Audio poping or skipping on DVD

I am having problems with the audio popping or skipping after burning to DVD. I have rendered all in Final Cut and Exported to Compressor then loaded in to Dvd Studio Pro and burned the DVD. Below if the build format that was listed during the burn. I do not know where some of the items listed came from.

I think your problem may be in how you encoded your assets. Whats the bit rate? and did you use AC3 or PCM audio?
Also try switching off "lossless linking" - Ive written several DVD-R which carried errors due to this function being on - possible but fairly unlikely - maybe

I made a movie with iMovie and cannot get the audio when I burn into dvd. I would like to transfer video to a dvd to be played in any computer and TV

Go to the Map mode in your iDVD project and make sure the blue bin at the left is empty.  That's where you drag slideshows to if you want the DVD to open immediately to that slideshow and bypass the menu.
If there is an item in there drag it out.

  • Can't get audio to work for HD DVD

Anyone have any insight into what audio enoding works for HD DVD? I've tried both aiff and ac-3 to go along with MPEG2 video and my Toshiba HD A2 won't play back sound from either type. Help!

I have used both on the Toshiba A2. I assume the build file had sound when you tested it in the Apple DVD Player?
I have not played with the audio settings much on the Toshiba, do not know if there is a setting there that can change things.
I can take a look and run some tests to see if I can get it happening. Also if you like I can put together a small project to see if you can also get it to run.

  • Major Problem with audio from Final Cut to DVd Studio Pro

I am posting this problem again because no further responses have been received regarding my first post. I purchased an MR-HD100 Firestore device from Focus Enhancements. When I use clips from it alone or with other clips created by digitizing from min DV tape on a sequence or timeline the audio works fine in Final Cut. When I import any type of file and believe me I have been trying all kinds of suggestions and wasting almost a dozen DVDs. Whether it be a Final Cut QT file, going straight to compressor and producing an MPEG-2 file and a dolby audio file .ac3 importing them into DVD SP and making the adjustments that MR. Harbsmeier suggested DIAL NORM at -31dbfs and COMPRESSION MODE to NONE, as well as the suggestion to make an aif file with the audio and importing it into DVD SP as well as the video. I get the same result with every try, the clips made with the firestore are so low you cannot hear them. NOTHING WORKS!!!!. And yes I have tried making a DVD with just digitized footage and yes it turned out fine. I called Apple support today and that gentlemen basically told me I am out of warranty so phone help was not available. However, he made a suggestion of changing sequence presets in Final Cut which has now developed into another problem. I have messed up my settings so bad I don't know where I am I can't LOG & CAPTURE in the manner I used to ???? Could someone please advise as to why this problem exists and the correction to resolve it. I do not understand why the audio works fine playing the sequence on the timeline in Final Cut. It plays fine after making a Final Cut QT file. AND it plays fine in simulation mode in DVD Studio Pro. However after you burn a DVD the audio from the firestore clips are not to be heard unless you crank up the speakers or TV to it's maximum level and you can barely make it out. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME Projects are stacking up and was really hoping to go tapeless

Try building the project to your desktop and then open the Video_TS in the Mac DVD player application.
How does it play/sound?  This application is the best way to see and hear how your burned DVD should play vs. just using simulator and burning.
Just to clarify- are you taking your FC QT file into Compressor and creating a MPG-2 and AC3 file or are you bringing your FC QT directly into DSP?
What codec are you exporting from FC? ProRes422, DV, H264?
Open the FC QT in QT and apple+I to see this.
What does it say for audio?

  • Audio and video skip after installing USB Sound Blaster Audigy 2

Hi community,?Since installing my USB Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX, audio and video skip when being played with either windows media player, winamp, iTunes, neroshow, winDVD 7, creatives own media players etc. in fact anything I can try, won't work. Games are fine, in fact the sound is brilliant. I'd be really grateful for any feedback on this, not being able to listen to music is driving me crazy. Thanks.

Hello thebro90,I had the same problem. After tryed everything, uninstall, reinstall audio drivers, etc, I finally manage to solved it by updating the CPU drivers... I have a AMD Atlhon X2 4800+Never had the problem again.Best regards.

