Audio problem; buzzing noise (HP Spectre XT TouchSmart 15-4011nr)

Hi, I recently bought an HP Spectre XT TouchSmart 15-4011nr Ultrabook. I'm getting this annoying buzzing noise while listening to music or streaming movies. The store change my laptop for another one and after a few minutes listening I got the same behaviour on the new (same model) laptop. Is this a model problem? Is there anyone with the same problem?

Solution found for me.  First, a little background.   I have a HP Spectre XT Touchsmart 15-4010NR and also have the same annoying  buzzing noise.  Usually lasts less than a second and is intermittent.  Counted it 13 times in four minutes of a YouTube audio file.  Time between the buzzes varies significantly ranging from a second or two to over a minute.  Once during the four minutes the audio cut out completely for less than a second.  My solution, I unplugged the AC adapter.  No more problem whatsoever as long as I'm on the battery.  Tried this multiple times, plugging the AC back in for a few minutes, then the same on battery.  The result, the buzzing occurs only when the AC is plugged in, and does not occur at all when on battery power.  The AC power adapter provides power and charges the battery normally.  Not sure what to conclude from this.  I suppose the AC power adapter or cord could have an issue.  Not going to go out and buy another one to test whether this is the case.  It's an inconvenience, but I'll just unplug the AC power when listening to audio.  If I listened to long recordings or movies this could become a real issue.  I'd be curious to know if it's a hardware problem, or something I could adjust in the settings on the computer, or something else like a grounding issue.   Interested if others can confirm my findings and expand on them.  out

  • Audio Problems -- "clicking noises"

I'm trying to play the movie I just created but the audio is messed up. Throughout the piece you can hear "clicking noises" as the people speak. How do I get it to stop? Any help would be amazing. Thanks!

    Hi
Where did Your original video and audio originate from ?
.avi, .wmv files or from iTunes ? - often strange results
import audio as .aiff (export out from iTunes as an .aiff audio-CD and
use this in Your movie projects.)
if from a miniDV tape Camera - then playback in Camera to a TV to listen
on the original and find out if rthis sound is OK.
    • Eventually run a cleaning tape in Your Camera (as instruction)
Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows:
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Hard disk is untidy: Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Delete iMovie pref file - or rather start a new user/account - log into this and re-try
    • Third party plug-ins that doesn't work OK (not relevant for iMovie’08)
    • Program miss-match: iMovie 5.0.2, up to Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK
    • Program miss-match: iMovie 6.0.3 or 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • Program miss-match: iMovie’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
iMovie pref file resides: Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
    and is named: com.apple.iMovie.plist
While iMovie is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
    Now restart iMovie.

  • MSI GE70 Apache Pro-012 Audio Problem Crackling noise

I an having problems with my audio, there is a crackling noise every 5-10 seconds. It has been doing it since i have got the laptop 3 weeks ago. Does any one know how to fix this? I would appreciate if you could help, Thanks.

    Quote from: Superduper97;113794
Yes it happens with headphones too and I have the latest driver from Realtek. And yes I do have a Logitech wireless mouse dongle, But that makes no difference. I have also tried running it on the battery and that makes no difference either.
Try to use the audio driver from MSI website(6.0.1.7349) and check if the sound remains without any USB devices plugged.
    http://download.msi.com/nb_drivers/ad/audio_realtek_6.0.1.7349_0xaa9a2725_81700.zip
Which movie player are you using? Change another one and see if the problem remians.
What kind of video/music files are you playing?

  • Audio problems while playing videos from superdrive

Hi, i've got a macbook pro with leopard and a bootcamp partition with windows xp.
When i play videos (divx or dvds) from my superdrive under windows, i have audio problems (like noise), but the same videos are fine in leopard or if i play them from another storage, for example from usb.
Perhaps it's a problem with last bootcamp drivers..or maybe there is something wrong with my superdrive. i remember this wasnt an issue when i bought my mac (less then a year ago).
Thanks in advance for the help.
    Mirko

    I'm having the same problem.
I had a video file that I had to convert for my iPod & iPhone, after doing so, only a white video screen and just the audio.
What the heck is going on? it seems like a few people are having this problem!

  • Dv7 beats audio makes a buzzing noise or some kind of speaker feed back

when i play music speakers sometimes make a buzzing noise seems to happen more on the bass side

I just installed a Mac Pro for a client. After a while I noticed this buzzing everyones talking about. It was especially bad after I installed two more internal drives. It seemed to come and go with HD activity. I pulled up the lever on the back of the machine when it was particularly loud and the buzzing went away. So like some others have noticed it's associated with the HD bays. I took the side off and adjusted the seating of the drives so they were exactly centered Now the buzzing is gone. I'll keep an eye on it. Maybe it will need some kind of silicone bumpers where the bay trays are metal to metal.
    More research to come.

