Audio--narration

How do I get "Create, Slide show, Audio" to work--My Computer is set up properly and mic is good as I can record narration on other programs?   But not under Organizer, Create, Slide show.  The volume slide just sits there?  Ranger Steve

Grand plan or major dud. All with just Premiere Elements 11 and your 172 photos at 4000 x 2248 resized to 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720 (for this example).
Start out with two folders on the desktop....one with the 172 photos (4000 x 2248) and the other empty.
Open Premiere Elements 11 workspace. Click on Organizer Tab at the bottom of the workspace in order to open the Elements Organizer.
Import all 172 photos 4000 x 2248 pixels 16:9 into the Organizer (Files Menu/Get Photos and Videos/From Files and Folders, navigating to the desktop folder with the photos to resized).
Create an Album which will have  172 photos (4000 x 2248) in it in the wanted order.
Highlight all the photos in the Album. Then File Menu/Export to New Files(s) and set up as indicated in the following screenshot.
To get to the Custom Setting, go to Size and Quality section, Photo Size, and click on the arrow to show the drop down list of choices which includes Custom. In that Custom Size dialog, set for a pixel dimensions which is 16:9...could be 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720 or less but whatever having a 16:9 aspect ratio. Be sure to set location for the created and saved files to that empty desktop folder.
Focus: DVD-VIDEO Widescreen (our assumed target) will have a frame size of 720 x 480 (NTSC) or 720 x 576 (PAL) no matter how large those imported photos are. The widescreen will include a 16:9 flag to scretch for display after encoding. As I said, depending on your computer resources, photos oversized for the project will create project failures in various forms, editing and/or exporting.
Please review the above and let us know if any of that worked for you. If not, we will think about this some more.
Thanks.

  • Extract Audio Narration Track from Keynote with Voice Over

I just found a way to extract the audio narration track from a keynote I recorded using the voice over feature.
    I used BetterZip.
I right-clicked on my keynote to show the "Open With..." contextual menu. I had the keynote open with BetterZip instead of Keynote and it extracted all the elements of the presentation into a folder. I saw in there several audio tracks.
Now, Keynote did not split the audio tracks into individual slide snippets but that's better than any other technique I have read on this forum so far.
I hope this helps someone in the future.

If you save your Keynotes as a package, then you can right click and +Show Package Content+ and see all the files that make up your Keynote as well. To save your Keynotes as a package go to Preferences and click +Save new documents as packages.+

  • Captivate 8 - Mouse Click/Audio Narration Issue

I receorded my software simulation, then added recorded narration to each slide afterward. When I go to preview my course, each time the mouse click happens, the audio narration volume is decreased slighly before, during, and slightly after the mouse click. I wish I could say it was by a neglible amount, but on certain slides it nearly "covers" my narration completely. I can't seem to find anything in the Adobe Captivate forums about this specifically, which is surprising! So that leads me to believe there is a setting somewhere. Has anyone else encountered this?

    Hi there
The fact you don't see references to this in the forums is indicative of the fact that (at least for me) this is the first such report I've seen of this specific behavior. It could be that it's a bug. Following that, I'd strongly urge you to file a bug report on it using the link below:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/wish
The behavior you are describing is consistent with what I might expect of the Background Audio and Slide narration.
If you aren't using Background Audio, perhaps try clicking Audio > Import to > Background so you get the dialog. Then configure the dialog so you clear the option for reducing the volume.
Once you have done this and clicked Save, click Audio > Remove > Background and see if that fixes anything. If not...
Try clearing the preferences and publish again,
My crystal ball is on the fritz and my psychic skills are nearly non-existent, so I can't tell whether you are using the Mac or the PC version. But if it's the PC version, here is how you clear the preferences.
    Close Captivate
Right-click the Shortcut icon and choose Properties
From the Shortcut tab, click the Open File Location button
Windows Explorer should open - From there, locate the Utils folder
    Double-click the CleanPreferencesWin.bat file
    Restart Captivate and test
    Cheers... Rick

  • Anybody feel the need to be able to attach an audio narrative to pictures

I have submitted a feature request to Apple for allowing audio narrative in iPhoto. Just like one can attach places information to pictures, it would be great if we could attach an audio narrative to the picture. Many pictures and events can then be put in context, some stories behind the pictures can also be collected. It would be so much more fun and useful. What do people think?

There are apps that will do this already. For instance [MemoryMiner|http://www.memoryminer.com>

  • Slide show - audio Narration & Sound Track

IN PE7 is there a way to adjust the volume of the audio narration and the background sound track . If I add an audio narration to the slides and add a music Sound track to the show - The music steps on the narration and it can not be heard.

    Robert,
In the PSE 7 slide show editor you could decrease the volume of the music soundtrack for its entire duration - but that may make the volume of the music too low when there is no narration. You can also add multiple music files to a slide show, but creating separate pieces (files) from a music sound track would require additional software to edit the music files and then difficult precise placement of the pieces of music around the narration. In my opinion, neither is really a good answer.
What format do you plan to use for the Output command of your completed slide show?
Do you also have Premiere Elements 7? If no, do you have other video editing/creation software on your PC?

  • Audio (narration) in Capt. 6 truncates

Audio narration cuts off the last few words on the last slide when published. Is there a fix for this?

Copy some of the low volume audio from between pauses in the voiceover to the end of the audio clip to extend it out by a second or two.  Adding pure silence won't work because Captivate will truncate it. It has to be 'dirty silence' with at least a little bit of audio data still remaining.

  • Video with audio, narration and soundtrack has no narration after rendering

    Hi,
I edited a video and then I added a narration and a soundtrack.
In the editor I see and hear exactly what I want.
When I'm publishing the video though the narration is lost.
I've tried with both Premiere Elements 11 and 12 with the same results.
I've tried different output fortmats, but still no narration.
I've attached a picture of the editor. Note that I rendered only the workarea.
I can hear the soundtrack and the audio 1 at the beginning and the audio 1 at the end.
But I cannot hear the narration in any output format.
    Can you help me??
    Thank you  in advance,
    M

I noticed a peculier thing after I updated After Effects. I tried to render it again but using a different file type: AVI. It rendered, just fine, sound and all... but it was 4 GB. Then I tried rendering at as a Quicktime: Photo - JPEG, with the same result as the very first time I tried it: no sound. But then I played it in Quicktime, instead of WMP 11, and it plays just find, sound and all. So I'm wondering why it would not play sound on my computer or Youtube, if its just a problem with the player. Any ideas?

  • Audio narration mixed with animation effects

Does anyone know why the audio animation effects become faint
when mixed in Breeze with the narration audio? It is almost as if
it automatically layers the audio for the narration to take
    precedence.

It seems that you answered your own question. The narration
does take precedence. Presenter is intended to have one audio track
    playing.

  • Audio narration tracks overlay even after editing or removing

I am trying to remove a narration on a slide recorded as audio. I seem to do it (it's not in the window) and when I play the audio to check in the record window it sounds fine> BUT when I play it in browser both the most recent and at least one or two of the previous narration tracks play at the same time over the top of each other. How do I get just one audio track to take and appear in the final version?  And how do I save the one I did most recently so I don't have to do it all again?
    Thanks

Provide screenshots of your timeline with keyframes revealed, your render settings and your footage interpretation of the source file (s) in question. And please look up the big words in the AE help. Nothing personal and most of us "just want to get things done", but knowing a few basics and the right terminology in a complicated program like AE is inevitable. YouTube tutorials mostly leave out that part....

  • Trying to add audio narrative to a Slideshow via vocal track on Garageband-won't take. How can I do this for illiterate friend?

