Audio oddities on MacBook after sleep
Here's the deal: I had 4 tracks of dialog I was working on for an animated movie. Each track had different fx settings. After doing some editing and such I saved the project, and put the MacBook to sleep to go on to something else. When I returned later to work on the project, all the waveform regions were present but 2 trx were not playing back any audio and one was only giving me 1 channel of reverb return but no dry signal, and one was normal.
Weird.
So I copied the project file onto a flash drive and opened it up on my iMac running 10.4, same exact situation. So I got crafty and moved the waveform regions to a new track and viola audio as if nothing had happened! Even applying the saved fx setups (Save Instrument...) from the old trx worked without a hitch.
Maybe this is a gear specific problem, but anyone experience a similar situation?
I just bought a Macbook and I am having the same problem. I am using a linkys wireless-G and I have it set to 64 bit encryption.
Whenever I wake my computer from sleep mode the signal barely gets above one tic mark. I have to restart for a clean connection.
Is this a hardware or software problem? Its very frustrating. I hope someone can explain why this happens.

After my Macbook goes into sleep mode it sometimes won't wake. The keypad lights up but the screen stays black. This problem has only occured after updating to OSX 10.7.2.
All I can do is switch off and restart. Then any programs I have not 'quit' all open.OK, I have a fix.
After spending about an hour online with Apple Care without success, I did a reinstall of the Lion OS. It fixed the problem. I was concerned that I would lose data or settings, but the reinstall was seemless and everything was the way it was before the reinstall except that the "black screen on wake" problem was fixed.
I started the reinstall before I went to bed and it was waiting for me the next morning.

Late 2012 iMac. Audio volume to zero after sleep
When my late 2012 iMac comes out of sleep the volume is always off. Is anyone experiencing the same issue?

Text is blurred .. Safe Boot always works.
Might be a font causing this since Safe Mode disables all third party fonts.
Open FontBook in your Applications folder.
From the FontBook menu bar click File > Restore Standard Fonts
Restart your Mac to test. -
MacBook Air won't wake up after sleep
I've been reporting sleep problems with my iMac for a while in the past. No-one here would take it seriously (probably hardware, your reports are incidents, no-one else has these problems) so I just went away and I disabled the sleep function of my iMac alltogether, and I won't select the "sleep" button in the login screen anymore, or select "sleep" from the apple menu. No sleep no problem, right?
*Well, I bought a Macbook Air three days ago, and in those three days I have had TWO occasions already where I wanted to wake the Macbook after sleep* (closed lid) and it wouldn't wake up. All I get is the rainbow mouse pointer and the Macbook is unusable unless I reboot it.
Mind you, nothing is connected to the macbook but the power cable, and I find it hard to believe that my Macbook Air would also suffer from 'hardware problems' like my iMac alledgedly is.
In all my time using OSX 10.4 on my 17" PowerPC MacBook pro I have never had any problems, but since switching to Intel Macs with 10.5 I have these "sleep" problems all the time.
What gives, and can I expect Apple to do anything about this problem that I've been having since I bought my iMac more than a year ago, and is now also spoiling my MacBook Air experience?I have a Macbook Air and it also frequently (6 times out of 10) will not wake from sleep mode, only way to revive it is to hold down power button for 10 secs and force a restart. VERY FRUSTRATING!
I also occasionally use an external Apple 24' Screen (Non LED) and find that the MBAir will often freeze when you plug that into it or unplug it from it.. Perhaps I have a hardware fault on the MB Air? Or will this be fixed in software? -
MacBook not waking up after sleep
I have a new MacBook, less than a week old.
Sometimes after I open my MacBook after sleep, nothing happens. Only the light on the front turns off but the display does not turn on and I don't hear that noise that Apple computers always make when wake them up or turn them on. I can hear the computer on but nothing is happening. I have to hold down the power button to reboot.
What should I do?I had the same problem, sometimes three or four times a day. You may try "resetting your PMU" -- I did this on suggestion, but continued to have the problem.
I created a new user account and kept all of the default settings, and started using only that account for a while. The problem with coming out of sleep went away, and things were fine for a week so I assume it is something software-related. I switched back to my desired user login now, with still no idea what might be the cause of the problem. If I had to guess, I'd say it's a user-configurable OS setting, or application that cannot recover from sleep mode, that hangs the OS.
I saw on another thread that using "Secure Virtual Memory" is maybe the root cause of some graphics problems (video driver issue). If true, maybe it also causes the "failure to wakeup" issue. Some have also suggested the wake-up issue can be avoided by turning off "require password to come out of sleep mode." I have not tried this; I need security and the ability to lock my desktop. -

