Need help. VERY low audio with Tivo series 2 and Fios

I just had Fios installed and want to use my Tivo Series 2 DVR. However, the audio can barely be heard. Any advice?
Here is my setup
1. Motorola set top digital box with HDMI output to Television. Everything is Excellent
2. Motorola set top box S video output to Tivo. Red and white AV to Tivo audio input.
In this setup, my standard def channels have excellent picture, but the volume is just way to low.
I have run the Tivo setup procedures.
When I try running Coax from the set top box to Tivo, I get NOTHING. No audio or video.
Is the motorola incapable of putting out enough audio via AV when HDMI is also connected?

Keyboards:
The motorola is connected simultaneously to TV via the HDMI output, and to my TIVO, via S Video and AV outputs.
When the TV source is set to HDMI, all is perfect (in fact, stunning). Great sound.
When I change the TV to receive S Video from the Tivo, I receive an excellent standard def picture, but audio that I have to crank up to full scale.
I have not tried Motorola to Tivo alone, with no HDMI connection to the TV.
I do think your idea to use a second box (a simple SD digital converter) to hook up to the Tivo makes great sense. If I split the feed, sending one to the HD settop box, and another to Tivo, then I get the best of both worlds. I will get HD from the motorola, and can separately record on the Tivo.
I am still a bit concerned about audio volume, although the Tivo boards seem to say that Tivo works well with Fios.

X230T - No audio through Ultrabase Series 3

Hi,
I have a ThinkPad Ultrabase Series 3 that I have used for the past 12 months with my X220T. I have purchased an X230T now and placed in to the same Ultrabase Series 3. Everything seems to work EXCEPT I don't get any audio through the speaker out port in the docking station. Has anyone else had this problem or can anyone let me know if it works on their setup?

Cap3: Edit Audio Timing display's thumbnail is too small

Hello ... Regarding Captivate 3 ...
I'm trying to time my voice-over audio to a series of
application scenario slides using the Edit Audio Timing display,
but am finding it extremely difficult because the small changes in
my slides (radio button selections, text input, dropmenu
selections, etc.) are too small to detect on the miniscule
thumbnail used in the display.
Is this poor interface design, or is there a setting
somewhere that allows me to increase the size of the thumbnail?
I've looked around, but can't find one. How do you handle syncing
audio to stretches of small screen changes?

I won't argue as to whether this is good, bad or indifferent
interface design. But it is what it is and as far as I know it
cannot be changed. At first I thought perhaps we might see a change
if right-clicking the image and choosing "Zoom in". But all that
does is zooms in on the waveform.
This doesn't help any, but you may wish to make the
development staff aware that you would like to see the behavior
change in a future version. You may do this by
clicking
here and completing the form you should find there.

M-Audio 61ES not playing nicely with Logic Pro X!

The 61ES has been doing some really wacky things: I opened it up out of the box for the first time last night and right off the bat the middle octave of notes on the controller were very quiet compared to the high and low notes on the board. It was like the velocity wasn't working properly on those keys or something. The sounds worked fine in Logic when I pencilled them in. But I was too tired to mess around with it more, so went to bed and figured I'd deal with it in the morning. So this morning, the middle octave of keys seems fine, but the middle G just won't play at all. And many of the notes aren't tracking, or playing- especially during fast passages.
I pulled up Pro Tools 10 and the 61ES worked fine. So something is going on between the controller and Logic. Anyone have any ideas?
I'm running it on a MacBook Pro with 10.8.5. And the latest version of Logic Pro X- 10.0.6. Thanks for any advice!

Two problems with audio clips

Hello,
I'm having two problems with audio clips:
1. When I try to drag a clip from the viewer, I can't do it because it won't let me drag the clip. It only lets me drag the pointer around within the clip.
2. When I drag an audio clip from the browser into the timeline I don't get any audio, just a series of beeps (and yes, my audio media is on-line -- I can listen to it in the viewer, just not the timeline).
What am I doing wrong?

properties of the source audio you're putting in it,
and you either need to change the settings in the

Master On/Off Audio Button for Multiple swfs

I need to create a “master” On/Off Audio Button
that will control audio for a series of swfs loaded into a
“master” swf. Each loaded swf will have a Media Display
or FLV Playback MP3 progressive audio file supplying audio with cue
points for that imported swf.
What ActionScript would work for a “master”
On/Off Audio Button in the main swf that would control audio for
all of the loaded swfs so a setting in the “master” swf
would effect all loaded swfs without the user needing to reset the
On/Off Audio Button for each swf?

Use an array to store the names for each of the sound/video
objects and then cycle through them and shut each off.

Workaround for playing audio under several slides

There is a workaround (albeit a bit clumsy) for playing audio tracks under a series of slides throughout a presentation. Divide the slideshow into individual slideshow segments (A, B, C, D, etc.) and whenever you need to play audio under a series of slides, create this series as a separate segment, with the audio track running as the "soundtrack." Then, you can link each segment to the next via a "hyperlink."
BEWARE, however, that although the audio will play throughout the segment, you still must do all of your Builds and Transitions manually (or automatically) because they will NOT playback with the "automation" feature of a "recorded" soundtrack presentation.
You also will not be able to play (or preview) any "recorded" slideshow from anywhere but the beginning.
I said it was cumbersome, but it does work ... sort of ...

How do i get stereo audio in archives

when i archive from camcorder and download from camera i only get audio in mono. When i directly import video from camcorder i get the audio in stereo. I use a canon xl1, with firewire. It's a DV camcorder using mini-dv tape. No problem except when archiving..and then extracting files into final cut pro x events. What gives wih this!!!

