Audio out both through headphone and and speaker (line out!)

Using latest Snow Leopard with latest Windows 7 and Bootcamp 3.0 drivers.
Everytime I plug in the headphones from the front of the Mac Pro, the speaker doesn't mute. I get sound out of both connections.
I downloaded the latest drivers from Realtek and the same thing happens.

  • Ringtone play through headphone and speaker

With the headphone (come with the box) plug into iphone 4, when I selecting the ringtone from the settings > sounds > ringtone, the iphone will play the sound through headphone and speaker. Same things happen either with silent/mute switch turn on or off. When in public area, I would like to have the ringtone to play through my headphone only not the phone speaker, is that anyway to do this?

with iOS 4.1 on both my 3GS and my wife's iPhone 4, I can hear the ringtone through the headphones regardless of whether the phone is muted or not. I can hear through the speaker (with and without headphones) only when the phone is not muted...
no setting for it, but it should work...

  • Why is my music playing through headphones and speaker?

Just yesterday my iPod Touch started acting weird. First it would play my music for awhile, then pause. I would hit play, then it would start playing but only through the speakers. It would then start playinh through the earphones then pause again. And then this morning my iPod started playing through both the speaker and headphones. Help!
ps- I have an iPod Touch Second Generation That Has Been Recently Restored

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup.
    - Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.
If you still have the problem it is likely due to a hardware problem like maybe the headphone jack.  I would them make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • IPhone  no longer plays music through headphones or on speaker but will work when making a call on both headphones and speaker.

my phone will no longer play music through headphones or on speaker but will work when making a call on both headphones and speaker. Also when I plug in my iPhone to a jack that uses a power amp like external speakers it works fine. I have no idea whats going on i've restored it twice and still nothing.

    did you update your phone?

  • I have lost all audio on both my internal and external speakers.

I have lost audio on both my internal and external speakers.  I have checked the System Preferences when my external speakers are plugged in it is acknowledged.  When using internal speakers they are also acknowledged.  Sound volume on Preferences is on and fully high.  The sound buttons on the keyboard  do not work and the sound level is now locked in at full sound and cannot be adjusted using the keys.  The System Preferences shows that Mute is now checked and I cannot uncheck it.  What should I do to get my sound back both internally and externally?

    Repair permissions & restart.
Check your settings in the Audio Midi app which is located in the Utilities folder.

    =====================
    Repairing the mysteriously muted Mac
The background on the issue is that there’s a small sensor switch inside the headphone port. When you insert a headphone jack, the sensor understands what's what and changes the sound output setting to Headphones. If you insert a jack for digital audio output, the device changes to Digital Out. When you remove the jack completely, it should read Internal Speakers.
The spirits tell me that there’s a very good chance that you recently had something jacked into this port—a set of headphones or a cable leading to powered speakers, for example. When you removed the jack, something in the port prevented the sensor from tripping correctly. That’s why you see Digital Out instead of internal Speakers.
The solution is to force the sensor to do its job. The safest way to do that is to simply run a jack in and out of the port a few times. Much of the time, this takes care of the problem by correctly tripping the sensor. If that doesn’t work, there may be gunk in the port. Before turning to more invasive techniques, get a can of compressed air, attach the small tube that fits the nozzle, and blast a few shots of air into the port. With any luck, that should dislodge the gunk and the port will operate as it should.
If that doesn’t work, find a foam-tipped swab that fits (electronics shops generally carry them), dip it in rubbing alcohol, and gently insert it into the headphone port in an attempt to wipe away any stubborn gunk. I recommend foam rather than cotton swabs because the cotton variety might leave threads behind. (This same technique works well with misbehaving headphone ports on devices such as iOS devices.)
It's possible that gunk has nothing to do with it. Rather, it may be that the switch just needs a subtle nudge. If a jack or swab doesn't work, I've heard of people successfully resetting it with a deft poke of a toothpick.

  • Satellite M30X-122: How to use headphone and speaker at the same time?

    Hi,
is there any possiblity to use the headphone and the speaker at the same time?
When I plug the head phones in the socket, the speaker is swtiched off now.
    Thanks
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
Unfortunately there is no way to use both the headphones and the speakers at the same time. This is because tghere is as physical disconnection of the current to the internal speakers when you plug in the headphones. It is not software controlled. The only way of bypassing this would be to dismantle the headphone socket and permanently solder the connections which are broken when you insert the headphone socket.
    regards,

  • Headphones and speaker simultaneou

I have an Audigy 2 sound card with the latest driver available from this site installed. I have my desktop speakers plugged into the back of my computer and my headphone plugged into the jack at the front of my computer.
I am trying to have my computer to output sound to both the headphone and the speakers at the same time, which I was able to do until my spekaers stopped working for a time and I worked with settings, trying to fix the problem. Both the speakers and the headphones will work seperately. Following advise from this forum, I went to Contol Panel>AudioHQ>Device Controls and unchecked the box labeled "Mute speakers when using headphones," but it appears the speakers are still muted when I plug in the headphones. Is there something else I should try?

Using the cards front and rear jacks like this,
    front - headphones
    rear - speakers
then in the speaker settings set it to 4/4. when you want to use both and enabled CMSS3D. If all you want is speakers you can leave it as it, turn volume down on the headphones if they have an in-line control, or in the CMSS settings slide it to all rear. If oyu want just the headphones go back to the speaker settings and set it to headphones.

