Audio midi utility won't let me configure midi

I have a mid 2012 Macbook pro. It won't let me configure anything in the Midi part of the Audio MIdi untility. I don't want to use any external midi devices. Does anyone know why?
Thanks.

Here's the error message:
Audio MIDI Setup couldn’t open the MIDI Server so you can’t view or edit your MIDI configurations.
If you recently installed a new MIDI driver, try uninstalling it and then open Audio MIDI Setup again.  If Audio MIDI Setup works correctly after that, contact the driver’s manufacturer for further support.

  • Aiport Admin Utility won't let me configure my settings.

Ok first let me tell how to get to my problem. (note this is a Extreme 802.11n router)
I opened up Airport Admin Utility hoping to change the radio mode so I could connect to xbox live (MAC FIX THAT PROBLEM NOW!!!), so I then select to make on the base station I want to configure. Then the settings screen opened, BUT a warning message pops up and it says
    Configuration Error
This version of AirPort Admin Utility does not support this base station. You can't update the software for this base station, but you may be able configuration changes to it. Please go to www.apple.com/support to locate a newer version of the Airport Admin Utility.
What do I do, and where do I go?

The disc that came in the box with the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) has the "AirPort Utility".
You must use the "AirPort Utility" not the "AirPort Admin Utility".

  • LabVIEW won't let me configure DAQ assistant

    Hi,
When I launch the Data Acquisition with NI-DAQmx.vi and double click the DAQ assistant icon on the block diagram the program won't let me configure the DAQ.  Also, right clicking on the DAQ and selecting properties does nothing.  How do configure the DAQ to allow me to use input channels on my NI-ELVIS board and then display the output on graphs in labview?
    Thank you.

    Hi cd384-
In general, you can have two (or more) DAQ Assistants in the same VI.  I assume, however, that you're trying to have separate DAQ Assistants for analog input and this definitely will not work.  You must group all tasks of the same type (analog input, analog output) within the same DAQ Assistant or DAQmx Task.  You can add multiple channels by holding control and selecting multiple items when you are initially configuring the DAQ Assistant.
In order to separate signals in LabVIEW you can use the Split Signals function that is available on several palettes.  To find it, just click "Search" from the functions palette and search for "Split Signals"
    Thanks-

  • Disk Utility won't let me do anything with broken flash drive?

    Hi there,
I own an 8GB SanDisk flashdrive that recently, and out of nowhere, changed permissions to write only. I feel like this may have something to do with the fact that when it was in my old Macbook I would close the screen with it still inserted and it would eject itself and the drive has possibly become corrupt because of this happening one too many times? Anyhow, when moving files around and to my new Macbook and what not, I tried to move some from this USB and it wouldn't let me. I eventually worked out that it would let me copy the files and paste them elsewhere, but now I have this flash drive with a bunch of files that can still be read and I don't know what to do with it because it won't let me delete them either. When I try it comes up with "The item can't be moved to the trash because it can't be deleted." I've tried Disk Utility and this is what happens under the First Aid, Erase and Partition options
I've also tried the appropriate commands in terminal to try to get the disk utility to respond and I kept recieving error messages there too. Also, when I click on the volume underneath the disk it shows all the space that all the files that are very much there are taking up but then also says there's zero files.
Anyone know what on earth is going on?! I mean I know the USB has probably just had it but I'm wondering if there's any possible way I can repair or erase it at this point?

I suspect that the USB is dead.  This is the result I get when I insert my USB drive formatted the same as yours:
Note that the options are not grayed out.
You might connect it to a PC, if available, and see if there is any difference.
    Ciao.

  • Airport utility does not let me configure music setting.

I have Windows Vista and an older wireless Airport Express. I downloaded the airport utility 5.3.2. and configured it to join my existing network in order to stream Itunes to my speakers. Everything looks fine as I have a greenlight. The problem is that when I open Itunes 8.0.2 it does not show the dropdown that says computer/speakers. Itunes is set to discover speakers so I went back into the airport utility and selected settings but the option to choose music is grayed out. Anyone have any ideas. My router is a Netgear Wireless N and is backward compatible to B/G. I tried just using a wireless b/G router and had the same problem. I use no software firewall.

Do you have bonjour running on your system ?
If not, here's where you can get it, and then try again.

  • Disk Utility won't let me format external drive to FAT32

Maybe this cannot be done or the answer is simple and I am missing it. I have a 1.5tb Maxtor drive hooked up via fw800. I want to have 120gb of this as Mac OS extended journaled to back up my internal drive via Time Machine. I want the other 1.38tb to be in FAT32 so I can share files between my windows and mac machines. I keep all of my external storage except for the backup partition in FAT32. I have never had an issue until I upgrades to Leopard and now when I click on the larger partition I only have the option for the 4 mac formats-- FAT32 is not available. I can format the entire 1.5tb to FAT32 but once I try and partition it only mac formats are available. I forgot to mention I just did the upgrade to 10.5.1 and the issue is still present.
How do I format the smaller partition as mac os extended journaled and the larger as FAT32? Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks so much,
    Patrick
PS. I did a search but did not find anything.

