Audio post processing and CS5

I have a few questions regarding audio post processing done outside of PrPro.  The content is music that was recorded at 48khz/24-bit.  After post processing, it is in a 32-bit file, which is then combined with a video clip via Premiere.
1)  Does Premiere change the audio bit rate when it compresses video clips during the DVD burn process?
2) Does Premiere add dithering to the audio signal, prior to the compression process?
3) Is it desirable to add dithering to audio clips that are added to video clips?
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Hunt,
Thanks.  A couple of questions - I am not considering DVD-audio, but audio that has been recorded off-camera, edited, and then combined with the corresponding video clips.
1) Does 24-bit audio get converted to 16-bit audio by Premiere?  If so, this suggests that adding dither to audio files used within video clips could be beneficial.
2) I am guessing BD refers to Blue-ray.  Yes?  If so, is it advisable to up-sample audio clips or leave them at the sample rate that they recorded at?
Thanks,
Steve

  • Audio post processing

    Hello everyone!
I will start with a question as it goes:
Is it possible to intercept the PCM stream that is routed by the system to the AudioSink (i.e. speakers or headphones) and inject some post-processing on system wide basis?
My current investigation lead me to the following status.
-There is a system-wide audio destination, the CMMFAudioOutput sink. Maybe it is possible to create another sink, that will perform the post-processing and then redirect the resulting stream to the original output.
-There is a set of codecs that are instantiated by the DataPath depending on the FourCCs of the data source and data sink. Maybe it is possible to create a system-wide wrapper that will be called instead of any other codec, that will inside load the needed codec and after that perform the post-processing before returning the stream.
-There might be some other place for such a sound hook that i haven't found in the documentation.
I absolutely understand that such a scenario is a very dangerous thing to allow in an OS for phones. This is the reason that makes me wonder if this problem is solvable at all. Still, there might be some ways, that will surely include driver signing and any other actions preventing malicious usage.

Sorry but I only use this support forum so can't tell you which section of the developers forum to use to get an answer to that question.
At a guess I would say here:

  • It has messed up my being able to work on Facebook. It stops me from using the posting process and other things.

I am unable to using the posting feature on Facebook to share my comments. I also cannot "like" a feed or "comment" on a feed. It has also stopped me from accepting gifts sent to me, and I cannot message anyone.
Someone suggested that Firefox is blocking the pop-ups on Facebook , which is why I cannot use those features.
I also cannot use my media programs such as Lexmark Productivity Studio, HP media center, Windows media Center. It won't let me load pic from my camera into my computer.
All this is happening since I switched from IE to Firefox as my browser and recently to Firefox Beta. I like the speed of FF but not happy about certain features.
I am NOT a techno-nerd or whatever, and I can't afford to pay someone to fix things for me. However, I am a very good learner, as I am/was a grade school teacher.

All depends on what you're starting with and what you're exporting to. If you are exporting a self contained file using the sequences current settings then the export should happen pretty quickly. (length of the sequence and whether it has been rendered being the only real factors) Exporting a non self contained reference file should take even less time.
If you are converting your sequence on export then it will of course take longer depending on how much you are changing or compressing the file. And if you're working with HDV things can slow down dramatically as everything has to be conformed to i-frame.

  • Post-Processing limit on number of files?

    Hello,
When I export a set of pictures, I apply a post-processing Photoshop droplet to that applies the Imagenomic Portraiture filter. It works fine up to a certain point. I noticed that if the number of files is less than 21, it works fine. If the number is greater, it fails to perform the post-processing and won't even launch Photoshop to apply the droplet action.
Has anyone encountered a file limit problem with post-processing in export?
    Del

I'll assume you are talking about Windows and not Mac since I cannot speak about Mac's. In Windows, the export action is invoked by passing the filenames on a command line to the program/script that you specify. There are limits to how many characters can be passed on a command line, depending on which method the programmers used. I expect the limit is 2048 characters. When that limit is reached, then the action does nothing.
The only way to increase the number of photos you can process, is to change the export folder name to something very short, like C:\Temp, or even shorter. By default, it exports to a very long path name an putting that in front of each photo name eats up valuable characters.
There will still be a limit, but at least you can process more before failure.

