Audio mixer - suddenly volumes are not adjusted

Hi. PE4. I used the audio mixer in a few project without hassles. In this specific project, I edited the volume levels using the audio mixer successfully. Now I want to make changes to the audio volume but suddenly the audio mixer does not update the audio volume at all. What can I do to get this sorted? Thanks.

Bear with me on this, as I use P-Pro most of the time, so what I am about to type might not apply to PE.
On the Audio Track, one needs to set the view to display Track Keyframes. From the Audio Mixer, when hitting the Spacebar (Play) and adjusting the Pot for that Track's Audio, Keyframes are added. In Pro's Audio Mixer, these Keyframes (Track Keyframes, not Clip Keyframes) are only added, when I change the Send to Touch or Write. PE's Audio Mixer does not seem to have Sends. It also appears that the Audio Mixer needs to stay open, though you can make it small and tuck it away. My test of it indicated that when you Close it, the Keyframes disappear. (Can someone correct me here?) I would *guess* that if one did a Save, or Save_As at this point, the Audio Track Keyframes would be Saved. This last step is not necessary for me in Pro, as the Audio Mixer is always open and is just tabbed to another Panel, so it's never in my way. I will experiment with Pro and see what happens if I close the Audio Mixer. It might work the same as in PE, but I have not tried that, since I never close mine.
One additional note: in Pro, you can set the Keyframe interval for Track Keyframes. I'd guess that you can in PE too - probably from the Preferences Menu. Potting with the Audio Mixer can generate a lot of Keyframes, depending on the interval set. These can be moved around, just like Clip Keyframes, but you'll want to zoom in on that Track to see what you're doing - both horizontal and vertical zoom.

Hi all.
Now everything is in order.
I had an upgrade of Aperture. It deleted a main folder called "All photos". Luckily I had saved the library to an extra hard drive. Imported the back and everything in order.
Was too much interested in looking at the World Championships in snooker. Sorry.

Timeline indicates an effect is operating when Audio Mixer says it is not

I'm learning about the Audio Mixer panel and effects. I set up a Bass effect in the Effects and Sends panel as a test. On page 341 of the Premiere PDF it states:
To bypass a track effect, click the Effects Bypass button near the bottom of the effects list until it appears with a slash.
I tried turning off the Bass as described, and it worked. I then went to the Timeline to hear if the effect had been turned off, and it was. However, at the top left of the audio timeline there is a box saying Effect 1: Bass, and two items appear as a sub menu: Bypass and Boost. So I chose Boost and the little box now said: Effect 1: Bass: Boost. But the bass wasn't being boosted.
It appears that you can turn off an effect in the Audio Mixer, but the Timeline still indicates the effect is operating.
Am I missing something, or is this a flaw?

The little box in the Timeline appears to indicate Bass is operating when it is not. If Bass if turned off in the Audio Mixer, I would have thought the Bass option in the Timeline should not be there. It is not operational, yet it is clearly there. Doesn't look right to me.
But, when you try to adjust the Bass level (by moving the yellow line) a little note pops up: "Bass off". So all is well and good.

Suddenly fonts are not printed

Suddenly writings and sometimes graphics are not printed when I write a postscript file from InDesign and change it with the PDF distiller . There was an update for indesign at the cloud. But can it be that? I always get the expression from the printer: error: invalidfont Offending Command: show stack: () or Error: typecheck Offending Command: rmoveto stack: null null
I'm totally desperate. So far, everything has always worked out well and I do not use any other font :-(

If they are anywhere on your system, delete the fonts Times Phonetic and Helvetica Fractions. Then clear out the font cache files with Font Finagler.

Online audio and video files are not working

i got a plugin for shockwave flash(adobe flash player) i thought it is the latest version so i downloaded it and installed it. Before installing the new flash player i was able hear song online and can watch videos but now both audio and videos are not working.

thanx for your advise but i got to hav one more problem and that is...i have downloaded the new version setup of firefox but after extracting it stops working and the installation process ends automatically...so please help.

H.264 export without audio creates files that are not recognized in Quicktime or VLC

Dear all,
I need to generate h.264 files with video only. (short clips for use with a "clickable" catalog on an iPad)
Used the "H.264" category and chose a preset. Unchecked "Audio" so I only get the video exported.
The resulting .m4v file is not playable in Quicktime or VLC or MPEG streamclip.
When I leave audio enabled with the same preset, the file is fine, but as soon as I export without audio, the resulting file is unreadable.
Source material is ProRes 422HQ, audio+video, about 30-40 seconds long.
Any clues?

