Audio plays out of left side only

I had this same problem with the 4th Gen Nano, which is why I received this one. But, I've only had this iPod for a few months at the most, and I do not have a warranty on it anymore. I have tried multiple sets of headphones, so I know it is a problem with the device itself. Is there any way to fix this without having to buy a whole new iPod?

Every iPod comes with complimentary, single-incident telephone technical support within 90 days of your iPod purchase.
Hardware warranty is for _*one year from the date of purchase.*_
_If you also purchased AppleCare, then your warranty is extended for technical support and hardware coverage for *two years* from the original purchase date of your iPod._
In view of the above, you should take your iPod & earphones to an Apple Store or an AASP. Let the staff inform you if you are having hardware issues.

Can you get into an Apple Store to have someone take a look at it? If there is something wedged into the headphone jack, I don't know if there is much you can do about it.

  • My daughters ipod only plays out of one side on her headphones.  Is there a problem with the ipod?

My daughters ipod only plays out of one side on her headphones.  I've tried other headphones.  Is there a problem with her ipod?

First make sure the headphones are plugged in all the way in (it takes a bit of force to get the solid click sound) and sound balance is set in the middle. Second, test the headphones on another device to see if they operate correctly and test the iPod with the original Apple earphones that came with the iPod to see if it works correctly. Lastly, if you are using third-party headphones, make sure that their plug is iPod compatible.

  • Left-side only on Macbook Air headphones

I am having problem with any headphones I plug into new Macbook Air in that sound will only come out of left side despite the headphone settings being set for balance.
I tried the resets I have seen on other threads and experienced no change in the problem.

Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
        Audio Devices window
        Side Bar
        Plug in the headphone.
        Click the Built-in Output.
Make sure that balance is set properly.

My audio plays through the right spreaker only. Its the same when I connect my headsets. I tried reinstallind the driver and restart the system, but the problen continues. I'm using Pavilion dv6 7040tx with Windows 8 for the past 2 years and this is the first time this issue has accured.

    Hello orvillecota,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand that you are only able to receive sound through the right speaker / headphone, and I would be happy to assist you!
Since you have already uninstalled and re-installed the audio drivers for your notebook, I suggest using this document on when there is No Sound from Speakers (Windows 8). This resource should help re-establish the sound from both speakers on your computer.
If the issue persists, I also recommend running the Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8). This should help re-install all of the hardware drivers and original software that came with your notebook. In addition,  please use the HP Support Assistant to update any new driver added to your system.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your reply!

  • Audio only coming out of left side of headphones

Hey all, I got my Ipod Video 8 months ago. Everything was perfect until recently. One day, I turned on my Ipod and sound was only coming out of the left side of the headphones. I thought it was the headphones, so I tried the headphones on a computer. And it was fine on the computer. I tried 3 different sets of headphones on my Ipod and still the same problem, the sound only comes out of the left side. If I move the jack around, sometimes sound will come out of the right side, but only briefly. Any suggestions on what I can do?

  • Garageband 11 Recording on left side only?

Hey Guys, I have a question and need your help in answering it. I have created numerous songs in Garageband 2011 using various loops but now its time to add real guitars, bass guitar and synths. I am using a Lexicon Alpha as my interface. When I go to a song and add a new track to record say my guitar onto, it records my guitar but it only records on the left side of the track and only plays back on the left side. I was told I need to change the track to record in mono: is this true and can you give me details on how to change it to mono? I want the guitar and anything else I record to record and play back on the left and right. Thanks in advance for your help!!!!

  • Music stops playing out of left earpiece

I've had my iPod Nano 5th generation for over a year now and for at least the last 7 months I've had problems where my headphones stopped playing music through the left plug so I've bought about 12 sets of headphones and all of them have eventually stopped playing out of the left side, so I can only guess it isn't a problem with the headphones as I've never had the same pair or brand. I was just wondering if anyone else was having a similar problem or if anyone knew how to fix it because it seems cheaper just to buy a new iPod.

