AUDIO PODCASTS ARE DOWNLOADING BACKWARDS "IN REVERSE ORDER"

HELLO,
I HAVE BEEN "DL (DOWNLOADING) "FREE AUDIO PODCASTS" FROM THE ITUNES STORE. I AM HAVING A HUGE PROBLEM WITH THE "EPISODES BEING DL TO MY IPOD CLASSIC "BACKWARDS". I HAVE TRIED DL FROM CHAPTER 1 THRU THE FINAL CHAPTER, AND HAVE IT DOWNLOADS ONTO MY IPOD AS THE LAST CHAPTER 1st,& THE 1st CHAPTER LAST. THEN I HAVE TURNED AROUND AND DL THE SAME PODCAST FROM THE "LAST CHAPTER" 1st THRU THE TO THE 1st CHAPTER LAST, AND IT STILL DOWNLOADS FROM THE LAST CHAPTER 1st THRU TO THE 1st CHAPTER LAST.
I HAVE TRIED THIS MANY,MANY TIMES, AND IT KEEPS DOING THE SAME THING.
FOR EXAMPLE: THE PODCAST NAMED "FORT LARAMIE". IT HAS 39 CHAPTERS, I HAVE DL IT FROM CHAPTER 1(PLAYING INDIAN), THRU THE FINAL CHAPTER #39(ARMY WIFE). AND WHEN I LOOK AT THE "DOWNLOADING PAGE, IT SHOWS THAT THEY ARE BEING DL IN THE CORRECT ORDER. BUT THEN WHEN I DL THE PODCAST, IT SHOWS THE LAST CHAPTER(ARMY WIFE) AS THE 1st CHAPTER, AND THE 1st CHAPTER(PLAYING INDIAN) AS THE LAST CHAPTER. THEN I HAVE TRIDE REVERSING THE ORDER (chapter #39-1ST, & chapter #1 last). AND IT STILL DL ONTO MY IPOD FROM THE LAST CHAPTER 1st & THE 1st CHAPTER LAST.
THIS ONLY HAPPENS ON SOME OF THE PODCASTS. I HAVE TRIED CONTACTING THE WEBSITES OF THE PODCASTS THAT I HAVE HAD THESE PROBLEMS WITH, AND THEY ""NEVER"" REPLY BACK. I AM SO FRUSTRAITED .
I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING FROM "REFRESHING MY LIBRARY", "RUNNING FULL DIAGNOSTIC TESTS" (which always comes back and says my system is running correctly), ect.
I AM TOTALLY LOST.
WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME? I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL. IF I COULD AFFORD TO HAVE APPLE SUPPORT HELP ME, I WHOUD. BUT I AM RETIRED AND ON A FIXED BUDGET AND BARELY MAKE ENDS MEET. SO I AM HOPING THAT SOME INTELLIGENT INDIVIDUAL OUT THERE WILL BE KIND ENOUGH TO HELP ME?
THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO WHOMEVER (if anyone) HAS THE KNOWLEDGE ANBOUT THIS STUFF TO HELP ME.
GOF BLESS EVERYONE,
75 STINGRAY

jfauth,
Welcome to Apple Discussions.
If you ultimately obtained the chronological order that you desired and expected by clicking on the "Date Received" column, why would there be a problem?
The fact that the user controls the eventual order is more important than the arbitrary default setting.

  • With iTunes 10, Computer Still Freezing When Podcasts are Downloading

For the last several versions of iTunes, my computer has been slowing down a LOT while podcasts are downloading, especially when a new iT version is first installed. Then things improve over time. Now, with iTunes 10.1.1.4, it's horrendous. ITunes takes forever to open, and then causes my computer to become completely unresponsive. It doesn't respond to mouse or keyboard inputs, so I can't minimize it or shut it down.
Sometimes when that happens, I can't even open Task Manager, but when I can, it indicates that iTunes is using between 95 and 98% of CPU. In that circumstance, I can't even shut down iTunes with TM. After 15 or 20 minutes and all the podcasts have downloaded, I'm able to use my computer again, even with iTunes open.
It happens with all podcasts, but obviously it's more of a problem when a big pcast is downloading.
Today, I got the famous blue screen of death. All my programs had frozen and I was trying to shut down iTunes. The blue screen said "kernel data inpage error," whatever that means.
With past versions, I've tried uninstalling and re-installing iT, but that has not helped.
All my other programs are working fine. Today I ran CCCleaner, AdAware, RegCure and Malware Bytes, but nothing changed. My McAfee anti-virus max scanning time is 10 seconds.
Any idea what could be going on here? Or how to begin troubleshooting this mess?

