Audio on transitions???

Am I correct in my assessment that I cannot add an audio track to a transition? What I'm gonig for is I want my looping audio track to be part of the main menu, the transition to be an audio clip that links (more or less) to the actual movie - creating a audio ramping effect, so to speak.
Thanks

I dont believe transitions from menus can include audio. slideshows can use transitions with continuous audio, but that won't solve your issue.
Your best bet is to create your transition with audio as a separate video asset with FCP, Motion, or AE, and either have it play as a separate track or menu inbetween the menu and the movie, or for an even more seamless look, build the transition onto the front of the movie - you can always skip over with a marker if you need to.

  • Why wont my audio/video transitions render in media encoder

when im rendering a project from PP in media encoder the audio/video transitions i added to my project dont show up in the rendered version of the video (the affter affects compositions i added show up though) but when i open the project back up in PP there they are. am i just not applying them correctly, or is there an extra step to link them to the clips or something. im still new to the software so you'll probably have to explain this to me in very basic terms. thanks

I don't use Photoshop for video so am having to guess here, but you say H.264 but not what preset you are using. In PremPro there are something like a 100 prest options for H.264  Try something like Vimeo HD 1080p 29.97, but instead of exporting the entire video, drag the markers under the video preview window, to contain just enough to see if it is working.  That will save you a heap of time.     Can you select VBR 2 pass from the Citrate settings in media encoder?  The Vimeo setting of 5Mbs for the target bitrate should easily give you nice transitions, but you can up that if you like, at the expense of file size.

  • After exporting to Encore, no audio/video transitions

I used keyframes to create audio/video fade-ins and fade-outs between chapters. It looked perfect in Premiere. I then went to File > Export to Encore. Let it render for 3 hours. Then the resulting m2v/wav combination in Encore doesn't show any evidence of the audio transitions that I had created. This happened for 4 different 2-hour videos I am trying to make. What am I doing wrong?

If you set the work area bar to span one of the problem transitions and then export that work area to a DV AVI file, when you play the exported file in an external media player do you hear the audio transition?
    Cheers

  • Keynote 3.02 audio and transitions

    Hello,
I have read about audio problems in Keynote when exporting to QT, but I have not seen anyone write about the problem I experienced.
In my presentation, I have several slides that play audio files of varying lengths - 30 sec, 45 sec, etc. I have the slides set to delay the transition to the next slide until the audio file is done playing. For example, on the slide with the 30 sec AIF, I set the slide to delay the transition for 32 seconds. Everything works great in Keynote. The timings are perfect. But when I export the presentation as a QT .mov, extra time is placed on those slides - a lot of extra time! I think it may be playing the 30 sec audio file, and then starting the 32 second delay, so the slide sits there on the screen for an extra 32 seconds.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a bug, or am I supposed to know that there are different "rules" when exporting to QT? I can't find anything about this in the manual.
    Thanks,
    Michael

This is a known problem with Keynote. Version 3.0.2 is not able to hold a transition until the end of a movie when presenting live, so the workaround is to place a build approximately equivalent in length to the audio or video.
As you've seen, the problem comes when you export to QuickTime as that delay is in ADDITION to the content. The only workaround is to build two presentations, one with the delay built in for live presentations and another with no delays that's intended for QuickTime export. If you keep these two in sync, then you always have a presentation ready whether you're doing it live or needing to export it to QuickTime.

  • Adding Audio to Transitions

I'm really sorry if this topic has been raised before, but I'm new to this Discussion Forum.
Can anybody let me know if it's possible to add an audio effect to a transition in Keynote 3. For example if I wanted to add a whooshing sound to a Reflection transition so that as the screens rotate you hear the sound effect. I've looked on various other help sites and forums, but none of them have either posed this question or offered a solution. I know in, (sorry dirty word coming), PowerPoint that you can add audio and fine tune and edit the timing and I am hoping that I can do the same in Keynote.
If someone has a solution to this request could you kindly e-mail it to me, please?

You can give this basic remedy a try for the problem with iMovie. Quit iMovie and delete your iMovie preferences. To do this, go to your username> library> preferences> com.apple.imovie.plist. Delete this file. Then reopen iMovie; it will create a new preference file with all of the default settings.
If you have iMovie HD6, you could use that to get the results you want. I am not familiar with subsequent versions.
Does the slideshow play the way you want in iPhoto? You could create your slideshow with edited music in iPhoto and then export as a QuickTime movie. This movie can then be imported into iDVD for burning.
    I hope this helps.