  • Can't separate Headphone and speaker audio

Hi, Just bought a new Acer E15 (E5-571G). It works great, but in my daily life, I have to use headphones a lot (I don't use laptop speakers at all). But no matter how hard I try, sound is coming both from speakers and the headphones. I have the latest Realtek HD audio drivers. Realtek recognizes when a device is plugged in the audio jack, but still, under 'playback' devices, there is only one option - Speakers.  Running Windows 10, Build 10162. The headphones work great on another laptop with the same build. This is my last resort, Please help! I don't want to void the warranty, by manually opening and disabling the laptop speakers.

i would try to install the latest Realtek 2.79 from Realtek website:http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false tick "i accept...." then choose 32 or 64 bit driver, uninstall your Realtek drivers then install the new one.

  • Headphones and Speaker se

I just purchased a Audigy SE and it works fine when i use either headphones OR a 2 speaker setup, i cant find a way to use both. For example sound wont come through the headphones and speakers at the same time, only if i switch leads around behind the computer. I want the setup like this so i can use the headset with microphone for VOIP and then the speakers when i dont need the microphone. Is there a way for a setup like this? Or am i missing something?

Using the cards front and rear jacks like this,
    front - headphones
    rear - speakers
then in the speaker settings set it to 4/4. when you want to use both and enabled CMSS3D. • Headphones and Speak

I bought a headset that has a separate headphone and microphone jack, which is different from the USB headset i had before, and i want to know if its possible for me to hear in headphones and from my speakers at the same time.
Also if anyone is familiar with Ventrilo im wondering if there is a way to have all normal audio go through my speakers but to have just the vent audio(people talking) to go through the headset.
Please i need help for this.
Or does anyone know a headphone+microphone to USB converter that will work?

Yes, you can do the Ventrilo if you have 2 soundcards.
I don't know how one would get two different audio signals through the same soundcard, at the same time nonetheless, though, I could be wrong.
Set whatever you want coming through the speakers as the default card in the Sound options of Windows.
In the setup option for Ventrilo, the Output Device should be your other soundcard. (i.e., the soundblaster)
So, if you want to play World of Warcraft and have the game sound out of the desktop speakers, and listen to everyone ramble on in Ventrilo on your headphones, the above is the way to go.

  • No sound on my laptop except through headphones and everything is up to date

The other night I watching a tv show online and it was taking to long to load up so I decided to refresh the page. After everything refreshed I didn't have any sound. I can get sound if I use headphones and I went to device manager to update the drivers and it came back up to date but I still don't have sound. I have windows Vista if that makes any difference.

OK - sorted now. After all my previous options I flashed the bIOS to the latest download on the HP site but still no go. Then I thought I'd try the only other thing mentioned that I hadn't done - I downloaded the audio drivers and was going to reinstall them but when I ran it I had the option of reinstall or remove, I remembered someone posted removing and then letting the OS auto-reinstall on the next boot worked so I chose the Remove option. Sure enough when I logged in after the restart there was no audio device at all so Windows went away and found the original audio driver in the Windows folders and reinstalled - and we had sound back. Then got the driver updated to the latest through Device Manager and (hopefully) back to how it was yesterday.

  • Sound Coming From Both Headphone and Speaker (Elitebook 8460p)

I have windows 7 64-bit and when I plug headphones into the jack in the front right, the sound comes out of both the speaker and headphones. Here's what I've tried to fix the problem:
    1) BIOS update to P20
    2) Audio driver update to latest on HP site
    3) Make headphones not the communication default
I'm running out of options here, and it seems like nothing will solve this. Thanks

I've got the same problem as well. It's very frustrating. Does anyone have an answer?

  • [SOLVED]no sound in both headphone and speaker after update (alsa)

No sound after update. But, I can hear sound in headphone after install pulseaudio, while there is no sound in speaker (after plugging out headphone). I have tried some methods in related wiki articles, such as alsa and pulseaudio, but not works.
    My enviroment is arch64, kde. I have installed lib32-alsa-plugins lib32-libpulse lib32-openal.
Anything others I can do? Thanks for advance.

XuYimin, can you please give more info on what you mean by "update (alsa)"? There is no "alsa" package in Arch as alsa & it's modules are part of the (linux) kernel.
As you have already gone into alsamixer to ensure the appropriate channels are unmuted & set at the desired level, have you also gone into your KDE systems settings -> Multimedia -> Audio and Video Settings & rechecked your settings?
sorry,it's really misleading in my words.what i want to say is 'no sound after update, and the sound system is alsa.'
i'm sure the approiate channels are unmuted. in the Video Setting, I tested all sound cards in the list, But i can't hear sound.

  • Curve 8520 speaker cutting out - flips between headphones and speaker

Hey there, my curve has just started clicking when recieving or making calls. The icon in the top left is flipping between headphones & normal. The store said I need to reset the factory settings which would be annoying! Any thoughts?

If anyone needs an answer to this:
    1) Plug in headphones/headset into 8520
    2) Place a call (headset symbol should be at top-left)
    3) While in call, remove headphones/headset (headset symbol should disappear)
    4) It should now be fixed. If not, keep inserting and removing headphones/headset.
