Audio not playing through external speakers

I have all the right connections and get nothing.
I am trying to use my laptop in my home theater room. I have a DVI to HDMI cable for video and then I have a Mini Plug adapter (headphone jack) on a Co-AX cable for my audio which is plugged into my receiver. I went into the menu of my receiver and made sure I selected the correct set up and I still get no audio. I am not getting any video either for that matter. I have a HD Projector with 3 HDMI inputs so I am not sure why I am not seeing anything.
Now I do have an HDTV elsewhere in my house and I hooked my Macbook Pro to that and switched the input of the TV to HDMI and I WAS able to see my desktop on the TV. However, the audio was not playing. I had the audio plugged into the PC Audio Input on the TV but only heard the audio when I switched from HDMI to PC on my TV.
I only hooked it up to my HDTV as a test to see if my cables were bad which they are not. I am just not sure why I can't get it to work in my Theater room!

Its not weird at all. FCP is designed for it's output to be monitored on an external TV and speakers via your Mac's Firewire output (or dedicated capture card, if you have one). If you prefer not to monitor the recommended way, in FCP, go to View->Audio Playback and choose the setting you want.

My iPod Touch will not play through external speakers when it is docked.  It only plays through it's internal speaker.  All the other functions on the iPod can be controlled by the external speakers (volume, track, etc).  How do I fix this?

    I would try in oreder:
    - Resetting the iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restoring the iPod via iTunes.  First from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • Sound will not play through external speakers

I just bought my IPod two days ago and suddenly it will not play music through the speakers anymore and is stuck in headphone mode. I have tried plugging and unplugging the headphones several times to see if it would work, but it would not. Is there a solution for this?

    You can try:
    - Resetting the iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restoring the iPod from backup
    - Restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.
If those do not work you likely have a hardware problem.

Using Airport Express for External speakers and Apple TV.  When I'm on MAC computer adn using internet sound from Internet does not go through external speakers.  Instead it comes out of Mac computer speaker.  Why?

As far as I know, the Airport Express only transmits sounds via Itunes. So every other sound (internet, but also incoming mail) will be coming out of your mac instead of your external speakers.

  • Music plays through external speakers when earphones plugged in

When earphones are plugged in sound plays from external speakers.  How can I correct this?

hmm.. there can be a few issues and a few solutions... if there has been any type of water damage to your ipod this may not be helpful.. a few reasons why the external speakers are playing while the ear phones are plugged in may be 1) your ipod touch may not recognize that the ear phones are plugged in... to fix this you may try a few things.. 1. plug in your headphones slowly... that may fix the issue if it still doesnt work try blowing in the headphone jack to eliminate and dust.
if you think that there is a hardware problem please take it to your nearest apple store.. they may be able to fix it or give you a new one

  • Sound not playing through internal speakers or headphones

Okay, so I am wanting to listen to audio, but it is not working through my speakers or headphones. Last time that this happened, I know that it had something to do with airplay, since I remember doing something with airplay. I have no idea what is causing this this time, but if you need any additional details, just ask.

Have you tried a PRAM reset?

  • Getting audio to play through computer speakers

    Hi
Ive got an external NSTC monitor and im trying to get the sound to match up with the video on it. If i do audio follows video, then the sound comes out of the monitor which sounds like crap because it has bad speakers. If i make the audio come out of my computer speakers, then it is out of sync with the video on the external monitor. i guess i could get a bunch of cords from radio shack and get a splitter and plug the computer and the audio into my computer speakers, but i was wondering if there was a way within final cut to get the audio to play in sync but not through the external monitor's audio.

well i do have good speakers<<</div>
Good speakers and good monitors for editing work usually aren't the same thing. In post work, either video or audio, the audio monitors need to have a flat response; they should not color the sound in any way. That's the only way you know what the true audio will sound like.
Most speakers, including computer speakers do color the sound; some quite a bit, especially in the low end.
Nearfield monitors do provide a flat response and are designed for use in recording studios and edit suites for critical listening. When working in FCP, the ideal setup is to ALWAYS monitor your audio and video through the same path out from the computer, converted to analog and then the video going to an properly calibrated external TV monitor and the audio going to the audio monitors.

  • Apple TV 2 is not playing through Airplay speakers.

