cut pro x, the "levels" effect in particular. I have read the instructions in the manual and published all the parameters and then saved it to send it over to final cut pro x but the problem that I'm having is when I open it up in final cut pro x all the parameters are there except for the histogram and its controls, what am I doing wrong and how can I fix it? Thanks.

The short answer is you can't publish the levels graphic UI (you can, but it doesn't work in FCPX - all you get is the collection of the individual slider controls.)
You can create a shape with a gradient fill. Set a middle color tab and a second opacity tab. You can use Link parameter behaviors from the color/opacity tabs to the the filter > Levels parameter controls. Use the color tabs for Black In, Gamma and White In. Use the Opacity tabs for Black Out and White Out.
You can publish the shape's gradient.
The problem is, to publish this UI, you're publishing an actual gradient and people will be able to make alterations to the gradient (it won't change how it operates the levels controls.) The other problem with it is that it is possible for users to accidentally pull off or add new tabs which will immediately break the effect (and immediate "undo" should repair it though). Then, figuring out how to manipulate the Gamma control is going to be a trick (I haven't figured out yet.) The values go from 5 (all the way left) to 0 (all the way right - with 1 the 50% mark) for the Gamma control itself, but the UI controller (the middle tab on the gradient) moves the control in the opposite direction and the values are logarithmic in scale. You can use the mid-tab control on the gradient linked to the gamma parameter value, but it won't behave the same way as you would expect a genuine levels control to behave (left to right goes from black to white when the expectation would be the opposite.)
A gradient with links into the filter is about the only way to go if you want it give it a shot.

  • Help serious Audio rendering issues within final cut pro

    Hello
I have some serious audio issues I am using Final cut 6.05. Here is my problem I am putting a AUParametricEq filter on my audio due wind noise etc. Anyway when i play it back on the time line it plays fine no problems but as soon final cut renders the file say for mastering to tape. at some point at the audio the audio goes all haywire, popping sounds or the audio just repeats it self at one frame or i can here audio from other parts of the timeline. And it just happened before i never had the issue. Is it the update. Hope anybody can help as I need to master about 6 projects to tape to clean my harddrives and all 6 projects have the same issue.

Are your audio files AIFF 48K 16 bit?
In regard to trashing preferences you can download Jon's Prefence manager at this site
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/pref_man.htm
    The Old School method follows
    Trashing preferences and repairing permissions.
    Close Final Cut Pro.
    Go to: Users/your user name/Library/Preferences.
    Drag, "com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist" to the trash.
Scroll down to the Final Cut Pro User Settings folder.
Drag, "Final Cut Pro 6 Preferences" to the trash.
Drag, "Final Cut Pro Obj Cache" to the trash
Drag, "Final Cut Pro POA Cache" to the trash.
    Go to: Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility
    Select your system disk
Click on the Repair Permissions button
Wait for the permissions to be repaired

  • Sending Audio Files back to Final Cut pro, nothing.

    Simple issue:
I send from Final Cut Pro To Sound track pro some audio files along with the clip.
I edit it in Sound track Pro, and save (just like in the tutorial) then I quit.
I go back to Final Cut Pro and what do you know, the file that I sent HAS NOT BEEN EDITED!
    Some one help.

I tried the same thing earlier in the year, and when the sound came back into FCP, it was corrupted!
Since then, I don't know if this is a good option, but it seems to work fine:
Once I have finished my editing in FCP, I export the soundtrack into an AIFF. I edit the AIFF via STP, and when finished, import it back into FCP.
I'm not experienced enough to know if this method is bad, but it has worked well for me!

  • Audio is fine in Final Cut Pro but too low in Soundtrack Pro.

ok here goes! I'm using STP to clean up audio, road noise, fan noise, little buzz, and so on. I have a problem; the play back audio is low, so it makes it hard to hear to clean it. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm using a G4 17 power book, with final cut studio. I have done all of the upgraded as far as I know. Anyone have any ideas. The volume is very loud on the time line. The problem is when I send the clip toSTP from FCP. I right click and the window opens and go to send to STP audio project it ask me save or rename the clip. The clip opens in STP, I hit the play button and the volume was fine in FCP is now too low to hear in STP. It seems to play well if I send it to STP mulititrack file project. However when I try to send the track to audio file project. the audio is so low that it unusable. Help

    Hi Lorenzo,
I haven't encountered this problem, however it sounds to me as though the waveform editor is sensing that the incoming signal is too hot & is automatically pulling down the gain to compensate and overcompensating to the point where the audio is barely intelligible.
What I would suggest you try is:
Select All Command (Apple) A then
Shift Command L. This gives you a window that allows you to boost the level. As the signal is so low, try 100%. If the signal is still too low do the same again. The Adjust Amplitude Filters will appear in the Actions List to the left of the Waveform. This is a nondestructive process & each Adjust Amplitude can be toggled on/off by unchecking it so that you can do a before & after comparison.