  • Audio problems after installing Windows 8.1

Hey, so I got this laptop (HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j013ea) last month, I downloaded 8.1 when it was released and my audio has been shocking since installing. I've tried uninstalling the IDT drivers and having the default Windows driver, but both are pretty terrible.
When I have headphones plugged in, I can hear a low buzzing noise, like somewhere the audio is set to a crazy high volume, that sort of buzzing. When I'm playing audio through the speakers it sounds like how it would if you had headphones plugged in but you weren't wearing them, really low and like it's far away
Hope that sorta explains the problem, really ruining this laptop and so far Windows 8.1 seems horrid

Try installing the driver from the following weblink:
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp61001-61500/sp61258.exe
if the issue persists, please provide the hardware id of your sound card using the following steps:
    1. In the search option of Charms Bar type devmgmt.msc. Select the resulted file in the left pane. This opens Device Manager.
    2. Unknown devices would be listed as such and marked out with a yellow question mark.
    3. Select the sound video or game controllers, unknown device or other device for which you need drivers and right click to access Properties.
    4. In the Properties window click on Details tab and select Device Instance Id  or Hardware ID from the drop down.
    5. An alphanumeric string like this PCI\VEN_1217&DEV_7130&SUBSYS_012F1025&REV_01\4&6B16D5B&0&33F0 is the identification marker for the device.
    6. Please provide this number so that we can suggest the appropriate driver.

  • Ultrabook/Notebook freezing and making loud buzzing noise

I just received via UPS a HP Pavilion 11 x2 PC 11-h010nr for my daughter for Christmas.  I decided to let her open it as her one before Christmas present and I am glad I did.  She went into xbox music to listen to her new beats audio sound.  On about the 3rd song the loudest annoying buzzing noise came out of the screen portion and the screen was frozen (she had it detached from the keyboard).  She hit the power button and the noise stopped.  She got back into xbox music and about the 2nd song this time it did it again.  She started to cry and very upset because she thought it was broke and would take a very long time for us to get it fixed and she gets a replacement.  Needless to say her Christmas has just turned into a really bad Christmas.  Also today I brought the notebook with me to work to see if the problem continues and as I was putting the song on Pause/Play the noise occured, the screen did not freeze but the noise did occur.

    Hello mickeymom44,
The notebook would still be covered by the  warranty, I recommend calling our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region please click the link below to get the support number for your region. http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/hpsupport/index.pl

  • Horrible buzzing noise whilst on charge

Hi all...not sure if anyone has had the same problem but when my Mac is plugged into charge and I have audio or video playing I have this awful buzzing noise in the back ground but when unplugged the audio is perfect - maybe there is some kind of electrical interference happening but it is getting a bit serious as I am a musician and I need total clarity with my recordings. Has anyone had this before? Please help?
(Was thinking maybe a shielding issue or something)
    Thanks in advance!

Are you using a third party power supply? I've heard some of these cause hum / buzzing. If you look at the comments here for example:

    hi andrewjamaica,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Community.
The buzzing noise that you heard is due to the system being halted (always happens when your playing a music or a video when the PC hangs). As for the error 0x80041003, Microsoft published an article regarding this issue and it appears that it was caused by updating your windows machine.
You can find the Microsoft Fix It here:

    Hope this helps.

  • Regza TV 26AV605PG - base required and buzzing noise

I have just bought a second hand Regza TV but it doesn't have a base so I have two questions here:
Is there somewhere I can get a seond hand base?
Are other bases compatible that I can search for - in the UK?
I have a buzzing noise on the TV which wasn't there a day or so ago.
What should I check to see what is causing it.?
I have checked all the connections are in correctly.
It is connected to a set top box, video and Dvd
Thanks in advance for your help

I think with new base will be pretty problematic. I mean I understand your questions but such info about compatibility is I think for Toshiba service because they have all parts number for each part and can say if the certain part can be used on different models.
Try to contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help or advice. In worst case buy flat wall bracket and problem is solved. Check also eBay. Maybe you will be lucky and find such part.
Buzzing noise. On this virtual way it is not easy to say why this happen. Can you hear it all the time, no matter which external audio/video source you use?
Is some WLAN device or phone placed near the TV?

  • Audio problems in video imported fro iphone4

I imported some videos made on iphone on a windows XP - without using itunes.
Now the videos present audio problems in avidemux.
If I convert them using Handbrake in several formats (e.g. avi), I can't manage to make them readable by Windows MovieMaker

Is there a way to extract the audio so I can clean it up using Sound Soap
iMovie 06 has some good filters for that.
I also use Final Cut Express, so maybe it would be better to just export it to FCE and then extract the video from there?
Final Cut Express (or iMovie 06) will give you better quality but it won't solve the buzzing noise. I also suspect a grounding problem.

  • HS-950 Buzz noise on CPU activity.