I'm sorry, probably my question wasn't very clear. Of course I can find some technical info about the iPad...
And of course some of the presets in Media Encoder provide basic starting points for encoding.
But... there is also the first iPad, I couldn't find the specs about it on the Apple site. On everymac.com I found:
Apple reports that the iPad supports "H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats."
So if I want to be compatible with all iPads I need to probably stay under 720p30 with [email protected] for H.264

I find (from the example values) that 1280x720@30p is quite near the maximum matrix size. So with 1024x576 I should be ok there. My bandwith of about 2Mbit is also well within range in this case. But what if I want to fill an iPod screen (1024x768) with the highest possible quality video? How do I calculate if this fits the max frame size requirements, where this is expressed in a number of luma samples and macroblocks? What is my max bandwith? The tables says that the "Max video bit rate for video coding layer (VCL) kbit/s" should be <14.000kbps. Does that directly translate to the sliders in my encoding app?
If you look in the table "AVC software implementations" (under Software encoder feature comparison) you can see that some features that are supported in MainConcept, and not supported in Qt. (8×8 vs. 4×4 transform adaptivity, Quantization scaling matrices, Separate Cb and Cr QP control, etc. What are these exactly?)
In Streamclip one can choose to have B-frames or not, in AME there is no such control. Does that mean it always encodes with B-frames? Why would one not want to have B-frames?
A lot of parameters in AME H.264 encoding seem to be set to certain fixed values that are not accessible to the user. Other programs (Sorensen, Telestream) provide the user with access to more parameters. Which parameters in AME are set to what (fixed, non-accessible) values and why?
As I said earlier, Quicktime reports different codecs for what should be the same format but from different encoders. Why? Is there a program that can analyze a H.264 stream and report about it in more detail than VLC/Quicktime?

If anyone could recommend an online resouce or a book to learn more about the ins and outs of H.264 encoding/decoding that would be great. I have the first edition of Charles Poynton's (brilliant!) book "Digital Video and HDTV", which does talk about MPEG-2 but not H.264. I saw that the second edition goes a bit more into detail about H.264. Does anyone have the second edition? Worth buying just for the relatively small addition about H.264?

All of sudden, images are not loading completely

It makes no diff if I upload it directly or as a dependent file, all images are only uploading about 20%, then there is a big grey area. I have DW5.5. The pages upload, but the images are not. To repair your AVG please follow these instructions:
Go to Start -> Control Panel.
Note: Click Settings first if Control Panel is not available in the Start menu.
Open (Programs) -> Programs and Features, or Add or Remove Programs.
Select AVG in the list of programs.
Click the Change or Change/Remove button.
Select Repair.
Follow the instructions on your screen to complete the installation.
Restart your computer.

IMovie09 Audio Adjustments. Volume reduction not working.

I have adjusted the volume in all clips in the project to 0%. I put a music track over all video clips. When I playback in the viewer all Audio is fine. When I save as .mov file, the background audio from the clips is there. I have made hundreds of videos and this has never happened before. Is it some sort of bug?

Are you using any speed changes? (fast or slow motion?)
If so, iMovie 09 has a bug that will produce unpredictable audio effects.
The solution is to keep your speed changes to the pre-set tick marks, e.g. 25%, 50%, 100%, 200%, 400%, 800%, etc. If you use a custome percent like 58% or 139%, you will get the unpredictable audio.

Windows volume does not adjust with headset

Hi,
I have a Gioteck EX-06 Wireless headset. For a while this headset worked fine with no problems. Recently I am having an issue that occurs when adjusting the volume.
E.G. When I open the volume mixer and lower the slider for my '2.4G Wireless headset' it also lowers the slider the other applications such as System Sounds, Skype and Firefox. Now here is where the problem occurs. Although I lower the sound and it
says it lowering it for everything else, in actual fact nothing is being reduced, Skype is still at the volume it was before and the same thing with system sounds and Firefox. For me to lower the sounds I need to click and drag the slider
for each of the applications separately which is a very irritating task to repeat while attempting to play a game. This means the volume keys on my keyboard and mouse do nothing, it shows the windows 8 volume thing in the top left, but no audio
is being reduced.
Please help, as this is becoming very annoying and has now sucked up a lot of time in order to look for a fix.

