Audio loops tempo sync

Hi,
Is it possible to load a loop in logic 8 which can automatically auto sync to the tempo like in ableton live ?
I red on the manual that in order to be tempo synced, a loop must be :
-apple loop format
-bounce from logic and saved in the audio bin.
So, If I import an standard audio loop (Wav or AIFF), I must put it first in the arrange page, convert it in an apple loop or bounce the track and import again from the audio bin and erase the first imported loop ?
What a waste of time !
Am I correct ?

  • Tempo-synced loops in EXS24

    Hi,
how can I make an EXS24 instrument with custom loops that sync to the given BPM?
Now, I first play (MIDI) notes/parts, quantize them, convert them to audio files, then create a new sampler instrument from the created regions. This method is almost what I need, but now I want my samples to match the given BPM.
Maybe it's important to say that eventually this sample instrument needs to be beat-synced in MainStage.
Thanks in advance for you help,
    Jasper.
PS: I'm running the latest Logic Studio (with Logic Pro 9.1 & MainStage 2.1)

    Since I'm a newbie:
    - what's the quickest way to do this (I have several - 40 or so - samples on one track in Logic Pro)? Or do I have to load them one by one in Apple's Loop Utility?
    - is there a way to use these Apple loops in MainStage (because that's eventually the purpose) and will they still sync to the given tempo?
    Thanks again,
    Jasper.

  • How can I match tempo & sync of old audio files to Garageband?

    HI all,
Final question and it's a doozy. While I know the "general concepts" for trying to accomplish the following, acutally trying to get it to work is frustrating. At first thought that the new Garageband tempo/playing thing would work but I'm not being successful. Perhaps there are better programs for this. I am moderately aware of the beat/slicing/tempo tap programs -- I just don't have the lets-do-it-detail to make it work.  Here is the goal.
#0 - New DAW file is created in either Garageband or Logic Pro.
#1 - I have old stereo MP3 and AIFF files digitally dubbed from old cassettes, some recorded 30 and 20 years ago. Most were recorded to click track or drum machine. Newer tracks are MIDI but my first tracks are purely audio.
#2 - I drag an audio file (MP3 or AIFF) into either Garageband or Logic Pro. The track becomes an audio track.
#3 -- I need to edit off the beginnings of these tracks. If Garagebands new tempo sync thing is enabled, you can't seem to do this. Once the track is playing -- the tempo should be moderately consistently (The originals often used a Roland TR 707 ??? drum machine). However, the tempo might not be perfect and I might need flexibility.
So, how do I ACTUALLY DO THIS?
#4 - The goal is to get the NEW song template to match it's tempo to the audio track. The song now has the correct tempo that (hopefully) perfectly matches the original track.
#5 - If this works, the old audio track is like an old temp track that is frozen in place.
#6 - I record new fresh tracks against this backing tracking. Voila, I have a newly semi-produced or at least recorded song based on the old recording.
Sounds easy but the devil is in the tricky details. Thanks for any tips, suggestions, references to forums, blogs, YouTube videos or books.
I am open to other software as well.
Thanks in advance. I'll stop bothering you after this. :-)

Attach your welcome audio to an object that is not seen (e.g. a highlight box set to 0%) and use your Advanced Actions and variables to HIDE this object ON SLIDE ENTER if the user returns to the same Menu slide at a later point in the course module.
This should mean that the first time the user gets to that slide, the audio will play.  But all subsequent times they return to that slide, the object will be immediately hidden on entering the slide, which will mean that the audion does not play and all the user sees are the menu options.
Your alternate strategy would be to have two slides that look almost the same.  The first one has the audio, and the second one doesn't.  Your TOC item for Menu, and any other links in the project that point to the Menu, would go to the second slide without audio.  The user will be none the wiser as long as you work out the navigation.

