Audio paused when using Widget

Hi There,
I am using an acordion interaction/widget.  I have audio recorded at the slide level introducing the widget.  However, when I play the slide it immediately pauses and no audio is heard.
I take out the widget and the audio plays fine.  Does anyone know why the interaction/widget seems to be pausing the slide/audio?
Thanks so much,
Julie

I have a workaround: instead of using slide audio, try using the new command 'Play audio' on entering the slide. Audio will play in that case.

    Thanks for the reply Russ.
Yes, I've considered adding titles and/or generators in the FCPX storyline, but this creates a need to render the entire timeline. As I'm juggling library locations and hard drive spaces I just didn't want to add a new render that will occupy a lot of space. It's also a bit of visual clultter for me, so my goal is to find the best workflow for adding this stuff on or after export.

  • When converting from a .wav to a .mov is there a loss of audio quality when using QuickTime?

When converting from a .wav to a .mov is there a loss of audio quality when using QuickTime?

When converting from a .wav to a .mov is there a loss of audio quality when using QuickTime?
That would depend on your work flow. MOV is the generic QuickTime file container and is not related to any particular data compression format. If you perform a simple "Save" or "Save As..." action that merely copies the data in the WAV file to an MOV file, then the data remains unchanged and maintains its original quality. If, on the other hand, your transcode/re-compress the original data to a different compression format, then there is always the potential for some loss in quality. Depending on the codec and/or settings, the potential loss could be inaudible to severe.

  • Terrible audio interference when using isight

I started a new thread for this since the others were archived and not accepting further comments, even though the subject remains unresolved.
There is an incredible amount of audio interference when using the iSight in iMovie. The best way to describe it is as an electronic hiss that overshadows a voice or other audio subject. While the video is clear, the audio hiss prevents me from posting any videos on uTube or using them for any other purposes.
Any insight on the isight? Any recommendation for external usb mics that may help?

Thanks, Defcom. But I tried all different sorts of settings. I guess I can't assume that the tiny little mic and webcam could be of any good quality. At this point, I am taking suggestions for a good external usb stereo mic or webcam with built in stereo mic.

  • My iphone 5 has bad audio qualities when using the telephone properties: what solution was offered by apple or provider?

I have a new iphone 5 that has a very bad audio quality when using the basic telephone function. Both wen called or calling the conversation is either of quite poor quality or drops awau alltogether. The latter happens sometimes 5 times on a row during one conversation or better attempt to have one..:)
Who has similar problems and what has been the solution offered by apple or their provider?

I have the same issue with the following setup:
    Garmin 2597LMT
    iPhone 5
    Motorola T605 bluetooth hardsfree system
I ended up disabling the nuvi bluetooth -- I don't subscribe to any smartlink services -- so I'll guess i'll go without Weather on the nuvi for now.

  • USB Audio distorts when using Stanton T90

I have a Stanton T90 USB turntable that works ok with a PC.
However when used on my Mini Mac after a short time the audio starts distorting.
It seems to be application independent and in the logs I have seen:
Oct 30 23:22:01 Macintosh kernel[0]: WARNING: AppleUSBAudio has detected that a connected USB audio device is sending too much audio data.
Oct 30 23:22:01 Macintosh kernel[0]: WARNING: This USB audio device may not function properly. Please notify the device manufacturer.
Has anyone any ideas how to solve this?
    Yours
    Leon.

    Hello thanks for the feedback.
    I've 1Gb of RAM.
It happened when I only had my mouse and keyboard connected with nothing but Audacity running. However my mouse is connected via my Mac keyboard so I could try that on a separate port. From the error it appears that the USB port is not being read often enough.
Unfortunately it seems that Apple drivers can be just as prone to incompatibilities as Windows. You can find hundreds of articles about these issues with both Audio USB and Firewire devices.
My last step before throwing the turntable back at Stanton will be to reinstall my OS (Leopard) to see if an update has caused the problem.
    Yours
    Leon.

  • Serious audio static when using display or FireWire

I've got a strange issue with my Core Duo Mini (1.66GHz). When plugged in to my stereo using an RCA Y-splitter from RadioShack, there is static bad enough to drown out all the audio. This happens with any combination of audio cables I use, but does not happen with other computers plugged into the same outlets, or with headphones or portable, self-powered speakers.
So far I've survived using an AirPort Express, but decided that I've had enough of fiddling with audio delays in VLC when watching DVDs and tonight rewired everything. The buzz is still there.
What I inadvertently discovered is that if I leave my display (Apple 21" Studio CRT) and two FireWire hard drives unplugged, the static disappears.
I'm considering the purchase of a USB audio out device (such as the iMic), but would rather not spend more money on this.
    Thanks for any insights!

I've been having a similar problem where I'd get a low buzzing sound going to my self-powered speakers. After doing some research, I found that I'm just getting electrical interference from one of the devices in the chain. So the only solution for me was to get a Ground Loop Isolator which basically grounds the electrical interference in the wires before going to your stereo.

There are much cheaper versions at radioshack.com as well.
    I hope that helps.

  • Noise on audio output when using the power adapter

I'm a musician and use my mid-2007 MBP 15" in my live rig. When I use the power adapter, I hear a buzz, sometimes accompanied by a slightly louder buzz that cycles on & off about 1x/second. There are a few weird things going on here:
    1. The buzz does not happen all the time. That leads me to think it may be noise in the AC line that the adapter is plugged into.
    2. The noise is heard when I use both the built-in audio output AND an external USB audio interface.
In any case, when I disconnect the power adapter and run my MBP on battery, the noise goes away completely. I can probably do this on most gigs, but I'm a little nervous since I run a FW drive, an external USB audio interface, and my midi keyboard (powered by USB) so I am putting a little heavier than usual load on the MBP's battery.
As I said, this may be a noisy AC line. Another guess is that it's the PMU inducing noise into the audio circuitry. I'm hoping a simple AC line filter can help me but I thought I would ask here first in case anyone else has dealt with this. TIA for any help!

I had a similar problem and fixed it with a $5 universal travel adapter. Yours might be different but here's my situation. Try it for little cost and see if it works.
I'm also a muso with an iMac running external KRK speakers via USB Mbox2. Previously I had a Macbook Pro and the same audio problem. I've been putting up with a very low volume, high pitch noise until now. I simply plugged the Mac power cord into a universal travel adapter which then goes into the wall. For Aussie users there is an adapter on ebay that will allow a 3 pin Aussie plug to go into female side and has a two pin Aussie male on the other. For US users you can probably get the same although there is a 59c product that will do the trick called a ground lift adapter. Applecare actually agreed this was the best fix and confirmed there would be no problems with power supply or Mac performance. What a gem ! God knows I've looked into all kinds of alternatives that could have cost hundreds instead of $5.

  • Audio noise when using VGA   firewire

I am using a MBP 2010, purchased in August.  I am running ProTools and AbletonLive out to speakers through firewire via M-Audio Firewire 410 and/or through the Digi002 Mixer.  I have an external firewire hard drive that I have turned off during this problem, so it has not effect.
Additionally, I have an extra monitor connected via VGA to a miniDisplayPort>VGA connector.  When I plug this into the MBP I receive a lot of unwanted noise out of the speakers.  I have tried to unplug the power source to the MBP and the problem continues.  I have the option of trying a miniDisplayPort>DVI connector to the extra monitor, however I have to purchase that connector.
Has anyone encountered this problem?  Any suggestions on how to remedy it?  It is really difficult to do any audio work with the awful noise in the speakers, and while I can do with just the MBP monitor, it is nice to have a second monitor.
    Thanks

I have been dealing with this exact problem for years!
The noise is now doing my head in and I'd love to get it fixed.
Another thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1807161?start=0&tstart=0 suggested using a ground loop isolator. However, they were dealing with RCA connectors.
I am using a Fast Track MAudio Ultra 8r, with my Mac Book.
So I'm sure I could isolate the noise between the speaker and the sound card - but I would need to use XLR or TRS, which the thread also warns against using such a device.
(I used to own a Berhinger hum destroyer.
It worked a little, but not only did it seem make the signal sound thin, it also had Berhinger written on it.)
Both my HP w1907v display and my MAudio card are plugged into the same power supply.
(As are you, I'm converting mac minidisplay port to VGA.)
I'm starting to think it might have something to do with the cheap monitor.
What kind of monitor are you using?
Is it sharing the power source with the Digi 002?
Does the noise you hear also get affected by mouse movement?
Maybe you've found a solution already!?
If so I'd be very grateful to hear about it.

  • Audio error when using Narration in Premiere Elements 9

I am trying to help someone using Premiere Elements 9 (v. 9.0.1, up to date).  The details of the computer are:
Dell N5010 laptop, 64 bit, Win 7 Home Premium SP 1, Intel i5 2.67 Ghz processor, 6 GB RAM.
The user has created a video from both a Sony camcorder and jpgs from a DSLR.  No problems with the video.
The problem is adding narration.  The audio input is from a USB headset/mic.  The Premier Narration window is used:
    Window/Narration/Record Voices.
Every time the narration gets to approximately 6 minutes, an error occurs:
    \src\audiorender\audioprefetch.cpp-87 or
    \src\win\asiohost.cpp-903
A search of this forum and a Google search has not identified anything that I can identify as relevant.
    Can anyone help?

    twriterext
It looks like Hunt answered the same type of question a while back but the user never followed up re: \src\win\asiohost.cpp-903
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3308679
I worked with another user elsewhere with the same error message, and that turned out to be related to updating the audio card driver.
It is important to check out Edit Menu/Preferences/Audio Hardware ASIO settings and what is displayed for both Input and Output settings.
But, what I would really like to see is the screenshot of that Timeline when the error hits at your narration @ around 6 minutes, especially whats on any video tracks, audio tracks, and Soundtrack. Is the stop at about 30 seconds after the last clip on the tracks?
Looking forward to your follow up.
    Thanks.

  • Audio drops when using Three-Way Color Corrector in CS6

    Hello all,
I recently encountered a very odd issue while editing a friends wedding video using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.  I had an interview with a guest laid over a music track and had all the audio adjustments made to both audio tracks so that the levels were where I wanted them.  I then added the Three-Way Color Corrector to the video track and corrected the footage to my liking.  When I played back this section of the wedding video, half way through the person's interview, his audio cut out.  The audio from the music track was still playing, so it was not that audio drop that most people are familiar with within Premiere.  I even muted the music track and played back the mentioned section of video and at the same exact point in time his audio just cuts out completely.  I checked to see if any weird key frames had been added and nothing had been touched (that I could see).  Also, the audio waveforms were still visible.  I deleted the Three-Way Color Corrector effect off of the clip and suddenly there were no more audio problems.  Eventually, needing color correction, I added an adjustment layer and assigned the Three-Way Color Corrector to that and had no issues, but I still don't see what could have been the problem, and it seems like a glitch to me.  Has anyone ever had this happen to them?  If so, what are your thoughts?  Thanks!

The help does not tell you where the Tonal Range output now is as it has moved from the Output Menu.

  • Packet loss / pausing when using 802.11N (Intel 6300)

    Hi,
Previously, I had posted a thread involving the Intel 6250, and lack of detection of N WiFi on that card. Some time later, I bit the bullet and got an Intel 6300 card off eBay. After receiving it today, I popped it into my Thinkpad X220, and it worked.... sort of. I can definitely see wireless N support, and can associate with my 2.4 GHz mixed-mode B/G/N network at 130 Mbps, and my 5 GHz N-only router at around 243 - 270 Mbps. However, right off the bat, it seems the number of "Tx Excessive Retries" in iwconfig climb up to several thousand within ~ 15 - 20 minutes of connecting. Also right off the bat, pings are rather inconsistent (typically at least 2 ms greater than when the card is forced to work in G-only mode, and with pauses and spikes up to 800 - 2000 ms, and packet loss from 5 - 10%)
From what I have gathered so far, there has been a bug in the iwlwifi kernel tree that affects N wireless users, and this bug has been around since around 2010 or even earlier. However, I was under the impression that some sort of fix has been merged into the mainline Kernel at this point (I'm on 3.5.3-1-ARCH BTW), and my symptoms are somewhat less aggressive than the ones others described (basic web browsing works reasonably well, though there is often noticeable lag in the response times, but anything latency/packet loss-sensitive will suffer in a major way.) Has anyone managed to get wireless N to actually work reasonably well on Arch (or for that matter, ANY linux distro)? As I understand it, the matter is one of relation to the kernel module itself, so distro-distro variations of userspace apps shouldn't be as much a factor anyway. I am using WICD for my network manager, and am happy to say that it does its job admirably well (assuming the card is set to G-only mode, but the connection itself is actually maintained quite stably even in N mode.)
While I understand that the 11n_disable=1 "fix" allows most people to get on with their lives, I am rather alarmed that this is being considered a long-term solution. Many laptop owners (ThinkPad owners like myself for example) are essentially locked into Intel WiFi cards, unless we are willing to take an expensive risk and flash our BIOS to one that that doesn't have a "whitelist" of approved cards (something that can void the warranty or worse, brick a laptop.) All the while, Intel is still claiming Linux support for a card whose major capabilities are essentially neutered purely based on the OS a user chooses to run (yes, I do consider N to be a major capability, considering 300 Mbps N WiFi is basically old news, with many manufacturers coming out with full 450 Mbps routers. Also, chipsets like Atheros seem to have no problems with offering both performance and stability under Linux... my desktop rig using an Atheros card manages perfectly fine on a full-rate wireless-N network with essentially no packet loss or latency spikes.)

I have an ASUS UX32VD-DB71 which has the Intel Centrino 6235 wifi card. I've been having this laptop for more than 6 months and I've tried different solutions to fix the issue with Wireless-N but none of them were stable other than disabling N completely using 11n_disable=1
I've tried different kernels all the way from 3.2 to the latest 3.7 series of kernels (both in the openSUSE tree as well as mainline) with no luck whasoever. I also tried installing the compat-drivers from 2013-01-23-1-u version onto my 3.6 kernel which provided the same results too. I see packet loss with N and the G speeds are just too slow. I have a workstation in my network and I can only transfer effectively at 1.5 MB /s max over G whereas an old laptop from 2007 which has an 1x1 MIMO antenna (again Intel though) can connect at 144 Mbps to my router and transfer files at least 3-4 times faster (if not more).
It is totally unacceptable for Intel to not just fix this issue for Linux.

  • Freezing or Long Pauses when using Phone

I am noticing that when I go to use my phone for email and TM , sometimes it stalls in the process of processing a letters entry, somtimes it completely stays frozen.
any ideas or ways to eliminate this ?
Is the phone flawed or is it defective?

I've noticed that my iPhone bogs down some at times when receiving email including the keyboard - especially when receiving a number of messages and if any of the messages include an attachment or attachments of any significant size.
When responding to a post here on my iPhone when connected via EDGE before the page completely loads, the keypad will have some pauses which goes away after the page has completely loaded.
I suggest trying a Reset, which is done by pressing and holding the Home button and Sleep/Wake or On/Off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release - ignoring the slide to turn off prompt when doing so.