Generally speaking, this should be sound card driver problem, have you tried to reinstall its driver for test?
In addition, please check Event Viewer if it identify this problem.

Serious keynote notes bug - notes font colour and size are not adjustable on master slides

I would like as many people as possible who are frustrated with this issue to comment on this post. Perhaps together we can demand an update that addresses this serious problem with Keynote.
The problem: You are unable to change the font type, colour or size of presenter notes. You can do it if you go into each individual slide, or if you hack into the program and edit the code, but you can't as a user change all the notes at once. This is ridiculous. Everyone should avoid Keynote and buy PowerPoint until this is fixed.
When you go to slide master and try to adjust the font size, colour and type in Keynote it is greyed out. This is the grey of bad programming.
This is a complete joke. It needs to be fixed and it needs to be addressed in the next Keynote update. How was this version released without this being detected?
When are you going to fix it Apple iWork developers? The software is unusable for most of us until you do.

First of all, I am not frustrated with this as I don't use presenter notes. Second, this forum is for users, not Apple developers. Have you provided feedback to Apple through their website? You will get a lot further doing that then complaining to other users here.

How to quit MLB at bat audio or apps that are not showing by the lock area

I upgraded MLB at bat so that the audio plays in the background while im multitasking.
Its great how ever I don't understand how to quit the app.
When I double click the home button and swipe to the control area where the orientation lock is it does not show mlb at bat running. It shows only the ipod icon. I thought it was suppose to show the mlb at app like it shows the pandora when pandora is streaming music in the background
Its the same concept of allowing audio to stream ...what gives?
I guess I can hold down the mlb at bat app when first opening my apps that are in the background hold down so it wiggles and then delete it.
But this is very confusing.

If you double click the home button after starting audio (in MLB)...before you single click the home button to quit...and then swipe to the left, you get the iPod icon. But, if you start audio in MLB, then press the Home button to quit the app and go back to the home screen (while still streaming audio in the background), and THEN double click and swipe to the left, you'll get the MLB icon and MLB audio controls.
By the way, MLB At Bat audio in the background while checking your mail or surfing the web is pretty awesome.

Iphone 4S; Phone & audio piece; Incoming calls are NOT routed automatically??

When I dial out; no problem the calls automatically goes through ear pice.
When I get incomming calls the call goes to phone, not even to the speaker in in the phone. So I have to
1.Slide the bar (then first realizing (again) dam: I hear nothing)
2. Choose the box for speaker options
3. Choose my blue ant piece..
By then some callers think I am not picking up or there is somthing wrong..!
My 3 colleaguers have same phone and no such problems. We are at a loss and I could not find reply in community groups. There was note about Iphone 5 and not correcting to Car speaker automatically. This was noted as a softwre issue Apple might address in next version. But since my colleagues do not have problem with their Iphone it must be either my settings or a weird fault with my phone.
One of my collegues have same ear pice as me, so the issueis not that either.
Is there some weird setting I need to fix to correct the problem?

Are you able to make calls? I would try a couple different things -
1. Try doing a double hard reset - Press and hold home button and the sleep wake button at the same time until the screen displays the slide to shut down red button. Continue pressing and holding both the buttons until the screen goes black and then the apple logo flashes up. Continue pressing and holding both the home and sleep wake button beyond this point until the screen goes black again. At this point, let go of the home button and press once the sleep wake button as you would to start your phone. See if this double hard reset helps clear out any cache.
2. If this fails, I would try restoring the phone as a new phone in iTunes. Backup your phone before this so that you dont lose your contacts, etc. You can do a couple test calls once the firmware is installed before setting up the phone, data, apps, etc. If it looks good, try restoring your phone from an earlier backup.
If everything fails, call AppleCare or see a Genius in the store.

Updated to Mountain Lion and now my M-Audio ProjectMix or Mbox are not being recognized?

I do music production and my M-audio ProjectMix is a Firewire audio interface and Mbox Mini 2 don't work anymore? They're not even recognized within System Preferences.

Check the manfacturers website for updated software.
