Audio pops in new version--I'm mad as ****!

Just upgraded to iMovie HD (iLife 05) before reading this forum. BIG MISTAKE! Now my previously pristine projects in iMovie 4 are making audio pops during transitions. Has this been fixed at all, realizing now from this forum that this has been a long-standing problem since iLife 05 was first issued?
What the heck happened to Apple's quality control here ? How come they let out an inferior product from the one it replaced ? Greed ???
I became so annoyed and frustrated with this degradation that I decided to delete the whole iLife 05 and tried to reinstall iLife 04. I couldn't! The OS won't let me! Does anyone know how to do this ?

So it's nothing new in iMovie 5.
(But why Apple hasn't fixed a problem that has been around such a long time is beyond me.)
I concur Lennart. It's by far the most irritating thing about iMovie (which is still a great program though). The workaround mentioned in Apple's article doesn't work for me, nor for many other users based on what I've read in this forum.

  • I just reinstalled and this is the question that show "You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Do you want to quit and use the latest version of iPhoto, or do you want to create a new photo library?"  what do i do next

I just reinstalled and this is the pop up that shows "You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Do you want to quit and use the latest version of iPhoto, or do you want to create a new photo library?"  what do i do next? it just keeps popping up and loading but only gives a quit button?

    Update it.
How old is your Mac? If it's very recent you need to update via the App Store
If you purchased at the App Store you need to update via the App Store
Otherwise you update via Softare Update

  • Can't open current library, changes have been made in a newer version.

I plugged my iPhone into it's dock and iPhoto opened as usual, but then a prompt popped up and said:
"You can't open your current photo library using version of iPhoto. You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto."
I understand what it means, but I don't have a newer version of iPhoto, so how did this happen? And, more importantly how do I fix it?

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I just installed iTunes on my new laptop.  When I click on the desktop icon I receive a pop up that says "The file iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes".  I have no idea what this means or what to do about it.  I can't even find a file on my computer like the one referred to in the pop up.  I am currently considering keeping my old laptop if it is the only way for me to continue to access iTunes.  What should I do to fix this?

What version of iTunes are you using? An .itl file is something that Windows uses, or very old versions of iTunes on Mac. The library file on Macs is now .xml and has been since late iTunes 4.
Is iTunes running ok without any problems after you OK that message? If it is, then you may be able to ignore it if you can't account for why you're getting it. But make sure you take backups in case something happens in the future.

  • I had an old version of firefox & it made me upgrade to a newer version, however once I upgraded it said it does not work with my Mac that is a OS 10.4 & not I cannot access or download firefox, how can I download a older version for my Mac?

I had firefox on my computer and it made me download the newer version, but once I downloaded it, it said it does not work on my computer which is a Mac OS 10.4 and now I cannot use firefox at all on my computer. How do I download an older version that will work on my computer?

As of Firefox 4.0 and newer one needs at least OSX 10.5+ and Intel hardware.
The latest you can use on your Intel with OSX 10.4.11 is Firefox 3.6.25 (released recently) which can be found at http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
If you were to update to say OSX 10.5.8 then you can use Firefox 9.0.1

  • New version of object popping up on Deletion of T Code

    Hi
I removed a Tcode from a role. This Tcode does not have any other object besides S_TCODE. However on exclusion and choosing Expert Option / Read old status and merge with new data, i see that there is a new version of a object has popped up in "NEW". The older version of that object is in the Changed mode.
From this I understand that if a standard object is changed then every time "Read old status and merge with new data" is chosen SU24 is re-read to pull out the standard object...  Am i correct here?
If the above is true then as a standard practice is it right to may inactivate the standard object and manually add that object again or copy that object to bring in a new version of that object.... -
      is this right?
    Please advice
    - ravi

    Hi Ravi,
When ever you add a new tcode to a role, make sure you add the tcode in the menu of the role so that the role will pull all the authorization objects check/maintained against the tcode.
When you delete a tcode then it will automatically deletes the authorization objects associated with the tcode.
If you do a merge with new authorization data, then the role will get the new authorization objects if newly check/maintained for any tcodes from SU24.
The best practice is to always have standard/maintained authorizations for the authorization objects in the role. Manual additions of authorization objects is not advisable unless if the business requires so.
    Please reward points.
    Regards,
    Kiran.

  • How can I open a project made in 2000 on Final Cut Pro to migrate it to a new version?

how can I open a project made in late 2000 on Final Cut Pro to migrate it to a new version to finish editing it? files, timeline and unfinished edit are all stored on hard drive since early 2001, with all the original miniDV tapes still in hand

Do you still have legacy FCP? If you not you need to find someone who will open the project in FCP6.0.6 or later. Export an XML file of the project. Use 7toX to convert it to an XML format that works with FCPX. Import the converted XML file to FCP.

I try to open iphoto and it comes up with You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto. I have downloaded photo manager and it's telling me to update but it wont update...

iPhoto is Apple's included program to manage your photo's and pictures.
It receives updates over time with Software updates and new machine or iLife purchases.
When iPhoto gets updated or a newer version is used, it may alter iPhoto support files, but newer iPhoto versions usually always compatible with older files which it then updates.
If you used a newer iPhoto on your iPhoto support files, then they got altered to the newer format, older iPhoto versions can't read the older format.
Somewhere along the line you somehow got a older version of iPhoto on your computer, you need to fine the newer version of iPhoto (not this photo manager, sounds like another program)
Or somewhere along the line you used a newer iPhoto version (like on another Mac) and it altered the iPhoto support files on your older version of iPhoto.
So the key here is to find the newest version of iPhoto and use that to access your iPhoto support files.
If you didn't access your iPhoto support files from another Mac, then you should have the newer iPhoto version on your computer.
Once you find it, and get it in the Dock, you should remove the older iPhoto version from your computer to prevent this from happening again.
Lastly, if the newer version of iPhoto is somehow gone off your computer, you should be able to get a copy off the latest OS X install disk or iLife using a free program called Pacifist.
    http://www.charlessoft.com/
Then you need to check for updates for iPhoto in the program itself, the current version is 9.1.2