  • Skipping / jerky DVD DTS audio on Audigy 2 ZS also crash when using Media Source DVD-A pla

I've been having a difficult time playing 5. DVD audio using my new Audigy 2 ZS card. I have updated drivers from Creative.
When I try to play the DTS track on a DVD-A (e.g. Queen's "A Night at the Opera"), I get choppy skipping sound -- the music sounds good, but it skips and is jerky. The PCM 2-channel stereo on the same disc sounds fine. Dolby Surround on another DVD-A disk (not DTS), "Trey Anastasio" also starts out jerky and skippy, but then seems to "settle down" in the middle of the first track. The Creative Mediasource DVD-A player doesn't work at all on-- as soon as it launches, it crashes and reboots my computer (which suggests to me that it must be some driver conflict issue or something). That problem only happens when playing certain discs -- e.g. the Queen disk and the
    DVD-A of Yes' "Fragile."
I have installed on my system Windows Media Player 0, WinDVD 4 (OEM), Nero Showtime and Creative's Media Source DVD-A player.
    I am using a brand-new HP Pavilion a730n Windows XP SP2 52Mb RAM.
    DVD player is Lite-ON DVD/RW SOHW-832S
Video card is nVidia GeForce 6600
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

ok, I normally use powerdvd 6, now with dts 96/24 decoding pack, and I have the latest patch to version 47 installed.
it is the same again: when using 6 speakers in audio configuration menu, queen dvd plays perfectly, when using spdif output and decoding via zs card, sound is distorted. I noticed that if I activate "show information" in powerdvd, detected sound track changes between "dts 5.0" and "dts 5. 96/24" all the time in spdif mode.
is there a problem with powerdvd AND windvd or the audigy2 zs ?

  • Audio skipping on dvd

I'm brand new at Idvd and have pretty successfully made my first dvd of a slide show of pictures from my daughters play. Since it's almost 7 minutes I managed to join two song tracks in itunes. Everything looks and sounds fine on preview. I'm downloading onto Fugi DVD-r at the slowest burn speed. But there is a sound gap of amount 2 seconds during one of the songs. I believe the slide stalls too because after the two seconds everything is in sync and finishes fine. Any ideas how I can correct the music. It sounds fine when I listen to it through the itunes library.

    Welcome to iDVD Discussions.
onto Fugi DVD-r at the slowest burn speed.
How are you controlling the burn speed?
Could be a media issue... I had a friend give me some Fuji DVD-R that gave me a burn error.
I recommend a disk image burned to Verbatim DVD-R at 4X or slower using Toast or Disk Utility.
David Pogue also recommends Verbatim on page 356 of his latest book:
iMovie HD & iDVD 6: The Missing Manual
Quoting David: "Cheaper brands don't use the same amount of organic dyes and are more likely to suffer premature deaths."

  • Irritating audio interruptions (music skips)

For Christmas, I got a nice, new, shiny Satellite L755-S5256. Its a really nice laptop, but since the first time I played audio, the audio has skipped. It is actually rather subtle, as most of the time, you don't even notice the noise until after it happens (if that makes sense). Other times however, it is very noticeable.
It doesn't matter what audio is playing, or what program I am using (movies in media player, songs in itunes, videos on the web, dvds, etc). It doesn't matter what speakers I use (built-in, headphones, etc).
I thought it might have been because I was using the "eco" mode, but even on "optimized performance" the issue persists.
As I've said, the laptop is new, and I keep everything on my computer up-to-date.
Finally, I apologize for any grammatical/spelling/etc. problems as I have written this on my phone (which can have a mind of its own sometimes).
    Thank you

Actually, all I had to do was disable the wi-fi (the first time I just did the fn+f8 method, which doesn't work)
You have to right-click the wi-fi icon in the task bar > Open Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings (third option on the left toolbar) > right-click "Wireless Network.Connection" > click "Disable" > restart computer > log back in and re-enable the Wireless Network Connection.
Worked for me. Haven't had it skip since I did this. Hope it helps!
how do you log back in if you have no WiFi connection..?

  • Optical drive reads audio cd's and burned dvd's, but not commercial dvds

I just upgraded my macbook hard drive, doing a clean install of Mac OS X on the drive in an external enclosure, then copying the remaining files, doing all the software updates, and swapping out my old drive. Everything works so far, except... the DVD player will no longer play commercial dvd's (movies and tv). The drive hardware seems ok, in that it reads audio CD's (through iTunes) and DVD's of tv shows burned on my home recorder... which suggests that the DVD player software is ok, too. Did a setting get changed in my software, where it thinks I'm putting in the wrong regional dvd type? The disk goes in, spins and makes noise, and, after a short while ejects out.

