Audio problem: large avi file / audio out of sync getting worse towards the end

Hi,
We have an 11 hours avi file (about 500GB) that plays fine in Windows Media Player and is in sync.
When we import it into Premiere Pro CS6 audio and video tracks are of the same length. At the beginning of the video sound is fine and in sync as well. But at the end of the video the audio is out of sync by a couple of frames (but still the same length). We tried different things and the only thing that worked was setting the audio buffer size to maximum. Now the audio is in sync at the beginning, middle and end of video. But of course editing is impossible like this (if you hit pause the audio needs some time to stop).
Any help or suggestions are welcome.

Also, When your project sequence is correct, you will not see a red line over your timeline at first import, before you do anything to the video

If you have a red line over the timeline after importing a video and before adding any effects... your project is wrong for your video

Now that you have your video DETAILS available, check to see if you have a video file with a Variable FRAME Rate
IF YES, you will most likely need to find a program to convert to a CONSTANT Frame Rate to edit in Premiere Elements

AVI files audio is missing in iPhoto library

Suddenly all my audio is missing from my avi files in my iPhoto library.
The only thing that has changed is I recently updated to the latest version of iMovie, which now
shows thumbnails of iPhoto video. It took about 30 minutes to generate the

What version of Quicktime are you running? If you haven't update to QuickTime 7.5 updater and then try the movies again.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

Problem import large avi-files into iMovie '11

I have a large AVI-file, DV, from an old video camera that I want to import to iMove '11. The file is 10,37 GB but when I import it to iMovie only a few scenes is visible. Also, iMovie says the file is 4,71 GB.
How do I import the whole file?

If you can convert the AVI movie back on the PC to Quicktime, this would be your best option. AVI files are limited to 4GB in size. To get around this limit, the AVI file might be referencing other smaller files on the PC. The AVI file format has been pretty much abandoned by Microsoft which now uses the WMV format.

Can't Import large .avi file from digital camera into iPhoto 08

I have a digital camera with a 4GB SD card. I was shooting video and have several small .avi files on the card and one large .avi file (2.67 GB) on the same card. I did not have a problem importing the small files. iPhoto hung while trying to import the large file. I read in this forum that I should use Image Capture, which I tried. When I used Image Capture on the smaller files (just to see how it worked), my camera would flash while it was transferring. When I tried Image Capture on the large file, the camera did not flash and after about 20 minutes, there didn't seem to be anything going on with the transfer. I also tried an old card reader through Image Capture, and that didn't work either. Should Image Capture be able to handle this size file? Do you know of any way to break up the large file into smaller files on the SD card? What am I missing? Thanks!

Canon's cameras do not mount on the Desktop. It's a 'feature' of the brand.
There are several possibilities for Image Capture - including minor directory damage on the card etc. The only solution is get the card to mount, and that means a recent Card Reader.

Convert large AVI files to MPEG4 with PE11 to reduce size

I have a lot of large AVI files from captured VHS tapes. Computer hard disk is full. Should I convert large AVI files to MPEG4 using PE11 to reduce file size? In the future, can I import MPEG4 into PE11 for video projects? I don't want to delete the AVI file until I know I can work with MPEG4.

Problems seeing avi files in finder

Hi,
I've recntly switched to mac and I have been copying a load of stuff to my new machine from my old PC. The trouble that I am having is that i can't see some DivX AVI files when I look for them in finder (the folder they are in looks as if it is empty). When I look for the files using spotlight search or if I go through a program and get to the file though file and open I can see the files normally.
Does anyone know what might be causing this problem?

Finder has some trouble refreshing the contents of folders after you perform some operations like unzipping copying and moving so all you need to do is create a blank folder in the apparently but not so empty folder and then delete the untitled new folder. This is the easiest and fastest way i've found. I'm hoping it will go away eventually with an OS update.

Large avi files

I keep getting error code 0 when I try moving my large avi files 9GB to my external drive. whats wrong? this seems like a remedial task that should be a none issue

the 4gb thing doesn't make any sense i have plenty of dvds 4.7 gb on the disk
If they're compressed or segmented, they may be less than 4GB per file.

Problem downloading avi files

I have recently had problems downloading avi files from rapidshare.de, because the avi files do not download to my desktop (a new ticket system prevents me from manually clicking on the link, and instead begins downloading the files automatically), but open and play in my browser (Internet Explorer 5.2). I cannot save these files to my computer or open them in my QuickTime application. Can I get some help as to how I can configure my browser to download avi files to my desktop, instead of opening them in the browser

If the link is a direct liink to the avi file, you can just hold the 'control' key - click and hold the mouse over the link and then select "Download linked file to disk."
If the link is to a html or other similiar web page that will play the file in it then it gets a little more complicated to get that avi file. Then you may have to view source of that page and find the direct link to the avi file for download.

This is a common issue and a solution could have been quickly found by doing a search.

11.2 Grid Infrastructure profile.xml file is out of sync

Currently running 11.2 grid infrastructure in a two node cluster. The profile.xml is out of sync on node 1 the profile.xml has a different clusterguid from node 2. I have opened a SAR and Oracle has confirmed this is a bug and is with development tier 2.
I just wanted to know if anyone else has seen this issue.

I had the same problem after I gave my old iPad to my parents and tried to install Netflix. This is what you have to do: Open iTunes on your computer, the one you sync your iPad to. Then go to iTunes Store and search for and download Netflix app. After you download it, if your iPad is set to download new purchases it may start downloading on your iPad. If so, tap and hold to delete the app (because it is trying to install the new version on the iPad) Next step, go to the App Store on your iPad and find Netflix and it should say install since you already purchased it on the computer. Tap to install, and it will say the version is not compatible, tap to download a previous version. Click that and it will install the older version! One more thing, if and when you sync to your computer again it will say something like " Unable to install Netflix on your iPad" Just click the box to never remind you again, because it's trying to sync the newer Netflix app to your iPad, but it doesn't work so it displays the message. The old app will remain on the ipad. Hope this helps, good luck

I also have Jolly's problem. I found the iMovie 9.0.9 folder and tried to launch the older version of iMove. It would not launch. I removed all of the iMovie preferences from the Preferences folder, removed iMove 10 from the applications folder, and restarted my Mac. iMove 9.0.9 still won't launch and I can't access my videos created with the older version of iMovie. Is there a way to uninstall iMovie 10 and reinstall iMovie 9.0.9?
I am running Yosemitie on a iMac.

Thank you so much for providing the details about the duplicate song issue you are experiencing. It sounds like you would like to remove the duplicate songs that will not play on your iPhone, but when you connect it to iTunes, iTunes only shows you one copy of the song on your iPhone.
In this situation, I recommend deleting the individual songs that do not play directly from your iPhone. I found the steps to do this on page 61 of the iPhone User Guide (http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf):
Delete a song from iPhone: In Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete.
