Audio picked up by DMM

Hi All
On a test run with DMP, I realised that for some reason a phone conversation was picked up on one of my presentations.
I definitley did not record it and found that it was linked to a video which was playing on the presentation.
The video was already previously saved from a number of weeks ago. I recently did a trial run with the unit hooked up to a TV and while I was running this trial a conversation that was ongoing in the background seems to have been copied. I have no idea why this happened or how!
Has anyone ever experienced something similar?
Cheers
J

J.
Try downloading the content in question to an external server and
use an external player (VLC) to see if the audio has the phone
conversation in it.
The DMP does not have recording features so the video would
not be altered.  You may want to disable the wireless interface
on the DMP to avoid any wireless interference.

  • Auto schedule pick an instrument multiple dmm

    hi
I am trying to use the test stand auto scheduler
I have a test setup with 2 DMMs of the same model. I don't really mind which DMM I use for measuring a voltage since they will be connected to the DUT via a matrix switch.
I have written a sequence which will be re-used over and over on multiple DUTs and it requires access to a DMM.
Can test stand automatically pick a free DMM and switch it through to the test point I need? or do I need to specify which DMM I want to use?
    Any ideas?

A lot of these questions will become answered as you become more familiar with TestStand.
However, let me see if I can try to answer them here:
Each VI is set up to call the different DMMs.  So that is not a problem.  The key is knowing which one to call.  This is done using the Preconditions and Pre Expressions for each of the steps.  You can see that the preconditions are set to look at the acquired resource.  This way you know which step to call.  Also you could set the switching for those steps to use the correct paths through you switch matrix as well.  This is where it gets tricky though because you have to make sure that a path for DMM1 will never conflict with a path for DMM2.  Because if they do then you cannot have 2 DMMs.
If you look at the Use Auto Scheduled Resource step for the DMM section you will notice that it identifies 2 resources.  By the very nature of how autoscheduling works when you declare 2 like that only 1 has to be used in order for that testsocket to satisfy that section.  Any of the resources scheduled in the auto scheduler are actually "soft" resources.  This means that they just exist in software.  Even though you have hardware physically out there the soft resources are just used to lock so threads don't tromp on each other.
TestStand knows that the DMM is available because another thread has released that soft resource.  And then the testsocket just grabs whichever one is available.
The NI TestStand Reference Manual should help you out.  There is a section on page B-25 which talks about Auto Scheduling.
Also, not sure if this example helps out either:

Hopefully this helps.   It's kinda hard to explain I wish there was more documentation out there for this.
Let me know if you still need further clarification.

  • How to use two audio souces in one multicam clip

I have a three cameras, and an additional audio source.  Making the multicam clip with of the four elements was easy, however I would like to use both the audio from two different sources at the same time.  Is this possible?  I know about switching the audio from one source to the other, but in some cases, I have talent on stage left and on stage right, and I need the audio pick up from both regardless of the video angle.

You can do it this way.
In the multicam select audio to left clip.
Then find the right clip, detach its audio, take its audio & align it to the multicam clips.
This way you have audio from let & right

  • IPod Video/Audio problems

i have a 60gb video ipod and have converted seinfeld episodes off dvds. i used videora ipod converter to convert the video to H264 256kbps video and 96kbps audio. When i play any episode the video and audio will work for about 30 seconds, then it pauses fills the cache and the video starts playing again but without audio. if i fastforward or rewind the video and audio pick up again for 30 seconds until the process repeats. how do i fix this ANNOYING problem? thanks
      Windows XP Pro

I have just encountered the very same problem. I have a 60Gb iPod video and have spent days converting a lot of my videos (mostly Japanese Anime) to iPod. They all worked perfectly on last week. However, last night I started watching an episode and after about 30 seconds the video freezes. It starts again about 5 seconds later, but with no sound. If I rewind or fast forward a bit, the sound comes back, but it freezes again shortly after. I started to think "what have I done to the iPod since last week?". It was then that I remembered updating the firmware to 1.1. I put 2 and 2 together and thought "maybe other folk are having this problem too", so I decided to check the support page here.
I am far from happy about re-encoding over 250 episodes of Anime, so ideally, I want the ability to re-install 1.0 firmware on the iPod. Surely this must be possible! If anyone can provide a link to the 1.0 Updater or to more information on this subject... that would be great, cos right now, my iPod is pretty much... useless!
    Thanks

  • Audio present in exported AVI form, dissappears with export to DVD (HELP!)

