Audio line-in shows input, but no audio?

I got a MyFi xm2Go player that I plugged in to my MDD's audio line-in jack with a patch cable (3.5mm to 3.5mm). I can't seem to get it to play through my MDD.
Checked under the Sound preferences. Line In selected for input, and the levels fluctuate like its got the signal. Verified Line Out was still my one option. Played with all the volume sliders. Even plugged headphones into the jack on the base just to make sure it worked, and it does.
I can't get the audio to play through.
What am I missing?

I'm going to change this to "answered" because thanks to this conversation I have found a solution.
Versiontracker has a freeware program called LineIn that bridges this gap. It will let you select your audio in and out and with a click of a button labeled "Pass Thru" it plays any audio input through your audio output.

This might be beating a dead horse, but one of the most disappointing things about the migration to OS X was these missing bits of functionality that somehow got lost in translation. I have heard the defense that since OS X is a brand new operating system from the kernel on up it's not a question of having taken something away.
Rubbish.
At the risk of sounding obnoxious, from the end user's standpoint if I go from 9 to 10 I shouldn't be losing any functionality of 9 by going to 10. If 9 had pass through, it's Apple's obligation to build that functionality into 10. If 10 is brand new from the ground up, find a way to recreate that new functionality.
It's clearly possible. I found a third-party non-Apple developer that did it.
The reason I'm ranting is that I shouldn't have had to hunt for this answer or a third-party solution in the first place. This is an obvious need that Apple really should have handled for me. The "pass-through" button should have either been there, or not been necessary because line-in audio would automatically be passed through to the line-out selected.

Lircd, irrecord shows input but irw doesn't

I have IR receiver with rtl2832u DVB-T SDR device. I managed to create configuration file for my pilot (only one button for testing):
sudo irrecord --device=/dev/lirc0 MyRtlRemote.conf
...CUT...
Hold down an arbitrary button.
Found gap length: 409981
Now enter the names for the buttons.
Please enter the name for the next button (press <ENTER> to finish recording)
KEY_CHANNELUP
Now hold down button "KEY_CHANNELUP".
Please enter the name for the next button (press <ENTER> to finish recording)
Successfully written config file MyRtlRemote.conf.
This file was moved to /etc/lirc/lircd.conf.d directory.
Then I started lircd with command:
sudo lircd -n -d /dev/lirc0
There is no output in irw when I press one configured button on pilot.
Any ideas, why my pilot doesn't work?

Audio line-in port - input level shows sound but nothing from speakers

I have a Genus DAB radio attached to the Audio line-in port on my Macbook running Leopard 10.5.3. The input level meter shows sound but nothing is heard through the speakers.
I have tested my headphones and connected the radio up to a PC and all is well, ca anyone suggest a fix for this? (I have seen the same issue elsewhere on this forum with no replies).

Certain M-Audio USB devices (along with some other USB2 class compliant devices that don't use drivers) no longer work with Logic Pro X 10.0.5
At this time it is unknown as to why this has happened. Nor is it known if Apple will need to fix it or if it is up to the Developers of said USB2 devices to remedy the problem.
In the mean time, assuming you made/could make backups prior to updating to 10.0.5.... the solution is to roll back to LPX 10.0.4...

Audio podcasts going into show folders, but not video podcasts

After upgrading to iTunes 7, I've noticed my video podcasts are not going into the proper show folders, but rather just being dumped into the ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Library/Podcasts/ directory. Audio podcasts are working fine though, and each get moved into their proper show folders. Its just highly annoying, because most of the video podcasts don't have descriptive names, just the date of release, so its confusing when I go to burn some off to DVD (my podcasts directory, I keep at around 10gigs, and thats just the current stuff). Its not just *.mov, but *.m4v's as well. Anyway to fix this?

I am dead in the water and am not sure what to do next.

Everything was working fine until recently.
Now, I cannot monitor inputs when recording real instruments. I can see the input on the level meters in Ensemble and in Logic's Channel strip but can't get any output in Stereo or headphones. After I record, it will playback what was input but without being able to hear what I'm playing, it's kind of pointless.... as a sidenote, I can hear / monitor the input normally if I record MIDI or software instrument.
Also, I am getting the" Record drive/partition “Audio Files/Audio Recording” not found!" message which has already been reported as a bug although, for me, it's a new problem and seems to be related to the other problem.
The only changes I have made in my system recently was to add a couple of new PowerCore plugs - the CL1B compressor and the Transient Modulator - which were both working fine until this. They still work fine on already recorded tracks.
I have reinstalled Logic, reset hardware, unplugged / plugged everything back in / ran Combo install for 10.4.11 / upgraded to FWAudio 2.2.0, reinstalled Ensemble, updated software, etc.,
I am stuck. Any suggestions???

But I am afraid this is over my head - maybe you should contact Chris Lawson from Apogee - he posts here when there are questions concerning their stuff. and this seems hardware related to me. Maybe repost your question and use the word Apogee in your topic title, that'll get his attention...
