Audio messing up unless on solo

I have recorded a full-length song on Garageband, and in between verses, something happens to the audio and it sounds like the vocal tracks ONLY are being sung in a can.
If I solo the vocals tracks, the audio sounds perfect, but then when I unsolo it and put it back with the rest of the project, the vocals sound weird again. However, once the audio sounds funky, if I stop playback and then start it again, it also sounds perfect, like nothing ever happened. This is only a problem when I begin playback prior to the second verse. I can't think of any reasons that this would happen, and I have gone through and tried everything I know. Can someone help me out? Thanks!

Thanks for getting back to me again so quickly. The setting was already off, so unfortunately, that didn't help me at all. I should clarify and say that when the audio tracks sound distorted and like they're in a can, all of the other tracks sound normal - normal volume, everything.

  • Why is the audio messed up when I import a trimmed video from my iPhone to iMovie?

    Hi,
well i've been having this problem and it would be great if somebody could help me with it. So I imported a clip from my iPhone 4S to my iMac in iMovie and the audio is all messed up. It's way to fast and at the end of the clip there's no sound at all. I realised that it only happens to clips that I've trimmed on my iPhone. The clips work perfectly fine on my phone but like I said when I import them to iMovie the audio doesn't work properly. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me with this. Thanks

Thank you for your reply. However, I was hoping to avoid manually configuring the account on Mail. I would like to know if there is a way to make my iPhone do the configuration. For example, on Mail if I go to File>Import Mailboxes... I would be able to do it, except iPhone's bluetooth does not support data sharing, therefore this method won't work. Is there another way that I can actually import the email account information from my iPhone to my Mac?
    Thank you

  • Audio messing up half way thru video

I imported an avi file into final cut and rendered the audio and the video. Once in final cut pro half way thru the video the audio becomes garbled and sounds like I'm trying to play two different audio tracks at once. I checked the original avi file and the problem does not exist. I'm on a MAJOR deadline of course, does anyone have any ideas of what my problem might be? thanks so much!

Natively supported FCP formats are those listed in your EASY PRESET list.
You can find the codec by opening the file in QT Pro then using the Apple + I (get info).
While in QT Pro, you can choose FILE>EXPORT then EXPORT>Movie to Quicktime Movie
Under OPTIONS select the appropriate FCP native codec (format) and write out the file. Import that into FCP and things should be better.
    Good luck,

  • After updating to Yosemite audio is monophonic unless I change the balance in System Prefs

After updating to Yosemite I have to go into System Prefs after every reboot to change the balance in sound to make sound stereo, always defaults to the right speaker.  Anyone know what the fix for this is?  Repair perms? External audio device conflict?  Using Logitech speaker system w/ 2 satellite speakers and a sub-woofer and never had a problem w/ them over the past 10 yrs.

  • Audio messing up half way into video

I recently bought a video ipod and also downloaded videora ipod converter. I had a copy of Gone in Sixty Seconds ripped onto my computer so I used videora to convert it to an mpeg-4. Then i imported it into itunes and copied it to my ipod. I then went to my videos on my ipod and began watching it. It was great until about halfway into the video. All of a sudden, the audio was lagging behind the video and people's mouths were moving before the words came out. Why did it begin to do this halfway into the video when it doesn't do it on other videos?

  • Audio messed up in BD

I was trying to build a BD using two clips made with PPro in H.264 Bluray format.  After creating chapters and menus, the preview looks fine and the audio was in sync.  However, once built onto the BD-R, even the navigation is still OK, the audio is gone except for the first chapter where the audio was apparently the one from another chapter later.  I have tried to use several different menus later but the results were the same.  Strange enough, I made a BD only two weeks ago using the same approach and the disk was perfect.
    Any idea what happened?

Bingo! Stan, you were right on the money!!
Thank you so much.  I have spent the whole night yesterday trying to figure out what has gone wrong.  Putting clips on different timelines is OK, but it will be harder to leverage the automatic chapter index creation on submenus.

  • Ipod Audio Messed Up

My ipod is only playing audio through the left ear. Is there a way to fix this w/o having it replaced/service.

Have you tried another set of headphones? If not, do so and if it works correctly you have bad headphones. If it doesn't work you can try restoring your iPod but it probably has a bad headphone jack and will need to be serviced.

  • Solo/Mute modes faulty in Audio Mixer

Has anyone else noticed this bug in PP CS 5.5 Audio Mixer: When you have more than 1 audio track in your sequence, you press Solo button, and all the other tracks except the one you're soloing, should mute. Alternately, if you press Mute, just that track should mute. However, when I depress either the Mute or Solo button, they both produce the same result; the track button pressed, mutes.