Have you tried shooting without the Audio-Technica 1800 series dual wireless audio system connected to your camera to see if the results within iMovie are the same as when you are using said mic? It's very possible there may be a very slight delay in your audio mic/system. So disconnect these mics and try a short clip within iMovie (no mics attached) to see if you still produce identical results. This will help us isolate the audio issue.
It may be very possible that you need a beefier video editing app like FCP/FCE when dealing with your current camera and audio configuration should you wish to continue using the current wireless audio system on your camera.

Audio book plays on PC but not on my iPod

I've downloaded a lot of audio books to my 20g Photo iPod and all have played without a problem, until today. My latest download will play on my desktop computer, but on the iPod when I select the book the iPod sequences through the segments 1,2,3, and 4 then returns to "music". I deleted the first download from the iPod and redownloaded it from iTunes and it still will not play on the iPod. Any ideas.

You might check that the entire file has been copied to your ipod. You can get the size of the audio file by
1) Select your ipod from the "devices" list in itunes.
2) Tick the "manually manage music" check box in the summary tab.
3) Find the audiobook file on your ipod and right click or control click depending on whether you are using windows or mac.
4) Check the size of the file and compare with the size in itunes.
Should you find anything odd perhaps copy across manually, though I think it unlikely that you will.
Alternatively, I have found that if I record audio as a series of shorter files and tag them as "books and spoken" in itunes they end up as "audiobooks". These files are all numbered sequentially but for some reason will not play sequentially on my ipod unless I create a playlist. However the first file will play without doing that. This appears different to your situation but you might want to try creating a playlist with your audiobook files.

Smart Build Separate Timings not working

I've created a smart build within one slide to fade one photograph to the next. (This is the only way I can see to get an audio track embedded into a series of images). It has a checkbox to use separate timings for each segment of the build. I checked it and sure enough all of the images now show as separate items in the drawer. When I uncheck it, they all become one build and it shows that the timing for image 1 is to be applied to all the other images. That's all great.
However, when I DO use the separate timings option and I change the timing for any one image, it applies for all the other images. In other words - it isn't working. Anyone else see this. Anyone have a fix?

Ideally what I want to do is be able to click through each image rather than set a delay for each element of the build. Sometimes I need to speed through this section of the presentation and other times I can go slowly through it. So, I need to be able to set each element to advance on click. Then I want to have each dissolve be a different duration. Some dissolves look better with a 2 second dissolve and others with a 5 second dissolve.
Just spoke to Apple, they say that it is not designed to be able to set different durations for the different elements of a smart build. The separate timings checkbox only refers to how long an image stays on screen before the next image comes up.
Of course this would all be a mute point if Apple would just add the ability to play audio across a series of slides within a show.

How to delete a clip?

...without deleting all sorts of other unrelated stuff.
Know this falls somewhere in the realm of FCPX now using connected clips, storylines, etc... versus tracks, but haven't found a way to do this simple form of edit yet. I'm going to describe this using "tracks" even though that's the wrong terminology.
One video track, one audio track.
Video track consists of several clips, audio track consists of several tracks.
I simply want to delete one of the video clips, and close the gap where that clip was.
When I do this, it removes a clip or two of the audio as well, and shifts everything else in the timeline.

That accurately describes the symptom I'm trying to avoid ... the audio downstream shifts to close the gap. Problem is, that audio is a series of narration clips & it simply deletes a portion of the narration.

Clip I want to delete is bordered in yellow. All the audio above needs to remain as it is, unchanged, untouched. (Would simply lock those "tracks" in previous FCP versions). Would like video downstream to shift forward & close the gap:
Tried "lift from storyline" and can delete the clip, but it inserts a black plug. Deleting this causes all the same problems as deleting the clip itself.
This is what it looks like after the clip is deleted. Everything downstream shifts forward, just as you indicated.
I need the video to shift forward, but the audio to remain untouched.

Basic recording/feedback question

I'm recording basic vocals against accompaniment tracks using an APOGEE ONE and Audio-Technica 40 series AT8449 condenser mic. I use only headphones, no external speakers.
If I record with "monitoring" on I constantly battle feedback/distortion, especially on songs with a wide dynamic range. When the feedback protection kicks in the message indicates that I'm getting feedback through my external speakers (which I don't have), I can minimize the problem by turning "monitoring" off but I lose the reference vocal. I know I must be overlooking something very simple. Any help is appreciated.

G5 sonud system

i dont know if my quad support 5.1 sound system, with out add any sound card.
rigth know iam using a logitech 5.1, but only the green cable (two speaker and bass)
my question is there is sound adapter 2.1 to 5.1
a single male adapter with 3 female hole (green, black, orange)

That system is an analog 5.1 system, whereas the G5 uses digital optical outputs to send 5.1 data to a receiver which does the decoding. The speaker system you have needs the computer to do the decoding and then send the audio signal to the speakers.
To use that speaker system with a G5, you'd have to get an add-in card that could do the surround sound decoding and then would send the audio signal through the analog outputs. I don't know of anyone making this type of card for your system. M-Audio's Revolution series (all of their cards, actually) is incompatible with a PCI-Express equipped PowerMac like the Quad.
Another option would be to buy the adapter that Logitech offers for using with gaming systems that only have stereo sources. You'd have to use the line-out jack on the G5 and would not be getting surround sound.
Or, you need to replace your speaker system with one that has digital optical inputs. Logitech's Z-5500 and Z-5450 have this capability.