Hi, I have this incredibly strange audio problem that I can't figure out.
Basically, my audio works fine in Premiere, and in whatever form it is exported in. As soon as that file is uploaded to either youtube or burned to a disc in dvd video form, I almost completely lose my sound. There is a little bit of audio present, but mostly in the form of a very low buzz. If I crank the sound to the maximum, I can just barely hear dialogue, but there is almost no way to distinguish what is being said.
The following can help narrow things down:
    PC Specs:
    Vista 64 bit
    Intel Quadcore 2.4ghz
    4gb RAM
    8800GTS 512mb
    Onboard Audio
I recently wrapped up on a short film in which we shot on a Sony HDR-FX1 camera. We used an audio-technica shotgun mic and a separate wired mic. The wired mic works fine when put on a dvd, but the audio picked up by the shotgun mic does not. The onboard microphone works as well. In one particular instance, we used a different Panasonic camera in combination with the shotgun mic. THIS specific audio works fine on the DVD. Remember that all of the audio plays back perfectly in Premiere, Encore, and in any exported video/audio format.
Things I've tried, with no avail:
    - Turning dB up to an absurd amount
    - Exporting solely audio, then brining it back onto the timeline
    - Exporting in various video formats, i.e flash, quicktime, etc.
    - Exporting with various audio setups (though not everything)
What is going on here? I have to have this footage prepped by Thursday, and this audio problem is posing a serious problem. If you need ANY more information, let me know. I'd appreciate any and all help. Thank you!

I encoded using Adobe Encore 1.5, then created a standard VIDEO_TS file that I burned to a Philips DVD-R disc using a third party program called "DVD Blaster". I was having some difficulties getting the one within Nero and Encore to work, so I used a free trial of said program. I'm by no means an audio aficionado, but I believe Encore is indicating that it encodes the audio as Dolby Digital. My burner burns as 16x.
I played the DVD through my computer, and it works fine. I played it through an XBOX 360 and it didn't work. I just now tried it in my Toshiba upconvert player and it worked! Interesting. The Toshiba connects through my TV via HDMI, then a standard red-white composite audio cable connects it to my receiver. The 360 connects directly to the receiver via an optical cable. Currently, I only have the center, right, and left channels connected. There are no rear speakers.
Let me know if you need anything else. I appreciate the help.

  • Internal mic does not pick up voice

Hi everyone, I tried looking this question up but most people's problem was related to skype.
I noticed my internal mic was not working when I tried to record a video in photobooth and the only audio picked up was the inverted and dull clicking of keys. My voice was totally absent. I tried opening garage band like I saw suggested online and made sure the preferences was set to internal mic, nothing.
This problem definitely occurred after upgrading to OS mavericks by the way. What should I do?

I just got off the phone with Apply support and they told me that the jack is different on the iPhone 4, both from a hardware perspective and a software perspective. I guess any accessory cables you have that work on the 3G series of phones may or may not work on the 4. That *****.

  • FCE audio mixdown

    Hello,
I am using Final Cut Express HD 3.5.1 and I need to do an audio mixdown. The tracks in my final package must look like this
    Video
    Audio 1 - nat sound/untranslated interviews
Audio 2 - commentary mixed with audio 1 plus translated interviews
using final cut express, can't find where or how to do an audio mixdown between audio 1 and 2...I'm always left with nat sound on one and commentary on 2. How can I mix these together on to a 3rd track while keeping nat sound on 1?
Hope this is clear and many thanks in advance for any tips
    Greg

    Hi Tom
I will be shooting a sequence using a Z1 camera and editing using FCE.
Once edited, I will have audio picked up from the camera mic and interviews done using a hand mic on audio track 1.
On track 2, I will be laying down commentary to coincide with the video and voiced translations of the interviews where necessary.
On track 3, I need to have an audio mix of track 1 and 2.
Currently, if I listen to either 1 or 2 then I only hear the sound from that track. I need it mixed commentary and nat sound on one single track.
Hope this is clearer and thanks for your time