Replace the headphone jack on your iPod.

  • Left Side only work

I just hooked up my new X-Fi Xtremegamer. I am running Windows x64 Professional and download the latest according drivers from the creative website. I installed drivers and reset and now my headphones are plugged in but only the left side is playing noise. I think its a problem with the output being in only channel since if I turn up right side volume the volume on the left side will go up. Anyone have any idea how to solve this?

    Hello!
Have you tested your hearing?   Sorry!
I got a Tbird too, of the 100 kind. There is also a 133 kind. Which is yours?
Has it always been like this, that is, have it ever worked? Normally sound problems are Windows related, but this was odd.
Is there good contact for the speaker cable? Try jerking it a bit, in and out?
Any error messages in Device Manager? Could try - again - uninstalling current driver, reboot to enter SafeMode and reinstall.
Here is an advice from the Internet: "You are probably using a mono plug for stereo speakers. Either that, or the driver may not be loading correctly. On some systems, if your sound card drivers are not loaded in CONFIG.SYS, you will only have left-side sound." http://www.5starsupport.com/faq/sound.htm#1-5

  • Firefox prints partial pags from web why on left side only?

When I want to print a page from the web, Firefox prints only 2-3 inches on left side of page.
    I can print e-mail OK.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == 7-20-10

    '''"I can print e-mail OK. "'''
Web mail through Firefox, or using a different email program?
    See this:

Also, check the margin setting in File > Page Setup. An excessively large right margin setting can cause something like that.

  • Why are my pictures from my Powershot SX130IS blurry on the left side only?

I have had my Powershot SX130Is for less than a year.  Initially it took lovely pictures.  Now all of the pictures are blurry on the left of each image.  I use the easy or auto setting.  I am very dissappointed with the picture quality.  Any suggestions?

    LibbiePayne,
I agree that making sure the lens is clean may be all that is needed here.  You can clean the lens by gently wiping it down with a soft, lint free cleaning cloth, similar to what you would typically use to clean eyeglasses.
If the images are still blurry on the left side, this may require more in-depth troubleshooting. Feel free use this Contact Us link to contact us directly if you continue to experience this issue.

  • Audio plays out of sync initially on burned disc

Now that the project is built, I'm having a strange issue with audio sync on my test DVDs. In some set-top DVD players, the audio starts ahead of the video in each segment; but then the video catches up to the audio after about 10 seconds or so and stays in sync for the duration of that video clip. This issue does not occur in computer DVD players. Given that these DVDs are comprised of math lessons with lots of starting and stopping, the sync issue is a persistent annoyance. The audio is out of sync at the beginning of each lesson since the user has to manually start each lesson from a menu. Why would this be happening and does anyone have an idea of how to make it go away?
The video was compressed in Apple Compressor 2 at 3 Mbps with audio at 192 Kbps Dolby. Each lesson is a discreet MPEG2 and AC3 file and graphic slates intervene between each video clip or lesson (not my idea). The graphics (slates) are rendered in DVDSP. The video lags behind the audio each time one of these slates is passed even when the user selects to view a series of lessons without interruption.
Hope any of you can help.
    Richard

I am having the same issue. Just burned an hour long documentary and it seems to be out of sync. Not on all players, just a few. Also it appears that if the track is started over, to the beginning it seems to be in perfect sync.
I am doing some research on this today. If I find anything I will let you know.
I did find one thing already at

    Doesn't really solve it yet.

  • Buzzing audio out of left speaker only during dvd playback

Anyone else have this problem. I can play cds fine and all other audio sounds fine, but when i play a dvd i get a weird buzzing out of the left speaker. I should also note that it is not constant, it occurs with things such as loud voices and some music.

Now i can confirm that it happens in quicktime as well. Is this hardware or software related? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Also, it isn't so much a buzzing as it is almost like an echo after some loud speach.