  • Direct linking from Premiere gets stuck at post processing

    Hi Guys,
I have a huge project from Premiere. It's a feature about 1hr 32mins that i tried to direct link to speed grade. Speed grade loads up and it gets stuck at post processing. I read that people recommend exporting as an EDL but you only have 1 track of video? and I have like 9 tracks. What do you guys recommend doing?
    heres the setup I have.
    Macbook Pro Retina 15".
    256gb SSD
    16gb Ram
    Adobe CC
Project sits on 2 thunderbolt drives.

i turned off the intel gpu and only ran on the 1gb card. still nothing. left it alone for 5 hours while it was in "post processing" and didn't load. im getting nervous, even if I got it to work and it crashes on me; I cant afford to wait on it.
I went ahead and exported my project to quicktime and currently working in Resolve 10 Lite. The scene detection was a lot faster than speedgrades. Im not here to knock on adobe/speed grade. hopefully you guys can fix this soon?
    thanks

  • INSTALLATION ERROR AT RFC JOB POST PROCESSING

    hi experts,
i am trying to install IDES 4.7 WITH oracle 8i and windows xp
with the same resource i had successfully installed atleast three times but since last two installation stops at last phase
rfc job post processing and ask for PASSWORD OF DDIC
i tried diffrent password like 19920706,05071992,pass,password,change_on_install nothing working.in the mean while i am able to login to sap system which starts with dump CONVERT_TSTMP_INCONSISTENT_TAB.dont know what to do.please guide

    Hi Sanjeev,
After installation users sap*,ddic and earlywatch only exist in the system.Could you please tell me which user you logged into the system. What client you are logging in.
If you are getting sap* and ddic does not exist then you can not change the password because the users themselves not there. you can create those users(su01) and assign profile sap_all and sap_new.
Then login with sap* and ddic with the initial password and change the password then give those passwords at the time of installation.

  • Reversing Post Processed Docs

    Dear Colleagues,
How can I reverse the material documents after it has been post processed (in MF47) ? Is a doc-neutral reversal the only way? Can't I reverse that specific document?
    Thanks,
    John

I think no. as the material document and accouning document generated will be different during post processing and in MFBF. Some of the component are posted during MFBF some did not due to let us say less stock, then the generated documents will be seperate
I hope it is not possible.

  • Re-installing TCS2.5 and CS5.5 - process?

So... I mentioned in a posting over in Acrobat yesterday that things had gone awry on my notebook. Well, they went from bad to worse :-)
The notebook is currently being nuked and paved, and I'll have to load my TCS2.5 and CS5.5.
I vaguely recall that installing 2.5 was, well, weird, but I don't recall the details (other than that various items had to be upgraded in a certain order, I believe).
So, my question is: Is there a post somewhere detailing the proper installation process for tcs2.5 (or can somebody give me the process), and is there any weirdness I should beware of with regard to loading cs5.5 after that's done?
Thanks all. (my searching is proving fruitless)

Just watch out for the “headless” version of Acrobat that comes with FM – make sure that you don’t select it when installing the TCS suite. Versions prior to 3.0 wanted to install both instances I seem to remember. Go with the custom install option & pick and choose what you want installed. E.g. if you don’t use any source control, make sure that RoboSource isn’t selected.

  • Direct link from Premiere Pro to Speedgrade won't open and stops at the post processing bar.

I've just installed the new version of Speedgrade and every time I try to open a direct link from Premiere Pro to Speedgrade, it opens and starts to load, but when the post processing bar appears it stops there and doesn't open, I've gone back to the original versions of both programmes and that same thing happens, HLEP!

    Hi Vinay,
    1. I am using third party plug ins, and I understand that might be causing an issue, but I've also tried opening a new project with nothing in it at all, and that won't open.
    2. Premiere Pro quits after the project loading bar or after I create a new project.
    3. I used a lot of files! mov, mts, psd, ai, png, jpeg, and AE compositions through dynamic link.
    4. The project has about five sequences. They range from 1 minute to 4 minutes.
    Thanks!

