Audio on Keynote 6.5

Hi,
I have been trying to add on a presentation 102 slides an audio directly from the application (record slideshow), the problem is that it takes me 10 minutes to record what I have to say but passed 6 or 7 slides I am not able to hear what I recorded!!
Any assistance would be more than welcome as I also tried to record the audio separately on mi iPhone and then add it to the presentation but I have the same problem or something very similar, the problem persists even after exporting it to Quicktime.
Thanks in advance for your assistance!!
Daniel,

Thanks to Red Viking here is the remedy to recording that you no longer hear after 30 seconds!
"There is a bug in Keynote's new single file format in 6.5. If you change the file to the old file format, the audio won't cut off after 30 seconds (the previously recorded audio is all still there, you won't have lost anything!). To do so, click on File > Advanced > Change File Type > Package".

  • Need to play Power Point Presentation with Audio in Keynote

My wife and I have lots of Power Point slide shows with audio from the days when we were windows users. We have downloaded a trial version of iWork 09 and would like to know how we can play these .pps files that contain audio in Keynote.
We appreciate any help that anyone could provide as we would much prefer to use Keynote/iWork than MS Office.

That's interesting about NeoOffice. I keep a copy of it up to date but don't use it too often.
This may be too involved for the OP but I would play the file in NeoOffice and record the audio with WIreTap or similar, export it as an MP3 file and then import it into Keynote.
WIreTap can have its input source set to Mac Audio so that it will record from any application that is capable of producing sound.

Hi - also new to the forums - I am trying to do the following:
I have a slideshow with slides of people, then a slide with a video of someone talking about the person, then more slides, etc... I want to have my playlist play then pause (or fade) so that it does not conflict with the audio from the video clip when it (automatic slide show) transitions to the slide with the video - can I do this and if so how?

  • How to add audio to keynote on iPad

I want to add audio to a presentation on keynote but I don't know how? There isn't an option to add audio in the media section.

    Hello Cami231100,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
It looks like you will have to add the audio in Keynote on your computer, then import the project to your device from iTunes.
Keynote for iOS (iPad): Animate objects on a slide
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3486?viewlocale=en_US
You can also include music and sound effects in your presentation by placing an audio file onto a slide. To add an audio file to your presentation, you must first import a presentation that contains the audio file you want to use, and then copy and paste the audio file to any slide or presentation on your iPad.
This article will help you get the project to your computer, so you can add the audio, and will help you get the project back to the iPad.

  • I am having trouble re-recording audio inside Keynote

I recorded audio inside Keynote, but then added a few slides.  I can't for the life of me figure out how to erase the audio and re-record the presentation.
Also, I don't seem to be able to re-record each Keynote slide independently.  I need to export this all as a playable Quicktime movie.
    My issues:
    1)  It will not let me Clear the recording
    2)  It will keep the old recording if I try to record over it (Record Slideshow) under Play --> Record Slideshow
    3)  I try to use Audio section to the R of the slide and Record and it will not let me record.
I have concluded there is a bug in Keynote, but am I missing anything?  I need this for work to put on our company's website.  How can I get help to resolve this?  I thought about trying to import the presentation to another computer with Keynote but otherwise I am out of ideas...
    Thanks!

Which version of Keynote are you using ( Keynote > About Keynore)
To clear the recording in versions 5 to 6.5:     Inspector > Document > Audio then click the Clear button
Once the recording is cleared you can re-record a voice over.

  • No Audio on Keynote exported to iDVD in quicktime

I am at my wits end with this! I just got this mac in May so bear with me (recently converted PC-er). This is my problem, in a nutshell:
    1) I created a keynote presentation
    2) I created a soundtrack for it in Garageband (blending two songs together to play out nicely over it) and then placed it in the document. It worked fine.
    3) I exported the keynote presentation (making sure to include audio) to quicktime and put it on my desktop
    4) In the meantime I had created an iDVD project to place this presentation in...everything is working fine audio wise on the menus
    5) I dropped the presentation into the project--it encoded, I previewed it to make sure it worked, it did.
    6) I burned it onto a dvd
    7) tested it this morning by putting it in my dvd player at home and the movie plays, but there is no sound! Help!
Interesting things that might be significant
    1) when i exported the keynote to quicktime and saved it on my desktop--it actually created two icons-one of the movie (that played the movie w/the soundtrack) and one that looks like it was just the soundtrack. Is that significant?
    2) the tracks I used to make the garage band mix were purchased from iTunes but to make sure I didn't run into any DRM issues I burned them onto a disc and then re-imported them-making sure to use the 'burned' songs in my mix.
I am trying to get this ready to show for a presentation on Saturday and it's getting down to the wire.
thank you in advance for your help.

Thanks for the link, it looks like this is just a bug in b/w Keynote and Quicktime and I'd need to upgrade to Quicktime Pro in order to make it work--that's not an option for me right now so instead I took the slides from Keynote, imported them as an album to iPhoto and tried to send it as a slideshow to iDVD, but that made the video jumpy (although I did have my soundtrack). My final solution was to take the slides from iPhoto, drop them into iMovie, add transitions b/w each slide to emulate the feel I was going for--and adding my soundtrack there. I exported it to my desktop and then dropped it into iDVD. It works great. I am disappointed that I could not have the builds in the slides that I wanted-but this current state works.
I wish I'd just started with iMovie. Next time I definitely will!

