Audio playback distortion?

Is there audio playback distortion with itunes and icloud?

Since I have upgraded and/or using itunes cloud, sound from itunes on computer is really fuzzy,distorted. I have read that perhaps it is because I have an older computer (Intel Core 2 Duo [email protected] GHZ 4G RAM?) 6 years old, which is old by computer standards.

  • ATV (Gen3) Newest updates severely distort audio playback from iTunes. Please Help!!!

    I just updated my iTunes and ATV (Gen3) to the newest versions and immediately noticed severe distortion in audio playback from iTunes library. No hardware changes have been made and yesterday the sound quality was just fine. I have one running an optical cable into a high end receiver and another running off a HDMI cable into the TV with powered Speakers for output. I checked both systems on all inputs and it's only the Apple TV with the distortion. Someone please help as that is the only thing I really use on the device. iTunes version 12.0.1.26

    Weird, I just opened iTunes to add some songs and now its playing fine.
    Though I still can't figure out how to change the columns and having them stick to what I want .

  • Audio Playback issues with quicktime 7 and iTunes - distorted sound

    I was informed by my Soundcard manufacturer that Quicktime7 now requires a "real" WDM driver.
    Many soundcards seems to have a "fake" WDM driver and this leads to chopped up sound that is completely distorted / garbled and impossible to listen to.
    The fix is to downgrade to an older version of quicktime and iTunes.
    I'm posting this because it was driving me crazy that there is no information on this in the support pages from Apple even if there are plenty of reported issues with audio playback. The system requirements from Apple does not mention the WDM driver either. I am not sure if this "true" WDM driver has to be "windows signed" and all unsigned drivers are "fake".
    I'm sure the changed requirements has changed because of the need to address more audio channels but it would be great if the "safe mode" would accept "fake" WDM drivers.
    I have also requested a driver revision from my soundcard manufacturer. We'll see...

    By way of experiment, try updating your QuickTime Player to the most recent version.
    Does that help with the iTunes problem?

  • Audio playback frequencies are distorted...

    All of a sudden, audio playback through my speakers/headphone jack is muddy and distorted.  Sometimes, the vocal track disappears completely.  This is not just in iTunes (where I've unsuccessfully tried to adjust the equalizer), it's also on Youtube videos.  Sonos, which does NOT go thru system audio, sounds fine.  I'm including etrecheck diagnostics.  Thanks for any ideas.  Oh, and the only thing that's changed, systemwise, is the latest Yosemite upgrade.  The problem started after that, but not immediately after.

    Will try.  There are no cables/exterior connections involved here.
    Oddly enough, this worked.  I was unable to hear anything in Safe Mode, so just exited and rebooted (yes, I'd already tried rebooting, with no effect).  Gave iTunes a shot, and am now back to normal.

  • 11.1.5.5, playback, distortion, Windows 7

    Playback works fine for several minutes, and then suddenly there's lots of distortion. Any ideas would be helpful. I've seen threads about toggling the EQ settings, but that doesn't seem to work. Also checking against other audio outputs, both on-board and online such as Windows Media Player and Pandora. Both seem fine so far. Also checked if it was streaming from iCloud vs. a downloaded file and both will start distorting after several minutes. Thanks for any help!
    System - New i3 64 bit with 8gigs of memory. M-Audio M-Track Interface with updated driver. It's not the machine.

    I had the same problem on windows 7. I changed the "Bitrate for Audio Playback" and "Bits Per Sample For Audio" settings to lower values and the problem is gone.  Goto Edit, Preferences, Playback. Then restart iTunes. Worked for me. Good luck.

  • Erractic Audio Playback in Pr CC

    I am experiencieng erractic audio playback.  Each time I hit the spacebar one of three things happens:
    - No audio is heard, but levels are seen
    - Audio plays back but is distorted
    - Audio plays back fine.
    Stopping playback, waiting a few seconds, then resuming playback will result in one of the three above results with no discernable pattern.
    I'm using Premiere Pro CC (7.2.2. (33)); running OS X 10.8.5; connected to a Facilis Terrablock via fiber; audio/ video is outputed using an AJA io Express (running 10.4.7)
    I'm editing with the AVID DNxHD codec. Audio issues occured whether or not I render all effects, audio only, or don't render at all.  I would love a solution to this issue as my client's focus on what's going on with the playback and not the projects we are editing.