  • Best way to stream lots of data to file and post process it

    Hello,
I am trying to do something that seems like it should be quite simple but am having some difficulty figuring out how to do it.  I am running a test that has over 100 channels of mixed sensor data.  The test will run for several days or longer at a time and I need to log/stream data at about 4Hz while the test is running.  The data I need to log is a mixture of different data types that include a time stamp, several integer values (both 32 and 64 bit), and a lot of floating point values.  I would like to write the data to file in a very compressed format because the test is scheduled to run for over a year (stopping every few days) and the data files can get quite large.  I currently have a solution that simply bundles all the date into a cluster then writes/streams the cluster to a binary file as the test runs.  This approach works fine but involves some post processing to convert the data into a format, typically a text file, that can be worked with in programs like Excel or DIAdem.   After the files are converted into a text file they are, no surprise, a lot larger than (about 3 times) the original binary file size.
I am considering several options to improve my current process.  The first option is writing the data directly to a tdms file which would allow me to quicly import the data into DIAdem (or Excel with a plugin) for processing/visualization.   The challenge I am having (note, this is my first experience working with tdms files and I have a lot to learn) is that I can not find a simple way to write/stream all the different data types into one tdms file and keep each scan of data (containing different data types) tied to one time stamp.  Each time I write data to file, I would like the write to contain a time stamp in column 1, integer values in columns 2 through 5, and floating point values in the remaining columns (about 90 of them).  Yes, I know there are no columns in binary files but this is how I would like the data to appear when I import it into DIAdem or Excel.
The other option I am considering is just writing a custom data plugin for DIAdem that would allow me to import the binary files that I am currently creating directly into DIAdem.  If someone could provide me with some suggestions as to what option would be the best I would appreciate it.  Or, if there is a better option that I have not mentioned feel free to recommend it.  Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello,
Here is a simple example, of course here I only create one value per iteration in the while loop for simplicity. You can also set properties of the file which can be useful, and set up different channels.
Beside, you can use multiple groups to have more flexibility in data storage. You can think of channels like columns, and groups as sheets in Excel, so you see this way your data when you import the tdms file into Excel.
I hope it helps, of course there are much more advanced features with TDMS files, read the help docs!

  • Post processing records in MF47 and COGI

    Hi All,
    I have a query....
In STD SAP will the postprocessing records created by Repetative Mfg. be visible in transaction COGI???
And will the postprocessing records created by Descrite Mfg. be visible in transaction MF47???
    Regards,
    Vinayak.

    Hi ,
In general for Discreate Mfg the post processing records are checked and cleared in Tcode : COGI.
Whereas for REM Mfg it is : MF47.
You will be able to view the REM postprocessing records in MF47, it is a standard behaviour of SAP , hence I can say there is no bug in your system.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Compressor post-processing applescript and cluster

I'm having a lot of trouble using a post-processing applescript. I have a preset that pumps out an mp3 from an hdv .mov. the post-processing script does some funky stuff and should pump out an xvid .avi. when submit the job to "This Computer" it works fine, I get the .mp3 and the script gets kicked off and generates .avi's. When the job is submitted to our cluster, however, the job fails immediately, doesn't generate either mp3s or .avi's. the log has the following:
    <----snip---->
    pid="250" msg="Hard-linked source file to cluster storage."/>
<log tms="226012897.974" tmt="02/29/2008 13:21:37.974" pid="250" msg="Job resource error: System Error = 1 {Operation not permitted}Failed to read filethread terminated due to exception (remote exception). This is likely caused by missing or renamed watermark filter file."/>
    <mrk tms="226012897.975" tmt="02/29/2008 13:21:37.975" pid="250" kind="end" what="service-request" req-id="D729F684-764C-439E-9A06-888BB4C9405C:1" msg="Preprocessing job request error (exception=Job resource: System Error = 1 {Operation not permitted}Failed to read filethread terminated due to exception (remote exception))."></mrk>
    </logs>
    </service>
    </services>
    <----snip---->
all requisite files have been placed on either a global filesystem (OD home directory for the post-processing script itself) or copies have been distributed to all nodes (a requisite to the applescript). The submitting user has full read/write permissions to the working dir and any subfolder.
    Any ideas?

In case anyone runs up against this one, I found a solution/workaround. It turns out that when submitting the job to the queue, qadmin would copy the applescript over to the shared folder. During this copy, it would change attributes of the file such that the OS thought the .app was a classic application and would refuse to run it.
Workaround: in compressor preferences, set "Cluster Options:" to "Never copy source to cluster"
Luckily this worked for our setup as we assume all source media and scripts are already on a global filesystem.

    Without a link, it's anybody's guess.
It could be a problem the video rendering itself.  Which software did you use?
Did you export to the 3 file types -- MP4, OGG and WEBM to support all browsers?
Does your web server support those 3 MIME file types?
