Audio Not Working After H.264 Render CS6

Hi All,
Please help, I'm losing my mind with this.
I have a multi-track sequence that I rendered out to H.264 (Vimeo 720p settings). It uploaded to Vimeo just fine, audio and video synced perfectly, all was good.
My client reviewed the footage, wants a few minor tweaks, but when I went back into PP CS6, the audio on track #1 is no longer recognized. It's showing on the track but there is nothing there, no audio bars, nada.
Basic format: I have a highlight video of an athlete playing hockey. I have cut in some interviews of his coach giving testimonials as well as the athlete discussing his sport. Underneathe is a track of the athlete in his venue (fans cheering, game sounds etc.) and below that is an instrumental soundtrack. I also have some basic still titles in there as well.
Essentially: video track 1: original footage from camcorder, video 2: titles. Audio 1: coach and athlete comments, copied audio only from different interview footage track 2: background sport sounds from original tracks, matches up to the footage of the athlete playing his sport, plays fine. Audio track 3: instrumental track imported from iTunes, plays fine.
Quesion: the audio that is NOT playing was taken from separate footage I shot with my camcorder. I unlinked the audio and video from each other, selected the audio only, copied it, and then pasted it into the track 1 timeline where I wanted it. Is this an issue?
This process worked fine and rendered out ok originally but now that audio is not recognized. Is there something I need to do to link them together?
Please help!
Thanks.
Dave
Note: most up to date CS6 verion of PP being used.

copied it, and then pasted it into the track 1 timeline where I wanted it. Is this an issue?
Possibly.  There is a glitch when copying/pasting.  Give a read through here and see if it helps.

  • [SOLVED] Audio not working after system update

    Hi all,
About 4 days ago, I installed Arch Linux (full systemd) with LXDE on a Dell Inspiron Mini netbook. Everything seemed to be OK until today, when I did pacman -Syu and then installed the SLiM login manager. After rebooting there was no audio. I am not sure if this happened because of the upgrade or because of SLiM. I am pretty new to systemd, so I could be missing something very obvious. I have tried many things so far, with no success:
    1) I disabled SLiM and instead started X from the terminal at boot, and nothing happened.
    2) I have removed my username from the 'audio' group, added it again, removed it, etc... No change.
    3) I downgraded systemd, systemd-sysvcompat, and xine-lib (just in case) to their previous version and nothing happened.
    4) I seem to be detecting the sound card correctly. If I run "aplay -l" as my normal, non-root user I get the same output as the root user:
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC272 Analog [ALC272 Analog]
    Subdevices: 1/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
    5) If I login with SLiM, my session seems to be setup correctly, as far as I can tell:
    $ loginctl show-session $XDG_SESSION_ID

Thanks Rasi. Incidentally, I just solved the issue a few minutes ago and was about to post the answer, but yes, you are right... the device was muted. It's embarrassing, but it did not seem obvious to me that the device was muted... All the sliders seemed OK, with nice, green values between 50 and 100. Also, the LXDE volume control was unmuted with a value between 50% and 100%, and I ran the 'amixer sset Master unmute' command several times. Clearly, this command does not do the job.
What I was missing is nicely described in the PulseAudio troubleshooting:
If one experiences no audio output via any means while using ALSA, attempt to unmute the sound card. To do this, launch alsamixer and make sure each column has a green 00 under it (this can be toggled by pressing 'm')
I was not pressing 'm'... I know it's on the wiki, but this did not seem to be a PulseAudio issue, which was working perfectly yesterday and was not upgraded, so the PulseAudio troubleshooting was not the first place I looked for solutions. I wonder why the device got muted in the first place.
    Thanks again for the help!

  • Audio not working after upgrading to mountain lion

    <eom>

Yesterday evening I had the same problem. The sound was stuttering a while, and then it was not possible to adjust the volume settings with the keys. Also my computer (laptop MBpro 2009) was slow as ****, when I tried to open the sound preferences.
Even a reboot didn't help, as setting the audio midi settings. The results where terrible.
Just many hours later I was able to solve this problem. I used a program called ICECLEAN.
I checked/Cleaned the preferences files for the SYSTEM and USER.
    still no results.
After that I did a full CLEAN USER AND SYSTEM CACHE.
Reboot the machine and then everything worked correctly.
    thanks APPLE!

  • Audio not working after Windows 10 upgrade (Lenovo G780)

After my upgrade to Windows 10 on my Lenovo G780, it seems like my audio isn't functioning anymore. I tried to plug in my headset as well to check if I had audio coming through that, but it does not appear in the Playback Devices window when plugged.  The laptop comes with Conexant SmartAudio HD and also lists High Definition Audio Device under Device Manager.  Could anyone help me out and let me know if there's some problem I am overseeing.  I found a page that has some Conexant software for windows 10 but I am not sure if they are updated drivers or if they even support my machine (the page does not list support for G780). Any help would be appreciated. Thank You.