    Hi,
finally worked! I found this post and it has finally worked I understand it is the same as WHATHECK's answer so thanks WHATHECK!
You have to be certain that you have backed up your Library's and Playlists and that you are doing the one in the root (if like me you use a HD any old library/playlists instead of deleting them put them some were safe just incase and make sure you are re-creating the library from your root folder i.e user/music/itunes

  • We had to change the feed adress and the epsiode adresses. Now all the episodes of my podcast are downloaded (although i have downloaded them already). How can I make the changes in my feed and avoid that all the episodes are reloaded?

    Hello,
We had to change the feed adress (<itunes:new-feed-url>)and the epsiode adresses in the feed because the feed and the episode-files are on a new server. Now when i open my iTunes subscription of our podcast all the episodes of my podcast are downloaded again (although i have downloaded them already).
My Question therefore is: How can I make the changes in my feed and avoid that all the episodes are reloaded?
    Maybe have an answer?
    Thank you very much.

Thank you very much for your answer
As I see now, our 'guid' tags contain the episode URLs
To avoid this problem in the future i would like to change guid tags. Can you please tell me how a guid tag should look like if it is not the URL?
    Thank you for helping us!
ps now it looks like this eg:
    <guid isPermaLink="false">http://www.castyourart.com/podcasts/213_thinkglobal_en.mp4</guid>

  • Podcasts are downloaded to the wrong folder

I've moved my library to a network drive (Y:). However, new podcasts are still being downloaded to My Documents/My Music/iTunes/Podcasts
The Media folder location has been changed to Y:\Shared Music in the preferences, and there doesn't appear to be a separate option for a podcast folder, so why is it downloading to the default location instead of where I've told it to?

i am also having the same problems where iTunes has its own automatically assigned folder for it to store its completed podcast downloads, which on my PC it has chosen this C:\Users\chris\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Podcasts as its location for them to be stored at.
however, i dont like this and i would like 2 change my preferences on where the podcasts would b downloaded and then afta completion, they would be automatically be moved straight to the drive and folder location due to my own choosing so i know where my completed podcast which i had jus downloaded, would be in a specifically desegnated LABLED folder which is located on another drive thats available to use, and not to have it anywhere on my main PC's HD for Windows 7, which is its C: drive.
i hope u may b able 2 help me out with an answer shortly.
    kind regards,
    chris

  • Audio Podcasts are clipped

I've noticed a problem with the audio podcasts I subscribe to in iTunes. The end of each podcast is clipped off. I'm judging about 2 seconds worth. There's not that much left at the end of the podcast (other than contact information, and that's frustrating enough), but this should not be happening. Is anyone else having the same problems or know of a fix?

    Muse,
It happens with ESPN Radio, MacCast, all the ones I subscribe to from NPR and almost ALL of the ones I subscribe to from individuals. It only seems to affect audio podcasts and not video (as far as I can see). I've been guessing the problem was in iTunes or in the downloading process. I have updated iTunes and QT to the latest versions, and I keep them updated through Software Update.

  • Podcasts are downloading, but not showing up in Itunes Library !

Hi guys.... this is d3riving me up the wall !!!
I'm running Windows XP. I recently had some work done on my computer and had to restore Itunes. Initially, nothing worked, but now the only issue I have is with podcasts.
I select the episode I want for download and that works OK. Once the download is completed, the episode is nowhere to be found in Itunes. When I look in the 'podcast' folder in the itunes library in Windows, it is not listed.
I did a search and found these references...
    E:\...\Downloads\Podcasts\Fischer's Brick_PE'S Chess Cast.tmp\
    E:\...\Podcasts\Fischer's Brick_PE'S Chess Cast.tmp\download.mp4 1,310,720
    E:\...\Downloads\Podcasts\Fischer's Brick_PE'S Chess Cast.tmp\Info.plist 1474
Note 1) Fischer's Brick is the name of the episode of PE'S podcast
Note 2) 1,310,720 on line 2 and 1474 are the file sizes.
Note 3'E' I have set Itunes up on my 'E' drive rather than 'C' which I believe is normal. Don't know if that is relevant as 'Songs' Audiobooks seem to work ok with these settings.
If I select the second line and tell windows to open it in Itunes nothing happens. Actually, what happens is that ITUNES will start playing a song that I downloaded that day!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

It's the iTunes library files which, along with the iTunes Music folder and some other files, are found in the iTunes folder that iTunes uses to know the contents of the Library.
It sounds like you may have only copied the iTunes Music folder to your new computer, not the entire iTunes folder. Can you confirm whether or not that is the case?
If that's what happened, repeat the process , making sure the whole iTunes folder goes along for the ride.