  • MSI GS70 2PE - Stealth Pro | Audio Drivers / Microphone Issue

So i bought the gs70 stealth pro a few days ago and when i went on skype for gaming, i noticed my headset #1 mic was not working properly. The audio picked up on the mic is extremely low even when i tampered with the microphone boost.
Headset #1: Steelseries Siberia V2 Edition
Headset #2: Steelseries Siberia v2 Edition (neckband)
First i restarted my pc but that didnt do a thing.
I thought my headset broke so I used headset #1 on a different laptop (SONY VAIO), which is four years old.
headset #1's mic was working fine on my old laptop.
Then I tried using headset #2 on msi gs70 and it was working. a few hours later, i started playing csgo with my friends. they said they could barely hear me so i talked louder however that didnt do anything. it seems as though headset #2 was undergoing the same problem as headset #1.
I went onto the Realtek website to download the latest driver. I installed it, restarted pc and it didnt work.
I thought maybe it was not the correct audio driver so i went onto MSI's driver page, inputted all the information for my laptop and downloaded the correct drivers. After the installation, it still didnt work.
So then i deleted the realtek audio driver and tried both headsets.
Headset #1's mic was not working properly however headset #2's mic is fine.
I have no idea what the problem is other than the microphone input jack being messed up.
I am no expert when it comes to computer hardware. Please help.

Yes, the FAQ is for Apache not the stealth, just wonder if you experience the same problem. Anyway, try to unchecked the exclusive mode under advanced tab of microphone properties and chat with your friend in game again. Hop this could help you out. I google for a while and one guy fixed it up by unchecked the exclusive mode. Do not know if this applies to you since I unchecked it and chatted with my friend by skype, he barely heard me. But it would be ok if I ticked off exclusive mode. Strange.

  • Batch Capture - Ingesting Footage of a Public Hearing

I have a unique video verité project and I'm trying a unique approach to the Log and Capture process for it, and I'm asking for a little advice...
On Thursday, I was recruited to record a nearly-five-hours-long public meeting at which over 150 people spoke. (1,200 in attendance) Fortunately, the meeting had a pro-grade P.A. system, and the hosts offered a box to plug in for audio pick ups on the P.A., so I used my wireless mic system to feed the speakers' voices directly into my new Canon Vixia HV 40 camcorder; I recorded the whole thing in HDV onto 5 tapes. The audio was clear as a bell. This project has a vaguely C-SPAN feel to it.
Now comes the challenge. This was a non-stop, live-on-tape meeting. The only time I stopped was the switch to newer cassettes. The organization I am helping asked me to find a way to ingest this footage as quickly as possible, figure out how to get it onto regular DVD media, and ship it out to a couple of volunteer organizations so that people can digest the proceedings and get organized for future plans. There is no time for frills or FX or anything but a plain brown wrapper on these DVDs.
I switched my HV 40 over to output down-converted DV streams. I started up Final Cut Pro 7 (I previously used FCP 4.5 on other projects) and got the log-and-capture process going. One thing I noticed during the Log and Capture process on the first tape:
I decided to Log the video using the Batch Capture process. All five 60 minute tapes have been thoroughly logged now. I wanted to use Batch Capture so that it would be easier to isolate individual speakers by clip if necessary; I logged consecutive back-to-back clips of four speakers apiece on each of the tapes, each tape is logged to a different logging bin for better organization. (The logged clips are each typically 8 minutes duration.) I intend to make sequences in Final Cut, each sequence will be a different DVD disc (Disc 1 of 3, for example) and I will insert the clips consecutively into the Timeline to form a complete show.
During the Logging process, I noticed something odd: doing everything on the fly, one clip will end on a specific frame and the next logged clip will begin on the very same frame as the previous clip ended. Shouldn't consecutively logged-on-the-fly clips with an end point followed by the beginning of the next clip on the next frame afterwards? Should I adjust the clip frame-times in the Browser by offsetting them by one frame to make them flow properly?
    Thanks in advance,
    --WA
[NOTE: 5 tapes used, 5 logging bins logged, meeting was just over 4.5 hours in length.]

Since saving time is essential in this case, I would have logged each tape as one clip, captured that tape and move on to the next. Drop two full clips in one Sequence for DVD 1, play out the Timeline to a stand-alone DVD recorder in real time, and move on to the next one.
Once they had their 'no frills' DVDs, you could then go back and make subclips of each speaker if needed.

  • The new iTunes update mutes the volume when movies are played in full screen.  Help?