Damndest thing..! I noticed this bug while doing a big project. I am now on sequence 3 of the project, which also has 3 audio tracks. I click Solo this morning (by accident) and it works as it should. Adobe, this bug is growing bigger... please get some robo-insecticide and kill it (bit by bit, or byte!) It has given me countless unnecessary work-arounds which is time-wasting.
Background: I honestly was'nt sure of something: I thought the buttons did work correctly at one time, but because I started this project on PP2, then moved it to CS 4, then to CS 5.5, I thought I was mistaken, and that it must've been while on PP2 or PP4 that my memory seems to recall that it worked properly. But now that I see it working properly this a.m. on PP 5.5, I believe my memory was correct, that it did indeed work properly on PP 5.5 in the beginning, then went rogue.

  • Crashes due to soloing audio tracks?

Has anybody else experienced problems with Premiere having a hard time dealing with soloing and muting audio tracks?  We've been having periodic crashes throughout our project and we're narrowing down the problems as much as we can.  We're using 4K multi cam sequences with three cameras, which is already a beast for the computers to handle, but we're working on the most recent iMac and a new Mac Pro.  Both with 24G RAM.  The problem most likely has something to do with Premiere and not the computers.  We're thinking either corrupt media/project, or it's something to do with the audio mixer having trouble with soloing and muting.
Does this sound familiar to anyone else?

    Hi Nathan,
This is the first I've heard of this. Can you please file a bug report? http://adobe.ly/ReportBug
It will be read by our staff and we will try to replicate the issue to provide a fix.
Hopefully, others pushing 3 or more 4K streams using multicam on the new Mac Pro can report back, as well.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Why I have to mute Audio Voice Recording Track always in order to subdue the voice recorded when I want to solo other tracks, audio or midi for listening. The other audio tracks don't sound without being muted. Please advise how to deal with this .Thanks

Why I have to mute the Audio Voice recording track  ( the first voice track ) always in order to sudue its recorded sound while I want to listen to other
tracks ( either audio or midi tracks ) in solo ?The other audio tracks with voice recording do not have to be muted in order not to  interfere with other
tracks turned on solo. Can someone kindly explain this phenomenon and any way to fix this ?
    Thanks
    Dan

    Thanks, ATR,
I wll try this--but I still am unclear on how to do what the Manual says is possible: select clips on another track that WILL be moved, if I so desire, so as to remain synched to the main Video track.
    UPDATE:
In the case of inserting Freeze Frame, I just tried both Ctrl method and Alt method, and neither worked.
    1. Put Video on Vid1 track
    2. Put Music on Sound Track
    3. Ran a few seconds of Vid
    4. Stopped Vid, selected Freeze Frame
    5. Held down Ctrl key while clicking "Insert in Movie"  also tried with holding down Alt key.
Result: a 3 second still was inserted int the Vid1 track.  A corresponding gap was created in the Sound Track.
    6. Slid the final part of the Sound Track to the left along the timeline to re-connect it to the next segment created by the above process.
Result: the video following the final Freeze Frame was pushed to the right end of  Video1 track.
    7. Slid the Sound Track all the way to the left.
Result: the entire Video 1 Track contents were pushed to the right and divided in pieces.
I documented each step with screen shots which I can send if you want them and if I can figure out how to do it.
    UPDATE #2
In the case of inserting a video clip to the Timeline, I just tried both Ctrl method and Alt method, and neither worked.
    1. Locate video in Project Assets
2a. R click video in Project Assets (pull-down menu appears), hold down Ctrl, click Insert to Timeline.
Result: Vid clip is inserted on Video 1 track, Sound Track is separated with a corresponding gap.
2b.  R click video in Project Assets (pull-down menu appears), push Alt
Result: pull-down menu disappears as soon as Alt is pushed down.
I can stil drag the Vid clip but it's one more manual step...I love shortcuts!!

  • GT80 Titan 094 - Realtek HD Audio Manager

On the Speakers -> Speaker Configuration tab the Speaker Configuration drop-down only lists stereo as an option yet in various online forums and tutorials I see options for Dolby 5.1, THX 7.1 and other theater level surround sound choices.
The stereo option appears even when I have four external speakers and subwoofer connected.
Is there a driver update or something else I need to upgrade in order to have support for these other sound options?

