Audio on MTS-files from Sony Nex 5

Hi. After upgrading the raw-file, finally video playback from files filmed with this camera is back, but the playback is still silent.... Anyone lese with this issue ?

I would like to do this without any conversion. The program plays back the video, so audio should then follow.

LOG AND TRANSFER.  I have the full workflow here:
    http://library.creativecow.net/ross_shane/tapeless-workflow_fcp-7/1
Make sure you are running FCP 7.0.3.  That version deals with files from the NX5 the best.  If you are on a previous version, like FCP 6....you will need to use CLIPWRAP2 from Divergentmedia.com.  As the specific AVCHD format the NX5 uses is something that FCP 6 cannot really deal with.
    Gotta love new camera formats.

  • MTS files from Sony slow processing

I am having a lot of trouble processing .MTS files from a Sony NXCam.
I do not know what th settings were when the video was shot.
I put an hour of these video files (00000.MTS,00001.MTS, and 00002.MTS) on the PP timeline.
I tried ot export the video to any format and the estimated time was 5-7 hours.
I am not sure which Sequence type to use.

I have no idea if the change of the file extension (.MTS to .m2ts) has something to do with a change of footage (codec). Don’t think so..
I just have imported directly (w/o the Sony software) some footage from the Memory card of the cam into PP ( .MTS).
    Works also fine;
1 minute of footage is exported as "match sequence setting" in 1 minute.
Export as MPEG2 HDTV in 1 minute.
Export as .avi in 40 seconds.
Please check your sequence and export settings.
I have also tested a (wrong) sequence setting "anamorphic" while my footage is not, and then the export is much longer!
Please select a file and check under Metadata the video Info:
    1920 x 1080 (1,0) use AVCHD 1080i square pixel as sequence setting.
    1920 x 1080 (1.333) use AVCHD 1080i (1.333) = anamorphic as sequence setting.
I may mail you the Sony Software, but it installs only with the camcorder connected, will not help.
Otherwise follow the advices about Benchmark.

  • I can not import 60p files from Sony NEX-FS100U to Final Cut Pro X.

I can not import 60p files from my Sony NEX-FS100U to Final Cut Pro 10.0.1.  Does Sony offer a plug in?

I shoot fishing footage of big catches.  Slow motion playback appears to me to be much better when shot it 60p even compared to 60i.  It also blows away all of the other formats for a "still" grab.  Thank you for your help as I did a search and downloaded Clip Wrap which converted the files to .mov and they actually do import the full 60 frames.  Thank you again for your reply.

  • Why Poor DVD quality Encore CS6 with Sony FS100 MTS files from PPro CS6

I am using PPro CS6 on a MAC Pro Quad zenon with Boot Camp. On PC side I was using PPro CS6 & Encore CS6 with MTS files from  Sony NX 5U with NO Problems.
I just started using a Sony FS100 recording 1080i (60) format MTS files. When I Dynamic Link to Encore, the quality of the image is very soft compare to image from previous
projects with MTS files from Sony NX 5U.When I open a previous NX5U project, it still displays and creates an excellant dvd.Need help in solving problem.

Thanks for the advice. I tryed your method with same results.
I then tried changing project quality settings with somewhat better results
    but not good enough results.
I looked at some of my previous dvds that used mts files from my Sony NX5U
and the quality was much better
that any results I am having using the Sony FS100 mts files. Even still
pictures do not look good now in Encore.
I then tried using Roxio Creator 10 Pro to make a dvd.
The results were excellant! Video files and stills are great.
I noticed that Encore CS6 is using the "Main Concept" codec to transcode.
Has something changed in the basic
settings with my Encore and can I reset my Encore to original defaults???
Any advice would be welcomed...Thanks again.

Does it not play at all or cannot you get the audio in the timeline?
Did you copy the entire card to the hdd and then imported the file via the Media Browser?
Did you source patch the audio tracks?