Yep.  After installing 11.1.3, the audio of a movie in iTunes when you switch to full screen plays for a fraction of a second and then goes off.  I can play other things in the background (Pandora, ANYTHING with volume) and the volume for those is fine.  Full screen iTunes, however, is muted.  Furthermore, when I switch from full screen to regular, the audio picks up where it was BEFORE full screen mode and is out of sync until I quit out of the movie and reopen it.
Is this a new 'feature' setting or has the update given us some fun errors and bugs free of charge?

Thanks for your reply AppleMan1958. Unforunately the playback problem was only experienced in the project described, - all other projects played fine....and I tried a lot of different ways to do it...so I really believe the whole project, including the playback (which did not work in the editing window in the right hand corner either, -nothing was shown there and the red marker line would not move across the project) just suddenly become totally corrupt...However, after deleting the project as described above and installing imovie11 I have done the whole thing over again and completed the project without problems this time.
But thanks for the tip anyway!

  • Zen V Plus - track seek times completely screwed

When seeking within an audiobook track, the time index on screen will advance to whatever I command it, but the actual audio WILL NOT advance-- when I let go the joystick to resume playing, the audio picks up from right where I initially pressed the joystick!
This bug has manifested itself in the bookmark function too. It allows me to set a bookmark, but when I select the bookmark, it resumes playing from somewhere totally different than where I set the bookmark.
This is an mp3 format file, windows explorer reports it as 28Kbps file. If it is a standard bitrate and not variable, why should I be having this problem? Any ideas how I can fix this?
    thanks

I'll try to answer your questions:-. Using XP (home edition) SP 22. Using ZenV Plus, 2 gb2.a? Have used Creative Media, Windows Media Player, but prefer Overdri've Media Console (simpler, faster, great)3. Have never tried to load books from another computer.4. Do not purchase or rent books. I get them all from library.4.a. I have used Net Library but get most of them through SEO Library Consortium. That's where I downloaded the Overdri've Media Console software from.5. They are regular "audio" books, recorded on tracks. I have gotten some with as many as 3 tracks. I think the track sizes generally must correlate to the size/capacity of a CD.6. I believe they have all been wma format and they are "licensed" to you for a specific period, just like when you check them out from any library. I had the same problem with keeping up with the story line at first until I figured out the navigation and particularly the "seek" and "bookmark" functions.
Time bar:? The time shown on the left is the time that has elapsed in that particular track, and the time shown on the right is the time that is left on that track. Seek:? When you access the "seek" function, you then have to hold the joystick button to the left (back) or right (forward) position until you get to your desired?time mark on the bar. When you start it goes slow and the longer you hold it in that position, the faster it moves. As soon as you let go of it, it stops moving and if that is where you want to start listening, you push "in" on the button to start the play from that point. You cannot seek either backward or forward into another track. You can only seek within that specific track. Bookmark:? When you are at a point where you want to set a bookmark, it is best to pause the playback and then set your bookmark. When you select the bookmark function you will get a screen where you can set multiple bookmarks and you would use the navigation button to select the bookmark position you want to use. Then you would push the navigation button in to set the bookmark in that position. When you want to go back to that place in your book, you go to Music Library>bookmarks and select which bookmark position you want to go to. TRICKY PART:? Normally, you would see the Track # in the upper LH of the display, but if you are playing from a bookmarked position, the player will display the Bookmark Position # instead. The?name of the book will scroll across the display and show the actual track number, but depending on how long the name of the book is, your display may black out before?it gets to the track #. The time line at the bottom of the display will show your?position in the actual track?where the bookmark was placed. The playback will continue until the time line reaches the end of that track and will then stop. To?continue the book from that point, you have to go back to the track listing and start the playback on the next track. Navigation General:?If you push the?joystick button to the left or right?and hold it, while in any track or bookmark, it will almost do the same thing as seek, except that as soon as you let go of it, it will start playback whereas with the seek function, it will just stop and you have to push in on the button to start the playback. Also, just like the seek function, it will only go back to the beginning or forward to the end of that particular track. If you quickly flick the joystick button to the right or left, instead of holding it, it will advance to the next track, wither back or forward.
    Hope this helps some!

