Audio not matching video

Hello-
I am shooting with a Canon XHA1 on 24p. I completed one project using Adobe Premiere Elements 7...no problem. However, I just shot another movie and I captured about 10 minutes worth of video. For about two minutes, the audio and video matched, but it progressively got worse. On my camera it is fine, but on the timeline and video playback the audio/video matchup is horrible (especially the last few minutes)
Any idea on what the culprit might be?
I dont want to have to manually go in and slice up my audio each time I edit something.

No, this was not in the patch. When you open a new file, on the bottom left of the screen that pops up to name your project, you can click on the project settings. It gives you a whole list of things and it's under the folder called HDV...24p is an option listed there. This is Adobe Premiere Elements 7 by the way.

  • Clip from Flip camera- audio not matching video

    Greetings,
When I play my clip form the flip camera in the browser it works. I then mark what I want to put in the timeline.
When I put it in the timeline, audio does not match with video. Any suggestions? Thanks

I have to agree. I use Compressor constantly. It is my central hub in this formatly dysfunctional video world.
I will also suggest that getting competent with Qmaster and Quick clusters will make Compressor a MUCH better tool.
I recently added an i7 2.0 quad server to deal with file and print serving, web, email etc and also set it up as an unmanaged cluster on the network (giga ethernet). Between it and my MacPro, Compressor stuff is happening in a fraction of the time it used to take.  For example, just finished a 1 hr project and the encoding to m2v and ac3 for the DVD took 8 minutes - hardly enough time to get get coffee.
    x
edit - running qmaster on a remote dual core mac may not be worth it. In testing it seems the time it takes to send the parts out to the remote machine, get them back and then put the whole thing together may take longer than keeping everything on one machine. The real benefit comes when there are lots of cores to be employed. Michael G's suggestion to head over the Digital Rebellion site to find Jon's write-up on setting up Qmaster is good advice.

  • Thumbnails do not match video content when imported

My thumbnails do not match video content when imported. They assume the look of the first video imported into an event, while showing correct source content when skimmed through. Also, audio for every video clip I import is changed to that of the first clip imported in an event. Very awful to realize only when you've just imported every video you've made. Any thoughts?
Also, my source for clips is an external OneTouch drive, don't know if that plays into the import problem.

Is your Event source list visible on the bottom left of your screen? You should see all your events there.
There is a button at the extreme lower left of the imovie window which allows you to show or hide the event list. Make sure that it is in show position, so you can navigate to your other events.

  • Video and audio not matching

I am fairly new to editing so this may seem like a basic question. I am working on a project where there were 2 cameras. I put down the footage from the first camera into the time line. I am trying to overlay footage from the second camera on v2 so instead of a close-up shot, it shows a wider angle shot. Since both camera were going at the same time, I am only using the audio from the first camera. My problem is when I overlay the second camera footage, I can't seem to get the audio to match exactly. Even when I think I have the playhead in the right spot, it seems off slightly. I have tried moving it several times but I can't get it exactly right.
Thank-you in advance for any help you can give me.

what you need to do is find a single frame where you can match with certain frame accuracy
a good example of a frame to match on would be one where a flash occurs (from a stills camera) or one where a subject in camera blinks. double click the upper track to load it in the viewer, find a good sync point frame and add a marker (press M), now do the same for the lower clip, marking the same frame. down in the timeline nudge the clips left or right so that the two markers line up
you might also want to do a little reading on using FCP's built-in Multiclip functionality

  • Sound does not match video

I have imported an HD video from a Canon HV30 camcorder into iMovie HD 6.0.3. The picture looks great but the sound does not match the video. I have never encountered this problem before when importing from other video camcorders (non HD). Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem? Thanks.

    Hello, skidude23,
    Welcome to the discussions.
Was the sound recorded in 12 bit instead of 16 bit?
You can fix this by extracting the audio from the video clips. Put your movie clips in the timeline, and put it in the 'timeline' vies.
Select the clip first, then go Advanced->extract audio. It may take a while, but you will then have the video clip on the video track, muted, with a separate audio track below it. You can then select 'show audio wave form' to see the audio waves and move the audio track slightly to get it synched with the video for that clip. When it is correct, do a 'Lock audio at playhead' to secure it.
Do this for each of your clips. If your clips are quite long, this extraction can take a very long time. That is why I said to do it one clip at a time, but that does get tedious.

  • Audio doesnt match video

Every time i try to log and capture video from the camcorder to the comp at the end of my importing it says:
"the audio sample rate of one or more of your captured media files does not match the sample rate on your source tape. This may cause the video and audio of these media files to be out of sync. Make sure the audio sample rate of your capture preset matches the sample rate of your tape"
    Any ideas on fixing this?
    IChat: Splitusa52

I know there is a menu for sample rate in the QT audio settigs section of Capture presets but I can't see the options because I have no input right now. I imagine 32khz would be an option. Josh, you could check that once you've verified the clips are 32.
Good point about going back to tape. I just assumed the deck or camera wouldn't care and would just record what it's getting at 48 (if that's what it was set for) but again... could be wrong.
But worse comes to worse Josh, you could edit then do a QT Export with conversion and change the sample rate to 32 there if necessary.
Hope I haven't made things more confusing here.

  • Audio Not Matching Up after Log and Capture

After I log and capture my film on my computer a message puts up and says something like your audio is not aligned with your film you may want to fix the audio. The audio is way off from what I was filming. I tried 3 different Mini DVs and all had the same results. The good thing was I was just trying to make a sort of pump up video for a friend for colleges to look at so it wasn't that vital for most of the film. But when I needed the part where she was speaking about her stats and everything I had to relign the audio to match the movement of her mouth. Did I accidentally change a setting when importing film onto my computer?

    hello
You might have captured the media with a different audio sample rate to how it was recorded in the camera. The default, standard audio rate in FCP is 48kHz, so the tape might have been recorded at 32kHz, or alternatively, it might have been recorded at 48kHz but you might have you project set up at 32kHz...
Your capture/project settings should match the media.
You can check the audio rates by looking in the browser window... scroll accross to the column that reads Aud Rate... what does it say?
Then check your sequence by clicking on the timeline and pressing command(apple)+0... this will bring up the sequence settings window... look at the Audio Settings... wgat does it say there?

  • Adjusting audio to match video

I have digitized video from 16mm film and made a corresponding audio with text and music to run approximately in sync with the 16mm projector when I showed the film. I now have the audio digitized in aiff format and would like to sync the audio with the digitized video using iMOVIE HD. It appears that the frame rate of the digitized video is different than the 16mm film projection and thus I need to slow down or speed up the audio to match. Can that be done in iMOVIE HD?

welcome hilflos ( ...oh, what a sad nic ... :-/ ) to the  board of discussions ...
Can that be done in iMOVIE HD?
no, there's no automatic "fit to selection" button in iM ...
what I would give a try...
get QuicktimePro (you will need it anyhow...)
export/"share" your iM project as Quicktime, Full Quality...
open the resulting file in QTpro ..
    open your soundtrack with QTpro...
select all, copy it (Apple-A, Apple-C)
    switch to open movie window..
select "add scaled" .. that makes the audio fit..
save file as "dv stream", import that into iM
that "scaling" could result in odd acustic phenomenons...
.. but better try, then doing all the audio edit again..
another option is Amazing Slowdowner from http://www.ronimusic.com/, which is able to .. ehm, slow down or speed up audio without any pitching effects.. but, afaik, you are not able to set a specfic time, just sliders...
most elaborated audio tools, as Logic, offer such "pitching" feature ...

  • When I add a video to my timeline, it only allows the audio, not the video. It is in MOV format.

I am working on my first project with Elements Premiere, and when I add a video from my computer, it will only add it to the audio, not the movie section. All of my files are in MOV format. I am able to open the same file in Microsoft Movie Maker, just not in Elements Premiere.

Which version of Quicktime do you have installed?
MOV is a wrapper, what is inside YOUR wrapper - Exactly what is INSIDE the video you are editing?