1. Repair Disk Permissions with Disk Utility.
2. Download 10.5.6 Combo: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1056comboupdate .html
3. Reboot, and install Combo.
4. Shutdown. Unplug all Firewire and USB connections, and iMac power cord. Wait 5mins.
5. Re-attach iMac power cord only, and reboot.
6. Optional. Run a day or so without Firewire and USB items to see if sleep allows waking after overnite sleeps.
I strongly suspect the Firewire controller is the suspect. -
Satellite P100 - No sound after sleep mode or hibernation on Windows 7
Hello everybody,
I am desperately looking for a solution for my sound problem on my PC after having browsed many forums that were talking about the same issue but without effective solutions either.
I am posting this message as I am having a Toshiba P100-488 laptop running Windows 7 64 Bits (after having upgraded the CPU) and which is using a Conexant CX20549 sound chip.
Everything is working properly and so does the sound chip thanks to a Windows 7 64 Bits driver installed but I noticed that after coming back from the sleep mode or hibernation, then sound device is still recognized in the Device Manager and shown as active in the Control Panel and the task bar but unfortunately, no sound is coming out of the speakers.
I have tried several drivers (including those of Dell and HP on some sites) but still the same problem.
Also, I have tried to update the driver from Windows Update that suggested the Conexant SmartAudio HD2 but same behaviour.
Is there any of you who would have a solution for me or perhaps a relevant driver that could solve this annoying issue ?

FredThis appears to be completely a Realtek Software (Driver) problem, that has not been fixed well over a year after the issue has been brought to public ([Toshiba Forum|http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Audio-Sound/Sound-off-after-Sleep/td-p/173036|Toshiba Forum]) notice.
When putting the laptop to sleep and waking back up in a different power state than it went to sleep in, sounds stop working.
Example: +Power plugged in, put laptop to sleep, power unplugged, wake up laptop, no sounds (and no microphone).+
A reboot fixes this. This points to a software (driver) problem & not a hardware problem.
Putting the laptop to sleep and starting up again in the same power mode that was in effect before the sound was lost is one way to avoid this happening. However this appears random, sometimes it works, more often it doesn't, and it is often inconvenient to put the laptop to sleep again when it is noticed sound is not working.
The quick fix, (workaround) that seems to work most all of the time {color:#0000FF}(_[m-267849#267849]_){color}in another post on this forum.
This is a *TEMPORARILY FIX* to this {color:#ff0000}*VERY IRRITATING LONG PENDING PROBLEM*{color} that has been {color:#ff0000}*neglected*{color} by Toshiba and Realtek.
One ends up having no choice but to believe that the management of Toshiba does not really care all that much about its customers when they leave a known problem unfixed for years. That is sad, considering Toshiba's slogan is "Leading Innovation." A broken innovation is just that, broken, and a +real+ leader does not leave its products broken. -
Does any 1 has the fix to the audio problem encountered Macbook air 2013 after updating to Mevricks? I have updated my computer with 10.9.1, but still no change, the computer looses volume when I sleep it with ear pods on. The volume returns only after reebooting.Does apple even know about this problem??? Is there any solution to this problem in near future??? It is quite frustrating now.