  • How to time stretch a 2 bar audio loop to fit logic tempo, please help

hi, i can match the logic tempo to fit the audio loop ok.
But say if i have a song which is 84.7153 tempo.
I have a 2 bar audio loop that i want to incorporate. The audio loop is a little faster than my logic tempo, so i just want it to fit exactly in two cycled logic bars.
Ive just managed to do it pretty close, in recycle, manually.
But can i do this in logic? Audio factory or something?
Ive been using logic for years, and ive never exlplored logics audio depths.
    can someone help?
    thankyou.

    Use the Apple Loops Utility
    http://www.digimixstudios.net/sd1al/
In my 3rd video here, I show how to use the Apple Loops Utility. Very simple.
The 4th video shows bringing the apple loop I just created, into a Logic 8 project.
Notice how I change the tempo and the apple loop stays within the 4 bar beat.

  • Audio Loops vs. Midi Loops

I am new to Logic Express:
Can Audio Apple loops be played on the "Apple Loops" tracks? Because as of now, when I just drag the audio loops into the track (and I've checked the instrument/output settings), they don't play. The Midi loops play just fine.
Right now I can only get audio loops to play for me if I create an "Instrument" track and drop them into there.

is this under sampling ... if you are using it as a sample, it should be in a sample friendly format: the sample should be dropped in and timesliced to your tempo
sorry so vague but I am new to this as well

  • Problem with SWF export and audio looping

When I export from Keynote into SWF, I get an odd audio looping problem when playing the SWF files. Here's the workflow:
Create Keynote presentation (includes transitions typically, but also happens with presentations that don't).
Record audio using Audacity, convert using iTunes to MP3 in order to be able to export from Keynote to Flash (Keynote can't export WAV files).
Drop in MP3s onto slides. Sync up my transitions with audio.
Export Keynote file to SWF, including the audio.
Play SWF file either directly using Safari or when posted using Firefox. Audio plays, but a certain length into the audio the audio file seems to re-initiate and play over itself.
Anybody seen this? Anyone know how to solve it?
This is pretty critical for us (work related). We are using Keynote to create educational content SWF files, and we only discovered this problem after release.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Speeding up an audio loop

    Speeding up an audio loop
Hi. I am an animator and make my own audio tracks via Logic.
I had Logic 8 and have upgraded to 9 in the hopes that Flex Time speed would do what I need logic to do.... (but it is a constant speed change and not a gradual change or can it do this???)
I need European Waltz Long (apples own audio loop) to get faster and faster. The animation is of a merry-go-round that gets faster and faster. Firstly the file needed unlocking and bouncing. Now it seems ok... maybe. How do I get it or any audio to change gradually over time? I tried the tempo option too, but it will not work with audio tracks. or will it? Ideally I thought Pro 9 would use some sort of hyper editor type speed and time curve but cant seem to get it to work. Is it the loop or me? Can Logic do this?

There seems to be a problem with some of the jingles, I have tried out other jingles the jingles section of loops. They dont seem to work all the time..... They seem to be locked over and above my unlocking them in the finder info menus. Even taking the wavs into Audacity and re exporting them. Something is traveling back with them.. a mutant wav apple gene.
However I have had some luck with using the time tempo curve AND bouncing in place AND using time flex all at the same time!!! But not sure what I did. Sometimes the same loop will also bounce in place and be a different length on the track. Sometimes too when I increase the tempo the track gets longer or does sometimes shorter..
What have apple done to these jingle loops, so I can't do much with them. Or is it me?

  • ILife 08 Audio Loops Don't Work In The Browser Of Soundtrack 1.5 ?

Yes, I know this is the FCE forum but I also know a lot of you use Soundtrack !
This had me puzzled for nearly an hour until I spotted what was "wrong".
The iLife 08 audio loops are .caf files, not .aif.
They DO NOT play in the Browser of Soundtrack 1.5 but they DO play when they are dragged into the Timeline. So it means they can't be previewed.
Now here is the queer thing ....... they play perfectly in the Browser of Soundtrack Pro 2.0.
So is there any way of making the Soundtrack 1.5 Browser play .caf audio or is it just not compatible? .............. It's strange that they are OK in the Project Timeline.