  • Audio not accompanying video in capture

Suddenly my system stopped capturing the audio associated with video clips. I'm using PP CS4 on a Mac (Leopard) and have used this configuration including this camcorder for more than a year (and have used Premiere since 2002). The exact setup successfully imports audio with video into QuickTime and iMovie but not Premiere PCS4. I've tried every setting I can think of --not that I'd altered any since it last worked--but cannot find the problem. Of course this has brought editing to a halt so any help leading to a solution will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

No waveform display on captured clips--definitely flatline.
No changes were made by me (intentionally) on settings between the time it was working and the time it wasn't. I did use another sound program in between and it was launched at the time of launching Premiere but I've sinced rebooted the computer a number of times, ensuring that that sound program (Soudsaver) was not launched and doing all the usual things of checking connections and with the camcorder, etc, everything as normal except that audio signal capture of video clips still fails.
Capture settings for video: abort for dropped frames unchecked; the other three are checked.
    Capture settings for audio:
              automatch 1.0 secs.,
              Mixdown type Front+Rear;
              Play audio while scrubbing;
              default track format: use file
              linear keyframe thinning
              (two other boxes unchecked)
Thanks for any help with this vexing problem.

  • HELP - after publishing to Media Browser, still images do not match video

OK - here's what I'm trying to do:
I've got my family's video on an external HD (1TB) hooked up to my (new) imac. I'e created a rough cut project (1.5 hours). I'm trying to transfer it to my (new macbook) laptop so I can work on it when I'm travelling.
I've published the project to the media browser and transfered it to the other compuer. However, the still images in the project library window do not match the video, which makes it hard to edit. When I go back to my imac and disconnect the hard drive, the same thing happens. When I reconnect the hard drive, the video stills in the project library window match the video.
    Any fixes?

For DVDs, share to Media Browser - Large. You are correct that DVDs cannot handle HD and would cut it down to 640x480 anyway. The Large size (960x540) seems to provide the right balance of quality and enough material for the compression to MPEG2 to sink its teeth into.
No need for HD size unless you are sharing to BluRay, Sharing to YouTiube, watching on a device like the Sony PS3, or watching on your computer.

  • When I use airplay it only displays the audio not the video

How can i display the image and the audio on airplay.  It only shows the audio when I use airplay.  Please need help.

This is usually due to the app not allowing video to airplay for nebulous rights reasons.
Check the app provider's website or itunes store reviews.

  • Netflix is lagging (video/audio not matching) in Firefox but not in other browsers

When I open Netflix on Firefox, the audio and video start off in sync but in less than a minute the video falls far behind the audio. I tried it in Chrome and it worked fine, just not in Firefox. I also deleted the temporary Silverlight files (suggested on Netflix's support site: https://help.netflix.com/en/node/219) and of course I've tried restarting the browser many times, but it still doesn't work right. Help? I'm using Windows 8.1 on HP.

Please check your antivirus/firewall settings to make sure that silverlight xml application traffic is not flagged.
    *[application/x-silverlight] mentioned: [https://community.mcafee.com/thread/28572?start=10&tstart=0]
Are you using 64bit mode? [http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx]
Try to restart the browser after deleting the temporary files, it may also be the size of the cache. It is also possible to clear the cache for just netflix by going to about:permissions searching for netflix and clicking on "Forget this site"
I do not think that accleration would affect it, but to be sure please try:
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
#Open Firefox ''Options'' window (''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux) as follows:
#* In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and select ''Options'' for Windows or ''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux.
#* In Firefox 28.0 and previous versions, click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
#In the Firefox Options (or Preferences) window, click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select ''General''.
#In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
#Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]

  • Audio not matching with video in videos

Hello,I recently built a new computer. When I go to play iTunes files the audio is way off of the video. An example being, a guy shuts a door on video and 2 seconds later I hear it. I've tested and know it's not the GPU. Youtube and my other videos play perfectly. My system has a 3.2 GHz core i3, 8GB or RAM, and Radeon HD 5670... it can definitely play SD video! Videos are not enjoyable for viewing and I really need help. Thanks!

Yes. I solved it with the latest catalyst update from AMD. Try updating whatever GPU driver you have. Sorry it's been months since I looked on.
