Audio on the iPod Touch Hissing.

Hey Guys & Gals
Has anybody else noticed that when they plug in their headphones into the iPod Touch that they start to hear a continuos hissing sound.
This then also becomes apparent during some songs.
Try it by putting in your headphones whilst they are not plugged in... then plugging them in. Do this is a silent environment and you may notice the issue.
Is this something that apple knows about and can solve in a future update?

Put me in this boat, too. I'm on my THIRD touch, the first one had 4 dead pixels, and the second one had a terrible hissing problem (really noticeable with good quality headphones, which are sold directly as a recommended accessory BY Apple). I've just spent 30 minutes on hold with Apple and they said they'll "Look into it."
I"ve tried three different pairs of headphones with two different iPod touches, and both iPods and all headphones exhibited this really annoying hissing problem.
Apple really needs to fix this. This is in-excuseable for a $400 music player.

What the iPod touch really needs.

So I may have missed a thread on this... But does it not seem logical that what the the iPod touch really needs bluetooth. I could care less about using bluetooth for audio, synking or anything else but 1 thing...
Given that the iPhone is locked into AT&T wouldn't a bluetooth enabled pone allow you to use bluetooth's networking abilities to share you cell phones data plan? Granted some wireless providers (cough*verizon*cough) cripple there phones and disable this feature. but it would be at least an option to some people.

The ipod touch does not support bluetooth nor does it have bluetooth built into the device. THere are bluetooth adapters that you might use for like headphones but nothing like data transfer and what you mention. If this is a feature you would like on a future ipod then leave your feedback at the link below.

Have you contacted the dock manufacturer?
The adopter supports audio if the dock manufacturer says the dock supports the 5G iPod.
It may be that the dock does not work with iOS 6.x vie the 5G. Sometimes an iOS update will break compatibility.

The way I did it was I got the free app sync:stream from the App Store and then added my ipod to my ps3's Bluetooth devices. Then went to audio settings and set output and input to 'Skaggs iPod' you then open the app and it will be listed under music as a media service. You then go to all tracks and click copy (press triangle) it will then begin to copy all of your songs onto your ps3 via Bluetooth. I haven't tried but I assume the same can be done with photos. I try to sync the IPod Touch but it skips over Determing Tracks and does not sync any music. The capacity bar would show how much audio is there in GBs but then it disappears after it finishes syncing. Please and thank you

I am well aware that setting was on the iPod before iOS 5! My question is why is it missing? Because right now, Apple is selling the AV Composite cable claiming it's compatible with the iPod Touch (4th Gen) and it's not. Thank you!

So this says that the FastMac IV has a longer charge, is smaller, can charge additional devices, and has a flashlight. Does this mean that the FastMac IV is the choice to get?? I've heard everyone talk about their JuicePack...

I think the Mophie looks better, but like the added light on the FastMac iV.

I actually never heard of the FastMac iV till you posted this. I knew about Mophie since first iPhone and thought it was great and read great reviews on it. Never read anything about FastMac iV.

Controlling the iPod Touch

Hi all!
There is something I would LOVE to be able to do, is leaving my iPod Touch in my pocket while being able to control it. I saw a couple of solutions and I'd like to know what you guys think about it.
1) Timex iControl Watch for iPod
I love the concept (and I also need a new watch lol) but I'm afraid it stops working after a few months for whatever reason.
2) iPod Radio Remote
I know it says it's not working with the iPod Touch (and I don't care about the FM Radio) but my Sony iPod Boombox said it's not working on the Touch neither and it actually works, so is it working even though it's not supported by Apple?
3) Any other suggestions?

Sorry, but the radio remote doesn't work at all with the iPod Touch. A message appears on the screen telling you the accessory is not supported, and it doesn't do anything. I believe the issue may be that it streams digital audio from the iPod and has its own DA converter, which would be necessary to have within the remote itself, as the FM signal decodes (demodulates, technically) directly to an analog audio signal. And of course, the iPod dock connector can only send or receive digital data.
My point being that it's not just a simple control device, and it might be fairly complicated to get it working with the different hardware and OS on the iPhone/iPT. But still. I don't even care about the radio feature. I just want a remote. And I wish it had been a priority to Apple to at least make the control functions work, but I don't think it's Apple's style to make something "sort of" work. They are either not going to do it at all, or it's way down a long list of other stuff that's more important for the iPhone platform right now. Considering it still lacks copy and paste in 2.0, I guess I can understand that.