  • My podcasts are downloading bigger files than the stated MB's

In iTunes 11 when my podcast download some download larger files than stated in the download panel. one I noticed said podcast size 213MB but was still downloading at 600+ MB anyone elce noticed this?

I have the same problem and I use iTunes on a PC. It appears that when a podcast download is broken it resarts from the begining and adds that to what it has already downloaded. So you can end up with the same content in the podcast file over and over.
I recreated this on a different PC to make certain that it was not because I was using an older PC.The same thing happened. I only noticed it when I started to use iTunes 11.

  • Audio Podcasts are not working

I recently made our site's 5th update and for some reason each podcast, when you click on it, does not load. All you get is a big "Q" for Quicktime with a question mark on it for each of the podcasts. Why is that? I've completely erased the site, re-loaded (index included), and still have the same problem.
Interestingly enough, Firefox and Internet Explorer loaded them just fine. SAFARI was the one giving me the problem! What gives?
    Here's a link to the site: http://faithmountainaz.com/FaithMountain/Podcast/Podcast.html

I don't know where to put the blame but the issue seems to be related to the 7.1.5+ QuickTime security updates and Safari.
    http://faithmountainaz.com/FaithMountain/Podcast/2727035D-A8C8-4DBB-A487-8B5D483 5EABB_files/Redeemed%20From%20Sickness.m4a
You file works as intended when opened directly in QuickTime Player.
Your server is not configured to open the URL above in a browser window but the iWeb page code (inside a javascript file) forces the QuickTime plug-in be used. This is the expected behavior of iWeb and its code is correct.
The real issue is the file extension.
Currently you use .m4a (MPEG-4 Audio). But that file extension should be for audio files only and yours includes a chapter track and a video track (even a still image is video).
These "enhanced" Podcasts should really use the .m4v file extension (MPEG -4 Video) because of these extra tracks.
If you first duplicate your current file and then use the Finder to change the extension from .m4a to .m4v then republish the page using iWeb your file will work with Safari.
Not a real fix and only Apple can do that.

  • Is there any way I can see what individual podcasts are downloading like I used to be able to?

  • Russian video podcasts are deleted after downloading

    Hello,
I am using iTunes 10 and have a problem. When I subscribe to any Russian video podcast I can't download it. Actually iTunes downloads the file but it doesn't appear in the podcasts tab and it shows an exclamation mark next to it. Audio podcasts are OK. I think, the problem is related with Russian names of the podcasts.
    Thanks in advance.

Are there any Apple support people on this forum?
Usually, no. Since this is a user-to-user forum, Apple do not usually take part in the discussions. I'm not convinced they would be able to add to what I suggested previously, which is that you contact the producer of one of the Podcasts affected.
I'm not sure where the temporary folder (that you mention) is located, but that would be standard for any download. The part completed file would be downloaded to somewhere and then possibly transferred to the correct folder (by iTunes) after the download has finished.
The important thing is the message you see -
"There is a problem with adding this podcast. This file may be corrupted or have an unsupported format"
which suggests that the file is faulty before iTunes tries downloading it or that it is in a format the will not play in iTunes or on an iPod. Since the file (Podcast) you are trying to download is not produced by iTunes or Apple, is not stored or held by iTunes or Apple and is not the responsibilty of iTunes or Apple, but is downlaoded directly from the producer's server, that's why I suggested that you contact the producer.
Even if it's every Podcast you try - contact one of them and see what happens. Even if the problem turns out to be an Apple issue; if or when the Podcast producers solve the problem, you will then know what to say to other Podcast producers when you contact them.

  • HT3281 I downloaded an audio podcast on iPad2 using iTunes and can't find it

I've used iTunes on Mac, on PC on iPhone.  I downloaded a single episode of an audio podcast over wifi on my new iPad2 using iTunes. progress bar finished but there is no obvious place to tap to play the file and in fact I can't find the file to play it. Podcast icon at the bottom of the home screen on iTunes just leads me to the main page of featured Podcasts. I can't find my way to my Library or this particular file that I just downloaded.
Can someone help an iPad newbie find a single audio podcast file that I just downloaded? Where did iTunes put it?? Not in music, not in podcasts not in audiobooks. It's all "featured" and "charts" and if I go to "Downloads" there is a single link to "ITunes Store Terms and Conditions" . ***.
This is so non-intuitive and honestly coloring my new iPad experience very poorly. Why Apple makes the layout and interface so different on devices is part of my problem but not my question. I listen to a lot of Podcasts and wanted it to be an easy to version of iTunes like I'm used to on my Mac and PC. Why is it so crazily different looking? So frustrating as I evaluate whether I keep this gaget.
    thanks in advance

