Audio not synching during publish

Hello everyone. I'm working in Captivate 4, (purchased, not
trial). I'm relatively new user, but have been working intensely
for about a month developing my tutorial.
My project previews correctly, (entire file is 117 slides, 9
minutes long.)
However, after publishing to an AVI file, the audio does not
match up with the video - the audio playback is slightly slower,
and after 2 minutes, has lapped the slide.
I tried different publish settings, but have not found
anything to work, although changing some settings have improved the
output somewhat.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me?
This file will be published on YouTube. This is a
demonstration video only.
My audio was developed using text to speech, (so no music
quality sound is required) and each slide has one audio file per
slide, (nothing embedded.)
Settings I chose were:
Video Format: MJPEG Compressor (tried Indeo, but syncing was
worse)
Audio: PCM (only choice)
Encoding: FM Radio (64) and 11.025 KHz Frequency
Encoding Speed 5
I restarted, and do not have any other program actively
running (except Kasperski)
We recently reformatted the hard drive on this machine, took
every program off, defragmented, so the system is very lean and
clean.
Added more memory, so now we have 3 GIG of memory.
Running XP, the only installed programs are MS Office,
Kasperski, and Captivate.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Teri, do this for me, if you would, please:
    Check "
Movie > Preferences > Preferences tab > (check)
"Include Audio When Movie Is Generated".
    Did that help?
To Everyone Monitoring This Thread: Another easily
overlooked troublemaker is the "Audio" icon (tiny speaker) located
beneath the timeline when you are viewing a single slide
(duh - sorry, brain fart - of course that's when yo see it because
the timeline isn't visible until you go to Edit mode - double duh).
Anyway, if you click it, you will turn audio off for
all single-slide previews - note ... I said ONLY previews of
the currently open slide. This will NOT affect other previews, nor
will it affect audio in the published product . . .
Hope this info helped some - have a good weekend!

  • Lose audio - not video - during FaceTime

My i7 MBP loses all audio after several minutes of a FT conversation.  I still get distant end audio and video but distant end gets video only - the mute button has NOT been activated.  Any clues to help me????

  • Captivate 6 randomly dropping imported audio from slides during publish.

I think I remember this occurring in 5.5 as well, but only very occasionally. In this (my first) cp6 project, it's occurred 3 times already.
What occurs is that upon viewing the output (.exe), one slide will just not play the audio imported to it, although the slides before that one and the slides after it play their imported files.
I have re-published the project 6 times, and in two of those new publishes, it has dropped audio in a different slide, and played the audio on the slide where it previously did not play audio.
The imported files play just fine in all slides during preview in every case, so it seems to be occuring at publish. These are straight  Audio > Import to > Slide wav files.
    Anyone else see this?
At this point I just have to keep re-publishing until I get one that plays all files and call it a day.

    Hi, Varun.
I finally got around to updating to 6.0.1.240 this morning.
The audio issue seems to still be there....it still drops imported audio from certain sildes, randomly.  It changes with every publish.
THEORY: I noticed that on one of the slides where audio didn't play, the audio file contained a small silent region before the narration began. Maybe .3 or .5 seconds. I removed that silent portion so that the narration starts almost immediately (i.e. less than .2 second seconds of silence.) and for that slide, the audio did play at publish.  So perhaps something in the playback exe is ignoring any audio that starts "too late" into the slide.... ?
I am now going back to check the audio files in every slide to remove any preceding silent passaages, and see if that cures this. Will update with my findings.
Another issue I noticed  is that my background loop randomly stops playing. (This may have been  in the previous build, too, not sure.) Not sure if this is in any way related.
If I pause and un-pause, the background music returns (starts at beginning of loop), and then stops again.. I verfied that "Loop Audio" is turned on.
    Thanks.