    Ian,
It appears Amadeus Pro will let you convert the .caf files to something else. I suppose other programs will also convert the files and maybe that's not what you want to do. Here's a bit from the Amadeus Pro manual:
3.7 The Apple CAF File format
This is a format developed by Apple and designed to replace AIFF in the long term. It removes the 2GB file
size limitation of AIFF and supports a wider variety of compression algorithms.
While the CAF file format does in principle support sound data with many channels, the current version of
AmadeusPro only supports the reading and writing of mono or stereo files in this format. AmadeusPro
will therefore downmix multitrack documents to a mono or stereo file, whichever is more suitable.
Metadata is lost when saving to the Apple CAF format (this may change in the future, as the format in
principle supports the inclusion of metadata).

  • No sound coming from Audio Loops

    Hi,
I was in a studio session with an artist today and upon reopening Logic Pro X after a lunch break, the audio loops from the loop library are not playing. I've created a new project and dragged the loops into new tracks and they still won't play. It shows there are levels but no sound is coming out. I tried the same thing with midi loop files and those will play fine with perfect sound. I have double checked my speaker system and restarted Logic and the Computer multiple times but it still won't play any sound for any audio loops. Can anyone help me with finding a solution for this?
    Thanks!

I had no idea what that was until I searched for it. But I found it and made sure it was set for "Built-in Input" for "Default Input" under System Settings, and also "Built-in Input" by Properties For... then down under Audio Input it has "Line In" as the Source... everything looks fine but I'm still not hearing anything. I even tried adding my mixer as a MIDI device(???), although I've no clue what I'm doing in that area...

  • HELP!! Audio Out of Sync in Anamorphic Capture... Any Help Appreciated

I've been having problems with the audio drifting when I capture anamorphic footage for longer than 10 minute segments. I've captured 4:3 NTSC DV tape to see if it was my GL2 and I also hooked up my camera to a monitor to playback the tape but the audio was in sync all the way through for both tests. Only capturing the anamorphic footage results in audio drifts regardless of any capture settings.

I am fairly new to iDVD 6 and iMovie HD (widescreen), but I an currently assembling a highlight DVD for my daughter's softball team. We are in mid season. I had been creating separate movies (per game). I extracted audio and/or added sound and video effects to some of the movies clips. Alas not only do the extracted (original audio) and added audio (outdoor cheer) disappear but also the video special effects (slow motion) are not maintained in widescreen but are pillarboxed when copied/pasted.
At any rate, I am have now created a compilation iMovie and will be dumping new footage into it as we go. Editing the compilation, as well as editing separate "save as" individual game movies.
I only had 2-3 clips that had been audio manipulated and shared those back to my video camera and then reimported from camera back to the compilation project. The extracted audio with separate tracks are now a single audio clip but at least I have audio during those clips.
To end this ramble, knowing the limitations of messing with audio and trying to cut and paste to different movies I will now create duplicate movies with a master having no audio enhancements.

    Thanks, Len
I hadn't thought about this option. It seems like a
lot of work. I wish there was an easier way. I have
archived ("Shared" to full dv quality) to DVD-ROM
discs all the raw .dv clips AFTER extracting the
audio, hoping that I could use these clips to
assemble custom DVD-Videos in the future, without
having to "Extract Audio" a second time. The .dv
clips all play perfectly with the audio synced in
Quicktime. Of course, the clip's audio was in sync
before the "Extract Audio" was applied. This sync
problem ONLY rears it's ugly head with iDVD Video
discs (don't know about DVD Pro). Thanks again for
    the suggestion.