So I leave one app and go to a different app named "Music" to listen to an audio podcast? If I download a video podcast do I go to videos" app?
That is exactly where you go to watch a video podcast. Since that thought struck you after I told you where the audio podcasts are - doesn't it seem to make sense to you? Audio in the Music app - Video content in the Videos app?
New users want to play their music and videos in iTunes on the iPad because that is where they play that content on their computers. That's a natural assumption and that is where the confusion starts. iTunes on the iPad is simply a link to the store - not the media player like it is on the computer.
After two years of using iDevices every day, I am used to the way that they work - but I tend to agree that knowing how iTunes, the Music App and the Videos app work - is not the most intuitive design for a lot of new Apple device users.
And to top it all off - The iPad keeps changing with every new iOS release. In the previous iOS - the Music App was the iPod app. When it changed to the Music App, it confused new users even more.
There is a free iPad user guide book available in the iBook Store that is a fairly comprehensive manual. It is certainly worth downloading. Honestly, I have picked up tons of knowledge on this support site, by fumbling and fooling with the device by myself, and by relying on one of my best friends - Google!

  • Podcast episodes listed backwards

I have submitted my podcast to iTunes and I was very happy to know that I have been approved to have my podcast added to iTunes. When I found my podcast in iTunes I realised that the episodes that I have in the store are in reverse order, ie. episode 1 is episode 4 etc. I have used blogger to post my audio files and have used Feedburner to create the feed link. Is there anything that I can do to make it so that episode 1 is episode 1 and that every episode that follows is in order of its creation?
links to my feed and podcast are here.

    Hey there!
It looks like your podcasts are listed backwards in the iTunes Store. Here is the information you need to get those sorted correctly from the following article:
    Working with iTunes
    https://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html#order
The order in which the episodes appear is based on the <pubDate> for each item, with the most recent episodes appearing at the top of the list. You can override the <pubDate> using the <itunes:order> tag.
    <itunes:order>
This tag can be used to override the default ordering of episodes on the store.
This tag is used at an <item> level by populating with the number value in which you would like the episode to appear on the store. For example, if you would like an <item> to appear as the first episode in the podcast, you would populate the <itunes:order> tag with “1”. If conflicting order values are present in multiple episodes, the store will use default ordering (pubDate).
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Can't listen to iTunesU audio podcasts at 2x speed

After upgrading to 3.1.1, the iTunesU audio podcasts were separated out of my other podcasts. I've now lost the ability to play those audio podcasts at 2x speed. I upgraded to 3.0 because of the 2x speed option, so this is very frustrating. Is there any way to reactivate that option or move my iTunesU stuff back in with the rest of my audio podcasts?

ah, you've come across 3.1s most irritating bug (in my opinion).
podcasts are now listed in random order. if you look through the forums there are several posts about this.
have played around with this quite a lot, only way i can seem to get around it is to create playlists (just playlists, not smart playlists - they also seem to be broken).
please drop apple a line and let them know - the more people that do this obviously the more chance of us getting a fix sometime soon: http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipodtouch.html

  • Iweb issues - photos are put in a RANDOM ORDER when added to photo grid

My website created with i-WEB contains a lot of photos.
When I add them to a photo grid (on a page using the "Photos" template, by dragging and dropping from Finder) the order of the photos is randomized by i-web.
They are kind of in reverse order (highest file number first) but with a large number of files just randomly arranged in no particular order. The files have simple numerical names like "img_100, img_101, img_102" etc which are in numerical / date order in Finder, but when loaded into i-web are not in any order.
I can't see a feature / option anywhere in I-web to re-arrange images according to name. I can of course manually rearrange them which is fine for a dozen images, but not when I have 500.
I have tried adding a small number of images to see if it's a problem with overloading the software with too many, but the problem happens with 5 images as well as 500.
    (this is i-web '08)
    Matt

The photo app puts files in date/time order and ignores their names.
You can look for another app that may honor file names (sorry, I don't know any to recommend) or you can find a program that alters your file properties. If all the files have properties that read the same date and time, then it defaults to alphabetical order

  • IPhoto slideshow shown in reverse order

I've looked at this problem on Apple Support and many other areas but I cannot show a slideshow in the order that the photos are in the library.
I'm using Macericks and iPhoto 9.5.1.
No matter which photos I select they are always shown in reverse order when I click 'Slideshow" at the bottom of iPhoto or when I create a new slideshow.
I've tried all the suggetsions, repairing phtot library etc, but still no luck.
    Any help would be appreciated.

When you are playing your slideshow, click the screen to bring up the vido controls, like this:
Click the "gears"-icon to reveal the settings.
In the "Settings"  tab disable "Shuffle Slide order" and enable "Use settings as default".
Then play again. Does that bring the correct direction back?
