Audio lost on all imported clips

I've been importing video for the past week. The video has played back with no issues. Upon my latest reopen, I've been unable to get any sound out of my videos. The video indicator under the preview screen (upper left) does not reflect sounds. I hear all other audio on my PC with no issue.
What happened to my audio on my tracks?!

Is there a grey screen as well as no sound? If so, I have the same problem and ended up going to another program...there was no fixing it : (
Grey screen and no sound would likely be a corrupted Project or Event thumbnail file(s). (I.e. frame indices no long point to valid source audio/video frames.) Some users have reported success at forcing a "re-generation" of such files by deleting or removing the bad thumbnail files. Have not tried it myself.

    hi,
I lost my all important notes.Earlier i was using itunes old version n today i used itunes11. I sinked it and idon't have notes now. plz can anybody help me???

You can use Find My Phone to wipe the phone by logging on to iCloud.com with your computer as described in the following support article.  However, if Find My iPhone was not activated on that phone, you will have to restore using a computer with iTunes 11.1.

  • While working in iMovie, computer shut down and all imported clips from that project disappeared. The project still existed, with titles, but all video clips were gone from the movie as well as the computer library.

Clips were imported from SD card into iMovie project. While working on the project, computer shut down. When restarted, all clips from that event were no longer in the project, or in the computer library. Project existed, with titles, but blank spaces exist where clips had been.

OH MY GOD! This EXACT thing just happened to me! It didn't save my event and didn't show the date in the iMovie library but if I look under all projects, the project is there. Except that there are little blank place holders where all my clips were. Also the title of the project has a little yellow "!" symbol next to it which I can only assume means that the file is corrupted.
I can't believe it destroyed like 8 hours of work!

  • Why can't I separate audio tracks when I import clips from an sd card into FCP 7

  • All imported clips must be rendered prior to playback

    Hello,
I'm pretty new to FCE and I discovered a problem when trying to do a slo-mo effect. It came up with a bad stuttering effect and after I described all of my actions, someone explained to me that I shouldn't have to render each HDV clip I move to my timeline, but they all appear with a red line above them.
I'm importing directly into FCE via firewire from my Sony DVR-HC3. I've gone into Easy Setup and chosen the Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60 (I've also tried other settings to see if they would help as well).
All clips will play in the viewer when selected from the browser, but require rendering before they will play in the timeline. Can anyone tell me what (if anything) I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    Lawrence

THAT'S IT!!! You solve TWO problems in one answer!
I control-clicked on the sequence in my browser and chose "Settings." From there, I selected "Load Sequence Preset" and it was already on Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60.
I clicked "OK" and now everything I import does NOT require rendering! It also solved my slo-mo issue and I'm off to add a note to that post as well.
    Thanks again Tom!
Oh, and your book is fantastic. It's helped me clear up a LOT about FCE and I'm really glad I bought it.

  • No audio on import clips

Using iMovie 6.0.3 on my new Power Mac. Importing via firewire from Canon ZR500. No audio when I play imported clips. I can see audio wave after extracting. Speakers turned on. I can hear the audio sound affects and iTunes songs from the iMovie browser, but they don't play once placed in timeline.
    What is up??
Using same camera I have no problem on my iBook G4

I think it is called " Video Play Through Camera ", Karsten.
    Language barrier, I think.
    no, it's called...
"Video eines DV-Projekts auf DV-Kamera anzeigen"
    .. to be korrekt...
thanks, Sue, for correction.. indeed, I toggle between English and German interface, just to post here the correct terms.. I was sure, I remember right.. nope.. where are my pills...? the red ones.. are for the brain...

  • Losing the audio track when moving a clip from the browser to the timeline

Today we were trying to add two clips from the browser in Final Cut Express HD to the timeline that was created yesterday. The problem is, the clips we were adding today are not moving with the audio tracks. All other clips from when we created the movie are fine but the two we added today have no sound. The audio works when viewing the clip in "viewer" but not once it is moved to the timeline. Any thoughts?

    Hi(Bonjour)!
Look at the left side of the time line, there is a device (the patch panel) to set the current video and audio target tracks. (little V1 and a1 a2 icons). Swith them to desired tracks to select the target audio tracks (that's where the video and audio-or just one of them-will be inserted in timeline upon editing). There is also a contextual menu (control click) with reset panel command.

    Thank you for your help!

Download/install an app is a know possible solution.
    3. Install another app from the App Store
If all user-installed apps are not launching, it could be an Apple ID authorization issue. Download and install an app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information.
Note: If you have installed apps using multiple Apple ID accounts, you may need to perform this step for each account.

  • Audio missing when importing clips

Hi, importing clips from my Sony handycam, no audio is available. Even opening the single clip file with Quicktime, no audio. Don't think it's the camera, as long as I tried with another similar model and the same problem occurs.

Hi all, just updating iMovie to 9.0.7 version the issue was fixed.
    Thx all

  • Why does Pro CC suddenly remove audio from all imported files regardless of format? Was working perfectly before.

This problem happened overnight with no changes to settings, etc. I've tried importing every format available and the audio is removed from all. Thanks for any help...

Okay, then I suspect it's a source patching issue. Make sure that an audio track is selected for source patching.
You can learn more here: Adobe Premiere Pro Help | Source patching and track targeting
As to the audio waveform icon, or 'badge,' I'm guessing you have the Project panel in the icon view, in which case the audio badge indicates that the clip has linked audio. I should have been more specific and asked about the icon in the list view. That's where you should see the combo badge for a clip with video and audio.