Well, it has been a long road on the Win 10 upgrade. At first I got the same error message as above, but after deleting the Dolby Advanced Audio v2 in Win 10 using Control Panel Programs and Features and rebooting, I got into the continual BSOD upon reboot. Here are the steps I took to at least get stable on Windows 10. First, I rolled back to Windows 8.1 using the advanced feature in the BSOD recovery options. Once back in Win 8.1, I deleted the Dolby Advanced Audio v2 using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. Then I downloaded the Win 10 update and re-installed it. Once that completed, I updated the Intel Graphics driver under the display adapters (on my G780 it is an Intel HD Graphics 4000, and the driver can be found at  https://downloadcenter.intel.com/). Currently I am running version 10.18.10.4252 for my machine. Then, under the Device Manager, I updated the Conexant SmartAudio HD driver under the Sound, video, and game controllers. That driver is currently at 8.66.4.50 and was automatically downloaded from the web when I requested to update driver.  I also changed several others settings such as Notify to schedule restart after updates are installed instead of automatic (under Settings --> Update & Security --> Advanced Options) and Do you want Windows to download driver software and realistic icons for your devices? --> No, let me choose what to do, never install driver software from Windows Update.  After that, I shut down the machine, waited a moment and booted back up. I have no idea why this helped or if it is overkill, but I am stable and running without a fear of rebooting now. Hope this helps if someone else is having this same issue.

  • Audio not working after installing lion

I have recently installed lion os x on my mac book pro. After installation...there is no sound.
Did anybody face this issue and got a way out.

Several people have complained about it. See, for example, this thread:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1104755
A suggested fix is to try this:
Easy fix, just go into Audio MIDI Setup and change the output format to 2-ch 32-bit float and then it will stick and you won't have any issues from then on. I suspect that there is something wrong with the default (16-bit) mode that bugs out.
However, in my install on an older Macbook Pro 15", I don't have 16-bit sound available. But perhaps it will work for you.

  • Audio not working after 10.6.7 upgrade?

I just upgraded to 10.6.7 and now my computer will not output audio though built in speakers?  However, if I transmit audio to my airport express then there is no problem?  Help?!

I had this exact problem but my internal speakers were not even listed in the sound preferences selection box. It was as if they did not even exist. I then ran 10.6.8 which triggered an unrecoverable kernel panic. The genius bar told me I now need a new logic board. That update killed my laptop.

    hi Nitish,
    Welcome to the Forums.
Just to check, are you using Windows 10 Insider Preview (x64) - Build 10162 which is the latest as of this writing?
I don't have a G400s unit here for testing but can you try the following:
    1. Check if the audio works fine when using a headphone / external speaker
    2. Run Windows Updates to get the latest patch and bug fixes for the OS.
    3. Apply the "workaround" fix as discussed in this microsoft article (the fix requires you to limit the "Maximum memory" to 3072 under MSConfig > Boot > Advanced Options ).

Oh boy! Acting kind of weird seems to be an understatement, aquaequus!
What type of troubleshooting were we able to do with you? I want to make sure that we can get some sort of resolution for this problem.
It is quite possible the battery door may get your phone in working order again. I'm not sure if the store has it in stock, but it is available in our warehouse for $14.99 which can be ordered via customer service.

will take note of that from now on.
Was this auto-update? Try downloading the file and
running the update again with all firewire devices
    unplugged.
While the 828 is disconnected perform the factory

It is supposed to be dark.
Is it all videos that don't display or just some. You may have installed something like Perian or Flip for Mac that translates the video codecs for Quicktime. They may need updating.

  • Internal speakers not working after upgrading to Maverics

internal speakers not working after upgrading to Maverics

There are many possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried.
    1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article. Don't skip any of the steps. It's the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem.
    2. Run Software Update and make sure you have a fully up-to-date installation of OS X.
    3. If you've installed an application called "Memory Clean" or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "purge" memory automatically, remove it according to the developer's instructions and restart. You should do that even if the software is not causing the problem, because it's useless.
    4. If you've installed a software equalizer called "Boom" or anything similar, update or delete it and restart.
    5. If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes (or from other applications via third-party software such as "Airfoil"), deselect it.
    6. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select the Output tab. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them. Move the Volume sliders all the way to the right.
    7. If a red light is coming from the audio-out port, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
    8. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Restart and test.
    9. If you have a MacBook Air, turn off Bluetooth and restart.
    10. Start up in safe mode. Don't log in; just restart as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
    11. Reset the NVRAM.
    12. Reset the SMC.
    13. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data.
    14. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.

Why is the scroll function not working after accessing the voice feature in settings?

For some prerecorded audio files the Transpose slider will not work reliably. I found no clear pattern, when it does and when not.
If all fails, create a loop from the audio file. Select the region in the track and use the command "File: Add region to Loop library".
Set the current key and tempo, name the loop, and save the loop.
Now add it from the loop browser to a new track and delete your old track. The search field in the Loop browser will help you to find the loop quickly.
You will be able to transpose the sample as described above, like a regular loop.
For example - a audio file turned into a loop and transposed:
