Audio Playback Frame by Frame - Enabling & Disabling

Hello,
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Initial searching has been fruitless.
Using Final Cut Pro 5.0.4
I have managed to somehow disable audio playback when moving the playhead frame by frame & when scrubbing through.
This occurs both in Viewer window & when clip is on the timeline.
The audio meter also doesn't register/update any change.
Many thanks.

Fred:
Check View > Audio Scrubbing or SHIFT+S.
Hope that helps !

  • Audio disabled in frame by frame editing - FCP 7

    Hello,
I have installed the update for Apple Pro aps and it seems to have turned something off. When editing in FCP 7 the audio for frame by frame viewing (via the arrow keys) has been disabled, in both senses (actual sound, and the sound level meter). Does anyone know how to fix this or what setting to change in user prefs? Makes editing a bit hit and miss at the moment!
    Many thanks

    Hi
Are you sure you don't have audio scrubbing toggled off?

  • No audio in frame by frame playback?

Hi, have just downloaded the free version of QT as I needed frame by frame playback but I also need the audio.  Can anybody out there tell me how to get the audio in frame by frame or better still in slow motion please??

I've recently upgraded my QT V10.0 with the MPEG-2 playback component and I'm getting no audio.
If you re-read the product description you will find the QT MPEG-2 Playback component is only a video component. If the audio is not compatible with your current QT component configuration, then you will not have get any audio. (E.g., this includes "muxed" AC3, PCM, etc. audio formats.) On the other hand, since you already have this component installed, you can use the free MPEG Streamclip to either demux or convert the content to FCE edit compatible compression formats with audio like paired M2V and AIFF (demux option) files or convert to any preferred editing format like AIC/Uncompressed or AIC/AIFF files.

  • Audio playback, frame by frame

In previous versions of FCP (e.g. 3), when I would drag the playback point through a clip, the audio would play for that frame. It resulted in the audio sounding "cut up". With 4.5, I can no longer do this. I found it helpful when trying to determine the exact frame that contained the beginning of a sound, which is has been very useful for syncing up multiple angles.
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to turn this back on?
    Thank you!

Do you have external video playback on? If so, is your audio following your video playback?
What are your different settings for View>External Video, View> Audio Playback, and View> Video Playback?

  • No audio playback when moving playhead frame by frame

    FCP version: 5.0
    Machine: Macbook
When I use the keyboard arrows to move the playhead forward frame by frame, I'm not hearing any audio. Even the audio level meter doesn't seem to move
But when I play the timeline normally, the audio is there, and the audio level meter starts moving again.
I normally use this to find the very start of a person's speech, but without the audio, it's quite hard to put a cut in right at the first word that a person says.
What can I do to hear the audio when I move the arrow keys?

Press shift and S keys to turn on "Audio Scrubbing".

  • Premiere Pro CC (8.1) on MacBook Pro (late 2011, build 8.1) bad playback, stutters, drops frames, loses sync

I've used Premiere Pro as a playback device for video files for festivals etc for about 4 years. Unique amongst software (?) players PP can easily adapt to the multiple resolutions, codecs and, especially, frame rates we now encounter via Sequence Settings.
But in all that time I've had issues with mediocre playback with dropped frames, loss of audio sync and stuttering commonly seen. I have recently upgraded to PP 8.1 and Mac OSX 10.9.5 and have installed SSDs on the Thunderbolt bus so I had hoped things would be better but infact they are worse. I've seen lots of threads here and on Creative Cow about this but apart from the obvious setup issues nothing seems to have solved most of these peoples problems. So can PP play out smoothly on a rendered (or not?) timeline? If Quicktime, Avid and Resolve can play the movie properly why can't Premiere Pro?
I do note that my GPU (AMD Radeon 6770M) is no longer listed as supported but and ATI Radeon 6770M is. Is this the issue?

I too have problems with audio on CS6.05, I wanted to route my audio thru my digi003 interface, but no avail., tried it on my Presonus light pipe, nada. I have a matrox mojito max and tried to download using it;s vetura capture software, still dropouts. I then went to cineform.com and downloaded the free Cineform Decoder Codec under the downloads file and used it, No more dropouts as of date when using this codec. Its listed as Gopro Cineform 4k/3D/HD codec.

  • Audio meters are not in synce with the audio when viewing frame by frame?

I am running Final Cut Pro 4.5 and my audio meters work just fine during playback. But when I am viewing the sound frame by frame the audio meters do not move at all. I thought it was a memory issue, so I added another gig of memory and the audio meters still do not move when I try frame by frame.