    I'm getting playback distortion from Itunes/Quicktime... Does anyone know how I can fix this? I have WinXP, and a Soundblaster Audigy 2. Downloaded the latest Itunes/Quicktime, and the latest Audigy 2 drivers.

  • Faint rattle on audio playback

    Let me start by saying I have no idea which link in the chain is causing this problem - original recording, iTunes importing, iPod playback, or headphones. What I first started hearing on my iPod 3G, and then my dad on his iPod mini, was a faint rattle on certain parts of the audio playback. It doesn't occur at even intervals, which makes me think something is distorting a certain frequency in the song file. I don't believe it's the original CD recording, as I've heard it on a number of tracks from different albums. I thought it was my headphones (Koss Portapro) until I heard the same thing on my dad's Sennheiser PXC250s. Which in my opinion means it's either the iTunes encoding (I'm using 192kbps AAC) or the iPod's decoder - perhaps distortion created by overdriving the iPod's headphone amp? Has anyone else experienced the same problem? Any insight would be great. Thanks.

    I've also found that there is a rattle which occours during sustained or heavy bass. It's definitely not a headphone problem, however, since I also notice it on my dynaudio studio monitors. When listening to the exact same song from my laptop audio output, it's perfect.
    I've found that generally the Ipod's user interface and convienience is great, but for audiophiles it just cannot make it. Obviously the power supply cannot produce the waveforms to drive the audio device properly - probably as a result of a more spareingly battery supply. Which is disapointing since I bought it so I could leave all my CD's at home while living overseas.

  • System Audio Starts Distorting

    For some reason, I was watching a movie in VLC and after the crazy amount of skipping and dropped video and audio stopped happening, the audio was distorted. Not just the audio through VLC, but all the system audio. Even iTunes, or just the blips changing the volume were distorted. I think it's a memory problem cause I was using a lot of different programs at the same time, but when I open up Activity Monitor and get rid of some stuff, it still won't go away.
    It has gone away now, but what if it happens again, is there anything I can do to get audio up and un-distorted immediately when it happens?

    i don't think it has to do with anything like that, just memory, because whenever I'm downloading a lot, or have things working, exporting or anything, it goes from skipping playback, to distorted audio. I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this cause it really ****** me off every time it happens.

  • Audio sound distorted through headset

    Hi, I am having an irritating problem with audio distortion through headphones on my 2 month old Z2
    Sound quality is really tinny and unbalanced and is almost entirelly cancelling out any vocal. Imagine listening to a song being played in the next room.
    External speaker play back is fine.
    Headphones which are Marshall Monitors are working fine on other phones that I have and work fine on the Z2 for phone calls.
    When headphones are being used for music -
    It is happening via various streamed live radio and music players inc Deezer, youtube and BBC tv iplayer, cached music on Deezer, as well as mp3 format music on the SD card.
    There doesn't seem to be an issue with phone call quality.
    Software is all up to date following a factory reset.
    This all leads me to think its a software issue with audio playback rather than hardware.
    Help please!

    Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
    Have you added any sound effects via Settings > Sound > Sound effects? You could also try to change the audio accessories via Settings > Audio accessories > Other, to see if you experience the same behaviour.
    Otherwise, you can also try another pair of headphones/headset to see if same thing occurs. Prefer a Sony headset.

  • No Audio Playback due to Error Message "Disk is too slow. (Prepare) (-10001)"

    Out of the blue, no audio playback.  Was working just fine earlier today.
    I repeatedly get the error message:
    Disk is too slow. (Prepare)
    (-10001)
    NOTE: I have more than enough disc space.  That is NOT the issue.
    I also just got a second error message:
    Part of the Project was not played
    This project has too many real instrument tracks to be played in real-time. To optimize performance, see the 'Optimizing GarageBand performance' page in GarageBand Help.
    NOTE: Odd as I have only 2 tracks in the GarageBand file.
    Any others experience this?  Suggestions?