    Here's what I get:

  • Apple's DVD Player: audio in-sync. External DVD Player: audio out of sync

I exported my Sequence from FCP to QT, used compressor to make m2v and ac3 (Dolby) files, then used DVD SP to burn a DVD.
When I play the DVD on my Mac Pro using Apple's DVD Player, MPEG Streamclip or VLC, the audio is in sync with respect to the images, FCP's Canvas and FCP's QT export.
But when I play the DVD using any of three different external DVD players, the audio momentarily drifts out of sync by 30 to 40 frames, near the end of my 30-minute program, but is back in sync after about a minute, when the shot at hand ends and the next shot begins.
More specifically, it's as if the video lags by about 30 to 40 frames, but there is no stuttering or other obvious visual sign that this is happening.
Why would Apple's DVD Player, MPEG Streamclip or VLC play the audio in sync while these external DVD Players play it out of sync?
I should add that in order to verify that the TVs to which the external DVD players are attached are not the source of the problem, I monitored the audio using headphones connected directly to the audio outputs of the DVD Players as well as connected to the headphone jacks of the TVs, and there was no difference, i.e. in both cases, the audio drifts out of sync momentarily, as I describe above.
I can only think that DVD SP is muxing the m2v and ac3 file in such a way that software DVD players can demux it without difficulty, but hardware DVD players cannot.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
    Thanks.

Please tell us what was wrong.

  • Please Help! No Audio on half of my DVD!

Hello. I created a project in iMovie. I didn't do much, just digitized my clips and imported into iDVD. Once in iDVD I created a menu and a slideshow. For the slideshow, I had it "fit to audio" with no transitions. (This is a DVD of a wedding I did) I had the wedding & reception as 1 chapter. The wedding is an hour long and the reception is apprx. 15-20mins long. When the DVD is burned and I play it in my DVD player... there is audio for all execpt the last 5 mins of the wedding. Then when the reception comes on, there is audio for about 1 min, then it goes away. This has happened on 7+ DVD's I have burned, which now have be come coasters. The audio is on the clips from iMovie. Also, on my latest burn, the audio comes in and out a few times on the slideshow. But the majority of the song is still there. Can anyone help. The people I did this for are real anxious to get this. Thank You! ~Mike

Was your camcorder set to record 16-bit audio, not 12-bit? If recorded as 12-bit, change the setting and share back to your camcorder and record as 16-bit this time. Import into a new iMovie HD project.

  • Can I download a song or audio clip from a commercial DVD? (and how?)

I don't even know if this is the right forum but I've tried searching in iTunes & iDVD and can't find the answer.
Is it possible to download a short section of audio, a song for example, from a DVD of a mainstream Hollywood movie? If so, how? Can I save it in iTunes so that I can listen on my iPod?
Sorry if you're offended by such a basic question.
    Mike

    No.
Commercial DVD's are encrypted to prevent just such a thing.
It is ILLEGAL to break this encryption.

  • Audio drop out while playing DVD

I import a quick time file from Final Cut Pro into DVD Studio Pro. I burn my DVD and it plays just fine in my MacPro. However, when I play it in my home DVD player (and other people's home DVD player), the audio drops real low when there are not two channels of audio playing.
For example . . . At the start of the piece when just music is playing, the audio levels are real low. But when the voice track comes in, all audio channels come up to their normal level.
I would love any assistance with this problem. Thanks!

I too have been experiencing this problem recently. It does sound like my hard drive is falling a sleep and then has to start up again every few minutes. I'm running the latest version of iTunes and have a 300GB internal hardrive in my G4 Tower running the latest 10.4 OS. I though it was an energy saver issue and turned off "put hard disk to sleep" as well as turned off the screen save and everything else. Not ideal but am in the process of testing it to see if it's related.
    Strange this would happen.

  • Audio drops out when burning DVD

    Hello -
I have imported itunes to play behind the video clips - it plays well on screen and through Quicktime Player, but after burning to DVD either through toast or iDVD the camera audio is there but not the itunes. Any suggestions??

    Hi CC:
    Welcome to discussions!
Were the songs purchased from iTunes Store? If so, they are most likely protected and you will need to burn them to an Audio CD and import from that.

  • Problems skipping on dvd player

    Hello,
I made a movie with imovie &  burned 30+ dvds for clients and tested just the first few min of each, figuring they would be good to go. Turns out they ALL skip in the same spots 16+ min into the movie. Arggg! Why is this doing this and how can I fix it?

This is the workflow recommended so as to cull out any problems before having to burn a single disk:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatium, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
Burning from a disk image lets you burn additional copies at a later date without having to go thru the encoding process again and keep iDVD open all the time.  You should also shut stop burning for a while after burning around 4-5 disks in a row to cool the laser.