  • Interrupted audio extraction, now audio LOST on some clips!

I was extracting audio from several clips. As it was running I realized I did not need to extract from all the clips, only one. Since extracting audio takes SO LONG, I pressed the CANCEL button during extraction. Now some of the clips had already extracted and those are fine (with extracted audio) but the remaining clips which did not extract now have NO AUDIO at all. HELP!!!! I need to recover the lost audio without losing the hours I already spent editing and arranging clips.

    Hi n
    Are You sure.
If advanced user and really know this, then You need to:
    • delete iMovie pref file
    • Repair premissions - Apple Disk Util tool
    • Repair Hard disk - Apple Disk Util tool - You need to start from CD/DVD or external hard disk to do this.
If not so sure or a beginner:
    • When Extracting audio the original sound is not moved from Your Clip only silenced. If You turn on
audio adjustment "rubber-band" then You just increas the audio of Your clip to 100% ant ther it is.
Last point is my main bet.
iMovie is a non-destructive movie editor. That's why Your sound should be with Your clip and just
    silenced after extracting.

  • Audio Drops Out at End of Imported Clips

    Hi, Guys,
I have read everything and tried everything, but I can't find a solution to something which seems like it should be obvious:
I am in the process of uploading some TV programs to YouTube. I am using iMovie '11 to cut them into chunks of less than 15 minutes each. When I import the material into iMovie from a file, iMovie automatically breaks the source material into ~5 minute clips. For some reason, the sound for the last half-second or so at the end of each clip is automatically muted by the import process. Needless to say when I cut the clips back together in an attempt to recreate the video stream as it originally was, there is a half-second of audio drop-out marking the spot where the clips are welded together.
How can I get this to stop???
I notice that the advertising makes a big point of 'iMovie HD' allowing the user to adjust the length of the clips that it cuts source material into during import. Please tell me this is not a work-around for this problem 10 years after-the-fact!
    Thank you.

I used to have a saying which I applied to John Cage's compositions:
"He's got nothing to say, and he's saying it. And that's BS."
Faceless capricious corporate censorship is good HOW?
As regards iMovie '11 muting a short bit of audio from the ends of clips, it turns out to be the beginnings of the clips:
My prior post uncovered a very different problem in my process. (At the time, a virtually non-existent process!)
    Now I have learned my up the learning curve to the point where I am beginning to actually use some of the functionality in iMovie '11. Unfortunately my original observation of "a bit of sound" (50 to 100 milliseconds) disappearing between clips is still a problem. Here are 3 minimalist examples in the form of short test vids: {Just click "Play all". Titles projected over the vid list what you are hearing. The "about box" (YouTube "Description:" field) contains even more detail.}
    http://www.youtube.com/viewplaylist?p=7E219251FC3C5FEC
I can now characterize this problem in more detail than I could previously:
The first 50 - 100 milliseconds of sound are squelched in the beginning of a clip when it is uploaded to YouTube from iMovie. This is NOT a YouTube transcoder issue. Reloading multiple copies of the same clip into iMovie yield the same result there: Dead sound between clips.
This demonstrates that iMovie chops the first ~50 milliseconds of audio off of the beginning of a vid when it "shares" (exports) it. Apparently the missing audio in some way becomes an "attribute"of the clip (like a crossfade transition that you can't remove from the beginning!), because attempts to trim the squelched audio off of the beginning of the clip meet with failure; the "bad leading edge" stays with the clip, even after the apparently offending segment has intentionally been discarded.
I checked the audio gaps with Audition, and, while I was guessing 50 - 100 ms, it turns out to be exactly 52 milliseconds of audio is squelched at the beginning of a clip. (I tried to display the image of the spectral & time-domain response here, but I can't figure out how to upload TIFFs into this forum.)
I am sure this must be the result of some simple default setting in iMovie which automatically adds a "style" or something to my vid clips upon export, but I have tried everything I can find, and, if it is, I haven't managed to reliably turn if off yet.
N.B. if I remain inside an iMovie editing session, and paste pieces together into clips without exporting the clip, or interrupting the session (as I did to produce the test vids), everything is fine. But as soon as I save a clip, the first 52 ms of audio seems to irrecoverably disappear. That continues to hold true no matter which frame in the clip subsequently becomes the new beginning.
Please forgive my iMovie newbie ignorance, but: How do I get it to STOP???
    Thank you.

  • Importing tape into Imovie 11. How do I import all the clips as one long clip?

How do I import all the clips as one long clip? I have 45 min of footage and I want it as one long take I can edit in Final Cut ProX. When I import, all the clips are split up when the scene cuts. I just want the 45 min in one long video.

iMovie will import the tape as if it is direct from the camera. It will sense the scene breaks and put all the clips in chronological order.
If you want to import it as one long clip, I suggest you load the tape into the app that you edited the tape with. Then export it out as a QuickTime movie in the DV codec. You can import this MOV file into FCPX or iMovie.

OK, here are a set of screenshots with my step by step - maybe you will be able to spot where I've gone awry:
I find a photo in the Library that I will delete from an album:
I go down to my Albums and find the picture in one of them:
I hover over the pic so the little down arrow appears in the bottom right-hand corner. I click on it, then click on the Trash Can in the window that drops down:
