Audio No Video, Black Screen

Hey, I have some videos on my Ipod that I converted with Videora..
My Ipod plays the audio, but no video, the screen is black, and I DID check the tv out in the video settings.
I've read other posts like this, and nothing said there helps.
If anyone has any answers or suggestions please write back

I was having problems when I opened previous emails with WMV attached. No attachment was in the email body, except an audio file, no video. These emails were all fine until I upgraded to 7.5.5 two days ago. They would also transfer /open fine on my other Macs that weren't upgraded, when forwarded.
After much conversation with Apple, I did an OS re-install (not clean install) with archives and the problems are no longer there. ie NO 7.5.5 now and NO ISSUES!
Cheers

  • IMORTED AUDIO/VIDEO FILE ONLY PLAYS THE AUDIO WITH A BLACK SCREEN

I'm trying to put a DVD together of my friends' concert, but every time I export from AVID to a QT file, import it, transcode it, and put it in a timeline, it only plays audio and a black screen.
I went back into AVID and made sure that I exported both audio and video...I did. Then I checked the QT file, and it plays the audio and video.
I exported the files as uncompressed. Should I use a compressor?
    PLEASE HELP!!!
    Thanks.

  • Ipod won't play video/podcasts or audio only a black screen with the play symbol and volume/progress bar. games work fine! any ideas?

Ipod video classic 5th gen won't play video/podcasts or audio only a black screen with the play symbol and volume/progress bar. games work fine! any ideas?

    Here's some more info.
I tried installing the latest iTunes to my housemate's PC, logging into iTMS with my account, authorizing his machine to play my content, restoring my iPod to the factory settings, downloading the videos and copying them to my iPod.
It worked fine, and I can play my videos.
I have done the exact SAME thing on my own home PC twice, after completely uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and the Apple Software Updater. But I still can't get any videos downloaded on my home PC to play on my iPods.
    Any thoughts?

  • Can hear audio, but video blacks out every few seconds; picture comes back when we hit the tv's volume button

We can hear audio, but video blacks out every few seconds; picture comes back when we hit the tv's volume button. Everything seems to be plugged in well. The picture even starts out being sort of dim. And it goes through phases of working fine but then will randomly start blacking out again.  Any ideas?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Have you tried turning the TV off and on again.

  • Flash player is playing audio but no video (black screen)

I have a tablet running Android 4.04. I installed the latest flash player 11.3 from the google play store. It works fine when playing videos from the http://nieuws.vtm.be site with in the default (google) browser delivered with Android. When playing these flash-videos within the firefox beta version, only the audio works. The screen remains black.
I tried several videos and had always the same result.

In the Android Firefox Beta App I don't see any button from which I can get into the options tab. I only find a settings tab at the top right side, but this one does not show any options for enabling/disabling graphics acceleration. As extra information, the tablet I`m working on, is based on an Allwinner A10 (ARM8 1.2 Ghz + 400 Mhz Mali GPU) microprocessor.

  • Multitude of problems (no airport, no audio in/out, black screen)

I picked up a MBP 2.0Ghz recently knowing it had issues with the airport and audio. At the time, I was OK knowing that only the wired connection worked, but recently I've had problems with it not restarting properly. It restarts most of the time to a black screen. I'm assuming it is actually running properly be/c all the lights on the keyboard work, and the keyboard backlighting comes on.
My other problems are that the System Profiler doesn't find the airport card or built in audio. Pressing the volume keys just show a circle with the line through it. I have tested the Airport card in another laptop, and I can confirm it does work.
I just tested everything with a complete erase and install of 10.5.4, and things are just the same.
I've reset the usual ... PRAM, SMC. I've installed RAM from another MBP, and that didn't make a difference.
I noticed on Ebay that I can buy a used IO Board. Considering that the IO Board contains the audio jacks and the PCI-E slot, might this be my fix? OR, is my logicboard the underlying root of all my problems. I will add that I can hear a high pitched sound.

    Hi Zac,
    This bit ....
    Chat ended with error -8
    Video Conference Error Report:
    Video Conference Support Report:
    Video Conference User Report:
    Binary Images Description for "iChat":
    Is the important bit.
It implies your end can not contact the third party server that is involved.
    It goes like this.
iChat sends the Visible invite on port 5678 on the UDP protocol
Your iChat then moves to port 5060 and tries to contact the SNATMAP server run by Apple to "negotiate" the ports to use for the A/V chat.
Now as you have no details your have not contacted this server or rather you have not got a reply back to confirm the ports your iChat wants to use.
Now if your Mac firewall and router if you use one limit this to just the base SIP port (5060) it might pay to open 5060-5063 for all the SIP ports but this is not always required for outgoing calls.
The other problem with these ports is that they are an International Standard for all VoIP apps and devices.
Some Adapters think that all SIP data is for a phone and stop it going to a computer.
Some ISPs now offer VoIP services and charge extra for it as a way of getting revenue back for long range calls by blocking the ports.
So Do you have a VoIP adapter ?
Has the college starting using an IP/VoIP phone service ?
Or have they just blocked the ports ?
If AIM on PC users can video chat then look into Discrimination by default or lack of knowlege.
Also consider that there may not be enough Bandwidth now that everyone is at college and trying to call home.

  • Video black screen on iPad simple solution

I clicked on my video to play and suddenly had a black screen. I searched forums and did the reset as instructed and the search for your videos and all that stuff but the same problem occurred over and over again. After the third time, I figured it's a program issue since everything else was working. I downloaded a video player for free.  Not only did I solve my problem, now I can put videos in my iPad without converting them since it can play several formats.  I posted this so other people experiencing or about to experience the same problem won't go to the hassle that I went through. Plus when you add videos on your IPad,  you don't have to waste your time converting them. I got flex player but I think there are other programs that play different formats, too.

Yeah. The ipad only can play certain formats. Usually just the most popular used. You would have to convert them if they are a different format to play under VIDEOS. The formats are in the TECH SPECS when you select the ipad on the support page. Or you can download an app(like what you did) easier way.

  • [vlc] random video black screen on h264 files

since vlc-2.2.0-1 package version I notice a weird bug on playback with h264 videos files :
    - sometimes the screen is black in the GUI of vlc when I open h264 video file, but when I seek/move inside the file the bug is gone, no black screen
    - the gamma setting doesn't work, no effect
it's a random bug, but it's easy to trigger the bug,
if I downgrade to vlc-2.1.5-5 then there is no bug,
I use archlinux 64 bits, radeon driver ( ati radeon HD4650 PCie )

do any of you can help in this?
First of all, AVI is a file container—not a compression format. Since you indicate, the file opens/plays in VLC, your first step is to determine the video codec that is giving you problems. Do this by opening the file in VLC and checking the media information and expanding the video stream. If the codec component is one commonly available for use on the Mac, then you can install it for use by QT. If not, you can try transcoding the video using VLC itself. If this fails, i.e., the output is visible but plays as though the frames had been re-ordered, as a last resort I would try transcoding the file using HandBrake.

  • Facebook video black screen since IOS6 update

Since I did an IOS6 update this afternoon, the videos on facebook are coming up as black screens only.  When this happened previously, enabling secure browing in facebook did the trick.  This time, that isn't working ..
    Ideas?

    Restore it as new.

  • ITunes after 10.8.3 combo update doesn't play video, only audio with a black screen

My iTunes has been randomly playing really old QuickTime files as I've had iTunes start in 32 bit mode.  That worked for a while, but like I said, it has stopped working and iTunes is back to not playing older QT movie files.  Fine.
Now, however, iTunes didn't play a PROTECTED file that I purchased from the iTunes store.  I made sure my computer was authorized to play the file, the store said my computer was already authorized.  iTunes plays the AUDIO of the selected video, but only shows a black window where the video should be playing.  It did this for several videos.  I was confused.
I restarted my computer and now iTunes is playing the file as it should.  It is not however playing my MPG QuickTime movie files that it has played for years.
What is going on with the software?  I've followed the threads telling me to remove Perian, remove, Filp4Mac, restart, run in 32-bit mode, etc and nothing is now working when those solutions worked just last week.
Any input about what I should try next would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!
    Chad

Reinstall 10.8.3 using the 10.8.3 combo installer.

  • Cannot play video: black screen and no audio but time shows it's running

I am trying to play my videos saved to iTunes but there is neither audio nor visual. The playbar shows the video is running.

  • Thunderbolt display is detected, charges, has audio BUT a black screen

    Hi guys.
I'm having a major issue with my Thunderbolt display - I can't see anything on it.
I have a 13" Late 2011 MacBook Pro and I bought my Thunderbolt display about a month after (around December 2011).
When I connect my MBP to the Thunderbolt connection it detecs the screen and flashes blue as usual, but then the Thunderbolt display remains black and my MBP loses it's toolbar and dock (as they are setup to use the default screen - which is the Thunderbolt).
My MBP charges off the screen, it can play music through the screen and my computer acts as if it is there... however the issue being the whole screen is black (as if it not connected).
My boyfriend has the exact same setup and I have tried my MBP with his screen with no issues. However we have tried his MBP with my Thunderbolt and it will not display either.
This issue had been intermittent for a while, but when I was using it today it suddenly went black and I've had no luck since making it work.
    Is my Thunderbolt dead?
(by the way, I have reset the PRAM with no luck)

Well I think I have found my problem. I took mine in to get repaired and they told me it had a faulty logic board which had been 'replaced and fixed', only when I got round to testing it, the same thing happened. I took it back and turns out the backlight had actually died.
This is a bit confusing as it was intermittent and I would assume that either the backlight is broken or it isnt... However it may have been a combination of the two...
I never had a chance to test the F12 fix that worked for you. I suppose I will wait now and see!
Maybe you have the same issue with dodgy hardware?

  • Mac OS 10.6.8 can't watch youtube videos, black screen, no sound, nothing happens w/click.

Not real computer savy but this happened all of the sudden.  Tryed going back and watching videos I've watched before.  No go.  Tryed uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe a couple of times with restart, no change.  Made sure my apple updates were up to date, nothing.
There was some direction on YouTube to try right clicking or ctrl clicking on the video and it'll bring up a certain menu where you can select to watch the video a different way.  Tryed that, and the menu options they say should come up, don't come up.
I can't figure it out.  Help would be much appreciated as it's driving me nuts.
    Thank you!

You rock Clinton!  It was F*king Safari messing up my mojo.  Man, I just spent... 5 hours of pure frustration.  Thank you so much, you've gotta have some good karma coming your way for that.
So, installing Firefox did the dealio for me on this one.
    Now I can watch fun videos like;