  • Audio Looping bug in rendered output

I've hit a recent issue where I'm getting audio looping / stuttering bugs in the rendered output. Doesn't happen at the start of the clip, but elsewhere if I fade everything down to black / nothing, and then fade up again into the next clip, the audio loops / stutters during that fade in. Using "Constant Power" to bring up the audio from nothing to full. Clip plays fine in Premiere, just the final output has the issue. Have encoded audio as both WAV and AC3, same issue.
Curiously, if I output a WAV file only (no video) straight from Premiere, it is clean. That's how I'm now working around this, and coding the AC3 track in Audacity when required. Also (even more curiously!) I recently installed Audition, I'm wondering if that has messed anything up in Premiere. Audition wasn't actually used in any of these corrupt projects (and the project I used Audition for was fine as far as I am aware), but I've never had it installed until 2 or 3 weeks ago.
Anyone else hit this, or know how to fix it? Between this and the video render issue I posted a couple of months back (still not resolved), I'm rapidly losing faith in Adobe's encoding tools.
I can post some example clips if anyone wants a listen. Reminds me of the XDCAM looping bug that existed a while back, although the scenario there was somewhat different (audio at the end of the clip looped, and my current video is AVCHD from a Sony NX5, not XDCAM).

  • Apple's DVD Player: audio in-sync. External DVD Player: audio out of sync

I exported my Sequence from FCP to QT, used compressor to make m2v and ac3 (Dolby) files, then used DVD SP to burn a DVD.
When I play the DVD on my Mac Pro using Apple's DVD Player, MPEG Streamclip or VLC, the audio is in sync with respect to the images, FCP's Canvas and FCP's QT export.
But when I play the DVD using any of three different external DVD players, the audio momentarily drifts out of sync by 30 to 40 frames, near the end of my 30-minute program, but is back in sync after about a minute, when the shot at hand ends and the next shot begins.
More specifically, it's as if the video lags by about 30 to 40 frames, but there is no stuttering or other obvious visual sign that this is happening.
Why would Apple's DVD Player, MPEG Streamclip or VLC play the audio in sync while these external DVD Players play it out of sync?
I should add that in order to verify that the TVs to which the external DVD players are attached are not the source of the problem, I monitored the audio using headphones connected directly to the audio outputs of the DVD Players as well as connected to the headphone jacks of the TVs, and there was no difference, i.e. in both cases, the audio drifts out of sync momentarily, as I describe above.
I can only think that DVD SP is muxing the m2v and ac3 file in such a way that software DVD players can demux it without difficulty, but hardware DVD players cannot.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
    Thanks.

Please tell us what was wrong.

  • How do you adjust the duration of audio loop?

How do you adjust the duration of the audio loop that you can setup to play in the main menu?

Your best bet is to bring your audio into DVDSP at the length you need it. You can adjust the menu loop time in the inspector but this also adjusted your video as well. DVDSP is not an editor - only an authoring tool All adjustments need to be made outside the tool.

  • Video and audio not in sync

Anybody else experiencing video & audio not in sync since upgrading to Lion? I have a MacBook Pro 15-inch, Early 2011 with
AMD Radeon HD 6490M 256 MB graphics. I mostly stream You Tube, Netflix, & news videos and occasionally watch movies I have in iTunes or on DVD, and since upgrading, I've seen out of sync video and audio in every one of these situations. Sometimes it starts out OK and then slowly deteriorates. Other times it just starts out that way and stays that way. Happens with all browsers as well as iTunes and DVD Player. Tried a few Google searches but haven't come across any postings reporting this with Lion, so I thought I would try here. Thanks for any confirmations and/or pointers to a solution if there is one.

Ahh...boom. I have it too. Forgot it was even there. I had it turned off back when running Snow Leopard since it was glitchy. Apparenty, I somehow reenabled it and wasn't even aware it was on since its volume was turned down. After disabling it, all video & audio appears to be in sync.
boom...the sound you'll hear as I nuke it from my system.
Thanks efrancis76 for figuring this out. Much appreciated!

  • My Video and Audio are not syncing up after importing

I am trying to edit a few Ipad Clips in premier pro.  My video and audio are not syncing.  They are .mov lower resolution from the ipad.  The original audio is fine - but after I put in a sequence the audio is off a few seconds (ahead).  I did not add any affects or change anything.  Please advise?
Thanks for any help in advance.
    Allison

Premiere does not work well with variable frame rate video which, I expect, the ipad produces, You might have to convert the footage before you import it into Premiere. Do a forum search for variable frame rate, there are a lot of posts.
