Audio missing on burnt DVD

I keep burning the DVD but it always is missing audio in the same place!!! what can i do to fix this!?!?

Hi I
Most common origins to this is:
a - audio used are - downloads from iTunes
b - mp3 audio
c - to little free space on internal hard disk (can give many strange errors)
d - bad/cheap media
e - to fast burning speed (can't be changed in iDVD - work around)
a. Save out the needed audio from iTunes as an audio CD .aiff - use this in
Your movie project
b. convert to .aiff and use this
c. after Your iDVD project is composed. There should be more than 25Gb free
on the internal hard disk
d. There are medias with better (more) dye and those with less: I use
Verbatim DVD-R (no +R or +/-RW) disks
e. I save as "Disk Image" down in File menu. And burn this with Roxio Toast™
but You can also use Apple Disk Util tool
AND set the burn speed as slow as possibly eg x1, x2 or x4 => Less errors

  • Audio missing on burned DVD

Follow me on this one: Made an iMovie and shared it with iDVD. Did all the menu items, etc. and burned the DVD. After watching the DVD, I wanted to make some edits. I went into iMovie and did the edits.
I did not create a new iDVD with the edited iMovie because I happened to discover that when I made the edits in iMovie, they actually translated to the original iDVD. So I saved the project in both iMovie and iDVD and burned the new DVD.
PROBLEM: Everything came out perfect except, the audio. I have audio on the menu (which I put there) but there is no audio throughout the rest of the DVD.
I checked my iMovie and audio is there. I reviewed the iDVD project on my computer and the audio is there. I checked the audio levels on iMovie and they're at 100%. I made sure that the "check boxes" on the 3 lines of audio were checked and operable. I checked the "map" on iDVD and there is no indication of any audio issues. Yet, when I play the newly burned DVD, there is no audio other than the menu music.
    Help!!!

Before you burn an updated project, it is a good idea to "Delete Encoded Assets" from the Advanced menu. That will start you afresh with new encoding for the updated project.
If you have incorrectly placed chapter markers in your movie, sometimes that can cause audio problems on a DVD. Make sure that you remove or reset any chapter marker within 1 second of the beginning or end of your movie, or in a transition. This would include the "beginning" marker that is automatically set.
You also could try dragging your iMovie project into a new iDVD project, and burning from there.
Instead of burning directly from iDVD, save the iDVD project as a disk image (an option from the File menu), wait until the assets have encoded (it takes a while), and then play the disk image by double clicking on it, and then clicking on your DVD player app icon on your Mac. If it plays fine, then your encoding is O.K. The next step would be to try burning a DVD from the Disk Image by using the Utilities/Disk Utility app on your Mac. Open the Disk Utility window and you should see your Disk Image icon displayed in the left hand pane. If it's not there, drag it into that pane. Select it and click on the burn symbol at the top of the window. Insert a DVD-R disk and then click on the "burn" button.

  • Audio missing on burned  DVD's

Hi, After completing a project I try to burn a DVD on PE3. It burns the picture fine nut no audio. I try to burn the same to hard drive and again, good picture but no sound. Yet I am able to transfer it to tape no problem!
What could be the cause? My DVD playback software reports no audio stream on the VOB files, so it looks like its not encoding audio. (I've checked all the settings.)
    Thanks

    Mark C Lawrie
The reason that I questioned you on the Vaio involvement was
    1. I thought that I remembered a similar PE3/Vaio problem at another web site which ended with Adobe saying that there was no fix for it for PE3 and 4.
    2. And, there is the following Steve Grisetti FAQ on this kind of a topic:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b5a5ae
Since Steve Grisetti is visiting this topic, for now I will step aside, just temporarily, for his further comments. I want to make sure that I am not mixing "apples and oranges" in my thoughts as applied to your specific situation. As author of the FAQ, he will tell us if I have.
Many times, users have the same outwardly manifested problem, but have different causes for the problem.
    To be continued, if necessary.....

