Audio output using Logitech Clearchat Pro USB headset sounds like chipmunks

I use a Logitech Clearchat USB headset for online meetings daily. On my previous machine (Black MacBook 2GHz) the headphones and mic worked fine. I just upgraded to a new 2.66 Unibody MacBook Pro and while the microphone works fine but the audio in the headphones sounds like chipmunks. If I switch the audio output to the speakers, the audio sounds fine.
Logitech claims that since the drivers the headphones use are built-in, it's not their issue. I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this problem and how I might be able to get it resolved.
Thanks.

' orangehat I sincerely hope you (we?) get an answer on this one! I ordered exactly the same headset the same time I did my 17-inch MBP. Still waiting for everything to be delivered - so can't say as yet whether I have the problem too. Hoping not.
' Hoping there's an answer to your question anyways so I can get an idea of things before my kit lands (IF that EVER actually HAPPENS!!!)

  • Converting cassette to cd using garageband.  Voice on cassette sounds like chipmunk.  Is there a way to fix the speed during recording on garageband, so the voice sounds normal?

Librarian Asst. needs your help!  Trying to preserve WWII veteran's interviews presently on cassette.  However, on one cassette the voices sound like chipmunks (speed too fast during recording).  I know how to transfer the cassette recording onto garageband.  I just don't know how to transfer the recording at a slower speed, so that the voices will sound normal.  Is there a way?  Please help.  Thanks.

You could try two things (sorry, I can only point you to the current settings in GB'11, since I no longer have GB '09) but it should be very similar.
The easiest thing would be, if the vocal transformers do work. You can change the pitch of a voice using a "Vocal Transformer" effect. Click the "Edit" tab in the "Info" panel and click an empty brick to add a filter:
If that does not work, try to change the timing of the track. Enable "Follow Tempo&Pitch". If GB '09 does not have "follow tempo & pitch", record your tape directly into a Real Instrument track in GB to record a purple region.
Use the tempo slider in the LED display to lower the tempo, till the recording does sound more natural.
    Good Luck,

  • Cannot get Logitech ClearChat Comfort USP headset to work on Leopard :-(

    Hello,
I upgraded to Leopard from Panther recently and have had nothing but problems ever since. I have become a part time computer tech support person (in addition to my full time day job). To make Leopard work smoothly on my Powermac G5 is an endless struggle....
The current struggle is trying to get my brand new Logitech ClearChat Comfort USB headset to work with Leopard. Googling this issue is bringing me very bad news: that Logitech and Apple do NOT communicate or cooperate, and each company refers frustrated end users to the other company for help--to a problem that has no solution.
Is it in fact true that all USB headsets now don't work on Leopard!? I find this unbelieveable if true--given the zillions of humans using Skype, for example, and how heavily relied upon is communicating internationally or long distance via Skype on a PC or Mac. Why can't Apple and Logitech get their act together and provide drivers and solutions so we can simply use a headset with our Mac?
Right now I have 5 month old (new in my opinion) Logitech headset that somebody recommended I buy to use on my Mac computer--and I can't get it to work, and there does not seem to be any driver for it.
Please if anybody can give me helpful advice, or a solution to this problem I'd appreciate it greatly.
PS: as in interesting sidenote I thankfully have a Sony Vaio notebook. Guess what? All I have to do is plug the headset into the notebook and can away I go to Skypeland, never any problems. Can't say the same about my Mac....always like pulling teeth to get anything to work on this boat anchor
My next computer will be a PC, I'm sorry to say....don't want to be a part-time computer engineer...too much work to do....

Generally, if I see a requirement of OS X 10.4 or later, the device will work under Leopard. Requirements of 10.3 or earlier tend to mean getting the device to work under Leopard is hit or miss.
With that in mind, how did you upgrade to Leopard? Did you use the Upgrade option or the Archive & Install?
It's up to Logitech to make sure their devices work properly with the operating systems, not Apple's.

  • Can anybody out there help shed some light on why no audio output using varispeed tempo only

Can anybody out there help shed some light on why no audio output using varispeed tempo only?
I am using Logic Pro 9 and finding no problems using the tempo and pitch option but when I just want to vari the tempo only I loose all output.
This includes no audio meter activity on channells.

Another worthwhile time/pitch related product is from Prosoniq. The version of Nuendo (not the latest) the University uses ships with the MPEX algorithm, which is related to to their flagship product.

I've used it a bit to create the double-time/+1 octave  Les Paul & Mary Ford guitar sound for a class demo demo and thought it did a very good job.
    Yes, there is a Demo.

My audio stops outputting after a few songs in a playlist - itunes says its still playing, stopping and starting track recommences audio output.  Mac book Pro Lion 16gb ram.  Can be any song, any time, same song will play if I select it again.  Bit of a bummer itunes is the main thing I use (macbook pro jukebox).

Most likely culprit is your Lacie drives which are notorious for flaky power supplies which cause just the sort of erratic behaviour that you describe. Have had similar issues myself. Lacie has been good about replacing my power converter-- twice. If you have seven of them, good luck finding the bad one or more. Like I said, the behaviour is erratic. Sometimes it'll work sometimes not. I can't comment on Samsung drives because I've never used them and have never heard anything about them. Same with Softraid. Why not just use Disk Utility. Sounds like you're ready for an external hardware raid. This will be much faster, much more reliable, and may even be cheaper than seven firewire drives. Check out G Tech, and Maxx Digital for starters.
    Best of luck

  • WIth LabVIEW how do I control an instrument with a RS232 output, using a RS232 to USB converter cable.

WIth LabVIEW how do I control an instrument with a RS232 output, using a RS232 to USB converter cable since I dont have rs232 ports. I have two instruments that I want to control in this manner. One is an Imada ZPS force gage with RS232 output. The other is a Panasonic HL-G103-S-J laser micrometer sensor which is RS422. I've done considerable LabVIEW programming using GPIB but I have no experience with devices like these. Any tutorial or examples would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I understand that you want to control a device which having RS 232 port as output. If so, you can use an USB-RS232 cable from PC to device and you can control or monitor the device.
    See this link http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/2669
Also, first check the device in hyperterminal and then continue to program in labVIEW. You can find the serial VI's in Instrument I/O.

From what I've seen in my brief search, you need to go the ActiveX route.

  • Wich one best for Audio Recording using cubase and pro tools? MBP md102 or MBP md103? i often using a lot of VST

wich one the best for Audio Recording using cubase and pro tools? MBP md102 or MBP md103? i often using a lot of VST too

Well, I've been trying this for a while. By my calculations, at this rate, installing all the applications one by one and trying to restore all the data manually will take me about six years. I would finished just in time for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The main problem is, I don't know where all the bodies are buried. Just one example, I'm using Cornerstone for an svn client. I have working copies of multiple repositories on my computer. I really don't want to set them all up again, and I can't figure out where the Cornerstone preferences and all settings are stored. I couldn't find them in the Library anywhere.
    And that's just one case.
I haven't done much with my MacBook Pro yet, I think in retrospect the easiest course of action is to reinstall OS X as though it were new MacBook Pro, start from scratch, and use my Time Machine backup with the migration assistant and go from there.
And that's what I'm doing right now. I'm in the middle of reinstalling OS X.
Afterwords I'll use a clean app uninstaller application to get rid of all the applications that I'm not using. And I'll just hack away at directories that I know I haven't looked at for years, with the confidence that I have a backup both in Time Machine and in CCC and also on my iMac. That's three backups.
I would rather start out "light", but I can see it's just going to take forever and a day to get it done. Anyway, fortunately nothing is carved in stone, and I can always try again if I want to. But dealing with all the documents and all the applications one by one separately was just obviously going to take too much time.
I'll report back on my results. And I appreciate your suggestion.
    Doug

  • Voice sounds like chipmunks when I use my headphones, how can I fix that?

I have a MacBook Air and a Cinema display. Sound is fine but When I use my headphones for chat (YM), our voices sound like chipmunks. How can I fix this? I appreciate any help.

It is plugged-in. I tried it with several headphones and it still the same chipmunk voice. I even used my wireless headphones but no luck.

  • Logitec H360 USB headset  sound output

Macbook Pro, 10.8.3, 2.8 GHz, 2 core, 8 GB RAM, I am using Logitec H360 USB headset with Adobe Connect. Sound output is through built-in speakers and not the headset. The mic works ok. Correct setting in System Preference and Adobe Connect audio setup wizard. I have the same results with another Logitec headset. I can get headset output sound to work with a headset that has mini-plugs and a iMic adaptor.

    Just one thought...
IF there is a setting in the game where you can select the soundcard/audio out then you might just be able to route voice thru that and game sounds thru the soundcard.
I have used my usb headset for voice/talk and set the soundcard for all other audio.

  • Sound issue... no audio output from adobe premiere pro cs6

I can't get sound out of PremierPro CS 6. I can get audio to play through whatever device I choose from After Effects CS6 but not Premier. I uninstalled SoundFlower (a low-latency sonud bus system extension for OS X from cycling74.com) because someone suggested (some who was just guessing) that was causing the issue.
    There's a few weird clues:
As shown above the Master volume control in the Audio Midi Setup.app Built-in Output Tab is locked in the minimum -ve dB position.
As shown above there are seperate tabs for After Effects 11.0 since updated to After Effects 11.0.2 and Premier Pro 6.0., Selecting any of the devices doesn't seem to route audio to speakers nor headphones. I'm not sure if SoundFlower or Adobe or some other process created these tabs.
As shown above the Audio level slider for internal speakers in the Sound Preferences panel is greyed out in the max position and not adjustable.!
Have no idea what is going on, very frustrating! I have restarted OS X since uninstalling SoundFlower if that had anyhting to do with it (I doubt it did I've been using soundflower for years with no issues in loads of AV software).
I have sound 'appearing' in Premier and if I export a Render the audio comes with it and plays in QuickTime Player just not in PPro itself:

So it turned out to be a free/$1 application called SoundBunny. I obtained it from Other World Computing when I bought an SSD. Bunny me.
It allows you to mix the volume outputs of every app/process running on your Mac. Quite handy but I rarely use and at some time in the past must have faded FCP X and PremierPro to zero (probably trying to determine where some unidentified momentary but periodic sound was coming from. It turned out to be the notification bell in Gmail/Google Hangouts and I was binary switching apps volume on/off to trace it). Moral of story: turn down to 1 or 2 not zero you never know when you'll forget to turn back up.

  • IPhone Audio Output vs. MacBook Pro

I've been the owner of the Apple In-Ear Headphones for a while now, and have experienced an improvement in the sound quality between the in-ear and standard iPhone headphones.
However, I've recently been using the same in-ear headphones with my MacBook Pro, and noticed a significant difference in the quality, depth, and volume of the sound. When playing the same songs on my MBP, the headphones are capable of much louder volumes, much clearer audio, and are much bassier than when using my iPhone 3G S, yet the audio tracks are identical.
Is there any specific reason why my iPhone isn't capable of matching up to the quality of my MBP?
    Many thanks

I wanted to chime in after my latest show-down between my iPhone 5 vs. iPad 3 vs. MacBook Pro 2010.  My medium of choice is vinyl for hi-fi listening, but otherwise I prefer Spotify @ 320kbits.
I plugged them into my hi-fi system: rega brio-r amp, wharfedale diamond 10.1 speakers, standard [decent quality] 3.5mm to RCA cord to plug in each device.  No DAC in my setup. No cable splitting-- all directly plugged in.
I used the latest Arcade Fire album, Reflektor, 320kbits from Spotify.  I think the album has enough dynamic range to make it a good test subject.  I started the test on track 2, that song in particular having a lot of dynamism.
    The breakdown:
Iphone5 and iPad3 both sounded identical.  Everything sounded good on first pass until I plugged in the MacBook Pro.  The MacBook revealed an enormous difference in better audio quality!  The MacBook output crystal clear highs and the lows also had a "thump" that the iPhone/ipad did not have.  That difference right there showed that the MacBook is simply capable of handling a higher spectrum of sound.  With a higher spectrum, and the ability to differentiate the highs, mids, and lows helped give the sound much more dimension.
    Bottom line:
I wish I could turn back the clock on all those hours I spent listening to my iPhone.  Without a doubt, the MacBook Pro has a much higher quality audio output.  I think this is attributed to the fact that the MacBook actually has a SOUNDCARD while the iPhone/ipad both have like integrated circuit boards.  It's the dedicated soundcard on the MacBook that gives it its advantage.
To break it down to hi-fi thinking, when a stereo has separate modular components that are dedicated to doing 1 thing well, there is a better opportunity for higher quality sound.  That would be in comparison to an "all-in-one" unit that crams a lot of electronics into a single "stereo" system.  Generally, the overall quality of the "all-in-one" will be hampered by what are basically the limitations of engineering and production; each new component/feature they cram on the same circuit board compromises the overall integrity of the whole.  What I'm trying to say is that the MacBook is more like a modular setup with dedicated components, and the iPhone/ipad are the "all-in-one".

  • Audio stutters using FCP. Pro tools

I'm using an Apogee Quartet with my Imac, the audio will start cutting in and out while in a pro tools session and while using final cut pro.  it's random, so it's hard to detect.  ONce I was watching a movie and it started to do that as well, at first I thought it was because it was streaming too slow, but it wasn't...I've tried tech support, they aren't very helpful, they're nice, tho!  Anyone else having this issue?

    Hello,
I've also been having this problem and it's driving me crazy. So far Apogee tech support have not been able to solve it. The problem happpens irrespective of the DAW I'm using, and is intermittent. However, the audio drop outs/choppiness have been occurring much more frequently recently. The unit is becoming virtually unusable.
    iMac (27-inch, Late 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)
I will gladly share any insights if Apogee tech support manages to come through.

  • Audio output switches randomly (MacBook Pro 13" 2010)

    Hi,
I have recently bought my MacBook Pro. It works really good but unfortunately, there is a problem. When I'm listening to my music with my headphones (Koss Porta Pro), after about 20 minutes of listening, the sound keeps turning off and on. I found out that when this happens, the audio output randomly changes from Headphones to Digital output. When it switches, the sound is muted for a while. Really don't know how come is that. Could you please help me?
    Thanks for Your answers.

.....and then I blew into the headphone socket. Instant success with sound restored. I can only assume that some dust particle was in some way mechanically interfering with a switch?