  • Video freezing up after pause or rewind, Apple TV 3, iTunes 11.0.1

While watching a HD tv show in H.264/MPEG-4 AVC format, I paused and hit the back button to try to hear some talking that was quiet, the video froze and the display was black. The audio picked up without any issues. Scrolled forward and back. Skipped ahead & back. No video. Restarted with no improvement. Restored back to factory & nothing helped. Took the file and deleted from iTunes, emptied trash. Restarted Macbook Pro & iTunes. Reinstalled video file from external drive back into iTunes and I expected everything to now work fine. WRONG! I could start the show from the beginning and watch, but as soon as I scrolled forward and / or back, no video, just audio. No idea what to try. I have a few other movies & TV shows in iTunes. Now sure whats going on, but I'm afraid to pause or scroll during a show for fear that i'll loose the ability to view the show. Really need some help or advice on this one. My unit is just out of warranty, go figure!

Some additional information. I can play the videos that will not play in Itunes with QuicktimePlayer 10.2 (603.6)
But in itunes they will not play. Additionally these same videos cannot be put on my Ipad. For the same crazy reason in the Subject.
A fix for this will be good apparently this has been happening to others for the past month.

  • Problem with Closed Captioning

I'm using Cp 5.5.  I have a click box that's set to Open Url or file.  I have selected the options to open the new url in a new window, and I've de-selected the checkbox to Continue playing the project.  So when the user clicks the click box, a new window opens with the linked-to web page, and the main project, including the audio, pauses.  So far, so good.  But the problem is with the closed captioning.  If the closed captioning is turned on, it acts as if the audio has not paused (even though it has), and when the audio would have finished, the closed captioning goes away.  When the user returns to the main project and clicks the Play/Pause button in the playbar, the audio picks up where it paused, but the closed captioning has already disappeared for that slide.
Is this a bug?  Has anyone else seen this behavior?
    Thanks for any insights.
    Mister C.

There have previously been some discussions here and on other forums on CC issues and my understanding is:
    1) the SD STB (QIP2500) does not support CC. What you are seeing is your TV interpreting the CC data, not the STB. So if something is being dropped, it is the TV doing it, not the STB, or maybe the characters really are not there.
    2) The HD STBs do support CC. I have seen some complaints here and on other forums about the text not remaining on the screen long enough; I do not use CC myself, but I have turned it on and off a number of times, and my HD DVR seems to leave it up a reasonable amount of time, but that is just my impression.
There is no software upgrade available for now that I know of. There is supposed to be a new level later this year with new functions and fixes, I have no idea whether there is going to be anything in it that would address your CC issues.
Hope this maybe helps a little bit.

  • Microphone doesn't work while recording video

Hi everyone. I have an iPhone 5, and yesterday while trying to make a Vine while using the front-facing/FaceTime camera, I discovered that it didn't pick up any sound. However if I switch to the main camera (the HD one on the back), audio picks up and can be heard. This is a problem when I'm recording regular video too. Microphone works with the back camera, doesn't work with the front. Is there any way to fix this?
    Thanks!

My iPhone 4S fails and works exactly the same every time:
FAILS, with the phone on speaker, or with the camera recording video (front or back) no sound is captured.
WORKS, in all other situations and apps that I could think of that use the microphone such as
google, Voice Memo, Dragon Dictation, Vonage Extensions, Skype, and taking the phone OFF speaker holding the phone to my ear.  And also select microphone key to voice input instead of typing whenever the keyboard is there (Mail, Notes, Reminders, Safari, Maps, google Maps, ...)
Based on that, my guess is it's not hardware.
I'm using a 4S (64GB) from Verizon. In the nearby Verizon store I was told to back it up, do a master reset (which wipes out the phone), and restore it from the backup.  I called Verizon support today before doing this and got exactly the same instructions.  That's what I did today and NOTHING GOT BETTER.
After reading several discussion boards I made sure that I was not blocking any of the holes (trying to be thorough). I do not use a cover.

  • Stuttering in CD Playback

Okay, so everytime I try to play a CD in iTunes, it stutters like crazy. When I import files, they seem all right, but if I try to play them directly off the disc, they don't work. It's really weird, considering playing CDs in other applications such as Winamp and Windows Media Player is perfectly fine.
I've tried the Quicktime Waveout trick, but it's still not working. Can anyone help?

If you have not already fixed it I DID!!!!! I went crazy till I fixed the stuttering. I went to control panel Sounds, and Devices then AUDIO. Just Change your default device I had 2 to choose from and picked SoundMAX....whaaala! It worked. If you have a choice of more than one default device for your audio pick the other...it should fix the annoying problem.
    good luck
