Audio "pop" since yesterday

Yesterday, I performed the Safari Beta and the 10.4.10 upgrades.
Since then, I occasionally hear a "pop" through the audio system.
I've opened Garage Band and run a loop. No help.
I've trashed the Sound Plist. No Help.
This occurs in both Safari and in Firefox.
There are no new software downloads since the upgrades were run.
I can't find any correlation between open apps, elapsed time or tasks being run and the "pop".
I'd appreciate any insight!

Hello. Just wanted to say that I am having the same problem after 10.4.10. Updated several days ago but never turned on my external speakers until last night. I noticed that any function that had a sound with it (adjusting the volume, empty the trash) I would get thump or pop through my speakers right before the sound would play. Then about 20 to 30 seconds later, if no other sound had played, I would get another thump/pop. This same sound would only be feard when to Mac was shutting down which would be associated with the computer turning off. I did an archive and install to 10.4.7. Everthing was working good. When I ran Software Update and updated back to 10.4.10, the thump/pop was back. It seems to me that the amplifier (or whatever it is) in the computer powers up right before it has to send out a sound and then after a given time with out sound, it shuts down again. I am considering an archive and install again but just downloading the 10.4.9 update and sticking with it til 10.5

Fade effect causes audio popping

Hello,
I have had a recent issue with iMovie which is only getting worse. Whenever I use the video effect of either fade in or fade out, there is a popping sound which get written into the audio track.
I have tried various fixes but nothing seems to work. It started out as a few quiet audio pops, but now is completely warping the audio. Any ideas?
Basically I have had to go through the painstaking process of extracting the audio and then fixing it in Garageband. This works, but is tedious and takes about 4 times as long. Since I have quite a few clips to process in this way, I need to fix this issue. I really appreciate any help that others could provide with this.

If anyone else has this problem - you fix it by making sure you pan the audio to the center, not left or right.

Since yesterday, clicking to read my email gets a blank window, not the email. Same w/ windows where data should be entered (like with online banking). Help!

Since yesterday, when I click to read my email I get a blank window instead of the usual window with the email itself. The same is happening with windows where data should be entered, like those virtual keyboards for online banking login, or windows where you can add records (like daily electricity and gas consumption). In all these situations, a window should pop-up and pop-up it does - but always blank.
I already unistalled/reinstalled Firefox and reset it "to its default state".

Hello,
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

Lenovo x201 Audio Popping/Buzzing/Stuttering

Okay. I'm at my wits end. This has been going on for about a year now. I've learned to ignore it, but now that I really want to use my laptop for music, it is getting annoying. There are times when playing audio that the quality starts to degrade. The audio starts to "drop" intermittently and then there's a harsh static that smooths out to an intermittant pop and then the audio drops out again as if a CD is skipping then the static. Speakers are fine because I send the audio to other devices and get the same result. When the audio device is "upset", even system sounds have static.
I haven't been able to play a song all the way through without audio dropping or static for a while now. All of my drivers are up to date (why hasn't Lenovo updated the audio drviers since 2011?). My BIOS is up to date. Windows is up to date. Night mode is off. I've read all the fixes. So far, my issue is not fixed. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any ideas? Is it the audio processor? Or the audio management software?
It is quite frustrating because I put a lof of money into this laptop and can't listen to any music. I have an i7 intel with 8gb of ram and an SSD drive with gigabit ethernet. Latency should never be an issue. I feel I shouldn't have to figure out how to get clear sound out of a $2700 latop.

I would try booting a Linux live distro like Ubuntu from a USB Stick or CD/DVD (if you have an ultrabase with optical drive) and listen to some music to see if your X201 exhibits the same behavior.

you have to make sure that CFWD Bridge Mode under the Line tab of the SPA9000 where the SPA400 is registered is set to ALL...include VMSP Bridge and XFER Bridge Mode as well..power cycle then check if you are still getting one-way audio

Can't export to movie / test movie since yesterday... even reinstalled!!

I was working on a project for a few days... It all worked
fine, I was able to export to flash movie, test the movie etc..
But since yesterday, I can't export to mive anymore... it
asks me the file name and then the settings window appears, as
usual. When I click OK, the progress bar appears and either it
freezes, or I get a Windows error message pops up saying Adobe
Flash stopped responding...
I even reinstalled Flash, didnt work.. I then deleted some
layers , just to check if it would work, but now I got the message
"flash is out of memory"... and it froze again... (i never got that
memory message again)..
I'm using Flash CS3, Vista 64bit, 4GB Ram ...

I've had this problem a number of times. Usually you don't
have enough memory. One way I get around it is to take your
completed file and copy all the frames and paste them into a new
document. Do not save the new document and then try and export the
files. This should work.

T410 - high DPC latency in ACPI.sys on BIOS update (leads to audio pops and crackles)

I recently updated my Thinkpad T410's BIOS because the fan wasn't working properly. The fan is working fine now, but ever since the BIOS update I've been experiencing severe audio pops and crackles. I used the tool LatencyMon to inspect, and the chief culprit seems to be ACPI.sys, with execution times as long as 10ms.
I've tried disabling all the power management options in the BIOS and changing everything to max performance. I've also tried disabling other various devices such as the network adapters, but nothing seems to help. Any idea?

You can try to disable ACPI.sys in device manager or uninstall and reinstall the software.