    Hey there,
I just bought the HS-950 USB headphones, and I am trying to get them to work on my Windows 7 x64 system. I installed the beta Win7 drivers, yet I still get noise in the headphones on CPU / computer activity (opening directories, scrolling web pages). This sometimes stops, but comes back when I launch an application that uses the microphone (like Skype, Steam, or even the system sound preferences on the Input pane).
Is there anythign that can be done about it?
My system is clean, I have removed all previous drivers, and Device Manager shows that the headphones are running via driver version 1.0.0.640, from Creative, not the built-in Microsoft USB Audio drivers or the old .450 that came on the install CD.

I have exactly the same problem on my HS-1000 USB headphone.
Initially I had Vista 32bit, but I had bought Windows 7 for a different pc but decided I would install it on my current PC(64 bit installation).
    Yet the problem still persists.
Also tried the headphones on a Windows XP system and same problem.
Now I live in an old house that doesn't have "grounded" electricity so I tried them on a laptop and same problem persists. To be even more sure I went to a friends house that's grounded and same problem again!
Why did I try this ground thingy, well my guitar amplifyer makes a buzz noise as well when I don't put a copper cable between it and my radiator ( e.g. ground it )
Anyway, to SeregB, I would suggest you contact the store as soon as you possibly can and send it on RMA and try and get a replacement because it seems Creative doesn't know (or want to know) what the problem is.

  • Buzz noise in movies

    Hi,
I am new to Apple and iMovie.
My problem: I copied .avi movies from my old windows computer onto my iMac but on all my movies I now have a buzzing noise, i.e. where I added music.
I saved all my finished movies on my camcorder too and tried to import these movies again (Sony DCR PC 100E) into iMovie. In the capture preview the audio is ok. However, when I play the captured clip the buzzing noise is there too.
When searching the forum I saw similar questions, but none of the answers there solved my problem.
    Thanks.

    Try following:
click the Camera app, slide the photo-movie slider on the bottom right to movie then back completely. Close Camera app, double click home button twice and really quit camera.
If that does not help, do it again, then do a reset: hold both Home and Power button for about 10 seconds until you see the white apple logo then let go.

  • T410: Audio Hissing/Buzzing/weird stuff

    Hi,
I recently bought a T410 Thinkpad with Intel integrated graphics (boo), and it runs great except for its audio.  The audio problem is less noticeable if played quietly and with the microphone disabled.  The audio however; whether played through built in speakers, hooked up speakers (through headphone jack), or even usb headsets, does a strange hissing every so often.  Its most noticeable on external speakers, secondarily on the built in ones.  This hissing/buzzing/sibilance whatever you want to call it sounds like a cd skipping for like .5-1 sec, its like if your on Ventrillo and someone is lagging hardcore when they try to speak.  This skipping is not nearly as obtrusive through an usb headset, although if one concentrates they can hear it manifest in odd .2 sec gaps or so in the song, buy atleast it isn't painful. This problem seems to be prevalent across multiple Lenovo models (most notably the Edge 13"), been looking everywhere to find a good solution.    Does anyone have a solution for this problem which makes mp3's and movies painful to get through?
    Sincerely,
    Michael S
PS. My audio drivers are updated, i think my BIOS is also.

    Hi
A friend of mine has had an similar issue using an DJ Controller : Traktor Kontrol S4
It was not a noise but he noticed some stutter and audio drop-outs.
The problem was the background processes which were running while using the controller.
In order to solve this it was needed to disable all possible devices in device manager like WLan, LAN, Bluetooth, etc
Additionally he had to disable the Antivirus software and firewall which was running in the background.
I dont know if it helps you but I think its worth a try
One further idea: try to reduce the CPU performance. This can be done in Win 7 power management.
How to handle the power managment features of Windows 7
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD12017W0001R01.htm
The option Processor power management contain the option called Maximum processor state
Here you can set it to 90%-80%

  • When I record a video on my iPhone 4s, I play it back and it has this buzzing noise playing, even when I focus on something while filming, when I play the video back, you can hear when I've tapped to focus, how can I fix this?

Ever since I got my Iphone 4s, I have noticed that when I film a video and play it back, it has this buzzing noise and when im in the middle of filming a video and I focus on something, you can hear a click where I have focused when I play it back, is this the microphone? can I fix it myself? or do i have to take my iPhone in to be properly fixed? Help Me please!!

    See this veeeeeeeeeery long thread.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3404857
It's an issue with hundreds of phones.  Some claim it's software related, some hardware, some say it's a mixture of both.
Some people have had temporary success with quitting the Phone.app / restoring as a new phone / restoring from an iCloud backup / disabling Siri / toggling speakerphone on & off...
Unfortunately all of the above only been temporary, with the problem recurring again after a few calls, or a few days etc.
So far the only solution that seems permanent has been to replace the phone.  But even so, it's the luck of the draw to recieve a functional phone, and not another faulty one.
I'm completely annoyed as there is no Apple Store near me...... and Apple haven't even acknowledged the issue, despite the above thread being 34 pages long, as of writing.