I opened directly from my email on my Apple laptop.  I opened it using Keynote from PowerPoint file.  How do I change it and insert anything?  It just did not have audio output.  Period.
BTW, I did the same thing on any PC.  Voila!  No problem.  PowerPoint on PC works like a charm.  I am not happy with Keynote that I thought would take care of my PowerPoint files from my Macbook pro.  What else could I do?  Hopefully, Apple will update to solve this audio music problem of PowerPoint in the near future.  Only Apple authority could help me.
I wonder if I could write my feedback from the Keynote purchased ($9.99).  It wasted my dollars.  Maybe I can have refund.

  • Audio on keynote exported quicktime videos cuts out at 50 seconds?

It just started!  When I export my keynote into a Quicktime file, the audio cuts out at 50 seconds.  I have been creating videos a long time with this method and never had problems before.

I am willing to share files with Apple. Mine are copyrighted, but are shareable.
But here's a wrinkle on the problem that puts me a little more in sympathy with Apple engineers, since they may well not have encountered the subtle environments we have that is generating this audio problem.
I was having the same problem you are for several days after I upgraded to Keynote 6.5 and Yosemite 10.10 (running on a mid-2011 MBA). I duplicated a keynote file with audio recorded that cut out after 50 seconds or so: audio stopped on slide 2 even though I had recorded and saved the whole 50 minute presentation. I store my keynote presentations along with Quicktime movies (m4v) and downsampled mp4 files in a sparsebundled disk image. I created a new, larger disk image yesterday because I was running out of storage space. To do that, I copied all the files in the sparsebundle to a temporary folder on a backup drive (My Mac Book Air is running out of storage space). Then, I deleted the old sparse bundle, created the new one, and copied all the files back.
After reading your latest post, I thought I would try again. I opened my test Keynote file, now copied to the new sparse bundle, and the audio works! I can hear the audio in the Keynote file when I "Play Recorded Slideshow" from the Play menu. I also exported to a Quicktime m4v movie and the audio is all there. The Keynote file size didn't change during all this: still 36.8MB, which is typical for the audio recorded ones. I start with a 2 to 4MB presentation of 15-20 slides, record audio, and the file size increases to 35-40MB. Then the Quicktime m4v is typical 200-300MB. This one is: 239.4MB.
So, although the bug is not squashed, take heart and don't delete those files! Your audio may actually be in there somewhere.

  • Adding audio to keynote

Hi I am new to keynote and was trying to make a slideshow and i don't know how to add audio
i know you can drag a mp3 to one page but then when i click to go to the next page the song stops
and if i add a soundtrack then when i export it there is the slideshow with no music and the soundtrack in a different fonder
please help me all i want to do it make it so through out the whole slideshow there is music
    thanks.

With the first slide open, you open the Document Inspector, click on Audio, drag the soundtrack to the empty box and click on Play. You can also choose Play once or Loop. MY problem now is how to stop it =).

  • How to control audio in keynote?

    - Adjusting the size of the icon does not create a controller.  The on and off with a click created by build is not there when I make it a quicktime movie. Also I want to create more than one audio example on a keynote panel with controllers for each?  OR visable placeable icons?  Help.  Thanks.

    Hello Edward,
Thank you - but this does not seem to quite match what I am looking to do.
I have created a presentation where there are pictures of musical instruments. I then have two musical examples of the instruments playing - mp3s.  When bounced to quicktime right now the only ting I can do is click to start - wait till it's over, click to start the next one, wait till its over.  It responds to the wheel on my mouse but nothing else - I cannot stop by clicking or choose which one to listen to.
On the net someone said you could create a controller by making the icon bigger.  This does not work.  Do a stop audio in the build does not work in terms of stopping the audio.
Having a controller slide with controls would be nice, but even being able to play the audio by pressing a picture would be an improvement.  It is surprisingly limited at present.
    I appreciate your time.

  • Video plays with no audio in Keynote

[FOLKS: please disregard this question. I couldn't find the answer I needed when I searched which is why I posted. However, after posting, the "related questions" actually had one that fixed it. For future reference, it's this one. Thanks anyway.]
I have a new iPad2 and just got Keynote. My main desktop is a PC. I moved a Powerpoint file over to the iPad, but the movies wouldn't play because they were WMV files.
OK, so I used Handbrake to convert them to M4V, and imported them on the iPad. Great so far.
I go to "Media/ipad movies" and the videos are there. If I play them in the preview mode, they work fine. But when I actually stick one in a slide in the presentaion itself, it plays fine, but there's no sound!
I thought it might be something I did in converting, but since it plays in preview, I'm baffled. Any ideas? Thanks!