I just installed two Airport express base stations, one as a router adn the other as a range extender. Both are connected to speakers for the purpose of using as AIrplay speakers. My other iOS and iMac devices recognize and play through the airplay speakers except the ATV 2 (firmware 5.2). ATV2 recognizes the airplay speakers, but always playing through the TV speakers. How can I make it play through the Airplay speakers? Thanks

Very funny I had the beta before and Airplay speakers worked only for music and music videos. Now I updated to the latest and now I can use Airplay Speaker for MOVIES as well.
But it works only with my ATV2 and not with my ATV3 (no beta was installed before)

  • Play through external speakers

When I control my computer with my iPad (via Apple TV), I want the music to play through the external speakers (connected to my Apple TV... Stereo) instead of my computer.  How can I tell iTunes to play this way?

    Hey Steve,
It sounds like you may want to setup AirPlay between iTunes and your Apple TV. Here is some more information on how to do so:
iTunes 11 for Windows: Choose which speakers to use
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12351
Use speakers connected to an AirPort Express network, Apple TV, or another AirPlay-enabled device: Click the AirPlay button at the top of the iTunes window, and choose the speakers from the pop-up menu that appears.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Why will my laptop audio not play through my apple tv?

When I connect my laptop to my Apple TV via airplay, the audio still comes out of my laptop speakers. I tried to change it in the audio settings, however when I click Apple TV in the output, it jumps back to internsal speakers. The Apple TV is up to date. Can someone help? Thanks!

    Hi Trindyl,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of the issue you are describing. Playback of rented movies is somewhat different than for purchased content. For the most part, rented movies can only be played back on the original device that it was rented from unless it was rented from a computer, and for computers transfers have other limitations. You may find the information in the following articles helpful, particularly this portion:
Where can I watch movies that I rented?
    Mac or PC
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch (with iOS 3.1.3 or later)
iPod classic, iPod nano (3rd, 4th, or 5th generation)
    TV using Apple TV
Watch your movie on the device you used to rent it. If you rented the movie on your computer, you can move it to an iOS device or Apple TV (1st generation). To do this, connect the devices and sync using USB. When you move a rented movie from your computer, it will disappear from your computer’s iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as much as you want, but you can only have it on one device at a time.
If you rented the movie on your iOS device or Apple TV, you can’t move it to any other device.
To watch an HD movie, you need to play it on a supported device: your computer, iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or TV using Apple TV.
You can’t stream a rented movie from your computer to your Apple TV using AirPlay because it’s DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected content.

  • Presenting on ipad: will the video sound play through external speakers?

I'm giving a presentation on my iPad, using Keynote. I have always had problems connecting the iPad to the podium in our classrooms (using the connector)--the screen mirrors beautifully, but the sound doesn't get transmitted. There is a speaker jack on the podium that always works with my MacBook, but when I plug it into the iPad2, no sound (except for the iPad's own speakers). Can anyone help? I don't want to have to take my MacBook--but I need sound! Thanks.

  • Logic Pro X only plays through display speakers, no issue with Logic 9

When I use Logic Pro X, my sound will not play through external speakers or headphones, only through my thunderbolt display.

  • My iPod touch is not playing through my stero

My iPod touch 4g is not playing through my stero. My stero has a dock that you can plug in your iPod or iPhone and you are able to select music to listen to. My iPod used to be able to do it but now it won't. My iPod shows that it is conected, but everytime I try to pres play on a song it will not play through the speakers of my stero. It does say it is playing, but it is not playing through the speakers of my stero. My steros speakers work just fine. It did however play my dads iPhone, so I know it is just my iPod touch.

    No good.
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

i was wondering if you could have one desktop audio playing through your speakers and the other one playing through your apple tv at the same time?

Problem here is you admit you cannot afford the service.
And you want to blame Verizon for losing a job because you have no cell phone.
If your job depends on that phone I would pay it on time every time if you need a job to pay your bill.
No other service is going to treat you any different. And if you cannot afford Verizon's monthly invoice how are you going to afford new devices, activation fees, possible security deposits on any other cellular carrier? You can't.
Also if you made an arraignment to pay and then decide you cannot do so, why should Verizon extend you service or credit, or why is it you want to use the service and data and not pay for it as agreed.
Get a prepay phone. Its evident the cost is too high for you to afford on post pay.
    Good Luck