Audio popping in flv files from Compressor - Help!

I am getting an occasional digital audio pop in the flv videos i am creating in compressor. The audio is coming from digitized Betacam SP master tapes. The audio levels look good and sound fine monitoring the tape, in FCP, and in Quicktime if i export the clip as a Quicktime clip. But when i play back the encoded flv file i hear the offending "pop". The "pops" don't seem to coincide with a peaking audio or video transition. I am stumped! Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Aaah, I wish I could help! I have exactly the same problem! I was going to post about it, but since there's this workaround, I didn't want to take up bandwidth with a problem that was not a total showstopper.
Indeed. I have stopped doing what I used to do before. Before, I used to select "All" in compressor - the files generated were the video, the aiff, and the ac3. Well after burning a few coasters through DVDSP 4.1 where there was picture but no sound, I realized that I needed to drag the aiff file to compressor again, and use that - at that point everything is fine. So, right now, my workflow is to export just the video from FCP through compressor, let it encode. Then export the aiff separately and encode it to a3 in compressor, then import the video and ac3 to DVDSP for good results. In short, no more exporting "All" from FCP through compressor, it's a waste of time.
But as to why, I have no idea, and I'm eager to hear what folks have to say! Anyhow, just letting you know you are not alone. Btw. my set up is: FCP 4.5 HD, compressor 2.1 and DVDSP 4.1.0... what's yours?

How to remove/minimze audio "pop" or "click"

I have an audio pop/click within a clip and have been unable to figure a way to remove it or at least minimize it. I can see it in the viewer when the wave form is displayed Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thank you for the suggested approaches...since it is a split second pop...and dialogue is not an issue, I think I will go with cutting and pasting. I have Soundsoap...but haven't used it much...but I may experiment once I finish this project.
I was hoping there was some kind of (simple) audio filter in FCP that would limit the pop...but apparently there isn't, at least not one that I could find.
Anyway, thanks again for your help...I'm off to cut, copy and paste.

Audio pops in new version--I'm mad as ****!

Just upgraded to iMovie HD (iLife 05) before reading this forum. BIG MISTAKE! Now my previously pristine projects in iMovie 4 are making audio pops during transitions. Has this been fixed at all, realizing now from this forum that this has been a long-standing problem since iLife 05 was first issued?
What the heck happened to Apple's quality control here ? How come they let out an inferior product from the one it replaced ? Greed ???
I became so annoyed and frustrated with this degradation that I decided to delete the whole iLife 05 and tried to reinstall iLife 04. I couldn't! The OS won't let me! Does anyone know how to do this ?

So it's nothing new in iMovie 5.
(But why Apple hasn't fixed a problem that has been around such a long time is beyond me.)
I concur Lennart. It's by far the most irritating thing about iMovie (which is still a great program though). The workaround mentioned in Apple's article doesn't work for me, nor for many other users based on what I've read in this forum.

My Sprint cellphone has not received emails since yesterday and I entered the correct settings incoming and outgoing from my Thunderbird email account, advise?

I have not received emails on my Sprint Galaxy S3 since yesterday morning. I can send but not receive. I have matched my settings to the phone from my Thunderbird account. I thought I had everything synced. Sprint told me there may have been a change in server settings from Thunderbird but I never received any notification from Thunderbird. I am at a loss and not very good at this so any help will be appreciated.

Thunderbird is not an email provider. It has no servers to have settings to be changed. It is email client software just like the one you have on your phone. You would need to get the correct server settings from your email provider and set your phone to use them correctly.
Too bad that the "helpless desk" at Sprint is not smart enough to know that.
Thunderbird software does not run on any mobile phones so troubleshooting your phone is outside the scope of this forum.
One thought, is your email account set up as IMAP or POP?
You really need an IMAP account if you are going to use multiple devices to check your email. If you use POP and have your computer set to remove the emails off the server then there are no messages left on the server of your email provider for the phone to download. IMAP email is server based and the messages are left on the server and remotely viewed by the remote devices.

Yes about 10. I switched off iMessages for 5 minutes. Then wen I turned it back on they all came through

I updated to iOS 8 on iPhone 5s and now iMessage will not verify my email. It has said "Verifyng" since yesterday, but has not sent a verification email. I checked my iCloud settings for that email address and it shows "pending".

The problem on my Intel Mac mini with external Klipsch speakers (two mid-range/high and a subwoofer) is REAL obvious as the system emits a hum like a Spinal Tap amplifier turned up to #11 when 10.4.10 powers down the audio circuitry
Then, if I play a song in iTunes, it first pops and the hum disappears right before playing.
Quite annoying. I restored the mini from a recent backup to 10.4.9. Problem gone.
I'm glad I test updates on the mini before applying them to my Intel iMac 24. I guess I'll just hide & watch what happens before doing any more updates.

Please. Just do the right thing and fix the audio.
There is no need to power cycle the audio subsystem to save .0005 amps on the laptop line.
And then to make your Mac mini/iMac/other desktop users have to put up with it when using AC power is ridiculous.
Put the audio subsystem back like it was in 10.4.9 and let the laptop battery freaks looking for mini-amp savings get a "work-a-round".

Backup is unable to make a restorable by Disk Utility backup. You can restore pieces of the software as outlined in my FAQ about backing up user data:

But to be able to restore a backup with Disk Utility, you need a cloning utility to have made the backup.
