Audio / MP3 / WAV

Love captivate-user, I have a problem with the audio. If I of binding an audio file in MP3 format to an object on a slide captivate turns this MP3 file to a WAV file. This file is of course larger. In the library, both files will be displayed. However, it is shown that the MP3 file is not included and can be deleted. Does anyone have an idea how I can embed the smaller MP3 file in the object? Thanks for your help. Ibo

Captivate's default process is to try and maintain the audio file internally in a high quality format to prevent it from degrading.  When Captivate publishes out it will do so as an MP3 using whatever export quality settings you have configured.  But if you were to start with a low quality compressed MP3 and then publish that you would often find the output quality to be sub optimal. Converting the imported MP3 into a WAV is Captivate's way of attempting to avoid this issue.  It's not going to bloat your output file by publishing two different audio files, so my advice is just to run with it.  Bring your audio files in as WAV to begin with if you want.

  • Converting analog audio to MP3/WAV using Garageband

I'd like to use Garageband to convert analog audio (reel-to-reel, cassette, LP) to MP3/Wav formats. What kind of audio capture device do I need for the iMac in order to do this and where are they available?
I have a new iMac running Snow Leopard (MAC OS X 10.6.3); been using PCs for decades, but new to the Mac.
    Thanks.

do you know if it matters whether I'm coming directly out of a deck/turntable, or do I need to go through an amplifier first before going into the audio-in port?
for a cassette or open reel, the line-OUT is fine, for a turntable you need the RIAA curve of a dedicated Phono input.

  • Converting .m4p files to .mp3/.wav/.wma

Any suggestions to help convert an iTunes file to mp3, wav or wma would be greatly appreciated. Another application I am using requires one of these three files and cannot recognize the origial .m4p file. Thanks in advance.
    HP Laptop   Windows XP

The .m4p file extension is Apple's "protected" (DRM) format. The letter p stands for protected.
Burn these files to audio CD format (allowed by the terms of use) and then covert this new .aiff file.

  • CONVERT from iTunes to other FORMATS (AAC, AIFF, MP3, WAV)

Came across a problem in trying to get music purchased from iTunes to be recognized by other media players (Quicktime or Final Cut Express). I found how to get iTunes to export to cd/dvd disks in AIFF format (and other formats).
    Steps used:
    From iTunes:
Create a new playlist folder in iTunes (under file)
Drop the songs you wished to use into the playlist folder
Go to the iTunes main menu,
    select 'Preferences'
    select 'Advanced'
    select 'Import'
using "Import Using" select the format (AAC, AIFF, MP3, WAV) you desire
Input your CD/DVD disk to burn
highlight your Playlist file in iTunes that you want to convert
    select 'File' in iTunes,
    select "Burn Playlist to disc"
What you end up with is a CD/DVD with the music files in the format you selected -(I needed AIFF) from there you can use the disk or copy your converted files back into Final Cut or other software for use.
Hope this helps others having similar issues

Have you tried other formats, besides AIFF?
You can only burn purchased music to an
    b Audio CD
and the Finder will tell you the files are AIFF. Actually the files on an Audio CD are PCM, but Mac OS 'sees' them as AIFF.
You can't convert purchased music in other formats, because it's protected.

  • FMS Audio (MP3) Glitches - Hosting Issue or Not

I've got several webinars that an associate of mine helped me
build several years ago in Flash MX 2004. They are about 40 minutes
long, but have been broken into about 8 chapters (seperate .swf
files). The .swf files connect to audio (mp3) streams running off
of an external hosted FMS server via RTMP. We are using the older
MediaDisplay and MediaPlayback components from MX 2004 to play the
audio while the screens within Flash are setup with cuepoints to
    sync to the audio.
This has worked for years, except the problem is that the
chapters do not always seem to make the connection to the external
FMS audio. Sometimes simply pressing the pause button on and off
will get it to play. Other times you have to refresh the screen. I
can't figure out if this is a hosting issue or not. We have tried a
few different FMS hosts at this point at about the $100/month
plans, but keep having the same problems.
What can we do to eliminate (or diminish) these connection
problems? We really don't want to redevelop these at this point in
time, so if there is anything we can do to modify what we have or
our hosting, that would be helpful.
    thanks,
    route3w

It sounds like the swf doesn't handle onSync correctly. I
would suggest logging the connection event, stream events, etc to
gain more insight into the problem (both client side logging and
    server side).