  • Audio out of Sync - Final Cut Pro to Soundtrack and back

I have edited some talking head interviews in FCP 7.0.3
When I "Send to Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Project" and then send back to Final Cut (by exporting an AIFF)
The audio is 9 frames shorter than the original audio. (The video is 06:29:12 long)
I have checked, and double, triple checked, and all audio is 48.0 KHz
    Both timelines are Non-Drop Frame.
I have also tried the following when importing the XML back in to FCP
    1. Leave Sequence Settings at "auto" with "Override with settings from XML" selected
    2. Change Sequence Settings to "Apple ProRes 422 1920x1080 24fps" with "Override with settings from XML" de-selected.
I have looked and looked through forums and haven't found any real solutions, please help

Apparently, fcp can have a problem with imported audio files if the easy setup frame rate does not match your sequence frame rate.
I've seen this reported as well.
I actually created a new project, set up the "Easy Set Up" to match and ran into the same problem.
Initially the Music Tracks I used were a different audio rate (44.1 vs 48) but I converted those as well.
I'll have to chalk this up to user error, but I've truly been over this project with a fine-tooth comb so many times.
In general, it doesn't seem like there should be so much issue going from Final Cut to Soundtrack and back.
When I get some down time, I'm going to completely recreate this project from
    scratch and see what happens.
Thank you so much for your time Michael.

  • Soundtrack Pro and Audio already altered in Final Cut

I'm just getting my feet wet with Soundtrack Pro. I have a project that was edited in Final Cut Pro, including keyframes to adjust audio levels in specific places in the audio tracks. When the project is sent to Soundtrack Pro, the changes that were made in Final Cut Pro seem to be ignored. Is there something I'm doing wrong here, or are audio alterations made in Final Cut Pro not passed on to Soundtrack Pro? I'm using Soundtrack Pro version 2.0.2 and Final Cut Pro version 6.0.5.

  • Syncing audio in Final Cut Pro X doesn't create a compound clip

I just had a quick question that hopefully someone can help me with. I was shooting some video with my Canon t3i the other day, and I record audio into a Zoom H1. I imported all of my audio and video into Final Cut Pro X and I wanted to syncronize the clips, so I chose the video and the correct audio to go with it, and I right clicked them, and chose syncronize clips.
Now, my question. On every example I've seen of this, syncronizing two clips creates a compound clip which would be great, but when I choose syncronize clip, it just creates a new clip of the video with both audio files apart of the video. It's not a compound clip at all, it's just a video file with two audio channels, one with the cameras audio, the other with the Zoom H1 audio. When I go to shut off the cameras audio channel and just leave the Zoom H1 audio, my video starts to skip and just goes black, yet the audio plays fine...
I guess I'm just looking for help, is there something wrong that I am doing when I am trying to sync these clips? Are there certain file settings that I should have? My video is recorded in 1080p with 24fps, the audio is recorded in WAV format. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

  • No sound on clips when importing video in Final Cut Pro X

I recently got a new Mac Pro tower and installed Final Cut Pro X in it. I have imported 4K media into my library and since the footage was located in the same drive, I left the files in place and created proxy media to make the editing easier and faster. But every time I try to do a batch import, the video files appear to have no audio...the audio is missing within Final Cut Pro X.
Yet, when I look into the library files (in the finder, not through Final Cut) and find the transcoded proxy files, they do have audio.
I have had to delete the files from Final Cut, then re-imported them either one at a time or in batches of no more than five shots a a time. Very cumbersom and a waste of time.
Is there a fix for this?

Hi Russ. The video and audio were originally recorded with a Sony NEX FS700 R camera with its 4K Raw being transcoded to 4K Apple ProRes HQ by an Odyssey 7Q recorder.

  • Audio from Final Cut Pro very very low

Hi guys I have not have a problem for awhile. A friend of mine recently move from DPS Velocity system to Final Cut Pro Studio 2 using a Intel Pro 3.2GHZ with all the bell and whistle, so I am giving him some training and tutorial. They have some footage in Velocity which I use MPEG StreamClip to convert to a DV file, I brought it in FCP (Three File one video and two audio makes one clip) it play in FCP Played ok when I export it to DVD studio Pro the audio is extremely low (barely audio able)I open the clip in QuickTime and it did not play. There is other clip in the project, some capture in FCP and others imports in FCP Studio, DVD Studio Pro and QuickTime plays these audio ok. The audio from Velocity are Wave files, I taught anyfile that plays in FCP would play in QuickTime. Does anyone knows how to solve this problem please to help I would like my friend to change both system to Apple and FCP thanks.

    Wellcome to the forums!
when I export it to DVD studio Pro the audio is extremely low (barely audio able)I open the clip in QuickTime and it did not play.
I guess you encoded it to Dolby AC3 with Compressor, did you? Then you must chamge the standard Dolby preset as follows to keep the original FCP mix and level:
    - Dialog normalization: -31
    - Compression preset: none
And QT cannot play AC3 files.
    Hope that helps !

  • Audio Levels Final Cut Pro Express

I have the latest ver of Final Cut Pro Express. The audio on the time line shows just a straight line indicating the audio level. I would like to see the actual audio waveform on the time line. I went into the preferences menu and checked the box that read "show waveform on timeline", but that didn't correct the problem. I still have a straight line audio level. Any ideas anyone?

Cmd is the Command key, the Apple key. It works if there is audio in the timeline that has a waveform, if the timeline is the active window, and if you wait a moment for the waveform to be drawn. You can also do it with the little popup triangle in the lower left of the timeline window near the track height buttons.

  • How to replace audio on a music video with final cut pro x

How do I replace low quality audio on a music video to a higher better quality audio with final cut pro x?
I have the new audio on cd which I can rip and replace the original audio.
Some audio and music videos are not of same length, In cases like this how do I sync video to the newly replaced audio?
Is there any tutorial, link or where to look for this in the manual?
Any help will be very much appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

Providing you don't need the video synced or cut to a beat, all you need to do is place your music in the primary storyline
    Connect your video above.
While your video is connected, hit CMD+R on your keyboard and stretch the video to the length of the music
If you were to cut the video to a beat, simply add markers on your music track, then connect and trim clips to your markers.
