Audio Podcast shutdown my iPod

Ever since i updated my iTunes and iPod to the new version every time i try to listen to a audio podcast that i put on my ipod, the darn thing shuts off... has this happen to anyone else and if so do you know how to fix this problem?

I'm glad I found this thread -- my post about this problem hasn't drawn a reply. The problem started with my update to iTunes 7.0.0.7, it effects some podcasts more than others, and if I play the first few moments from my iPod through iTunes, it will play later. After 7.x trashed my podcasts, I went to my other PC that still had 6.05. I Wiped out all podcasts, then reloaded. The problem continues!!!! Same "fix" -- if I play it before disconnecting the iPod, it plays. But....if I turn off the iPod & turn it on later, crash iPod on play.
Makes me think the iPod firmware/software update that occurred when I installed 7.x created a problem. Or maybe the interaction with 7.x together. Either way, boy, am I sorry!!

  • Playing audio podcasts from my iPod on TV

I have no problem playing video podcasts from my iPod on TV, using the Apple AV cable and a scart adapter.
However, when I play an audio podcast, I hear the audio on the TV, but I don't see the accompanying visuals that are part of the audio podcast.
I tried to find a "TV on" setting for audio podcasts (similar to that used for video podcasts) but couldn't.
    Can anyone help/advise?
    Thanks in advance!

I belive your Ipod is operating normally!
I belive the only time you'll get a visual is when your playing back Video, Music video and Video podcast.
There are no visuals output to Tv for audio programs;only on the Ipod itself!

  • Playing audio component of video podcasts on an iPod mini?

I subscribe to a number of lecture podcasts which somewhat uselessly record in video. I don't need to see the presenter, so I was wondering if there was a way to force it to play audio-only on my iPod mini. Currently, if I put it on a sync'ed playlist, it is ignored, and the conversion option says that the video is already in the correct format. Is there a workaround which doesn't involve the extra effort of taking the file out of iTunes and ripping the audio track?

  • Audio podcasts show synced in itunes but is not on ipod.

I connect my nano to itunes and try to sync audio podcasts by syncing under the podcast tab.  itunes shows synced but podcasts are not on ipod.  What can I do?

Where are you looking for these podcasts on the iPod?
Double check to make sure podcasts are configured to sync to your device from under the iPod's Podcast configuration tab.
To access the Podcasts tab for your iPod, plug your iPod in and click on it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This will bring you to the Summary tab. Along the top you should see a Podcasts tab, so go ahead and click on it.  Here you can configure how and what podcasts sync to your iPod.
If you do make any changes to do this tab, make sure to hit the Apply button in the lower right hand corner to apply the update changes to your device.
Otherwise, are you getting any error messages when you sync your iPod Classic with iTunes?

  • I recently bought a 4th generation ipod shuffle.  Am I able to have both music and audio podcasts loaded on it at the same time?

I have not been able to include both music and audio podcasts on my shuffle at the same time. Is this possible with the shuffle?

  • AUDIO PODCASTS ARE DOWNLOADING BACKWARDS "IN REVERSE ORDER"