  • A small logo of Dolby Digital or DVD-Audio missing when play DVD-A or DVD software with SPDIF

I can see these logo before when I play DVD-A or play DVD movies with SPDIF enabled on DVD software such as PowerDVD. And now it's gone, when play SPDIF, it does not show these logos at all.
    I appreciate any advises.
    Thanks

for the logos, someone asked how to know what kind of signal his card was decoding. I provided 2 examples:

    http://shingoyab.free.fr/creative/dts.jpg
if you don't see them but hear correct surround sound, don't bother. On some situation (not determined which one though) the logo disapears. I lost them some rare times. Last times was when listening to some DD music when programming small homeworks in OpenGL.

  • Problems with audio track when burnt to DVD

    Hi there,
I'm using CS4, and have created a 30 minute film which I've exported as an H.264 - it's 653MB. When I play this file from my PC, it's perfect. When I burn it to a data DVD, however, the audio track is interrupted every few seconds with blips of silence - like it's stalling. (I've been unable to burn it as a video DVD so far as the various software I've tried rejects the file format.)
I've burnt it twice on my laptop and once on another desktop with the same results. I urgently need to send the file to a Mac owner - what should I do? Could this be a fault with the file or with the burning software? Perhaps I didn't do something right with the audio track?
    I'll greatly appreciate your help!
    Thank you :-)

    For authoring a DVD-Video, follow Harm's advice and Export to DV-AVI Type II w/ 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV Audio.
For a DVD-Data, you should not have an issue with the H.264, BUT some have had problems if using Apple's H.264. Many users find that the Lead, or MainConcept H.264 has fewer issues.
Also, do you have a Matrox card? They have been known to cause Audio issues, so you will definitely want to update any Matrox drivers.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • No audio in burnt DVDs (another horror story)

Many have a similar problem but no one has quite the same:
    - in iMovie project, audio sounds great
    - in iDVD project, audio sounds great too
    - exports to my iPod just fine (with audio)
    - no audio when it reaches my DVD, however
    EXCEPTIONS:
    - audio is OK when playing with my iMac, iBook or any Wintel box;
    - any audio is OK if recorded in the main DVD menu;
    - all previous DVDs have OK audio, until last Saturday
In other words, no audio when playing with a regular DVD player.
I can see 2 potential causes:
    1. Computers can read a wider variety of audio formats than regular DVd players (strange, however, because the DVd playewr can read all DVDs burned before Saturday);
    2. Preferences/settings are not OK in iMovie or in iDVD.

    strange, however, because the DVd playewr can read all DVDs burned before Saturday);
I recommend a disk image burned to Verbatim DVD-R at 4X or slower using Toast or Disk Utility.
David Pogue also recommends Verbatim on page 356 of his latest book:
iMovie HD & iDVD 6: The Missing Manual
Quoting David: "Cheaper brands don't use the same amount of organic dyes and are more likely to suffer premature deaths."

  • DVD Audio missing on Pavilion a1730n

I purchased a refurbished Pavilion a1730n from the HP Store.  I have just discovered that there is no audio cable from the DVD Drive to the motherboard.  The DVD drive is model DH-16A1L; the motherboard is supposed to be an ASUS A8M2N-LA.
Where does the Audio cable plug into the DVD drive?  The only labeled positions are SATA Data and SATA Power.  And where does the Audio cable plug into the Motherboard?
    Thanks in advance...

You don't need a cable from the drive to motherboard. If you are having a problem with audio playing on dvds it is most likely a codec missing.