    Have a look into the Preferences folder (YourUserFolder/Libraries/Preferences/) and trash all Logic preferences.
    You'll have to setup the program again.

  • Premiere Elements 12 - Gaps in audio playback

    Hello everyone!
    I have a problem with Adobe Premiere Elements 12: when I play video in timeline or preview window, there are lots of gaps and pauses in audio playback, even though video is playing smoothly. Usually the pattern goes like this: 2 seconds of clean audio - 0,5 seconds silence - 2 seconds of clean audio... etc.
    I have tried the following:
    - change audio buffer settings
    - change audio device (I have tested with integrated audio chip ("High Definition Audio"), M-Audio Fast Track Pro and cheap USB audio interface - same results with all of them)
    - start a new project with correct settings and import only one file
    - disable background antivirus monitoring
    Usually source material is AVCHD 1440x1080 25fps (PAL, MTS-file) from small Sony camera, but this problem seems to continue even if I insert only still photo and mp3 audio to timeline. CPU load is about 6% during playback. It seems like Premiere Elements makes these gaps to playback signal before sending it to audio hardware?
    Computer specs: Intel Core i7-4770 @ 3,4GHz, 16 GB RAM, 128GB SSD drive for OS & software and 2.0TB 7200 rpm drive for video, Intel HD Graphics 4600, Windows 8 (64bit).
    I would be really grateful if someone could give me some tips to solve this annoying audio playback problem.
    EDIT: I forgot to mention that this problem occurs all the time - even when video is rendered in timeline.

    I've noticed while trying out the Solaris 10 beta 72 that the audio playback quality took a major hit since Solaris 9. I was hoping that this would go away in the Solaris 10 release, but it's not the case.
    If I try to play an .mp3 file with mpg123 or even audioplay an .au file, there are regular clicks in the playback, audible about twice per second. Booting into Solaris 9, the audio playback is perfect.
    My intuition tells me that the integration of DTrace into the kernel is the culprit, but of course, I have no proof. Can anyone think of a way to test this theory? Can DTrace be disabled? Maybe DTrace can be used to figure out what's going on?

    theory?You can be assured that DTrace is not the culprit. When DTrace is not running ("pgrep dtrace" to be sure), there is no effect on system performance.
    Maybe DTrace can be

  • IPhone 4 audio playback cuts out after latest update (5.1)

    My phones audio playback ( podcast, audiobook or music) cuts out at random intervals during playback.
    This happens when listening through apple headPhones or my audio lead aux input to my stereo.
    This has only started since the last software update (5.1). It's really frustrating as you often hit the jump back or forward arrows when restarting, instead of the intended Play symbol ( they are close together). This is really frustrating when your listing to an hour+ podcast.
    Is anyone else having this problem since the update?

    Same problem here! My phone was functioning correctly after the update until today, when it randomly attempted it's own emergency call, then requested that I turn on location services. When I hit cancel, it repeatedly requested that I turn on the service. When I agreed to turn on location services, it defaulted to the screen with the iTunes logo and the USB cable. Since then, I have been unable to get it to function. The phone has been switching between a black screen and the apple screen and buzzing periodically. When I touched the apple, it pixellated and melted away. I did see a message that the iPhone needed to be activated once and very briefly. I managed to connect it to iTunes using an old troubleshooting guide, but when I asked iTunes to restore it to factory settings (politely, thank you), it gave me error 21 (unknown error) and said it was unable to restore.
    Hopefully someone has an answer...?

    at the moment I am evaluating the realisation auf a radioplayer using a rtmp stream for android devices.
    There are two question for which I could not find any advices or resoltions.
    My questions are:
    1.) Is it possible to play/continue an audiostream, even if the app itself is pushed into background?
    2.) How are updates handled for apps in Android-Store? Is it the same as with the updateroutine for AIR on Desktops?