    HELLO,
I HAVE BEEN "DL (DOWNLOADING) "FREE AUDIO PODCASTS" FROM THE ITUNES STORE. I AM HAVING A HUGE PROBLEM WITH THE "EPISODES BEING DL TO MY IPOD CLASSIC "BACKWARDS". I HAVE TRIED DL FROM CHAPTER 1 THRU THE FINAL CHAPTER, AND HAVE IT DOWNLOADS ONTO MY IPOD AS THE LAST CHAPTER 1st,& THE 1st CHAPTER LAST. THEN I HAVE TURNED AROUND AND DL THE SAME PODCAST FROM THE "LAST CHAPTER" 1st THRU THE TO THE 1st CHAPTER LAST, AND IT STILL DOWNLOADS FROM THE LAST CHAPTER 1st THRU TO THE 1st CHAPTER LAST.
I HAVE TRIED THIS MANY,MANY TIMES, AND IT KEEPS DOING THE SAME THING.
FOR EXAMPLE: THE PODCAST NAMED "FORT LARAMIE". IT HAS 39 CHAPTERS, I HAVE DL IT FROM CHAPTER 1(PLAYING INDIAN), THRU THE FINAL CHAPTER #39(ARMY WIFE). AND WHEN I LOOK AT THE "DOWNLOADING PAGE, IT SHOWS THAT THEY ARE BEING DL IN THE CORRECT ORDER. BUT THEN WHEN I DL THE PODCAST, IT SHOWS THE LAST CHAPTER(ARMY WIFE) AS THE 1st CHAPTER, AND THE 1st CHAPTER(PLAYING INDIAN) AS THE LAST CHAPTER. THEN I HAVE TRIDE REVERSING THE ORDER (chapter #39-1ST, & chapter #1 last). AND IT STILL DL ONTO MY IPOD FROM THE LAST CHAPTER 1st & THE 1st CHAPTER LAST.
THIS ONLY HAPPENS ON SOME OF THE PODCASTS. I HAVE TRIED CONTACTING THE WEBSITES OF THE PODCASTS THAT I HAVE HAD THESE PROBLEMS WITH, AND THEY ""NEVER"" REPLY BACK. I AM SO FRUSTRAITED .
I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING FROM "REFRESHING MY LIBRARY", "RUNNING FULL DIAGNOSTIC TESTS" (which always comes back and says my system is running correctly), ect.
    I AM TOTALLY LOST.
WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME? I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL. IF I COULD AFFORD TO HAVE APPLE SUPPORT HELP ME, I WHOUD. BUT I AM RETIRED AND ON A FIXED BUDGET AND BARELY MAKE ENDS MEET. SO I AM HOPING THAT SOME INTELLIGENT INDIVIDUAL OUT THERE WILL BE KIND ENOUGH TO HELP ME?
THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO WHOMEVER (if anyone) HAS THE KNOWLEDGE ANBOUT THIS STUFF TO HELP ME.
    GOF BLESS EVERYONE,

    jfauth,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
If you ultimately obtained the chronological order that you desired and expected by clicking on the "Date Received" column, why would there be a problem?
The fact that the user controls the eventual order is more important than the arbitrary default setting.

  • Streaming audio podcast randomly unpauses when paused

Often when I listen to streaming audio podcasts on iTunes, if I have to pause it for any reason, it will unpause itself after a few seconds and resume playing. This can be irritating, because usually when I'm pausing it's because I need to step away, which means the heaphones come off. Then I will return and the podcast is already playing. If I don't mark the time when I pause it, I could lose several minutes.
I have been pausing the stream lately just to watch iTunes's behavior. Sometimes, sure enough, I'll see it automatically resume playback with no accidental button pushing or screen tapping.
Can anyone explain why it does this? It should always remain paused until I unpause it. Every time.

I see a similar problem with music loaded into the iPod software on my iPhone 3G. In this case, when I remove the headphones from the headphone jack (ie. not Bluetooth), the iPod software will suddenly kick in and begin playing the last music I was listening to. Note, this music in the iPod software is paused and still lists as "Now Playing" because there does not appear to be a way to tell the iPod software that you are done listening to that music.
This is a basic flaw with the iPhone software. It seems you cannot tell any software to "Exit" because you are done -- you can only hit the "Home" button and leave the software in background. This can be a plus in some circumstances in that the software will start up again much faster, but it can also be a negative in that the running software is vulnerable to doing unexpected things.

  • How to download past Joel Osteen audio podcasts?

I had my settings wrong so itunes was not automatically downloading the Joel Osteen weekly audio podcasts for the past month or so. Is there a way (that does not involve prayer) to get the podcasts that I missed? I only see the current episode on itunes. (There are other sites that let you listen to past podcasts online but won't allow you to transfer the actual file to your computer, so I'd really like to get the ones I missed from itunes and put them on my ipod, save them, etc.) Osteen has me convinced that by having faith I heal myself from any disease, reach any goal, overcome any obstacle, I can turn back time, move mountains -- so how come a can't download a few lousy podcasts?
Thanks in advance for your help!

It seems they want you to sign up on their website to access the older episodes, but if you can download it elsewhere and have iTunes manage those MP3s as songs for use on your iPod.

  • How to manage Music Videos and Podcasts of my iPod manually in iTune?

Can anyone tell me how to manage Music Videos and Podcasts of my iPod manually in iTune? Because I can't see the Music Videos and the Podcast section in iTune under Device when my iPod is connected to my computer. Thanks

iTunes doesn't have a separate *Music Videos* section. In iTunes these are just part of the main Music library. To manually drag a music video to yout iPod drag it onto the iPod or a compatible playlist. To remove, look for it in Music on the iPod and delete.
I think podcasts only work properly when placed on the iPod via the sync tabs. If you manually drag and drop then the files may get treated as general audio & video files.