  • Why is audio missing from movie

why is audio missing from movie

I think I may have confused you a little bit, sorry.  Hope this might be easier to follow.
    1.  Copied nieces VHS tape to DVD discs.  Tape runs approximately 2hr. 39min.
    2.  Put first part on work copy 1.  This consisted of the lead up to the ceremony and the ceremony itself, ending with still shots of the wedding party, in the park.  About 1hr. 1min.
    3.  Put second part on work copy 2.  This consisted of the wedding reception, beginning to end.  About 1hr 38min.  No possibility of overlapping content.
    4.  Ran both work copy 1 and work copy 2 on the VCR that's hooked up to the TV.  (Not the Toshiba copy machine).  Both ran through, beginning to end with no glitches.
    5.  Opened Adobe Premiere Elements and loaded work copy #1 so as to make three finished copies, one for bride and groom, one for bride's parents, one for groom's parents.
    6.  When placed on the timeline, contents of work copy 1 had no audio for VTS_01_1.VOB while VTS_01_2.VOB and VTS_01_3.VOB were whole.
    7.  Tried for several days to eliminate the problem with no success.  A.P.E. showed file sizes of .99GB, .99GB and 47MB respectively.  The 47MB is actually about 2 minutes of still pictures of       the wedding party.  I was not going to attempt to burn the project until correcting the audio problem.
    8.  Wrote in to the community forum and happily received your response.  Tried every thing you offered without success.  Though I am thankful for all your time and effort.  While nothing worked       so far, I have learned a few things and will retain my notes so as to keep this information at hand.  (Don't know how you're able to maintain all that info).
    9.  At this point, in view of the results of step #4, I thought to try Windows DVD Maker to see what developed.  Loaded work copy 1 into that program, which recognized the audio in the first clip       (VTS_01_1.VOB).  I did not run the work copy, beginning to end, in this program.  But I felt that as long as the audio was present in the first clip, this program would allow me to burn the           copy.  When the burn button was pushed, I received the error message "Will Not Fit", and the duration of 30 min for clip 1, 30 min. for clip 2 and 25 hours and 30 min. for clip 3.  Clip 3 being       the 2 minutes of still pictures.  After trying unsuccessfully to remedy this problem it was time to try a different approach.
    10.  Opened A.P.E. and loaded work copy 2 onto the timeline.  Successfully made three finished copies of this disk in a short period of time.
    11.  Took the VHS tape back to the Toshiba to make another copy (work copy 1A) of the first segment.
    12.  Played copy 1A in the TVs VCR and it played fine, no glitches.
    13.  Opened A.P.E. and put work copy 1A on the Timeline.  This time there was audio in clip 1, which could be seen on the audio line, but it was the audio from work copy 2.  This, even though       I had deleted the files from work copy 2.
    14.  Accepted the fact that this has become a career.  Can't imagine what you're thinking.  Since beginning this endeavor I have become much older and grouchier.  My dog will no longer walk         with me.  Neighbors go back in the house when they see me coming.  Oh, and my wife sticks out her tongue and makes funny noises whenever I turn my back.

  • MacBook will not play burnt DVDs?

Hi, not sure if anyone posted this topic already so sorry in advance, but i wanted to know why won't my macbook play burnt DVDs. The DVDs worked fine on my dvd player, my other PC etc. When i load the burnt DVD into my macbook it wouldnt recognize the disk and when i open the dvd platey and hit play it would say something like please enter a readable disk. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.
Black MacBook 2.0GHZ 1GB RAM 80GB HD; 5TH GEN Black iPod Video   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I have the same problem with my MacBook 2.0 GHz.
The DVDs in question are DVD-RWs burnt with Pioneer DVR-520H, they work fine on my iMac G4 (DVD-Player & VLC) but when I insert the DVD in my MacBook the DVD-Player doesn't recognize the "media type" and VLC player gives me an error log like this :
vcd: search for kIOCDMediaClass came up empty
vcd: failed to get the TOC
    vcd: no movie tracks found
access_file: file /dev/rdisk1 is empty, aborting
cdda: search for kIOCDMediaClass came up empty
cdda: failed to get the TOC
    cdda: no audio tracks found
main: no suitable access module for `dvdnav:///dev/rdisk1'
macosx: Error: Unable to open 'dvdnav:///dev/rdisk1'
The interesting thing is that the DVD shows fine on my MacBook's desktop, I can open it and when I copy the VIDEO_TS -folder on my hard disk I can play it with no problems with either DVD-player or VLC.
So my MacBook can read the disc, it just can't play it - what could be causing this problem?
I have been suggested trying DVD-Rs instead of DVD-RWs, but I don't think this solves the problem, I wanna be able to play RWs too if they work fine on my iMac G4.
The DVDs have also been tested on PowerBook G4 (works fine) and Intel iMac (the same problem as with my MacBook = doesn't work). The DVDs aren't copied, they have material recorded from TV using the Pioneer DVR-520H (the same machine used for burning the DVDs) on them.
I'm able to play normal, rented or bought DVDs on my MacBook. Both machines are running the latest Tiger OS.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Audio missing from saved project

    Hi All...
New user here, first-time "test movie" combines video with ambient audio, stills and a music track. Based on Mr. Hunt's article, here's the background information:

Video clips: MPEG movies, image size 1440 x 1080, pixel depth: 32, frame rate 29.97. Average data rate 630-650 KB/second (there are a couple dozen clips, I didn't check them all...)
Source audio format: 48,000 Hz Compresses stereo; project audio format 48,000 Hz 32-bit floating point stereo
Music track: MP3 source audio format: 44,100Hz compressed stereo; project audio format 44,100 Hz 32-bit floating point stereo; average data rate 23KB/sec

Other app's typically running: IE and/or Firefox, perhaps MS word and/or Publisher, Mozilla's Thunderbird. However, I've "saved" this project with *no other apps* running, and there's still no audio.
Hope all this suggests a solution...
    Thanks for your help, all...
    T

Thanks for all this information, T.
So why are you editing a 1440x1080 video in a 1920x1080 project? If this is AVCHD footage, it's very important to use the right project settings.
That has no effect on your audio, of course. But it could affect your video quality when you output your file.
That say, can you explain what you mean by "Audio missing from save project"?
Do you mean that you don't hear the audio in Premiere Elements -- or that you don't hear it when you output, say, an MOV or WMV file?
What file format are you exporting and what are you playing soundless this file on?
And, finally, is there no audio whatsoever, or is only some audio (music, for instance) missing from your output?

  • Dvd player does not read burnt dvds

i burnt 2 dvds on my macbook pro (leopard). they both play fine on my macbook pro and my toshiba dvd player.
they will not play on my macbook and powermac g4 (tiger).
is this a problem with the dvd player in tiger? if so, any way to update it or download a newer version?

oh sorry i forgot to add that i managed to play some of the contents directly from my storage disk:
    1. open dvd player
    2. select play media
    3. instead of clicking on the FOLDER, like i wld do if i access the video from my macbook pro (leopard), i have to open the folder and click on VIDEO TS inside the folder
it will play this way. but i wonder if some features are lost? and why can't i play directly fr the burnt dvd like i can do on my macbook pro and toshiba dvd player?
sorry this is longwinded... i am rather frustrated here... thx for the help!

I think that you have multiple sound devices and their boot order changes after each reboot.

After using video capture device to copy VHS to DVD, burnt DVD will play on computer but not on DVD player. Tech support for the VCD said my HP DVD burning software has to burn "DVD Video and not DVD data" and to check with HP. How can i check myself.

    Grahamster, welcome to the forum.
I recommend trying CDBurnerXP for burning video CD's.  I have been using it for years without a glitch.  I use it mainly for burning ISO's, but have used it for all types.  Please let us know if it works or not.

  • Recording just audio from a video DVD

I thought I was ordering a CD with the music of a Broadway show. It turns out to have been a DVD of the entire production.
How do I get just the audio from the DVD into iTunes? And while I'm at it, once I get the audio, I'll need to strip the dialogue, and I haven't got any idea how to do that, either!
    Hope someone can help!
    Jimper

    Jimper
You can use Audio Hijack to record the audio from the Apple DVD player, which can be sent directly to iTunes as an ACC or AIFF file.
    http://www.rogueamoeba.com/audiohijack/
Stripping the "dialog" (assuming dialog is spoken commentary during the performance??) will be much more difficult. There are techniques to use a an audio editing program such as Audacity
    http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
to invert a one side of a stereo track to remove vocals for Karaoke, but the sound quality will be greatly diminished, the bass and even the vocals may be removed.
So if there is "dialog" on all of the songs it may be cheaper to buy the CD.
    Hope this helps.

  • Audio missing when shared to QT

    Hi,
I've shared a 52minute movie original in iM6HD to QuickTime and on two occasions the audio is completely missing in the resulting .mov (and also a .wmv version I made).
This is a pain as it takes hours to save to QT.
Where am I going wrong, guys?
    TT

Your audio settings may have been changed.
    1. Open Audio MIDI Setup (/Applications/Utilities/), then check the Audio Output setting.
    2. Change the Audio Output setting to 44100.0 Hz.
    3. Quit Audio MIDI Setup.

Alternatively, if the audio was from copy-protected tracks from iTunes, they won't copy over. If that is the case post back for a workaround.
