Audio pauses/stops on lockscreen / homescreen

When Safari is playing an embedded quicktime audio file, the sound is fading to mute when I close the smart cover. Also when I press the power button, the sound also mutes. When I then press the home button to view the lockscreen, the play button does not seem to do what it should. The music does not. When I unlock the ipad using my secret code, the music starts playing again.
This is very recent behaviour becasu I listen to long music pieces and church services and I would like to close the smart cover to save some power. That is the same reason why my ipad auto locks after a few minutes of idle time.
What am I doing wrong and how can I get the old behaviour back, so that my iPad still plays music in the background, while the cover is closed. This is the main function of my iPad and I have worked like this for as long as the iPad 3 exists. It has all the latest ios 7 updates.
Please help. I would hate it having to by another brand tablet for only this bug.
With kind regards,
Willem Dankier

Another quick addition: I just installed Chrome, and it works like a charm. So the problem is Safari. So for now using Chrome. But I hope I can remove it very soon...

  • Audio randomly stops working

My mac mini's (OSX 10.5.8) audio always stops suddenly to work, either if I'm watching a video on youtube, playing the iPod connected to the computer or listening to music on iTunes. Both the speakers and the built-in audio output stop working.
I have to plug out and in the speakers, pause and play the music, give it a break (haven't figured out the exact ritual yet), and then after a while it comes back to life.
What should I do to get it back to normal?
    Thanks,
    Rodrigo

    Hi Rodrigo,
Long shot, but next time it happens...
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.

  • Having trouble pausing a slide with audio paused

Hi, I have a slide with audio.  I have a hyperlink on this slide, and I would like the slide to pause if someone clicks the hyperlink, then keep playing when the viewer presses the "play" button again.  If the viewer does NOT click the hyperlink, I'd like the slide to play as normal.  I can easily get the audio to stop playing when the hyperlink is clicked, but the slide itself keeps playing sans audio, and the next slide then comes up without the audio ever restarting.  Can someone tell me how to conditionally pause the slide when a hyperlink is clicked?  Thank you!

Did you remove the "Continue playing project" from your click box properties? Right next to the URL is a button with a small triangle on it. If you click that you can define how to open up the URL (new window, current window etc.). At the bottom of that list you need to remove the tick in front of "Continue playing project".

  • Audio wont stop

I created an org chart. When you click on each of the boxes in the org chart a callout pops up with audio describing the position. If you switch between each box the audio stops on the previous and starts on the current. The audio doesn't stop however if I move to the next slide. How do I fix that? I've tried stop triggered audio, pause etc. Nothing seems to work

Normally audio should stop when object is hidden. How do you move to the next slide, is it just because the playhead reaches the end of the slide or do you use a Next button?
If it is the first scenario (playhead reaches end of slide), create a standard advanced action that hides the object (or the group of objects, if you are not sure which one will be visible) and trigger that action On Exit. The hide action is not available for On Exit as simple action.
If you use a Next button, trigger that Hide command together with the Go to Next Slide command by creating another advanced action. If you are on CP8, I recommend creating shared actions, you can reuse them more easily

  • IPod touch (1st gen) audio pauses, won't power off, invisible in iTunes

For about a week now, my iPod touch (1st generation, iOS 3.1.3) has been acting funny. When I plug it in to my MacBook (OS X 10.6.5), iTunes (10.1, 54) does not recognize the device, the wireless signal indicator does not show at all, the battery meter is incorrect, the audio pauses randomly, and I cannot turn off the device (by holding down the sleep button for 10 seconds and then sliding the "Slide to power off" control). I am able to force a power off by holding down the sleep button and the home button simultaneously for about 10 seconds. After a manual power down, things are normal again, but the iPod touch reverts to the same weirdness after a few hours. Any ideas?

Ever since I uninstalled the TGI Black Friday app (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tgi-black-friday/id335329737?mt=8), things are back to normal now. Very strange.

  • Why does my playhead return to the initial position when pausing/stopping playback after playing from beginning?