  • HT3281 I downloaded an audio podcast on iPad2 using iTunes and can't find it

I've used iTunes on Mac, on PC on iPhone.  I downloaded a single episode of an audio podcast over wifi on my new iPad2 using iTunes. progress bar finished but there is no obvious place to tap to play the file and in fact I can't find the file to play it. Podcast icon at the bottom of the home screen on iTunes just leads me to the main page of featured Podcasts. I can't find my way to my Library or this particular file that I just downloaded.
Can someone help an iPad newbie find a single audio podcast file that I just downloaded? Where did iTunes put it?? Not in music, not in podcasts not in audiobooks. It's all "featured" and "charts" and if I go to "Downloads" there is a single link to "ITunes Store Terms and Conditions" . ***.
This is so non-intuitive and honestly coloring my new iPad experience very poorly. Why Apple makes the layout and interface so different on devices is part of my problem but not my question. I listen to a lot of Podcasts and wanted it to be an easy to version of iTunes like I'm used to on my Mac and PC. Why is it so crazily different looking? So frustrating as I evaluate whether I keep this gaget.
    thanks in advance

So I leave one app and go to a different app named "Music" to listen to an audio podcast? If I download a video podcast do I go to videos" app?
That is exactly where you go to watch a video podcast. Since that thought struck you after I told you where the audio podcasts are - doesn't it seem to make sense to you? Audio in the Music app - Video content in the Videos app?
New users want to play their music and videos in iTunes on the iPad because that is where they play that content on their computers. That's a natural assumption and that is where the confusion starts. iTunes on the iPad is simply a link to the store - not the media player like it is on the computer.
After two years of using iDevices every day, I am used to the way that they work - but I tend to agree that knowing how iTunes, the Music App and the Videos app work - is not the most intuitive design for a lot of new Apple device users.
And to top it all off - The iPad keeps changing with every new iOS release. In the previous iOS - the Music App was the iPod app. When it changed to the Music App, it confused new users even more.
There is a free iPad user guide book available in the iBook Store that is a fairly comprehensive manual. It is certainly worth downloading. Honestly, I have picked up tons of knowledge on this support site, by fumbling and fooling with the device by myself, and by relying on one of my best friends - Google!

  • Video podcast syncs to iPod touch, but can't be found afterwards?

I have a number of podcasts on my iTunes. When these sync to my 3rd Generation IPOD Touch, the audio podcasts show up in the podcast list on the IPOD, but I have to search for the video podcasts as they are not on in any of the folders. This started happening when I upgraded to ios 5. Does anynoe else have this problem? Is there a fix?

Did you check under Videos icon instead of under Music icon?

  • How do you put Audiobooks and Podcasts on your iPod Shuffle

    Hi,
I was wondering how do you put Audiobooks and Podcasts on your iPod shuffle?
    I would appreciate any help.

  • What Podcasts work for Ipod Nano (What are some examples)

    What Podcasts work for nano?

Podcasts that are audio podcasts (no video, just talking, etc.). Any podcast that isn't a video podcast should be compatible with your iPod nano.
(Because nanos and other iPods can't take music videos, movies, or video podcasts: no video file is compatible with an iPod nano).
A video iPod, on the other hand, can take any kind of podcast (audio or video podcasts).

  • Shuffle 2 stopped playing audio podcasts

Hi. I have a Shuffle 2nd generation that just stopped playing audio podcasts. I've been listening to music and OTR and CBC Radio podcasts, and all of a sudden it stopped playing the podcasts. Music plays fine, but if I just load it with podcasts, and try to play them, my little light just blinks (saying "you don't have anything loaded!"). It still plays the music, but skips over each podcast.
The podcasts are good. I used to play the exact same ones a month or two ago - then it just stopped playing them. I can listen to the podcasts on Itunes, and can listen to them on my old Shuffle 1st generation.
    Help!

ooh, I did a bit more research and found a solution for my problem.
iPod shuffle won't play podcasts if its in shuffle mode.  You have to switch it to linear mode.
I did that and now it plays just fine.  Hopefully that's all that was wrong with yours as well.
I must have accidentally switched mine by accident and not realized it.

  • How to start audio podcast where stopped

I have begun listening to audio podcasts. How can I stop in the middle and the next day start where I stopped without having to listen to the whole thing again? I have an iPod Shuffle 3g.

    Hello SamStamport,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Have you enabled the *Remember Playback Position* from under the Options tab of the *Get Info* window for each podcast in iTunes?