  • Captivate 4  TTS Audio not playing in published or preview ok in edit

While viewing my project in published view, audio did not play on 5 of my 70 slides. (It worked fine previously). It played Ok in edit but no sound in preview or published. I tried to replace the audio using the Convert TTS button, and the audio would not replace the previous audio. Even removing the audio and dragging the new audio to the timeline would not work.  I reinstalled Captivate 4 and TTS, and it seems to work fine on new a new projects but I can not seem to get it to fix my current project.  Can anyone advise if I can fix those slides, or have I somehow corrupted those slides? It's a big project.  Thanks in advanced

If I ever see dodgy behaviour like this on a slide, and it doesn't resolve easily with a reboot or republish, I just recreate the slides and delete the old ones.  It's often far quicker to do this than muck around trying to fix them.  If there is corruption in a slide, you don't want it anywhere in your project.

  • Audio not synching with video

I use I movie 4.0.1 and OS 10.2.8. I have made lots of movies. However the recent movie that I am working on shows a lack of synching between the audio and the video. What to do? thanks, Dr. Steve

  • Audio not synching with video when capturing

When capturing video from my Sony DV camera, the audio is always out of synch with the video which has forced me to move the audio in the timeline to manually synch. The amount by which it's out of synch seems to vary, i.e. not always out of synch by the same number frames.
I'm sure there's a capture setting to fix it but have yet to locate it.
    Thanks.

A separate issue perhaps, but after my recent upgrade to CS6 I need to render out a stacked 18 minute timeline done in CS5 (Win 7/Matrox MXO2). All 7 tracks of audio are out of synch 8 frames late.  When it comes to common backwards compatibility issues that I feared, it's a pretty simple fix after a render, unlink and re-render.   I don't see this mentioned in the archives, so if anyone has an explanation or quick fix I'd appreciate hearing about it.

  • Audio not working when published

When I record an audio clip within Captivate, although I can
hear it when previewing that one slide, I can't hear it when
previewing multiple slides or viewing the published movie. I know
it has nothing to do with push-buttons or other elements on the
slide (I've tried recording on blank slides, with the same result).
I've also tried exporting the audio files and listening to
them in Windows Media Player, and they work just fine (both the
.wav and .mp3 versions). This problem just started happening today.
For the last several months I've recorded tons of audio on several
different movies with no problems, but now it's not working.
I'm even worried that this issue is somehow corrupting some
of my CP files. Even after I delete all of the audio clips from the
slides they were on, and saving the CP file to a different name (it
contains 30 slides and is about 2MB), when I view the Bandwidth
Analysis, the Video size for Slide 1 shows 546KB, even though Slide
1 contains very minor things (an image and a text caption)--the
same kinds of elements as on every other slide, all of which have a
    Video size of approximately 20KB.
So I inserted a blank slide after Slide 1 and copied the
elements (an image and a text caption) from Slide 1 to the new
slide, then viewed the Bandwidth Analysis again, and the new slide
was only 20KB or so, much smaller than the original Slide 1. But
then when I deleted the original Slide 1, the new slide I created
suddenly takes on the same huge Video size in the Bandwidth
Analysis as the previous Slide 1.
Bottom line--I can no longer publish any audio in about 1/2
of my Captivate movies. Can anyone please help?

  • IChat audio not working during video chats

For the last month or so I have been unable to get normal audio connections during iChat video chats.
The person on the other end can hear me, but the audio I hear from them pops in and out and frequently seems muted. I thought it was their computer at first, but now the problem seems to be happening to me chatting with different people that are on different computers. It's also not an internet problem at my home, because the problem occurs consistently when I am at different locations, in different cities.
It's not my mute button, and I've checked my sound preferences in system preferences and everything looks okay. This seems to be associated with a system software upgrade and I'd love to know how to fix it. Running OS 10.6.4 on a MacBook Pro 17".
I read some of the other discussions on this topic and couldn't find a solution, or anything I could easily understand how to fix.
    Thanks for any help!

    Hi,
iChat 5 uses your whole Internet speed.
This is different to iChat 4 and Earlier that was capped by what was set in System Preferences > Quicktime > Streaming (Also not there in Snow Leopard).
If you and your Buddy are on vastly different Internet speed iChat will try to match the lowest Upload speed at both end.
After that Buffering tries to smooth out the natural variances in Connection speed you have.
This is where the issue mostly lies.
iChat has always tended to drop Audio before any picture issue show up.
As the Max setting in Quicktime was 1.5Mbps a 5% or even 10% variance was handled by iChat.
However in iChat 5 you may be on a 20Mbs+ service both Up and down and 5% of this is more than can be handled by the iChat Buffering.
What you can do is Limit iChat in the iChat Menu > Preferences > Video/Audio section > Bandwidth Limit.
Set it to 500kbps as a start.
Get your Buddy to do the same no matter what version they have.
If this is successful then try the 1Mb setting.
You can change during a chat.
If you have the Connection Doctor Open (Video Menu) you can watch the Bit rates change as the Buffering smooths this out.
Get you Buddy to Increase his Bandwidth Limit once the Bit rate has smoothed out.
Essentially repeat for each increase until you find what speed you can manage predictably and works with the most amount of Buddies.
    NOTES:
Don't try below 200kbps. The real world lower Limit is 100kbps and you need some for any variances if someone only has 128kbps upload.
384Kbps is the lower limit for a 4 way Video chat with you as Host, so 500kbps is more than enough. You will only see figures in the Connection Doctor above this if both ends are on a very fast service. (Higher speeds as Host does stop 3rd and 4th Buddies causing a quality drop off).
Things that can impinge on your Connection Speed are other computers such as one doing a Download of something. You are left with a smaller Portion (Bandwidth).
Other apps also use some Bandwidth which is why iChat refers to the control as Bandwidth Limit - allowing enough for other apps.

  • Audio Not Playing in Published Version

I have a 41 slide project with audio on each slide. When I
preview in browser(f12) all audio plays fine. When I publish to SWF
the audio drops at slide 28 and continues to the end. I have
checked all settings in the Publish preferences and the individual
    slides.

    Hi T&DMan,
Is he producing one me her joining of the sound with the
slides in the publication of a swf would be that?

  • DVD Audio not synching in Encore CS4

Problem: I'm creating NTSC dvd in Encore CS4 and audio starts out fine but begins "skipping" around after about 2 minutes. Project looks and sounds fine in PPCS4. The project is 3hrs and 40 min. long. I'm using Verbatim DVD-R's and have been using them for over 2 yrs. - Windows platform. Write speed is 18x. There are no transitions or edits at the point at where audio starts "skipping" or "jumping" and the video shows a man speaking in front of an audience and continues showing him, then all of a sudden the audio skips.
    Any help would be appreciated.

The 2-DVD set is probably a good idea. I have been faced with similar. I have one client whose player will NOT play any burned DL discs. For him, I need to break things down to multiple disc sets.
Even with limited motion Assets, I try to limit DVD-5's to 120 mins. of Duration. If I go much over that (just a rule of thumb, based on my tests of quality), I'm reaching for the DVD-9's, or looking to find logical disc breaks in PrPro.
    Good luck,

  • Adobe edge application not responding during publish

I dont know why but all of a sudden my file wont publish, or at least I dont think it is because I get the death wheel for a solid 10-15 minutes then give up and force quit the program. It was publishing before, but I dont know if this is just a huge upload or what? Please help..

How do I post the file? Nothing in particular, i just hadn't touched the file in a few days and then added a bunch of new animations/image files to it. I thought maybe it was just taking a long time to update the new changes but im not sure.

  • Audio not synched with video

I imported a video clip and when I placed it in the viewer, the audio and video are not synced. How do I sync the audio and video so they match up?

Is this a constant sync problem or does it drift over time?
If it is constant, drop the clip on your Timeline and unlink the audio -press command and L keys.
Slip the audio back into sync and export the clip with current settings, self contained.
Reimport back into FCP and use that version.

  • Edge (Not Responding) during publish

  • Not responding during publish

    Hi
I've got a few animations, that have published previously, but after a bit more work, I've gone to re-publish and the program hangs (beachballing) resulting in me force-quiting the program and the files not published.
Is there anything I can try to get these published?
    v3.0.0 running on MacOS 10.9.1
    Thanks
    Wayne

Hang on publish seems to be because of the malformed object in the code panel for composition ready event.
Rectifying it should not hang the application on publish. Here is the rectified code
// insert code to be run when the composition is fully loaded here
    sym.$('Stage').css({"background-image": "url('images/back.png')", "margin":"0 auto"});
Anyhow thanks for the hang bug.I have logged it for the team and hopefully will get fixed in next Animate update.