  • Audio in Transitions choppy

    Hello,
I just installed ILife 06 and there are 2 things that just don't work properly and Im hoping someone has an answer. One I can live with the other is really annoying. When I drag a clip into my time line, split it and apply any transition between the clips the audio becomes totally choppy and completely unusable. Ive tried adjusting the length of the transition and tried different transitions all with the same result. What has worked is extracting the audio from the clip - that becomes a real pain. Am I doing something wrong?
Also in the themes pane, when I select a theme and add pictures, the pics become completely lo-res and jagged. The pics have plenty of res in them - they look perfect in IPhoto.
I would greatly appreciate anyones insight.
    Thanks.

    Andrew replying to another Andrew
I "think" I figured out why when you apply the transitions the audio becomes choppy.
I was just doing this today as well. My video was recorded in 720i on my camcorder, but when I was importing it into imovie I chose the quicktime format to edit my video. So I think it was because imovie had to compress your higher quality video and that's when the sound and transition failed to work together.
So I realized that if I chose the format 720i to edit my video (matching the quality that it was recorded in) there were no audio issues and you do not have to extract the audio from it.

  • Serious flaw in audio and transitions

When I fade out the audio going into another clip, via a transition, the audio starts playing again during the transition, cuts off after the transition and then starts playing the audio of the next clip after the transition. Naturally I have no control over the audio during the transition.
iMovie is decent software but the lack of any decent audio editing within the program makes it pretty amateur. Sadly, Windows Movie Maker is far better when it comes to editing video and audio within the program. Hopefully the design team is working toward making this a superior product.

I've been telling Apple since at least '09. The audio problems existed then too. There are a couple reasons and maybe I'll go through some old posts here or that I've sent Apple to try to find them, but once you "fix" the issue that is causing this problem, it will then be fine. Obviously this is a bug and should have been fixed years ago though. Here's one thing to be aware of right off the bat....
Don't bother using Precision Editor to start or end audio earlier or later because you'll wind up messing up audio transitions before and/or after the transition you're working on. What winds up happening is fades turn into hard cuts here and there. Only the one you worked on will be fine. Stick with detaching the audio instead.

  • Audio during Transitions

Weird stuff. In iMovie HD, I'm getting audio from other parts of my project during my transitions. I end up putting the volume to zero during the trsnsitions, but this obviously isn't very smooth.
Anyone else have this problem? Solution?
    Brian

Which version of iMovie? This is the iMovie 09 discussion. (Version 8.01)
Sounds like you have iMovie 5.

  • Lost Audio in transition from iPhoto to iMovie

Hey, I have audio for my videos when they are in iPhoto but then when I try to put them together in iMovie, there's no audio. I know that the movie format is Muxed and that's why there's no audio but how do I change this? Do I have to re-import the video and if so how do I change the setting that puts it in that format? I should mention that I have been able to use this same camera before but that my sister's camera is working with it. Alright thanks bunches!!!
    Cassie

It's very simple to use but offers dozens of "hidden" features.
    Your camera "makes" MPEG-1 files.
MPEG-1 is intended to be a playback only format and your files must be converted prior to import in iMovie.
Transfer the file from your camera to your computer. It will usually be XXXX.mpg file.
Open this file using MPEG Streamclip.
Export this file to DV Stream (a QuickTIme format used by iMovie and DV cameras).
Open iMovie and import your XXXX.dv file.
    Make your edits using iMovie.
Your iMovie with no sound Project file should be moved to the trash. It is useless to you now.

  • Audio/effects/transitions/titles from older versions of iMovie

I've discovered that iMovie 3 removed some content that was present in iMovie 2; specifically, the Water Ripple effect, and all the old stock audio clips. Granted, the new audio Skywalker Sound audio clips in iMovie 3 were better, but it'd still be nice to have access to the old ones too. So I have two questions:
Does anyone know if anything else was removed going from iMovie 3->4, 4->5, or 5->6?
Is there a way to get those old audio/effects back into later versions of iMovie? (Maybe a way to upgrade that preserves the older content, sort of like how you can upgrade iDVD 3 to iDVD 4 in order to keep the older iDVD 1 & 2 themes.)
Also another question: once upon a time, available for free download from Apple's website were a bunch of additional iMovie audio clips, background sets, etc. Alas, Apple has proven just as averse to preserving its past as nearly any other corporation: those files have long since been removed. Is there an archive of these anywhere?