You need to convert videos to iPod Touch format.
H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format
Support for 1024 by 768 pixels with Apple VGA Adapter; 576p and 480p with Apple Component AV Cable; 576i and 480i with Apple Composite AV Cable (cables sold separately)
After converting the videos use iTunes to Add to Library.
Once in iTunes, connect and select iPod Touch in iTunes, go to Movies tab and select Sync Movies with your videos selected and click bottom right Sync button.

Will The iPod Touch's New Update Give Us Backgrounds?!

The buzz around the forum's is that there will be a new software update for the iPod Touch tomorrow, June 21, 2010. My question is, will this update bring us the ability to have backgrounds like it shows on the ads for the new iPhone's!!! If so I am VERY excited for this because I have always wanted a background!

Is there a technical reason why the iPod Touch 2G couldn't support a bluetooth keyboard? Wouldn't it be just a matter of including the bluetooth keyboard profile in the system just like it currently has the A2DP profile? This seems like an unnecessary exclusion. I would have gone out and bought an Apple Bluetooth keyboard just for that purpose. I also don't see why the 2G couldn't support at least background audio streaming from 3rd party apps since it can obviously do just fine playing in the background from the Music app. I do get Folders though which is what I absolutely need the most, so I'm very excited about that.

Is the screen on the iPod Touch as good as the iPhone?

I have read various reviews of the iPod Touch where it was mentioned that the screen, particularly for video playback, is not as good as that on the iPhone. Also that the sound quality is not as good as that on the Classic or Nano. Is this true? I don't need an iPhone ..at least not until O2 in the UK can offer a better deal than the current ones... so would like to buy an iPod Touch instead, but I have been slightly put off by these negative statements. Is there actually any difference in the screen specification or materials used on the iPod Touch?

Update.. Well I have now been to an Apple reseller and compared both and to be honest I could not see any difference between the quality of image on the iPhone and Touch screens. Both looked excellent with photos and almost as good with video. I was only able to view YouTube videos so probably not the best viewing experience. I wasn't able to do an audio test but as the main reason for buying one is for showing photos and my iMovie videos I think the Ipod Touch is ideal. I already have a 5G iPod crammed with Apple lossless files for music. Shame it is only 16 gig though.

ITunes not showing songs that are on the iPod Touch

I have an iPod Touch 4th Generation.
I use iTunes 11.0.
I usually connect my iPod Touch to iTunes and play songs from there because I do not put songs in my itunes library.
I was doing this as usual and today when I connected my iPod Touch to iTunes, songs did not show up on the music tab of "On This iPod".
Just the previous day, I opened iTunes and there were all my songs.
Today, iTunes does not show any of my downloaded songs that were not bought from the iTunes Store.
The iTunes Capacity Bar shows that I have songs on my iPod Touch.
But when clicking on the iPod and going under the music tab in "On This iPod", there is no music other than a few songs, which were purchased from the iTunes Store itself.
I also tried third party software just today to check if I can get the songs off my iPod.
I tried using SharePod and it did not detect any songs, not even the purchased songs from iTunes.
There are songs on the iPod Touch only. I can play all the songs from the iPod Touch just fine.
They are simply just not showing up on iTunes.
How do I get iTunes to show the songs on my iPod Touch? The capacity bar says there are songs.
I tried SharePod a few times long before this happened, and it showed the songs on the iPod Touch.
I don't understand why all of a sudden the songs all disappeared from iTunes itself only.
(I would say this is similar to other issues where iTunes DOES show songs while the iPod itself DOES NOT. Mine is the opposite.)

I tried backing up the iPod Touch.
Now all the songs on the iPod Touch (except for the purchased ones) are turned to blank names and are skipped.
There is no name for each song or artwork, they all are called 'unknown'.
Only the purchased songs are left unharmed. Everything else is corrupted now.