It may depend on the type of partition table scheme you are using (see bottom of page in disk utility for that says Apple Partition Map/APM, GUID Partition table/GPT or Master Boot Record/MBR partition map).
MS-Windows can read MBR scheme only (64 bit MS-Windows supports GPT, according to MS). If you have Apple Partition Map, your disk won't be usable on Windows. I suspect you have APM partition table and hence the disk utility is not giving the option for FAT32 format, since you can't use it under MS-Windows.
On the Mac side, all 3 schemes are readable (for bootability, you'll need APM on PPC Macs, GPT for Intel Macs). Time Machine doesn't need a bootable disk, but I'd suggest APM/GPT if you are using PPC/Intel macs respectively (but I'd think either will work for Time Machine, if you have a mix of Macs).
But here's the catch - Apple says Time Machine won't work with drives with MBR partition map (even though Macs are MBR-aware), so the issue for you is Time Machine's ability to use MBR drives. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306932
I suspect unless you are on an Intel Macs (OS X) and use only 64 bit MS-Windows (using GPT)/Itanium, using the same disk for TM and FAT32 sharing between Mac and Win worlds is not possible. Not the desirable answer.
If you do want to experiment, make a temporary setup and try it out on both Mac side and Windows side first (on all your machines), before making a "production" system. You can select the DISK (first line on Disk Utility for that disk, not second line) and click on Options at the left bottom (it might have to be erased first) and then select the type of partition scheme. Note formats like HFS+/FAT32 are a level lower in the hierarchy than partition map/table.
Let us know what you find out/decide?

  • Airport utility won't go past configuring to complete setup

Seems to be in a loop. Set up fine to existing network on my mac but having difficulties setting up on pcs. thanks for help.

So you have a (presumably) fully-configured AirPort base station and you're trying to use AirPort Utility on a Windows system in hopes that would allow the Windows system to connect to the AirPort base station, but the Windows system can't see it?
If all that's true, I wouldn't expect AirPort Utility on the Windows system to help with that problem.
What version of Windows is running on that Windows system? If XP, if you right-click on the wireless network icon in the System Tray and select "View Available Wireless networks", you can't see the network that your AirPort base station is creating? (There's something similar in Vista that I won't try to describe at this point.)

  • Airport Utility won't let me change time capsule settings....

I've had my TC about 2 weeks, and haven't had any problems until now....
when I am in close proximity, i use it with an ethernet cable, and if i am in other parts of the house i will set it to transmit wirelessly. up until now there hasn't been any problems with this. now however, it is connected via ethernet, and when i open airport utility it recognises the TC, but when i click continue to update the settings and change it back to wireless, it get's stuck on the "reading the time capsule's configuration..." page, and after five minutes says "there was an error with the connection-6722".
I can read files from the TC and write to it. i just can't update the settings! can anyone help??
    thankyou.

This has me a bit confused as to why you're doing this.
I say this because my Macbook is sometimes directly connected to the TC over a wired network connection, and sometimes wirelessly via the TC. It has no trouble backing up regardless of what connection is utilized. I just leave the wireless enabled on the TC, and so have no need to re-configure the TC. I can read the TC configuration with the Airport Utility via either connection.
I'm not sure this helps, but am I missing something??
Mac OS X, Airport Utility & TC all at latest levels......

are you talking about the options in the "internet connection type" on the router's web interface ??
if yes, then ensure that the firewall on the computer is disabled.

  • I have an external Time Machine drive that I want to reformat. I can't remember the password. How can I do this. Disk Utility won't let me. Thanks.

I have an iMac that had drive problems last winter. Took the iMac to the Apple Store and they reinstalled everything and now it works again. Only thing is that my external Time Machine drive is screwed up now. Its 1.5 TB.
I had the Time Machine drive partioned into two parts. One partion was for an emergency bootup using carbon copy cloner. That partion I can open and mounts on my desktop. The other partion was Time Machine. It once upon a time opened and mounted without a password.
It requests a password to unlock even though I never had it password protected before the iMac drive problems. And so now it won't mount the drive.
I can go to Disk Utilities and I can see Time Machine with both partions. The Carbon Copy partion is mounted. The Time Machine partion is not mounted. For this reason I can't select it and erase it.
What the heck am I supposed ot do now to erase it and start over. Any help would be appreciated. I really don't want to go and buy another drive.
    Kevin

Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:
{ diskutil list; echo; diskutil cs list; } | open -f -a TextEdit
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V).
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Post the contents of that window, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.

  • Disk Utility won't let me erase or change the partitions on my external USB hard drive. What should I do?

I can't use the 'erase' function in my disk utility program or set up different partitions with my external USB drive. As I am able to do this for another external hard drive, I assume the problem is not a software problem but connected to this specific USB drive. However, I wonder what other options do I have? Is there any software that can 'force' a complete deletion of everything of the USB drive?

That or another Mac OS X installation.

  • Disk Utility won't let me select "Repair" button - help!

I'm trying to upgrade from 10.3.9 to 10.4. When I run Installation, it fails and gives me a message that I need to repair my hard drive. So I restarted from the DVD, selected Disk Utility, clicked on my hard drive and was able to click on Verify. When it got done, it said the disk needed repairs. But the Repair button is grayed out. Any suggestions on either the trouble with the install or why I can't select Repair?
    Thanks.

Usually, being able to select the internal HD and click on Verify but not Repair indicates one is actually booted up from the internal HD rather than the optical drive. Which drive is shown at the top of the Disk Utility list on the left?
What 10.4 version (e.g., 10.4.8) is shown on your retail black label Tiger 10.4 Install disc?
You can also try repairing the drive using the file system check fsck utility in single user mode, as described in Using Disk Utility and fsck.
When making disk repairs, repeat the repair until the utility reports no problems found or until it reports being unable to make further repairs. It's possible for one disk directory problem to mask another.

  • Disk Utility won't let me repair disk

    Hello Mac helpers,
When I run Disk Utility on my hard disk it reports: "First Aid Failed.
The Underlying Task Reported Failure on Exit."
    Also:"1 HFS Volume Checked
    Volume Needs Repair."
However the "Repair Disk" button does not illuminate so I cannot repair the disk as instructed.
    Any and all suggestions welcome.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

You will need to contact Apple if you no longer have the recovery disks that came with your MacBook. They will probably charge you for a replacement. Thanks for the .