I'm unclear if this also worked in FCP 4.5<<</div>
    It does.

  • HELP! Frame by Frame Audio Editing

I am having a problem going frame by frame on my timeline, I can do it but the audio is not outputing through my speakers nor is the VU meter changing with the audio. I can play at normal speed and everything works fine but if I try to slow down, go frame by frame or speed it up the audio does not react. I know this is probably a simple soultion but after an hour of fooling around I can not seem to figure it out. Someone please help!

Do you mean that you'd like to hear the audio as you scrub through your timeline frame by frame? You may not have audio scrubbing enabled. Try hitting Shift-s and see if that turns it on.
Let me know if that works,
    Cameron

  • How can I delete the video and keep the Audio  in a few frames using Imovie 11

How can I delete the video and keep the Audio  in a few frames using Imovie 11?

I've met the problem too before. but i solved it with  Audio Converter Mac instead of iMovie. If you have similar situation that just want to keep audio but not video, and if your file format is not workable in iMovie, you can use the Audio Converter for help too. it can easily help to extract audio soundtrack from any video format. Or if you need to convert one audio format to another, it is a good choice too, because it supports many common audio output formats.

  • Media Foundation:Playback using Raw Data Bytes Frame by Frame

I have a stream of bytes encoded by H264.Now
I want to playback using Media Foundation I have the frames as raw data without container and I receive it frame by frame.does any
one have any idea how can I do that?

You should be able to decode it with the MF H264 decoder, but you should get the codec private data from the encoder in order to configure the decoder (MF_MT_USER_DATA). Anyway, more info on this would probably help other people in providing useful answers.
Once you have decoded frames you could render them with the EVR or DXVA.

  • Under Snow Leopard, Quicktime 10 (and 7) stutter on frame-by-frame playback

After I upgraded to Snow Leopard I found that Quicktime 10 stuttered very badly in frame-by-frame playback of .mp4 or .mov files. I use this feature very frequently to study dance videos. I pause the video with the space bar, then move forward or backward frame-by-frame using the cursor keys.
After the upgrade I went back to my Leopard back-up disk and grabbed Quicktime 7 and installed it on my laptop. Quicktime 7 has much less stutter in the playback, but it is still not as good as it was under 10.5.
This is on a January 2009 Macbook Pro with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 4 GB of RAM.
I tried changing the settings in Energy Saver to Higher Performance but that did not make any difference.
A friend of mine just bought one of the new 27-inch iMacs and I checked this issue on his computer - frame-by-frame playback is smooth.
    Any suggestions or comments appreciated.
    thanks
    Paul

I had this problem on my old mac mini and then my new mini worked fine. I upgraded to snow leopard and this QT 10 choppy video is BACK! Get this fixed apple! Funny but, if you right click and "open with" the application grapher, it will play the choppy video smoothly/completely normal.
why can't this be resolved??? WHY WHY WHY!!!!!

  • FCE 3.5 Audio Meter Link to Frame Forward

I was watching a tutorial on FCE 4.0 and noticed that the audio meter changed as the arrow keys were used in viewer to move one frame forward or backward. Does this feature exist in 3.5? I'm unable to activate it. The audio meter works when I play a clip but not when moving frame by frame.

Turn on Audio Scrubbing in the View menu.

  • Variable Speed and/or Frame-by-Frame Video playback with Waveform synchronization

I'm using Diadem 2011 to view data recorded in a LabVIEW Module that we have written.  The function of our LabVIEW module is to simultaneously capture video from two infrared cameras and 8 channels of waveform data from a DAQ and record this data to disk.  Data is recorded as two separate AVI files (compressed) and a TDMS file (using TDMS logging).  Using Diadem, I use the video synchronization function to view the TDMS data and video files.  I can scroll a cursor in the waveform data panel and view the video corresponding to the time selected.
I am looking for two features from Diadem that I am not sure are present: 1) A way to vary the playback speed from real-time.  2) A way to advance the video in a frame-by-frame manner.  If anyone has any suggestions on how I might implement this in Diadem 2011 or can verify that these features are present, I would very much like to know.
    Thanks in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello Resaebiunne,
All the functions you are looking for are available in the VIEW toolbar.
For the frame reverse/forward functions, please make sure that the section with the video inside is highlighted and then use these two buttons. The "Cursor Parameters" icon let's you change the playback speed.
    Hope that helps,