Well after a bit of research I discovered that the old effect files can be integrated into later versions of iMovie. Basically what you have to do is right-click iMovie 2 and choose Show Package Contents. For the Water Ripple effect, navigate to Contents->Plug-ins, and copy the file Ripple.bundle, and create a copy of it to ~/Library/iMovie/Plug-ins. For the old stock audio sound effects, go back to the iMovie 2 package contents, navigate to Contents->Resources->Sound Effects, and copy all the files enclosed to ~/Library/iMovie/Sound Effects.
Of course you could always copy these files to the package contents of the later iMovie.app, but this way is a bit less of a "hack". (Oddly though when I tried just that, Ripple.bundle would only work when placed in iMovie->Contents->Plugins, not to be confused with the separate Plug-ins folder that it was stored in within iMovie 2.)
Anyway, hope this info helps somebody out there!

  • Audio builds/transitions

Hey all, is there a way to fade music in and out in keynote, like using builds on an object.
The manual says that you can have more control over how music plays etc by assigning builds, but doesn't show how, and I just can't get it to work!
    Any ideas/workarounds??

I have had some success with this by exporting a iTunes song to QuickTime and this pasting the soundtrack "movie" whereever I want -- you can also control how this appears through the BUILD function.

  • How to apply audio and video transitions automatically when drop multiple clips to timeline?

If I remember OK, in previos versions of Premiere it was possible to Drag multiple Clips from project area to timeline, and apply automatically audio/video transitions.
It was possible to configure how many video frames will be overlapped to do a default transitions (and for audio, also).
Is it possible in Premiere CS6 to do the same thing ?  Leave me a link to documentation, or a hint, how to get this thing done.
I have searched over the documentation, but i have not found.
    Thanks for hints.

I believe the feature you're referring to is Automate to Sequence. In CS6, it was in the Project Menu; for those using CC, it is in the Clip Menu.

  • Transitions problem with Audio

I've never seen this problem before (and have used this app quite a bit). When I add a transition between two clips (say a fade in or fade out) the audio at the transition just turns into white noise, crackling sounds. Any idea what could cause this?
Note: The clips being used started as .avi files. Were converted into .mov files, imported into Garageband where the original audio was muted, and better quality audio was sync'd to the video. Then it was exported as a new .mov, retained all the original settings.
Still, I can't see what any of this would have to do with the transition audio problem. The clips play (and sound) fine until the transition is added.
    Thanks in advance....

    Hi Scott
As I see this it's a known problem with no Real bug-fix Just way around.
    • Select Clip A and B (where You intend to put the transition)
    • Go to Advance Menu and down to Extract Audio
    • Now goto transitions and select and apply the one You want
    • Lastly go to the extracted audio clips and trim the end of the first one
and start of the second one.
Now it plays as You'll like it and the audio will be OK
I usually starts my project after import and videoedited to timeline to
select all and extract all audio
    Then transitions
    then fine tune the audio

  • Created Custom Transition but cannot hear the audio in it, need Help!

Hi guys, I created a custom Transition for the dvd.
I set the transition but the audio is not in there with it.
How can set my custom transition with the audio?
    Thanks,
    Zia

By custom transition, do you mean a video you created yourself in FCP?
Or do you mean a transition that DVD SP created? If it is this, then no, there is no audio on transitions. The solution is to create your own video that you then put in a track that then links to your main track.

  • Audio only dissolve???

In FCP 7 you could add an audio only dissolve by Option Command T
This does not work in  FCPX. Why not?
How can you do this as simply in FCP X?
I saw one explanation of how to do one on Creative Cow but it was a ridiculous 5 step process for a simple audio only dissolve.
This can't be the only way.
It should be as simple as a Option Comman T or even more simple if possible.
Geesh why is that so hard?

In the timeline I can double-click on the waveform part of the clip and it expands the audio. I'm using 10.0.4 and that may be a new feature. Another way is to control-click (or right click) the clip and choose, "Expand Audio."
If you expand the audio on two adjacent clips, you'll be able to do an audio only transition.
    Good luck!