  • Why won't Colorfly C3 MP3/WAV player appear on my OSX 10.9.5 desktop?

Hello. I've just bought a Colorfly C3 MP3/WAV player. It won't appear on my OSX 10.9.5 (Maverick) desktop - but will appear on the desktop of an older computer running Snow Leopard. As all my music is in iTunes on my Maverick OS - I need it to work on Maverick. I've tried Restart, swopping to a different USB port, turning the Colorfly C3 off & on and the battery is fully charged. Any suggestions/experience/help please? Thank you.

    Hello Eric.
Thank you for your Reply. I found out the problem was with the USB cable supplied. I swopped it for a different one and the Colorfly C3 icon appeared on the desktop.

  • Elements 11 won't play audio mp3 from within slide show

I've created a slide show and have attempted to insert  an audio mp3 file. Audio file shows that it has been added to slide show but it wil not play.
I've added the mp3 multiple ways, by using the add media -- audio from element organizer as well as by  add media ---audio from file but it won't play
MP3 plays fine when I click on it from the organizer.
I've tested the mp3's  that came with elements 11 and they play fine. What's the deal?

Is it from within the iTunes library? Try deleting album art and then adding the track again.

  • Help me with CD-AUDIO/Mp3

Hi to all people from Italy... I have a big problem to play in Hi-Fi mode all CD-Audio/Mp3
CDs, because pushing the open button on my MEGA PC 865 Deluxe the tray dont open!
I have the DVD-RW PIONEER 107D. Only using the PC mode it work...
    Somebody can Help Me please...?
    Thanks
    Righella from Venice Italy

I have a Mega 180 but have had similar problems. For me sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. I've found 2 things that help get the CD/DVD tray to open in Hi Fi mode.
The eject button on the remote has a much higher probability of working. Try that first. If even that doesn't work I have to pull the power plug for 15 seconds and then plug it back in. For some reason my Mega 180 loses contact with the front panel after a couple of days. I lose the card readers and the buttons on the front in HiFi mode. I have no idea why this happens. To restore it simply pull the power plug, wait, and plug it back in. For me this fixes all the front panel stuff... but within a couple of days it is "broke" again.

  • Mp3 wav midi conversion

    Hi,
I am trying to write a program that will convert mp3 or wav file to midi. I know that the result will be approximate but I think it will be a good experience since i am quite new in java. From the information I have gathered so far I know that I need to perform a fft algorithm on the mp3/wav file in order to get the midi one. Can anyone give me a helping hand on how can i do that? or give me like a rough idea of the steps have I have to follow in order to achieve that.
    Thanks

softwares like intelliscore does the conversion from
wav to midi. Does anyone know the procedure it uses?
    ThanksFrom intelliscore website:
If you wanted polyphonic WAVE, MP3, or CD files to be converted to MIDI, you simply had no alternative but to succumb to the often tedious and time-consuming task of picking out the notes yourself, time that could be better spent on more creative endeavors.
Finally, the result of a spark of a dream and six years of research, Innovative Music Systems, Inc. is offering its patented technology for polyphonic WAVE to MIDI and MP3 to MIDI conversion to musicians like you.
They've had some time to develop it. And I don't think they did it in Java.
There is no specific magic thing, or set of rules to perform, to make such a conversion.
    But good luck anyway.

I WANT TO BURN ITUNES DOWNLOADS TO AUDIO CD (,WAV)....
    HOW DO I DO THIS?
    PLEASE HELP

Your only options to burn store purchases are an audio CD or data disc, WAV format is not an option, & never has been for store purchases. If you want to burn an audio CD, open iTunes, then edit>preferences>advanced>burning tab, in the burning tab set your option to an audio CD.

  • Exporting Audio - .mp3 and .wav files

    OS:                         Windows XP
    Captivate version:      3
When exporting audio files, both a .wav file and .mp3 file are exported for each audio instance listed in the Library.
Why are there two different versions of the same audio?
    Does Captivate utilize both?
    I appreciate your help.
    PJL

    Hi Mukul
Thanks for that answer! Can we take it one step further and clarify something please?
Imagine that one has a MP3 file they successfully import into Captivate. It gets converted to WAV upon import. If the user does not modify it in any way during the edit process, is the same MP3 used when publishing? Or is it modified in any way going back out?
