Audio output doesn't work right. How to fix it?

I plugged my earphones in and noticed that the left side was much louder than the right. I tried different earphones and and it works fine on my iphone so it definately is the plug in of my mac that now doesn't work properly anymore

What did you do, before this happened? Did you install new software? Update the system?
Have you tried to restart the iPhoneor to reset the iPhone? See:   reset your device

If that does not help, restore the device: restoring iOS software

  • HDMI Audio Output doesn't work in Windows on Retina MBP

When I'm using Windows 7 (with BootCamp) on my Retina MacBook Pro, I like to connect it to my TV using the HDMI out to watch movies. However, when in Windows, it doesn't seem to output the audio to the TV. Instead, it plays through the MacBook's internal speakers. I don't know how to change it, and there doesn't seem to be in option in the Volume Controls in Windows.
Anyone have any success having both video and audio outputted to a TV in Windows 7 on their rMBP? If so, how?

Try downloading and installing bootcamp 3.1 it fixed my sound for me.

  • Proximity Sensor Doesn´t Work. How to fix it?

I´am experiencieng a problem that many other iphone users may either.
The proximity sensor doesn´t work. When i answer a phone call, the display doesn´t turn off, and everytime i keep dialing numbers, endind calls and a lot of other little things that are getting on my nerves.
It seems apple couldn´r care less for those problems we are having, and nothing has been told or done. Thats good for us to see how much apple is concerned with customers.
Anyway, is there a way to fix this annoying thing???

this could be a few reasons,
    1. try and update the device to the latest firmware via itunes, to check you on are on 4.3 go to settings>general>about and under version, if is lower than 4.3, update the device
    2. if this fails remove any cases or screen protecters (silly, i know) that may block the sensor
    3. if that fails, take to the nearest apple store, and describe your problem, they will either replace a=or repair
    hope this helps

  • Mini Display port HDMI doesn't work? How to fix it it doesn't show neither video nor audio

    Hi,
I bought two days ago a Rocketfish mini DisplayPort to HDMI but I still cannot watch anything in my tv. I've tried everything. I plugged the HDMI cable in differents ports of my tv, I plugged it in differents TV of my house but nothing happened. I dont know what the problem is : the TV's, my MacBook Pro or the adapter. I went to system preferences > Displays but the it doesn't recognize the TV and in the other hand the TV doesn't recognize any signal. Help me plase to solve this problem.
    Thank you

I dont think is the cable because it works with my playstation 3. Does the size of the tv have any relation to the problem?
No, the size of the TV makes no difference at all.
I would try to exchange the adapter.

  • My inbox keeps asking for a password, but when I put it in it doesn't work. How to fix?

'kay, I don't know what's wrong, but I have a couple of theories: 1) I sent a whole whack of pictures to my email account "[email protected]" (I'm using a different email to contact you since I can't get through on my main email). The account I signed up with is "[email protected]". Both accounts have exactly the same settings, but tvqueen13 works and monarque doesn't. Maybe I clogged up the monarque email account? If so, how can I fix it? 2) I have both Emsisoft Anti-Malware and AVG Security 2014 (bought, not free), but somehow got a rash of infections of Trojan Horses (ie. TrojanHorseInject2.BJPG & BJPP, TrojanHorseMSIL6.UOM & MSIL4.ALBK). I have been working with Emsisoft to clean my computer, but no matter what tools I use, AVG still says I have an infection (or more) in my temp files. I had to uninstall AVG to run something and have not reinstalled it yet. Emsisoft says I'm all good, but I don't think so. I keep getting adware hijacking my websites too. I'm at the point where I think I'll have to swap out my C drive. So ... can you help me get my [email protected] email to work again? Thanks, Kelsey Monarque

My guess is all the issues are probably related and fall back to malware.
AVG is probably correct in identifying malware. So I suggest you try some cleaning tools other than Emsisoft .
    ones I use (all of them one after the other until I find one that can cope) are;
    Roguekiller http://www.adlice.com/softwares/roguekiller/
    Malwarebytes anti malware Free http://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/var2/confirm/
    ESET online scanner http://www.eset.com/int/home/products/online-scanner/
So first create a clean boot in Windows using Microsoft's instructions https://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135?wa=wsignin1.0 and then run the anti malware applications.
My outside looking in guess is that malware has set itself up as an internet proxy and is is downloading copies of itself and other malware, blocking some mail port as times as downloading more malware is more important, and probably breaking your tivo as well..
Try the malware programs first. If that does not work I will try and talk you through some logging to see what is happening.

  • Shadows doesn't work. How to fix it?

When I go to Edit > Adjust > Shadows and start the slider to brighten the photo, the screen goes blank. This is a much-used feature. • SRDemo sample app - cancel button doesn't work correctly - how to fix?

    Hello all,
I posted a question about this earlier, but didn't receive any response. I see that the new SR Demo app with jdeveloper 10.1.3 has the same problem, so I thought I'd re-post. Basically, the "Cancel" buttons don't work in web pages based on ADF.
    To re-create the problem:
    1). Run the SR Demo.
    2). Sign in as sking/welcome
3). Navigate to "My Service Requests"
    4). Select request # 111 and View
    5). Click the Edit button
6). Change the problem text to "Cancel doesnt work"
    7). Click the Cancel button
You are now on the view page for the SR again. Even though you have clicked the cancel button, the problem text has been changed to "Cancel doesnt work" If you re-edit the request, the text has magically reverted.
I see this as a pervasive issue in the ADF framework - what is the correct way to handle it?
    Kind regards,
    John

    John,
Quick testing just now suggests that you can fix this issue in the EJB/Toplink version of the SRDemoSample by setting the "Immediate" property of the cancel button to "true".
I'm not able to reproduce this in the SRDemoSample using ADFBC that is available in early-access release from here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/jdev/B25947_01/index.html
This version has the cancel button marked as Immediate="true", so I think that should do th e trick.

  • IPod touch 3rd gen spinning wheel plus home button doesn't work. How to fix?

I have an iPod touch 3rd gen that is stuck on the Apple logo and also has that spinning of wheel death thing. I am trying to enter into DFU mode but won't work due to the home button not working. Is there any other way I can fix this and make it boot back up regularly?

    Try here:

See if  using thies program will get the iPod in recovery mode so you can restore the iPod

If not let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least for an hour try again.
If you can update to iOS 5 and the Home button sill does not work yu can turn on the Assistive Touch Accessibility feature. See chapter 30 of the Users Guide.

  • IPad audio  output is not working properly, except on Siri. Any ideas on what is wrong and how to fix it?

iPad audio output does not work, except for on Siri. The mute button is not on, and the volume buttons have no effect/ don't work (unless Siri is open). I have reset the iPad, tried iOS7 and iOS8 resets, which didn't help. The audio output mostly works when headphones are out in, but has a tendency to cut out from time to time. Without headphones, Audio might start working again briefly from time to time, but most the time it doesn't.  Any ideas on what is wrong with it and how to fix it?
my iPad is a 3rd gen, 16GB wifi only model, if that helps
I did take it to an Apple Store, but the inncorrectly insisted that my speaker was bust and it would cost £250 to replace the whole iPad!

iOS 8 isn't even out yet. If you are running iOS 8, I assume you are a developer and if you are, you are in the wrong forum to try to get help. If you are not a developer and you're running iOS 8, maybe that's why you are having problems on the iPad.

The type that I made bold doesn't make sense. Is this a typo and you mean that " headphones are not in"?

And you know they are incorrect because you get sound here and there from time to time? That fact doesn't prove that something isn't working correctly inside. You could very well have a bad connection inside the device causing this, but somehow you seem to know that's not the case.

  • I HAVE JUST BOUGHT a MacBook air. The earphone output doesn't work. I read somewhere that you have to make a choice with internal speakers. How?

I have just bought my first Mac a MacBook Air 11 ". Thwe external output doesn't work . Do I have to make a choice between internal and external speakers? If so, How?

Go to System Preferences -> Sound -> Output.

  • Audio output will not work on external speakers.  Internal speakers will work.  What do i do to replace audio output slot

Right click your volume icon in the notification area and select "volume control options". From there, you should be able to select the external speakers.
    I hope that helps!
    Best of luck,

Make sure there's enough free space on the startup disk to install software updates...
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.

  • Audio output no longer works

I have a new Mac Mini that I got up and running about a month ago. A couple of weeks ago I installed a bluetooth device, a headset I also use with my celular phone, to use with Skype. So far so good....but when I tried for the first time to fire up GarageBand, sound output was setup to go through the headset. So in preferences -> audio output, I selected "Built-in audio". From this moment on I haven't had any audio output at all. I turned off the headset, restarted GarageBand, and got "bluetooth audio failed", tried a reboot, tried deleting the bluetooth device and turning off bluetooth, rebooting again, and still no audio. Other audio applications work fine--sound from games, media, etc. come out the built-in audio. But Garageband still is silent. In the preferences there are no more references to the bluetooth hardware in the drop-down lists for the audio devices.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I have been searching the discussions and Apple knowledge base artices for a while and can't find anything.
This is GB version 2.0.2 (50).
    Thanks for any help!
    Bill Nassauer

In the system prefs, under "Sounds", the only device listed is "built-in audio", and it's selected. I've already setup the GB prefs, and they're still fine (see my original message). I've never played with the audio midi setup, but taking a look for the first time, it looks normal--properties are shown for "built-in audio", and that's the only possible selection...nothing muted, and volumes normal...

  • I Mac(OS 10.6.5) Core Audio MIDI doesn't work

I just bought iMac. Problem is Core Audio/MIDI doesn't work at all.
I installed Logic Studio, Battery..but none of them working with MIDI interface.
When I worked with Macbook(OS 10.5) before, there was no problem at all.
I Used Mbox2 for audio interface and mic pre, and master keyboard with USB port as MIDI device.
Now I can't work at all with my music project because of audio/MIDI problem.
I tried to fix it opening Audio MIDI setup but I only get the message saying..
    "Required Software extensions are missing"
and when I go to the the page after clicking OK, then it says that I need to get supported by software company for upgrade, which I have the latest version...
also I get the message "Core MIDI quits unexpectedly...".
These two message pop up every time I open Logic Studio too.
I hope solution for this matter.
I really need to focus on producing my music...

So, after long work around which failed this is how i made it work!
I think the problem is the latest update of the system (10.6.5) I am back now on 10.6.2 and all is fine : this is how i managed it based on the fact that the whole thing was working fine on my MBP.
    1. download a copy of SuperDuper from the net
2.Open MBP and then firewire Target mode the iMac to the MBP
    3. with the SuperDuper clone the Hard disk of the MBP to the iMac
This will erase all on your iMac and make its hard disc exactly the same as the MBP; it also makes it bootable.
    4.open iMac alone
    5. insert the original system dvd for the iMac and install the SnowLeopard system BUT DO NOT UPGRADE
6.restart as demanded and you should be on 10.6.2
with your desktop and hard disk running exactly as it was on your MBP
7 when opening Logic (or the other pro apps like FCStudio pro then you will be asked for your serial numbers which it duly accepts
    8. all then should be running fine
Total time depends on size of your MBP hard disk (for me it took c. 3 hours including the reinstall 10.6.2) but all is now as it should be