Found the answer elsewhere and it worked for me!
I had this same problem and this resolved it for me:
-Go to your "Settings" icon and click on the "General" tab.
-About 2/3 way down the page you will see "Use side switch to:" - make sure "mute" is checked rather than "lock rotation."
-Then make sure the side switch, located next to the volume toggle switch on the side of your ipad, is moved to the right (no red dot showing).
My audio worked fine in embedded videos after I did those two things.  Hope it works for you.

  • How do I normalize the audio in keynote?

I have created video in keynote with audio files on each slide.  The audio on each slide have slightly different volumes.  I would like to export the keynote presentation to video with a consistent audio volume, is there a way to do this without importing it into imovie, or some other video editting program?  I would prefer not to import it in imovie because it degrades the color, sound and recrops the original video created by keynote.

This was a great suggestion and it solved my issue although I wish there was something natively, I am so grateful for this suggestion.  Here is my process for correcting the audio for anyone that may be looking for a way to normalize their audio clips:
First I changed the file extension for my keynote presentation and changed it to .zip
This changes your keynote presentation into a normal compressed folder.
I then copied all the audio files that were stored in my presentation folder and converted them to AIFF (Levelator only normalizes WAV and AIFF files) and dragged them into "Levelator"s conversion window.  Levelator batch normalizes and compresses your files and outputs them with a new file extension once converted.  (There isn't any editting options here Levelator seems to normalize and compress to a preset level, simple!)
After the files were converted I changed the file extension and name back to the original file extension and name that was in the original keynote folder and replaced the original keynote audio files with the newly converted ones from Levelator.
This lets you replace your existing audio files in your presentation and keep the timings and settings you already have.

  • Audio File & Keynote Issue

    Hi guys,
I have an interview mp3 file I want to synch with my Keynote presentation.
I'm not exactly sure how this can be accomplished.
The help instructions are not helpful at trying to figure this out.
Any ideas on how to accomlpish this while I can transition from slide to slide as well in the process?
    Much thanks!
    Steve

First, I have to say that "synching" any audio to a Keynote presentation is an "iffy" thing at best. Because Keynote does not treat audio files in an appropriate manner, you may find that longer tracks and presentations will drift out of synch.
That said, here is how you can try to accomplish what you want to do:
    1) Create your slideshow presentation as you want to see it appear on the screen. It is best if you can manage all Builds manually by a Click. If you want them to be Automatic, you will have to "time" them to fit the audio track.
    2) Then, in the Inspector>Document menu, select Audio
    3) Drag the MP3 audio file into the Soundtrack window (or navigate to it and select it)
    4) Record your soundtrack:
    4.1) Click the "Record" button
4.2) As the soundtrack progresses, CLICK to advance your Builds and Transitions in synch with the audio track. If you make a mistake, you will have to stop, Clear the Recording, and start again.
When finished, check your presentation to see if everything is OK. If you are playing it as a "stand-alone" it should replay just as you Recorded it. However, if you are playing it via a "hyperlink" it will NOT play anything that was initiated with a Click; you will still have to perform these manually during playback.
Also, be aware that the speed of the processor of the computer that plays the presentation will control the duration of all Builds and Transitions, so it is best to use this machine when you create your presentation and Record your Soundtrack. At the least, confirm your presentation on this machine before going public. Otherwise, it is almost guaranteed that things will drift out of sync fairly quickly.
Until the many complaints expressed in this Forum (and to the Apple Keynote Feedback site) regarding how poorly audio is implemented in Keynote, we all will have to do our best to work-around these shortcomings.
    Good luck.

  • Audio in keynote

I'm having the damndest problem!  I have a video I incorporated into keynote -- the video will play but there's no audio.
Now, this worked previously, but then I tweaked the video, reattached it, and it doesn't play.  This seems to happen as a result of Keynote compressing it when I choose it from the media menu.  In that menu, the audio plays perfectly, but once the video is brought it - nothing.
I'm stumped -- can someone shed some light on this?
    thanks!

I FIXED IT -- AND HERE IS HOW:
In the General Settings menu, if the Slide Switch is set to Lock Rotation -- (my) audio won't play with the video.  When I set it back to MUTE, then it worked.
    What the $^@#$%??
Anyway - I hope this helps some other poor schmuck who falls into this pit.

  • Add audio to keynote?

Is it possible to add audio to a Keynote presentation?

    Yes.
You can add audio files directly from the finder or use the Media Browser in Keynote and click on the audio tab - that will give you access to your iTunes library.
Audio files can be added to an individual slide as an audio object - this allow you to control when the audio starts and also allows more than one audio file on the slide (like sound effects, etc) that can be activated through the Builder Inspector. The length of the audio file can be adjusted using the Quicktime Inspector.
Another way to add audio is to have a background soundtrack that plays across multiple slides. Only one audio soundtrack can be used per presentation file. The audio is placed in the Audio Well of the Document Inspector > Audio tab.
Information about how to use audio as well as types of audio that work with Keynote can be found in the Keynote '09 User Guide available from the Keynote Help Menu (hint: you can download the file as a PDF for future reading).
    Good Luck.