After sleep, audio turned on when using USB-Audio!
It seems that after the EFI update, the external USB Audio device is also on after standby and not muted as before!
I have a C-Media USB Headphone set (this means external speakers over an USB), normally muted.
After sleep it is unmuted and at full volume. (When i let it with low volume, after standby it is also at full, but the bars are displaying it as low).
Anyone same experience?UPDATE:
I decided to try going through an Firewire Audio Interface instead. Keyboard-(MIDI)->MOTU Traveler-(Firewire)->MacBook Pro.
Same corruption/hiccups/choppy playback. -

After sleep, retina MacBook Pro (Mid 2014, on 10.9.4) does not recognize usb connected mouse movement. I have tried a generic usb mouse and my Razer Deathadder usb mouse. Both mice work before sleep; but after sleep, the computer no longer recognizes mouse movement while still recognizing the mouse buttons when pressed. Any idea why this is occurring?

After sleeping MacBook Pro 15.4" mid 2012 model (running Mac OS X 10.10.2 Yosemite) for overnight and pass 24 hours time, upon wake from sleep-- the dock background is white for a few seconds and then it turns back to the normal color.
Is this normal? Should I be worried? Is my GPU defective?

Macbook Pro has no sound and needs to reboot after sleep-mode.
A few days ago, a friend of me wanted to do an hackintosh on his computer, i didn't like this idea but i helped him.. I had to install a so called program osx86 and multibeast and uniboot.. After all we didnt do the hackintosh at all but more important i removed the program and files but then suddenly my sound stopped working, i had this problem before with the red light but this was something different, at sound in my preffences there are no input or output devices not even my speakers or microphone.. After that i couldn't set the macbook in sleeping mode because it can't go back to normal anytime.. only when i hold the power button.. also when i start the MacBook i get a message that the computer restarted because of a problem every time! Please help me i don't know what to do..

Problems connecting to Monitor after waking up MacBook from sleep
Hi,
I am experiencing a lot of problems connecting my macbook pro to external monitor once I put it to sleep. I have tried every options like setting up PRAM and all, but it just wont work. Sometimes the restart works and sometimes it wont. I am using a Samsung monitor. I have no idea what to do, as I keep on clicking Detect displays and it just wont do anything. Can anybody please help me as to how I can wake up my macbook from sleep and get it connected to the monitor. I have a mac keyboard and bluetooth mouse, but neither would wake the mac. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.
5. Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
6. Repair permissions on the startup volume.
7. Turn off Bluetooth and test.
8. Reset the System Management Controller.
9. Reset the PRAM.
10. Reinstall OS X.
Updating to 10.9.2 did the trick. So I thought. Does anyone have a solution?

Macbook Pro 13 (late 2013) - external disks unmount after sleep
I've seen many other similar posts - just adding mine to the pile - wondering if anyone has seen a fix or has a recommendation
Macbook Pro 13 inch (late 2013) the Thunderbolt and firewire drives unmount when Macbook pro sleeps. (NOTE firewire drive connected via Thunderbolt display - but same happens with TB drives when connected direct to MBP)
Not a showstopper - but frustrating - fix would be nice.

PS I had a Macbook Air 2011, with no "unmount" problem when i upgraded to Mavericks.
PPS - Really enjoyed moving from MBA to MBP 13 - superior build quality, keyboard much better and display.... amazing. Weight difference neglible.Short update: After reading a while I tried several keyboard shortcuts during start up ... and I solved the issue:
Hold Command + Option + 'p' + 'r' during startup. This zaps the PRAM (Parameter RAM), an option that long-time Mac users will remember. Press and hold the key combination until you hear the second set of chimes. Zapping the PRAM returns it to its default configuration for display and video settings, time and date settings, speaker volume, and DVD region settings.

I am Streaming audio from my IPAD to my Apple TV from Rhapsody application. when Apple TV go into Screen Saver mode, about 5 minutes after that it stops playing the Audio Stream and goes into Sleep mode. I am using the Optical Out from the Apple TV to my receiver, the Apple TV is hard Wired to the Network, the IPAD is Wirelessly attached to the network (it continues to play the Audio Stream). When the Apple TV is turned back on it resumes playing once I manual select it for output from the IPAD. All device are on current releases of software. I have no Video hooked up to the Apple TV. How do I correct this?
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.
