Audio not working.video is working

im using ichat on a macook. i went to video chat with someone, that i usually video chat with, and the video part comes up but each of us cant hear one another. i then went to video chat with someone else with a macbook, and i get full use of audio and video. what is wrong??

Basics from the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as NEW. Unless you've tried ALL of these, you're not done troubleshooting.

Without knowing all of the specifics in your situation, you may want to try these options:
- If you have a DTA, and your remote control has a LANG button on it, press it.
- If you have an HD or SD full cable box:

Try:

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

i know i thought well it's just a security update not a major update.

While the 828 is disconnected perform the factory
reset
again.
Disconnect the firewire cable from the 828mkII
-Press the Setup knob
-Turn the Setup knob all the way to the right
-Press the Select knob
-Press the Value knob
-Power off the interface and plug the firewire cable
back
in
-Power the interface back on
i have the original 828 not mark 2, so no reset i know of, just power on off.
After the Mac updates... reboot and plugin the 828,
see if that doesn't get you going.

Laptop left Speaker audio not working

Sir,
I have dv-5 1102 tu model laptop, in that left speaker audio not working. But, in headphones & Speakers have no problem in both left & right audio.

I understand your left speaker is not working on your dv5 notebook.
If the headphones are working it would tell us the sound card is fine. The same properties are applied to the speakers and the headphones in your audio control settings.
You could try a system restore to before the issue started to make sure it's not something in the operating system. To perform a system restore see the following guide: Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8) or Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7).

Audio not working in Photo Booth, video works fine

When I record video in Photo Booth the video works fine, the audio does not work. I have looked through other forums and tried what they have suggested but nothing is working. I sware it worked once but now I can't figure it out.

Powerpoint 2011 mac - video and audio not working

Hello all,
I am using Powerpoint 14.2.5 on my mac running osx 10.8.2
When I try to add video (.MOV / WMV / MPEG-4 etc) or audio files (MP3, AIFF, WAV etc) they appear on the slide but the play controls will not work.
Also when I play my slideshow they do not function.
I can get a movie to play if I set it to play automatcally when that slide is reached but even then it only plays half of the video not the whole thing.
In any case I only want it to play when you click to the next event in the slide show.
Very frustrated.
QuickTime is installed ok.
All updates are installed for both osx and Powerpoint.
Any tips?

Digital Audio not working on Satellite A505 S6012

My digital audio stopped working suddenly. I use HDMI to send the video out of my laptop to my projector. I had been successfully using, for over a year, a digital audio cable in the headphone (SP/DIF) jack to output the sound to my home receiver. The default audio set in the control panel is Realtek Digital Audio.
If I set the output to speakers and plug headphones in the jack, I get sound. If I set the output to Realtek Digital Audio and plug the digital audio cable in, I get no sound. I've tried new cables, changing the input to a different conection on my receiver, reinstalling the Realtek driver, and, as a last resort, completely recovering my laptop to the factory setting. Digital Audio still does not work.
Any suggestions? This is the main way we watch movies in my home.

Audio not working when connected to HDTV

I connected my MacBook Pro to my Samsung HDTV LN40D503F6F and also connected an HDMI cable to the TV using Apple mini DVI cable. I tried connecting to both HDMI/DVI 1 and HDMI 2. Video works fine when connected to both the HDMI ports, but the audio didnt work. I also purchased an a 3.5 mm audio to RCA cable and tried switichin between both the HDMI ports but still it is not working. Any solution would be great. Thanks !!!

While trying to help you, I was looking along the same lines as you were (I assume).
I did a search by the IDT 92HD73E audio codec and all I could find were drivers for system boards with Intel processors such as the driver you tried unsuccessfully.
I have finally found a W8.1 driver for that codec from a desktop PC with an AMD processor and chipset.

Audio not working when on apps, I.e Facebook when directed to another site and snapchat..any ideas?

Please help..not sure what to do. I think I have a fault with the audio on my iPad. It works fine generally, when playing music and getting alerts etc but when I'm using an app such as snapchat, never had audio on the videos and also when using Facebook, if I click on a video that directs me to another site, the audio stops working then too

H gave you the right answer BUT he didn't explain it very well! I never "backed up" or "restored", so I wouldn't know what he was talking about either! But now I do:
If your Apps keep closing (linked with or without Facebook): Go to a desktop or Laptop computer only and log on to iTunes and delete the App (like Jackpot Party.) that keeps crashing.
Then you have to plug in the device you are using that the apps crash on and use iTunes to restore your iOS device back to factory settings. ( After you sync and back up your device to iTunes!)

After restore, go to iTunes store and download the App again ( if it was a game, all levels/coins will still be there!)

Audio not working in CS4

im sorry if this issue was talked about before, i did some research and i can't find the solution for this issue:
i am using Premiere Pro CS4, Windows Vista64, 8GB RAM, i have a good audio card, when i first installed premiere, everything was working fine,
now everytime i import footage from my camera (Sony HDR-SR7) which shoots AVCHD file format. Now when i import the footage to the timeline or even if i play it in the Project panel, the audio wouldn't work. I re-installed premiere, and i have created new projects using different footage in different folders, and still wouldn't work..
i hope this makes sense. and i hope someone could help me please..

When something works (with the same programs and source files) one day, but not the next - something has changed. Harm has already stated that point.
Now, along with your searching for answers to some specific questions, consider this. Windows OS's receive a lot of updates. Most systems have these updates set to automatic. This means that things are constantly changing and the user is seldom fully aware that they are, or what changes are being made - it happens behind the "scenes."
Some of the OS updates can render the various device drivers obsolete in a hurry. Sometimes, when this happens, a few programs will still work with the old driver, but some others will not. This is usually because they access that hardware, through that driver, at a higher level.
Please check the site for you Audio card, and get the latest driver. Install it. Test PrPro.
This happens more often with Audio, than with Video, though it is certainly not immune.
If this does not help, and you still cannot trace down what has changed, you might have luck with the installation of ASIO4All. You WILL need to change your settings in PrPro, Soundbooth, Audition, etc. to point to it, but it has helped many folk (especially Audition users) get things going, or back to normal.
Good luck, and hope that something in the thread will get you back up and running - and WITH Audio!

Beats/IDT Audio not working on Pavilion dv6 running Windows 7

A few months ago my speakers would stop responding midway through audion or video. I assumed a restart was in order and did just that. Problem solved, many times over. Tonight, however, my audio would not work upon restart plus iTunes wouldn't open claiming an issue with my computer's sound properties. I uninstalled/reinstalled IDT audio, tried updating the drivers, updated just about everything else on my computer yet still no sound. My computer relates to me that everything is okay and in perfect working order while the diagnostics state that my sound is not working.
Headphones also don't work. Any thoughts?

Yoga 3 14 audio not working properly

Hi, Could someone please help me? I just bought the yoga 3 14 two days ago. When I am trying to listen to something with my earphones plugged in there is an echo sound. However, if i unplug the earphones and plug back in when the video player is running the echo goes away. The speakers themself have no echo sound. The same earphones are being used with my ipad and there is no echo issue. Has anybody else had the same issue. I have updated all drivers and the computer says that my conexant smart audio is the latest version.