How do I prevent the playhead from returning to it's original position after pausing or stopping with the spacebar or k button?  With either the skimmer on or off, whenever I pause or stop the **** playhead will always return to the position it was last at.  I don't understand why neither of the shortcuts would just stop the playhead at the point that is being played at.  This may seem like an extremely edgy way to go about editing, but I might actually wish to pause the playhead at any given moment and position my playhead nearby said moment before creating an edit point (without having to add a marker and return to it with the blade tool, or take note of the specific duration and use the duration control to go to that specific point or any other unnecessary steps when doing a rough cut).  I simply would like the playhead to pause/stop at the moment I press either keyboard shortcut.  After the many attempts at trying to make FCP X work for me and the many "workarounds" by FCPX enthusiasts, it's disheartening to know that most other editors in my circle who make a living doing paid commercial work are wondering why I've decided to take a break from using CS6 (and it's integration with the industry-standard AE) to give FCP X a shot, all to make very simple tasks like the one aforementioned a mystery...  any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your response Luis and for your previous help (regarding multiple selections being added to the timeline in reverse order when working in list view in the event browser).
Yes i've trashed my preferences, but I should be more specific as to what I am actually doing.  Because I am working from my macbook pro and do not have a "home button" which was the original shortcut to "play from/go to beginning" and because I did not like the replacement shortcut in FCP X to play from beginning (without a home button it was something like Function + Shift something else on a laptop) I became used to Adobe Premiere CS6 and made the return key my "play from beginning" shortcut.  It was available and did not have a use by itself (only to confirm changes/choices), did not effect it's use in conjunction with other shorctus so I choose enter as my "play from/go to beginning"...
So when I play from the beginning and attempt to pause or stop the playhead, regardless of how I choose to do it (spacebar or k) it does not stop at that specific instance and always returns to where it previously was.  This seems very confusing and inconvenient, I would hope at least one of these shortcuts would actually stop the playhead where it was at that moment where I press stop or pause.  It's extremely frustrating knowing that I cannot pause the playhead where it's playing if I choose my "play from beginning" shortcut.
Also since you seem to be a guru and an expert, i'd like to know if you cut with FCPX on a laptop and what shortcut you use whenever you'd like the playhead to go to the beginning of the timeline, end, etc since there are no "home" or "end" buttons on a laptop....
    Thanks a million, talk soon...

  • How to pause/stop updates from App Store on iPad?

Currently, I am on holiday making use of a prepaid mobile Internet connection. By accident I pushed the button "Update All" in the App Store.
Then it started downloading 18 apps and consumed more then many MB's in just a few minutes. My prepaid Internet is just 2GB for a month.
Now because of this within 2 days I consumed 1.1GB. After my error by pushing the wrong button, it could not be stopped what so ever.
This is very annoying and cost me in 10 mins at least 20 Euro's. Why does Apple not support a pause/stop button? Or did they just forget to include this button in their App Store app? I was pretty up-sat. You recognize you pushed to wrong button, you see all the apps starting downloading loads of MB's. but you cannot find any button to stop it. You can't do anything about it and just let it happen and hope the damage is not too high.
Please Apple, develop a pause/resume/cancel button in the App Store when someone accidentally pushed the "update all" button !!!!
    Many thanks in advance.
    With kind regards,
    Jan van Duuren

  • Getting Audio to stop when swiping within an article?

I have an audio clip that a user can play on a particular page within an article. I'd like the audio to stop playing if the user decides to continue on in the article (swiping down, not left or right). Is this possible? Selecting "stop audio on page turn" only stops it when swiping left or right to the next or previous article.
Has anyone found a fix for this?
    Thanks,
    Christopher

if you autokplay a transparent & silent audio of only one secnd any other
audio/video stops because the iPad can only play one media at a time.

  • USB audio DAC stops working after suspend

I didn't update my mediacenter running arch for a few months so I figured i'd reinstall it because of the filesystem, /lib and grub changes. Now after reinstalling I'm running into the issue that my USB audio DAC stops working after a suspend.
After a suspend speaker-test gives me the following error:
    [user@mediacenter ~]$ speaker-test -c 2
    speaker-test 1.0.25
    Playback device is default
    Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels
Using 16 octaves of pink noise
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1068:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
Playback open error: -77,File descriptor in bad state
I've tried replugging my DAC and restarting ALSA, without any success. I have to reboot to get sound again.

Yes I am suspecting the kernel as well. I'll try to change some options in XBMC to maybe get this working, and if not I'll see how far I can downgrade with the kernel. My last installation was a few months old so I hope it broke not that long ago.

  • Audio recording stops after a few seconds on iPad 1. Any suggestions?, Audio recording stops after a few seconds on iPad 1. Any suggestions?

On an IPad 1 even after a full restart, and only application running, I'm finding that Audio recoding stops after a few seconds. The duration seems to be fairly random between 5 seconds to 25 seconds. Creating other tracks seems OK.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

I've seen this issue in the past.  I think it is connected to the operating system itself.  I say this because I reinstalled the os using itunes and then restored a backup.  Then garageband started behaving again.  Then the issue came back - after I did an os update.  So I'd try reverting back to a fresh version of the latest os, and then restoring your apps using a backup.
    Hope it helps

  • Using default CS5 skin, play/pause & stop buttons disabled until going fullscreen

We are using default CS5 skins with an flvplayback component built through action script 3.  When playing certain videos (and only certain videos, however there isn't yet a pattern), the play/pause, stop & seek buttons are completely unresponsive.  They don't change stats on hover & they are unclickable.
However, the fullscreen button does always work, and upon going fullscreen and coming back out, the buttons now work again.
I really have no idea what is going on here, it seems rather random.  So far, the problem was seemingly at its worst displaying a video that was encoded with Sorenson spark (an older codec) and we wondered if it had to do with the file itself, the headers, anything of that sort.  But the fact that the skin and buttons work fine once entering and exiting fullscreen - that is perplexing.

Just an update, but the following line:
    my_FLVPlybk.scaleMode = "noScale";
Has something to do with the issue.  When we include this line (which tells the player to resize to the size of the given FLV), we get the problem with the buttons not working.  If we take the line out, we do not see that problem.