  • FCPX 10.1.3 something wrong with audio in .MTS file

    Hi,
I've just update from FCPX 10.1.1 to 10.1.3.
I've reported something wrong when i import .MTS files (from my Sony VG30). There are lot of audio paradise. If i listen to the file on another computer there are no problem, but when it was imported in FCPX, it appears. Also with optimised and proxy files.
If i export a project, the parasite still present.
If i first rewrap the .MTS files with ClipWrap, then the file imported in FCPX don't have any problem.
For sure, i don't have that kind of problem in FCPX 10.1.1
Some other user with that ?

Yep, i know that method is better, anyway i can't always do that cause i also received directly .MTS file and not the physical SD Card, or should backup the files on a server before import it on my Mac and start the new project.
I've checkup an imported file i've made with 10.1.1 and played in 10.1.3 and there aren't any bug files, so it's seems to be linked to 10.1.2 or 10.1.3 update : (

  • I am not being able to play sound when I import a .MTS file from my folder

I am not being able to play sound when I import a .MTS file from my folder on my sequence bar of my Premiere Pro CS6. Even if I use my Media Browser to import the file, the video plays fine, but the audio is disabled it seems. I don't know what to do since I have used .MTS files before without hassle on CS5.5. It is quite frustrating. What can I do?

    Hi debesh05,
Please mention the Operating System that you are using and also make and model of the Camera that was used to capture those clips. Also, try to make another folder with the same name in the same location where the .MTS files are and move all the clips into the new folder and then try to import the files again using Media Browser in Premiere Pro CS6. If this doesn't work then make a copy of one file and rename it as .M2TS and then import that single file into Premiere Pro CS6. Please update if either of the solution works for you.
    Regards,
    Vinay

  • Mountain Lion won't display .MTS files from camera SD card in the finder

OS Mountain Lion will not show .MTS files from my camera SD card in the finder.
I don't want to play them. I just need to see a list of the files so that I can copy them off the card onto a hard drive. I know how to convert them.
I have a Panasonic High Def video camera that records .MTS files.
I understand how to convert MTS files for editing in Final Cut Pro. It is not a problem. I have  been doing this with no problems using OS 10.7.5
I plug in my camera, and the SD card shows up as a hard drive in my finder. I click on the hard drive icon and it opens several folders. DCIM, MISC, PRIVATE.
I click on the PRIVATE folder and subfolders open. I click on the AVCHD folder, and then go down to STREAMING, and there are the MTS files.  I select them and import them into BIGASOFT video converter and convert them to .MOV files, which I can edit in FCP.
So that works great in OS 10.7.5
    Here is my problem:
On my new MacBook Pro with OS10.8.3 I plug in the camera. It reads the SD card.
I see the folder DCIM and I see the folder MISC. But the PRIVATE folder (where the .MTS files reside) shows up as a QuickTime icon.  I click on that, but the MTS files do not show up.
I don’t need to play the MTS files. I don’t need to know how to convert them. I can do that.
I right clicked on the PRIVATE (not folder but QT icon) and selected "show package contents." That gave me another list, with an icon for AVCHD, but when I right clicked again and selected "show package contents" the MTS files would not appear.
I just need to be able to see as a list and copy them on to a hard drive.  Why does Apple make this so hard?