    Hi rpisarzjr,
My GT80 2QE (Titan-001) is the same and this is perfectly normal. I think part of the problem you're having is the unclear labeling of the tabs in the Realtek HD Audio Manager.
The Realtek DSP (digital signal processor) in our Titans has two audio "outputs": (1) analog and (2) digital. Each one appears as an output "device". The analog output is labeled "Speakers" and feeds the stereo headphone jack and the built-in speakers. The built-in speakers are only stereo, too, even though they have five drivers (two full-range transducers per each of the two stereo channels and one subwoofer that is shared by both stereo channels).
Some notebooks include analog surround sound outputs and therefore have Dolby Digital and/or DTS controls in their Audio Manager software. But it is rare and our GT80 Titans do not. The tab labeled "Speakers" is the analog tab. Since the Titan does not include analog outputs for surround sound, you will not see any surround sound options under the "Speakers" tab.
The only way to get true surround sound out of the Realtek DSP in the Titan is via its digital output. It uses an S/PDIF optical jack which must be connected via Toslink optical cable to a complimentary digital input to an external DSP. This could be a home theatre receiver, HDTV with built-in surround sound decoding, or a high-end computer speaker system with its own DSP.
When you use the Realtek DSP's digital output for Dolby Digital or DTS surround sound, the Realtek DSP serves only as a "pass-through" device to send the unprocessed digital surround sound signal out the S/PDIF connector. That's why you must have an external DSP to decode it to the analog audio that your external speakers will need.
It is not normal to find any digital surround sound controls in the Realtek HD Audio Manager software unless Dolby Digital Live has been activated. The Realtek DSP in our Titans is capable of generating a Dolby Digital Live signal from a non-surround stereo source but MSI apparently didn't license the technology and did not provide the controls for it in the Realtek HD Audio Manager. However, if you search the internet, you will find some hacks that enable you to activate it, yourself. Just remember: The only way you'll hear any digital surround sound is with the digital output using an external DSP that can decode the Dolby Digital (or DTS) signal. None of this will benefit the analog ("Speakers") output because it is hardwired only for stereo operation. Plus, the built-in amplifier in our Titans has only two channels and only does stereo.
Don't confuse "fake" surround sound for the real deal. For example, MSI's new Nahimic software will create a "fake" surround sound effect which you can hear over stereo speakers or headphones. It messes with the phasing of the two-channel audio signal to trick your ears into thinking the sound stage is quasi-surround. But these are just gimmicks which add distortion and are worthless in my opinion.
Unfortunately, this stuff is way more complicated than it needs to be.
Our Titans also have digital audio outputs as a part of their HDMI and mDP ports. These are the video outputs from our NVidia GPUs. If you total all of the built-in audio outputs in our Titans, we have five. One digital audio output each for the three video outputs, one digital audio output for the Realtek DSP, and one analog ("Speakers") output from the Realtek DSP which feeds both the headphone jack and the internal speakers. Each of the four digital outputs can pass a full 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound signal.
Finally, the digital audio is usually controlled in the application where the audio originates---not with the Realtek HD Audio Manager. For example, when I play a blu-ray movie, the surround sound audio controls are in my Cyberlink PowerDVD software. The Dolby Digital or DTS selection is made there along with the speaker configuration.
    Kind regards, David

  • MBP Audio Input only works in Garageband?

I have multiple audio/music apps installed. Can't get samples through my line-in via anything but Garageband; which I don't really use a lot. I use a Presonus USB audio interface when I'm in the office but at home or on the road I usually just plug in through the line-in built-in input. I literally can't get any audio to work unless I have an active track being monitored in GB. It's got to either be something I've really messed up or something incredibly simple that I'm missing (anti-feedback?). Here's all I have installed that I know of:
    Traktor
    Maschine 2
    Audacity
    Garageband
    Soundflower
    PreSonus Studio One 2 (basic)
Have checked through system pref/midi settings/audio routing for each of these apps... any ideas?

What I was expecting was other people chiming in on this with possible solutions to stream audio only. Aside from simply "buy something new" .
If Apple makes a product that has a separate output for audio and they advertise and sell that product stating that you can use it with AirPlay to "listen to music", then to me it seems pretty obvious you don't need to turn on your television all the time to use these aspects of that product. Of course you need a power lead to watch video, that's something that has not to be said, I follow you there. If however you have to turn on your TV to simply listen to music (despite the fact that you have a dedicated output for music), THAT is imho something that needs to be said if that's the case... That's not obvious, that's just nonsense; why would you need to watch if the only thing you want to do is listen?
Anyway, semantics aside and wether Apple does or does not state certain things, you're answers were also helpful (for which I thank you) because they made me look at this problem from a different angle.  So this morning I thought: if my TV sends a bad off/standby signal to my HDMI and that in turn is blocking my optical audio out, why don't I just unplug the HDMI cable from the Apple TV and only use the optical audio out?
And eureka! I've been enjoying an hour of nice Airplayed music without my TV on!
So thanks a lot for putting me on the right track and sorry if I acted a bit annoyed, but I really felt had a point here. As did you Anyway, nice to be able to have a decent online discussion without things getting out of hand and with the additional bonus that my initial problem is now solved! (which, as a final note, is something very simple that could easily be stated in the manual: "if you want to use the optical audio out of your Apple TV to stream music, it is advised that you unplug the HDMI cable to prevent unwanted standby/off signals". )
    Thanks for your help!