I have set up a Slideshow on iDVD with the intention of adding a narrative and burning a dvd, so a friend of mine who can neither read nor write will be able to watch the pictures while listening to the narrative.  I have produced a narrative by using the Male Vocal track on Garageband, but when I try to drop the result into the Audio box at the base of the Slideshow Edit Window, it won't take. I know that only certain types of audio will work, but I thought Garageband would do the job.
If I can't do it that way, how can I make a suitable narrative without putting it separately onto a cassette tape?
Using an iBook G4, running OSX 10.4.11– the latest system I can run.

Save the Garageband track as an aiff or mp3 file and use that.

  • Is there a way to record an audio narration over several slides in Captivate 8?

Perfect it seems so obvious now

  • Recording Audio Narration in FCP 6

Is there a way to record spoken word directly into FCP 6 for simple web based videos?
    Thanks.

By spoken word, I just meant narration.
I tried searching Help, however, when I enter "voice over" in the search text field, it
does not bring up any information. Instead it opens up the Tools menu and highlights the Voice Over tool.
I connected an EV mic using an adapter to go from XLR to the mic input on my Macbook Pro. I set an I and an O point on the Timeline and started recording. The
resulting track is VERY low in volume. Is there anything I can do to increase the volume besides adjusting the Gain or raising the volume in the Timeline, which could introduce noise?
Is this just the way it is if you do not use a mixer or some sort?
    Thanks.

  • Audio narrative throughout project

Is there a way to have one audio file play through the entire project and have different slides/states play over the audio file? I have a 3 minute audio file that I want to have animations play over but with different graphics and charts. Sort of like an animated slide show. I'm hoping to avoid having to split up the audio file into multiple pieces.

    Hi Chunga,
    Here's what I'd suggest
    1.  Import your audio clip as an MP3 or FLV file.
    2.  Create an action sequence. You can do this on load by selecting nothing and then clicking "Add interaction" in the interactions panel. Instead of "Play transition to state", choose "Play action sequence".
    3.  Create a sound effect during your action sequence. In the timeline panel, click "Add Action > Play Sound Effect". Then choose your sound effect.
    4.  Add other effects to the timeline as needed. You should probably make all your slides the states of a custom component, and then add "Set Component State" actions during your action sequence.

  • Wanting to develop iOS app on Azure for sharing recorded audio stories/narratives

I'm about to start developing an app for iPhone (and eventually Android) that should allow users to:
    -record audio narratives
-upload those audio narratives to azure
-browse and listen to the audio narratives that others users have uploaded
-I really want to be able to stream these narratives for playback instead of just downloading or doing a progressive download
I've been trying to use Azure and its media services to achieve this, but I really haven't found any good documentation for audio streaming, especially with iOS/objective-c.  There seems to be a lot on video streaming, but nothing on audio.
I'm not an inexperienced developer, but I have never messed with media streaming, and I am fairly new to iOS.  Any suggestions? Is Azure the right way to go? Do I really need to stream or would progressive download really be good
enough in my case? Would I be able to get far enough using the video streaming tutorials? (ie, is the code for streaming video and audio pretty much the same?) Are there any other third party services or APIs that would work well to accomplish
this in conjunction with Azure? Any other insights or links to documentation would be great.  The only real constraint is that we want to do this on iOS first (vs switching to Android or other platform, though eventually we do want to expand
    to other platforms).  Thank you!

Unfortunately, the burden is on the app developers to make their stuff fit with the iOS, not on Apple to accommodate them. Uninstalling and reinstalling is probably your only fix. And if their app isn't compatible with iOS7, then you may be needing to look for a new app.
I'd just go ahead and delete it and reinstall it. Chances are that file either isn't there or is corrupt and won't work anyway.

  • Narration audio is not importing with PPTX

Using PPT 2013 and Cap 7.0.1.237, importing a PPTX is not importing the audio narration. I've tested with and without High Fidelity and Slide Duration checked. Is this still a known issue? What else can I check? Thanks.

Does the video clip have any audio when it is opened into the viewer from the browser? What are the exact item properties of the video clip you're talking about?