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS TO RECOGNIZE AND IMPORT MTS FILES. (No help from Apple.)
After 4 frustrating hours and about 40 useless minutes wasted on Apple Support chat, I figured this out.
Okay, here are the steps to allow Mountain Lion to see your MTS files on a Panasonic camera SD card and import them:
Click on your camera SD card.
RIGHT Click on PRIVATE icon. (This used to be a folder, now it is a Quicktime logo.)
Pull down command for “Show Package Contents”
    Click on AVCHD
Pull down command for “Show Package Contents”
    Click on BDMV
Pull down command for “Show Package Contents”
    Open the folder called STREAM
There are your MTS files. Select them and copy them to a folder on your hard drive.
Purchase some type of video converter (I paid 30 bucks for Bigasoft Converter and it works.)
Import the MTS files into the video converter and set the commands (This is several more steps, which you will have to figure out.) This will take quite a while for large, High Def files.
Save converted files to your hard drive.
NOW, finally FCP X will let you import and edit your files.
Thanks Apple for adding 12 steps where it should take one. “Log and Transfer” or IMPORT.  You should fix this.
It took me about 4 hours of frustration to figure this out. Apple support chat service was no help at all. The girl in chat had no understanding of video files.
Thank you Apple, for hiding these files behind your Quicktime logo, thanks for adding extra steps and decreasing productivity. I've been using Macintosh computers since 1987. I would not own a PC, but Apple is not what it used to be. Why would you not just let the .MTS files show without hiding them?

  • Wrong settings when create a sequence from an AVCHD (.mts) file from canon xa20. Adobe premiere sets as AVC-intra 100 1080i

I don't know why Adobe premiere CC automatically adjust an .mts file from my canon XA20 (AVCHD based on h264 1920x1080 25p) like an AVC-intra 100 1080i. While editing it appears crispy and noisy. Im editing in a windows 7 64 bits plattform. Must I install de properly codec on my machine ¿?
    Any suggestion ¿?

Yes it does that. AVCintra is just a name for a preset. Set the preview codec to i frame mpeg only
And no, dont install any codec.
You can alsway select a AVCHD preset from the list.

  • How do I  open photo files from Sony A7 and Nikon 7000?

I am currently using CS5 Extended but can not open files from Sony A7 camera I just bought. Do I need to upgrade to CS6 where I can use camera raw 8.3 ?
With CS6 can I still open files from my Nikon 7000 in format of DNG? Please advise.
    YAYAFORMPC

The Nikon needs ACR 6.3 (which needs CS6 or CC) but I can't see the Sony on this list

Either I missed it, or it's a new camera that is not yet supported.

  • Need help with managing .mts files from Canon XA-10

I capture a lot of lectures and other long events.  As such, I need to import my files and then put them into the Premiere Pro CC timeline in order but when I do, it looks like they're skipping a frame when arranged chronologically.  Usually I find the footage on the camera through the Media Browser and then bring that one big file into the timeline and export it that way.  This process takes FOREVER.  I'd prefer to be able to copy the individual 2GB .mts files and add them to my timeline.  Any ideas or solutions out there?

Ok, so, perhaps explaining my workflow in detail would help better address my problem:
    1. record lecture, let's say 1 hour
That will make around 5 2GB .mts files on the Canon XA-10 Built-in Memory(64GB)
    2. connect camera via USB 3.0 port to computer and create a new PP project for this lecture
    3. through the Media Browser tab, I locate the file on the camera and drop it into the timeline of the new project
    4. wait for the file to conform(depending on the length of the file, could take many minutes, sometimes an hour)
    5. after conforming, I export the file in it's entirety to it's appropriate project folder on the computer(this will take at least as long as the file length, most times longer).  On the export screen, I check the box to import file into project upon completion.
As you can see, importing my tapeless assets from the camera can take up to an hour and a half, sometimes longer, before I am able to start editing them.  Obviously, when I simply copy the 2GB .mts files from the camera to a project folder through Finder or Windows Explorer, it takes a considerably less amount of time.  The problem I then encounter is that when I then try to place them into the PP project timeline as individual files, they appear to skip frames at their edit points, or about every 11.5 minutes.  I just tired JSS1138's idea and I get the same problem as before.

    ps
i got a backup for the files but even if they are on the mmc, when camera is connected fcpx doesn't see them. if i try to import a new shoot it works!!

Thx a lot Salty. As you suggest I found other staff on support pages. I deleted AVCHD structure and kept only .mts... Now what I need to do is to convert those files with handbrake or similar tool in .mp4 or .mov to make them digest to FCPX.
